UMA on Orange UK - LG Optimus 3D

Bit annoyed to be told that *UMA will not work on my O3d because i dont have the firmware from orange (i got mine from Phone4U unbranded)
I have no reception at home.
If somebody has a copy of the Orange firmware with UMA please let me know i can provide upload space if needed,
If i am able to source UK Orange Firmware, would anybody mind helping me through the process of installing it and ripping a certain application out of it for me otherwise things are going to get messy but i dont mind to much either way as long as i can get it working.
I am new to android.
Used cooked rom's on the hermes, HD2 and Touch pro 2.
Many thanks to all in advance for taking the time to read my post.
*UMA is a service that Orange offer for letting people use wifi at home for phone signal.
**Yes i am scared ****less that i will brick my 4 day old phone regardless of history of using cooked roms etc etc ....

*bump
Thnx

Hiya
Many thanks for the link.
I had been to that thread and the firmware posted is a generic one for Europe.
Not Vendor specific.

Generic is
BIN_LGP920AT-00-V10d-EUR-XXX-JUL-08-2011+0
for OPTIMUS PORTUGAL, ORANGE AUSTRIA, ORANGE FRANCE, ORANGE ROMANIA, ORANGE UK, ORANGE SWISS is
BIN_LGP920AT-00-V10d-ORG-XXX-JUL-08-2011+0

Yeah
lol
this is awkward .....
Cheers

Maybe u can extract Orange rom and put specific .apk to your phone??

that is my plan but at the moment i have no idea what the APK is or what it is called.
i will try that first to see if it is horribly simple but i presume i will need to brand my phone :/
kind of a wierd request here isnt it How do i brand my phone mine is unlocked LOL

ok tried flashing the BIN_LGP920AT-00-V10d-ORG-XXX-JUL-08-2011+0.zip ROM
But it wouldnt install on my device using Clockwork.
No error log either so i dont know why.

I don't think you're supposed to flash using CWM. The download page says to see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490 for the proper procedure.

ahhh i thought that was how to unbrick the phone (had it open on another tab )
didn't realize that "was" the procedure to update phone

Anyway,
Back on UMA again after loads of other crap needed sorting.
Got the APK but like many others it just FC's and after see'ing others posts regarding the matter i am afraid i will be not continuing as it is beyond my level and im am moving home in 10 days

Radio Stack Downgrade is possible XDA1

This has probably already been covered but I have just managed to downgrade my radio stack from O2 4.21 to 4.16. The reason I did this was because a long time ago I changed my IMEI to the same as my normal cellphone because I wanted to use my cell sim in my xda and take use of the services e.t.c. unfortunatly three weeks ago I got my cellphone stolen whilst on holiday. I was able to get a new phone but I didn't like the idea of my stolen IMEI being on my XDA too. Plus I wanted to make sure that the git who stole my phone was not able to use the cellphone as I intend to bar it. I did some searching on this site and managed to get a rsupgrade.exe that will downgrade the stack so that XDA manaipulator will allow me to make changes again so that I can re-input the original XDA IMEI..(not sure why i bothered changing it in the first place)
Anyway i'm a very happy XDA user once again...can't wait to get the XDA2!
p.s I upgarded fisrt the german radio stack 3.23 then downgraded from there to 4.16...the XDA is owrking perfectly now
Can you give the steps you took to the downgrade please because this is something I have been trying to do for a long time. Where did you get the german rsu and what made you choose it in the first place?
Can you eventually post or just link the version 4.16 of the O2 RSU?
Thx
Hi,
Had a few private PM on this subject so thought I would post the steps and files I found on this forum to downgrade:
1. If you have already updraded to RS 4.21 from O2, or similar and are unable to downgrade because the flashing stops at 1% (or 5% or even 10%) then read on.
2. It seems that different RSUpgrade.exe's work differently and there is some built in protection from downgrade/upgrading some versions of RSUs like 4.21. Good news is that I have found a work around that worked in my case. If you have nothing to lose please go on.
3. Here is the http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=433 old RSUpgrade.exe that worked in my case and doesn't included the protection. If you have a version of RSUupgrade.exe that you want to install but the flashing stops, please run it, then replace the RSUpgrade.exe (in the /windows) folder with this one downloaded , and run then it. You could also copy the files manually - you will need the RSUpgrade.cp64, monitor_ul_bs.map and monitor_ul_bs.m0 from your RSUpgrade.
5. If you do not have the RSUpgrade such as version 4.16 you can try the downloading from the following location:
Download the 4.16 from O2 and try it
Here is the link (http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda/xda_ROM_Archive.htm)
Hope this helps it certainly did the trick for me, remember though flashing the RSU is dangerous and can seriously mess up your machine.
Thanx a lot, expecially for the links....
Well, I was wondering if someone know the difference between various RSU versions (well, let's talk about O2 ones).
I actually have a 4.06 O2 RS and I think it only supports 3+1 slots in GPRS. Furthermore I think it doesn't support WModem. Am I right?
Do you know improvements of version 4.16?
Then, I would really like to know how many people succeded in upgrading the O2 radio stack.....
Cheers,

