I have a LG E900 (Updated to the latest software). It is also on a fresh reset right now as I tried to fix the problem. Basically, the phone rings, I answer but can't hear or say anything. Texts are fine and it even calls when put on loudspeaker sometimes.
Any ideas?
Your phone is stuck in headphone mode.
Push and pull 3.5mm headset to the audio jack several times might fix it.
I'll try that. It freezes sometimes when I answer though.
Same happened with my HTC HD7 last month. I RMA'd it and got brand new phone.
I've already returned it. I might need to again. Has anyone any idea?

I have an ATT Fuze and there is no sound coming from my speaker. There is no sound at all on the phone. when i receive phone calls i cannot hear the person. I cannot hear any music also. i solved this the first time with a hard reset but after one day of usage, the same problem happened again.
Is there anyway to fix this or is this a problem with my phone only?
My Tilt did this occasionally while running custom ROM's, hasn't happened on my Fuze.
When it happened on the Tilt I noticed that the sound, both system and ringer, would randomly be turned all the way off. This made no sound come out of the device. Seemed to only do this after having the device paired to my Bluetooth car stereo. When I would turn off the car and get out, that's when it would do it.
I just kept flashing ROMs until it didn't do it anymore. Hope this helps a little
There is already a post on this matter on the forum ("Intermittent sound problems")
So far I sent it 3 times for repairs for this reason
This may be an hardware issue.
I've read that some people resolved this issue with a new replacement.
What radio and ROM do you have?
Sometimes I get to use my 3.5mm output either with headphones or my stereo and it works fine. Then later in the day it will not output through the jack, only the speakerphone. I have to reboot the phone (soft or hard) to get it working again. I haven't seen a pattern leading up to this.
bump, is anybody else experiencing this?
sounds like a linux bug

I have experienceed this on two occasions as well. I hope it is something that can be easily remedied.
I told HTC about this issue while returning my Nexus One for a faulty power button. I'll report back if they leave me any information on it's return.
I am having this issue as well
i have had the issue, rebooting did not help but it started to work again after a week or 2... lol i don t remember
Update: so I had the phone warrantied for a faulty power button a couple of months ago and when I got the phone back (didn't do an exchange) I had a new IMEI number and the headphone jack worked perfectly, until last week. The headphone jack (3.5mm) stopped working. I have done hard resets and the jack still won't work so I am getting an exchange, arriving today.
New phone works good. Tried the old phone one more time after a hard reset and still nothing.

I had this yesterday - thought I was going crzy.
Couldn't see how to fix this - so I reflashed the rom from my Nandroid backup - and its all working just fine now

My gf's N1 is doing the exact same thing. She said it started maybe two weeks ago. She has had the phone since July. Has anyone found a resolution for this? She restarts the phone but that obviously can become a nuisance after while.
Do you not read? It's a short thread. "had the phone warrantied" Your girlfriend must be impressed with your resourcefulness.
I had the same problem... except mine was in reverse. My phone thought it was always in headset mode (like a headset was plugged in).
It wouldn't output any sound unless I turned the speaker on. I could remedy the problem by playing a song and playing with the headphone jack, barely making contact with the ports internals until it played through the normal speaker.
This would work until I rebooted, which then it would think the headset is plugged in again. So basically the jack was flaky.
I had some dust under my bottom left screen too, but they did a warranty exchange and the new one is working perfectly.
Hello everyone!
My external speaker suddenly stopped working. So now I cant go handsfree, I dont hear rings of incoming phones, or any sound that comes thru the external speaker.
Funnily the vibration during incoming calls doesnt come either. But it still vibrates while navigating thru menus.
I think a hardware reset might do the trick, but I cant tell before tomorrow, since I need to backup my files first.
Or is there a known bug with latest mango or a htc specific bug?
Okay vibration seems to work as it should, maybe I didnt feel it the first time I tested it.
Just now I had a moment where I heard menu sounds and then I quickly tried to play a ringtone which also came thrru the speakers but as you can guess, it stopped working again...
more update after the hardware reset tomorrow
It may just be the speaker blown out like mine did only 5 weeks after purchase. Not a big deal, the speaker is the same one as HTC EVO so a replacement part is easy to do yourself or through the Phone Carrier store (that has a repair center).
Since replacement mine has been fine since. When it was blown, it still worked, but was painful to listen to.
Ok thx. I will do that. I hoped it was some software error.
Taking my Arrive in today for the same thing. It just blew a few days ago, and any sound coming out of the external speaker just sounds distorted and garbled.
Hello Everyone,
I have been using HTC Sensation for a good 3 months and no problem at all so far. The phone is rooed and uisng Insertcoin 2.4.1 Rom. 3 days ago while in a call, the sound faded away and since then there is some times sound coming from the ear piece sometimes not. Even the call starts succesfully loud and suddenly sound disappears. I have tried everything i know, reflashing, trying another Rom, formatting the SD card and not installing any software etc...During the call, i can communicate if i turn the speaker on or plug in the earphones. I belive that there is a bug that commands the phone to shut the earpiece and divert the sound either to speaker or the earphones.
Anyone ever has/had this kind of problem?
Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem with my s2, any solution?

Im having the same Problem, but i observed that the sound doesn't come back randomly, the earpiece speaker seems to shutdown a while after the display gets turned off due to the proximity sensor. I tried different ROMs, and got the same result, i guess it's a hardware problem. Would you tell me, if you get the exact same Problem, meaning you check if sound disappears when you're having it close to the head?
Thank you
[Q] In-call mic & speaker dead on stock device, can only make calls with Bluetooth
Anyone else encountered this problem? It's NOT a volume issue, it's an 'in-call speaker and mic not working at all' issue. About two months ago my phone calls completely cut out all in-call sound, UNLESS I use a Bluetooth headset, in which case I can talk and hear just fine. When it first went out, I was able to use the mic and in-call speaker as long as I put it in speakerphone mode, but after a few weeks, that cut out, too. It will answer the call...I just can't communicate without BT engaged. Factory reset and other known "try this first" solutions have been dead-ends.
The OTA to KitKat didn't change or help anything in regard to this problem, and the same problem persists in the same fashion. I am currently still stock...after modding my M7 on TMO repeatedly, when I switched to Verizon and got an M8, I resolved to stick with stock and try to appreciate getting the OTAs before the other carriers. All well and good--until your in-call sounds bugs out and renders your device useless as a phone unless you put your BT earpiece in first.
I'm curious if this is a widely known problem, as I couldn't find evidence of it being common, but wasn't sure if I was just looking in the wrong place or using the wrong search terms. If so, is there a decent fix, or did VZ just sell me a lemon? If there's not a decent solution, would Factory Reset, unlock, and flashing TWRP and a good aftermarket ROM, say CM, cause this problem to be fixed?
Just figured I'd ask the hive before I dig into it myself and end up pissing away the rest of my weekend on it. Cheers and thanks!
