whats the name that i can put for my rom or can i just name it anything ? thanks
u can name it anything from speed demon to powesource just don't copy other roms name
You can name it anything you like (Unless the name is already used [and that's for the same device so no confusion... if it's a common name])
It's always fun to think of something unique, though.

HI there,
I have a question for all the chef's on XDA, I have noticed once your have finnished a rom, you upload it mostly to Rapidshare, and wich almost gives errors to everyone I know..
So i was thinking, I have a server running exstra doing nothing, and thought if I only give you guys a "special" place to upload your roms, wich is totaly user friendly, and wich will show you stats about how many ppl have download and from where? would you use it or will i just waste my time?
Also, I would also make it for if you make updates to the rom, you can send an email to ALL the users that has opted in for news on the rom?
Also, if you have any comments or suggestions? Please feel free to make some
PS: I wont be charging you guys a cent, like a say, its an exstra server..
PSS: Admins I don't know if this is allowed, so this is also a question raised to you guys asking if I may do it for the guys.
LET ME KNOW

I could make it so that once the user has downloaded the specific ROM/RADIO/CAB that he/she can fill in a form telling you the pro's and con's ect ect.
I'm new to this and I've asked people for help but nobody seems to can BUT if you can show me how I can edit things like, change the folder to where you d/l a MMS or edit the size of the favorited person on FB.
There is no general answer to this question. You must reverse engineer an app and find a way, how to modify what you want.
Ok, I'm listening and willing to learn, but for the touted of such an open source OS like Android, I find it VERY difficult that I cant do things like save pics to a different folder other than "all downloads". There must be a way I can edit the strings or permission to the access of this folder only for downloads.
You dev/themers/etc are simply amazing and I had an idea/request and by no means am trying to create any extra work for you. When you guys develop a rom/theme/mod whatever can you put that category in the actual name of the zip file?
Example AlteredBeastAlpha5.zip could be [ROM] AlteredBeastAlpha5.zip? I know it is becoming standard to name the threads like that but I think it would benefit the community if the files where also named this way.
Maybe its just my OCD but its just an idea and hopefully this makes sense or benefits the community. I searched and didn't see a request like this but if this has been asked or is not needed or everyone thinks I am full of poop Mods please delete.

Spaces in file names that you intend to upload/host somewhere for download can create problems.
i would love to learn how to incorporate this functionality into a rom (i'm an owner of a htc phone and primarily use sense roms). from what i've read, it's only a matter of adding a couple of files (phonewindowmanager$12.smali and phonewindowmanager$13.smali) and modifying phonewindowmanager.smali. if done right, this functionality can be added to any rom.
i've been comparing the cm7 smali file to a sense smali file to see what the differences are in terms of code but it just makes my eyes go wonky since i know nothing about reading/writing code.
until yesterday, i had no idea how to extract classes.dex from android.policy.jar nor was i aware of any of the information mentioned above. in other words, i'm a noob at this. i would like to learn how to do this and by the looks of it, many others on the forum are interested as well.
is there a dev out there that would like to share his/her knowledge/wisdom/experience on this with the rest of the xda community? i realize this is a lot to ask but i thought i'd try. thanks in advance.
I'd also be interested in this, for phones where Cm7 isn't available
Me too. Am going to put this thread as my signature until some kind soul comes up with an tutorial. Or at least a rhetoric answer.
By the way, the only guy that i know is, Andy Thompson, who's always update his mod/hack for MIUI roms
http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/mod-skip-track-via-volume-press.7356/
and also CosmicDan
http://miuiandroid.com/community/th...hold-volume-to-skip-tracks.17381/#post-131527
Must have skill/mod/hack or even app for music lover and flashaholic.
Hi there
I was wondering if somewhere out there is something like a framework for creating animal like creatures based on parameters you can change.
The important part is it should not used predesigned graphics but generate something animal-like (kind of pokemon would be nice) that's only based on a given Input and it should produce the same output with the same input parameters everytime.
Is there something like this out there?
Or at least something similar that I can improve for my usecase?
I guess it could save me some amount of work and before creating my own.
And I thought i should ask here if someone knows something like this.
thanks in advance