Information regarding T-Mobile shipped rom <read inside>

Hi All,
I am sure there are many people waiting for information on the whereabouts of the T-mobile UK shipped rom and I thought I would try and update the situation a little to at least let people know whats what.
After being on the phone to technical support for a while tonight I have managed to find out a little more information. The shipped rom was actually put together and flashed to the phones by a company called WDS Global who are responsible for all the major UK operators (Vodafone, O2, Orange, 3 and T-Mobile) in terms of mobile based handsets and configuring them prior to them being shipped to the relevant operator to be sent to us lucky people.
T-Mobile do not have a copy of the shipped rom as it wouldn't be something they would do (flash phones) as WDS is responsible for that, so no point phoning them up trying to get it.
The support chap (Aidan) is going to escalate an email to his bosses and thus further on to get WDS to contact me direct to see what can be done about obtaining the original shipped rom, as well as this I have contacted WDS directly asking them if they would be able to supply a copy of the shipped rom so I can put my phone back to the defaults it was shipped with as installing programs and such has messed my phone up and a hard reset does not fix it.
As soon as I have any further information or a copy of the ROM if im ever that lucky I will post here for people to use as a backup if they want to try other roms.
Aidan did say to me that we should be able to use the vanilla HTC rom on the phone with no problems as other than a few backgrounds, ringtones and the settings (which he gave me manually) and web n walk the T-mobile rom is almost identical. However this would make our warranties void in the event of any genuine hardware failure. Hence why I would prefer to have the OEM rom from T-mobile first before messing any further.
Hope this helps bring to light a few answers to questions that people may have regarding this issue.
Russ
I thought i would update people on the situation with this. I have since been in contact with WDS and they are not prepared to give out the basic rom executable at this time (meaning they dont want to give it full stop) any problems with the phone should be returned under warranty (this pretty much screws us if we flash to HTC rom) and in worse case scenario there will be a charge for putting it back to normal (in all scenarios as you void the warranty if you flash a different rom)
So for all those people on the forums that either work for WDS or T-Mobile, please do your community a big favour and leak the original shipped rom
Russ
.. and prepare to get fired lol
shhh don't tell them that or we wont ever get it
Russ
i have just rebuild it from my t-mobile uk dump
I have rebuilt my ROM after dumping it but it is not the complete image of the phone its missing parts and as much as it would probably pass scrutiny at T-Mobile HQ if it had to be sent back, I am funny like that, I would prefer to have everything as it was meant to be not a hash of things mixed together.

Orange UK - HTC TyTn II - Newbie Questions

Hi,
I have had my HTC TyTn II from Orange UK for 3 days now, I love the phone but hate the fact that Orange have removed windows live messenger, and customised the home screen (not in a good way in my opinion!).
Here are the version numbers I see as the phone starts:
R 1.27.14.32
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.81.00.00
I have been reading up on this forum for the past few days and have decided the best way to get rid of the Orange customised screen and the lack of windows live messenger would be to flash the TyTn II with a different ROM, maybe the original HTC ROM??
Obviously my main concern is bricking my phone, and also voiding the warentee, so i'm basically looking for advice on my best course of action?
I have read that the first thing I should do is load HardSPL (which I understand is a modified bootloader?) my current bootloader versions show as: (obtained by powering up the phone with the camera button pressed)
KAIS130
SPL-1.81.0000
CPLD-8
..but won't even this first step of replacing my bootloader void my warentee, or can it be reversed?? Can I take a backup of my entire phone (including bootloader) in it's current state so that it can be restored if need be?
Can anyone give me some advice / point me in the right direction of where I should start, as I am scared of breaking my new phone, as people on other sites have said they have done!!
Thanks in advance,
Regards
Richard
Read this tread:

then:
Read all the wiki's and stickies for Your device (Kaiser, right).
Use Search to find out about things whick is not clear.
Best of luck!
Personally, I would go for it.
yes to hardspl
then I wouldnt settle for a stock rom - I would go for a cooked one- like dutty's.
You will void the warranty, and as far as I know there is no way back from this.
But that is what this site is all about. Ignore the #2 poster, I can see you have read all you can and you seem to have the right idea about this. So go on.
Just do all of the HardSPL steps and then install a Cooked ROM.
You won't look back. At the moment I suggest you stay away from the 6.1 ROMs until a stable one emerges.
I have an Orange Kaiser.. the branding is really crappy compared to the HTC stuff, god knows why they changed it!
Anyway, I thought I'd retain my warranty for the time being.
So I removed the Orange Home app, installed the HTC Home with 5 buttons, the HTC WMP skin, HTC Calc skin and Kaiser Tweak - all from here and it's much better now.
I expect I could save some memory and get it running a little faster without the Orange ROM, but for the time being it's fine.

Do it.. BUT READ EVERYTHING ON THIS FORUM FIRST RELATING TO FLASHING ROMs. Once you have read it, read it again and ensure you understand it. That way it is unlikely you will brick the device.
I had my TYTN II for a week or so and then flashed it to a new ROM... would never consider going back to the orange one...unless of course it needs to go back as a faulty device. ( there are original orange ROMs to revert back to on here if you ever need them)
It's interesting to see you have the .32 radio on yours.....Mine was shipped with .29 so I may now consider flashing my radio ROM.. how are your signal strengths and GPS lock times??

With what? I had the .32 and couldn't find a copy of it anywhere. I wanted to keep a backup in case of warranty return but I inadvertently flashed the wrong rom yesterday resulting in a new radio and SIM lock
Obviously removing the SIM lock was easy enough but now I can never revert back to my original radio.
The main reason I wanted to re-flash the radio was to see if my wifi problems could be resolved since most of the reports I have seen about the wifi issue relate to UK Orange phones... No luck there either and it's really starting to stress me out
Someone has told me they might have a contact at Orange dev to get a copy of the original rom but I'll believe that when I see it
Anyway, back on topic... even though I've no way to revert back my radio for warranty return, I'm glad I'm rid of the Orange bloatware and will never look back.
Duttys rom looked and felt nice but I had Bluetooth issues with that so have gone back to stock HTC rom for now. HTC home plus the Home customiser, some new icons, quickMenu and that'll do it nicely for me
One word of advice though.... after you've installed hardSPL, CID and SIM unlocked, you'll never be able to put the device down. I don't even want to think about the amount of time I've spent flashing and playing with it since then

I have seen a couple of references to it somewhere in the 248 page Dutty V4 thread. I may try and find it when I find enough time to trawl through it...search yeilds nothing sadly.

Flashing an Orange Kaiser - Success!

Hi all,
I've been reading your threads about flashing the ROM with the 6.1 version from HTC and read that everyone seems to be having issues with flashing the Orange Branded Kaiser.
I've managed to successfully flash mine with the HTC 6.1 update and get rid of all the orange stuff. I used Olipro's SIM/CID unlocker to unlock the device and success, it works!
I made sure that I had a copy of the radio ROM and the original Orange ROM, which are all available on here just incase. The first few times the phone just booted and locked up on the splash screen, so used camera, power and soft reset to boot into bootloader and reinstalled the orange ROM, all worked fine.
Probably teaching you all to suck eggs as you've all probably achieved it, but just wanted to let you know there is hope, I am a noobie yet managed it. Just wanted to say a big thanks to all of you at XDA, especially Olipro! So, cheers! Happy cooking
gratz mate, did mine last week after reading for a couple of weeks, using dutty's wm6.1 but having problems with forwarding text messages, keeps spamming everyone the same message lol......any chance you can upload the original orange rom and radio somewhere I never made a backup
I've been using an Orange TyTn and from day 1 I have been using cooked ROMs with not a single problem EVER... The only problem I came across was the Radio issues... And that was my mistake because I didn't put a 6.1 radio on my phone... All the people that do have problems are those who cannot or choose not to READ!!! Its by no means the simplest job to flash any ROM for the first time with a TyTn... But start reading the right things and taking it ALL in and you can't go wrong... Even if you do go wrong someone has done it too and posted a fix or a guide which explains everything you need to know to get back on track...

Hear, hear - the issues for Orange users are well known and very well documented here. The main issue of SIM lock has gone away thanks to the efforts of Jocky and co. making flashing our Orange devices a much more straightforward affair.
Some time ago I made a backup of the original Orange ROM which can be found in this thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1586817&postcount=2
Note that this is the ROM and splash screen only - the Radio that Orange ships has never been released in a ROM package, there are other radios available with close(ish) version numbers - see the Radio ROM thread for more information.
we must be carefull with our rulings

I should certainly congratulate you for your successfully flashing a rom on your kaiser. This is the big news of the century ! Two big thums up
But I just don't understand how on earth you got to such all-embracing conclusion that "everyone seems to be having issues with flashing the Orange Branded Kaiser".
This is one of the strangest claims (made in someone's FIRST post) ever posted on kaiser rom dev thread.
As on Orange UK user who has flashed numerous roms on his orange branded TyTN_II (aka kaiser) with unspeakably "less" issues/problems than US/Australian/Malaysian/Germanan/Mars(!!) kaiser users , I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about mate !
Does that "everyone" include you and perhaps a friend of yours ? !!
no offence my friend, but don't you think it would be better to spend some time on the forum before shooting such generalization in the first post??
cheers
Yeah, fair enough that was a generalisation - my appologies! I'll put it down to my excitement of thinking i was a hero for fixing it after it was in bootloader for days! I just read that there seemed to be a lot of issues if you tried flashing it as there is a possibility that the phone will lock you out completely - I have heard of people entering their IMEI number in but not quite sure about it - and this seemed to be a general theme across forums...i probably just read old posts!
Anyway, it was just a thanks than any kind of technical advice! like i said in my post, i got all of the ROMS tools etc from XDA so cheers. There is also a radio rom, the original orange one is 1.65.16.65 which is on here too. I've read that this is the radio shipped with the HTC WM6.1 ROM and orange just used it in their build anyway?
The first time i tried flashing it I didn't want to risk trying Olipro's unlocker, no offence, as it said it changed the Radio which i read was the cause of the issues..but after being stuck in the splash screen for days that annoyingly said "smart mobility"..not so smart when it's a fancy paperweight.. i found out how to get into bootloader and i flashed the Original Orange rom back, and used the unlocker. All worked fine! The only issue was that i use a VPN for work and it wouldn't load the server web pages properly. Managed to fix this after somebody told me about using Schap's AdvancedConfig and changing the UserAgent. again, thanks!
So keep up the good work, you provide hope for plebs like me.

UK Vodafone Touch Pro - I HATE THAT ROM!!

Hi,
I've had my Touch Pro for about a month and I've had enough of that stupid Vodafone start-up screen and everything!
So I've been reading up on this forum and downloaded Total Commander, Advanced Config and RegEdit and I haven't seen anything on here about ROM's on a Vodafone Touch Pro...........and I'm a bit scared of bricking my phone!
So has anyone got an idiots' guide to getting a decent ROM on my Touch Pro? I mainly just want to get rid of all the Vodafone branding and then maybe start playing about with it more!
Thanks
I've just got a Vodafone one too! And was wondering the same thing
I'll await answers from the masses
I have the UK Vodafone Touch Pro and have just changed the ROM to ROMeOS 1.40.1. The speed difference is substancial, and I would recommend it if you are willing to risk your warrenty.
Just make sure you follow all the posted advice regarding flashing your rom.

I've never had a signal problem, so I wouldnt think so. Its just an OS change, not the radio.
I have a vodafone rom and I thought the slowness was normal (I mean how would I know and different?) :S If there are alternatives, I too am interested.
I had the phone for about a month before I decided to look into the other ROMs, mainly because i'd got into the habit with my old v1606 (Hermes).
After looking at a few I eventually decided to try the ROMeOS one first, and so far I havent regreted it. It seems much faster, and the changes that have been made seem to improve the operation.
You still get the initial Vodafone boot screen then an alternate ROMeOS one, however even the boot seems much faster to me (I haven't actually timed it)
The only thing I will say is that if you like to modify TF3D then uninstall the 'HTC Manila Enhancements' using Remove Programs before you install any other mods or you may get a clash as I did.
I should add that I have only flashed ROMeOS in the last 24hrs so a full 'workout' has not been given to it yet.
Also make sure you read and follow the beginners guide in the ROM Development folder before you attempt the flash.
I have my Vodafone UK Touch Pro for 2 months. Yesterday i decided to change the ROM.
There is sooo much hype about bricking the phone but all the tools out there made it very easy for me, actually i only used 2 tools!
First download and install HardSPL
Then install the rom of your choice using the supplied .exe.
Simple, where abouts you based, could poss do it for you if you want?
I did manage to change my ROM - to the afour mentioned ROMeOS ROM - which is awesome. I did download Elite ROM but it was loaded with way too many programs for me!
It is a simple process, but I still get worried!!
I would like to change my Vodafone branded device to the Romeos rom if possible but want to know how I can make a dump of my current Vodafone ROM so If for any reason the device needs to be sent back I can shove that ROM back on?
Also, when changing roms, Is there a way to not lose your text messages?
Thanks
Regards,
Neil
Yeah - use a program called PIMBACKUP. I've backed all my stuff up about 3 times now with no problems.
You can save your original ROM, I never did as you can download the stock ROM's from here.
Read the Flashing For Newbies topic - it's invaluable. It ill have the links for the downloads you need
Touch Pro's Worst Rom
Just wanted to add my vote for hating this ROM. The red theme is horrible.
I thought I would wait a bit before flashing after shelling out £370 but this ROM was totally ruining my experience. Flashed within 12 hours of the phone arriving!!!
Can anybody who has successfully removed the Vodafone Rom and installed a new one shed some light on how they managed to do it. Ive flashed roms dozens of times on my Kaiser and the Hermes and had no problems at all but so far ive had no joy with the Touch Pro. No matter how i try and install hard SPL (either via the pc or using manual install) i never get past the black screen stage and 0% progress and then when the phone restarts nothings changed and i can no longer connect to Active Sync without hard resetting the phone and restarting the computer. I cannot use the Vodaphone Rom its so awful so im desperate for some advice.
MagicAlex - I flashed my TouchPro twice and had no problems either time. I basically followed the step by step guide which is stickied to the other ROM Developement forum.
Sorry I coudn't be more help, but that's how I did it, thanks to this wonderful forum
oh yeah ive flashed mine three times now. it turned out to be some mysterious issue with my pc. after two days of getting nowhere using Vista32 i plugged my TP into my girlsfriends laptop running Vista64 & it flashed first time. I have no idea what the issue is as i flashed my Vario2 & 3 dozens of times on my pc with no problems at all. very strange!
