Hey guys
I would post my problem in the Development forum but I don't have enough posts.
I really love computerkid23's Tasteless Venom 1.0 rom but no matter what I do (trying every mms apn settings available for my carrier (3 Australia) and flashing and reflashing the rom - I did this about 10 times, and trying both Undeadk9's roms also), mms would not work for me.
I then read somewhere that some people got mms to work when they flashed their stock rom and lo and behold.. it worked.
Now I'm a little sad because I don't like the stock rom at all. My friends LOVE to send me MMS so I have to stick with the stock rom. (Boo!)
Sorry. Just need to vent a little. Hehe.
Anyway, I hope the next releases of either CK23 or Undead's roms will fix my mms issue. It might be only me who's having the problem.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Lily.
Yay! I'm happy to say that Undead's Doubleshot DeMyTouched v0.5 worked for me! I'm so happy.
Thank you Undeadk9 <3.
Lily.
I had some trouble with mms working when I was flashing a different phone a while ago. I don't know if you are using a program like titanium backup to restore things after you flash to your new rom, but if you are that could be your problem. If i restored anything mms or sms related from stock to a new rom, it would not let me send or receive mms......if I avoided restoring anything mms or sms related, it worked fine....
Hmm, I do use Titanium Backup actually. Haha. Maybe that was my problem. I'll give Tasteless Venom another go and will update back. Thanks yellowjacket.
Lily.
Taste venom doesn't use HTC setup wizard and that's where the problem lies. On sense based roms if you skip HTC setup or a ROM doesn't use HTC setup and is sense based, the ROM won't let people send or receive mms. Problem solved.

So this seems to be the standard of all standard mods for Sense 3 so I thought I'd port it first and post it for everyone to use.
Requirements
rooted
using a DEODEXED ROM
must know how to use ADB or have CWM installed
I used Paul's deodexed stock ROM to build this from.
Had my buddy jface test it out and it seems to be working, here's a screenie he sent me back
Installation
You can either flash the attached zip (untested, someone test it for me!), or push the attached SystemUI.apk to /system/app/SystemUI.apk.
MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP! Just do it. Always. It's so much easier than having to recover from a bad flash or something.
good look bro you beat me to it hahaha thanks man!!
Nice. Trying this out now. Now I can get rid of my profile widget lol.

awesome mod! thanks a lot
Thank you! Work's great!
Lily.
can this be merged with UOT? that mod themes the battery and also patches SystemUI.apk.
So only 1 sticks .
The flashable zip does not work for me.

Has anyone tested to see if this works on Sense 2.1 Gingerbread ROMS?
Sadly I'm still rocking an HTC HD2 and I'm running 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1.
I don't mind being a guinea pig after a nandroid backup but I just figured I'd ask if anyone tried it yet first.
It won't work. You will get a systemui fatal error and a force close loop.

Good to know. Does anyone here in this thread know how I can apply these same changes to my current systemui.apk?
I really like the Extended QuickSettings but I'm not too interested in running a Sense 3.0 ROM on a less than capable device like the HD2.

From the code I've looked at on Sense 3 ROMs, they typically define whether something is Sense 3 or 2 compatible. So in a real-world example when you're looking at Rosie it has two completely different implementations between 2.1 and 3 and they're both there in the code base. There was no such distinction with quick settings
Dumb ranting aside, I don't see a reason why it won't work on a Sense 2.1 device running Gingerbread. Shoot me over your SystemUI.apk and I might be able to port it. No promises, blind developing sucks

Never asked for a promise. The fact that you're willing to give it a shot, even though you don't have the same device as me is MORE than enough for me.

So, I think it IS possible, but it would take quite some time to go through and merge all the changes and match up all the IDs. I don't have the time or patience to do this as it takes a long time to communicate back and fourth for one single change, or error, etc etc.
Maybe an experienced smali hacker from the HD2 can port it over?
Sorry man

No worries. Like I said, I thought it was cool and figured it would be nice to have. I never expected you to spend a ton of time porting it over. Figured if the current one worked for Sense 2.1 then I'd try it. If not, maybe some other time. The fact that you even took a look at it was good enough for me.
Thanks again man.

Hi Everyone. I am trying to larn all this rooting and flashing thing! I have a rooted HTC Evo 4G. The Rom I am using is MIUI android 2.3.5 the kernel is 2.6.35.13-cyanogenmod. First off I need to know if this is the right rom to be using, I have a couple issues. One is that i dont have 4g anymore. Two is that my phone no longer works with my bluetooth in my car. Before it was rooted my phone hooked up to the car with no issues.
Most important like i said im tryng to learn, I had my phone rooted by someone else and have no idea how to flash a new rom or what I need to do so. So if someone could help me answer these questions and maybe direct me to where ever I need to go to learn, like flashing new rom for dummies! Thanks!!!
The reason your 4G isn't working is because it's not supported on MIUI. The ROM may be causing your bluetooth issue as well.
I can't really say if it's the right or wrong ROM, it's all about personal preference. You should probably look through the development section and see what ROM would best fit you. Also, there's several other threads on this section with people giving reviews/opinions of different ROMs..
As far as flashing ROMs, take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266885

idk too much about miui because I dont use it.
MIUI does not support 4G as of yet (and may not ever) thats just something you lose.
As for the other issues I really don't know and can't help you with
To flash a new ROM you have to do these steps.
Download the ROM of choice
Put it on your SD Card (anywhere)
On your phone turn it completley off and hold down the "Volume Down & Power" at the same time
*From this point you use the volume keys to scroll up and down and power to select options*
Go to recovery and select it
once in recovery (you will be able to tell) go down to factory/data reset and click ok
Once that is finished go to wipe cache and select it
Once that is finished go to -advanced- then wipe dalvik cache and select it
once that is done go to "install zip from sd card"
then go to "choose zip from sd card"
find the ROM you downloaded and select it and flash.
Depending on the ROM it will take from 1-5 minutes to complete flashing. Once done just go to reboot at the top
It is also recommended to do the "wiping" steps 2-3 times (steps 7-9)

thank you for your help. I have been reading and reading and I have a better idea as to what i need to do. Im in the process of downloading Mikshifted v1.6. I did not see anything about weather it supports bluetooth or 4g, do you have a suggestion as to what rom does if this does not? And do i need a different Kernnal?
Thank you!
MikShifted G v1.6 is fully functioning. Everything works, 4G, Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi Tethering, USB Tethering, everything works. Plus it has a lot of extras. One thing I will say it cannot at the present time be OC'd. No you do not need to flash a different kernel with it. Believe me when I tell you it does not need it.

Everything should be working with MikShifted ROMs, as far as I know. Also, there's no custom kernels for Gingerbread Sense ROMs until htc releases the source code.

Oc'd is just short for overclocked. Basically, until htc releases the source you can't use any overclocked kernels so you'll have to run at 800mhz, but MikG is surprisingly quick for running stock

Very true . Thanks to all the great Devs on the Shift community we have choices to suit our personal preferences .
another issue for the newbie!
I recently flashed the mik rom v1.6 and loved it everything went smoothly until i realized I am not getting any text messages. and before i go back to the miui rom I was using i figured I would ask if anyone else had this issue?
Thanks
I did switch the rom and still have the same issue any suggestions?
My personal preference for ROM is CyanogenMod (CM). It has everything a person can need and more, but its not noob friendly by any means (I learned that the hard way! Muchos thanks to Root Master Crump for taking me off the straight and narrow!). I've tried a few other ROMs and its really all about personal preference, as others have said. I like being able to customize out the wazzoo, but if you're looking for speed/performance and ease of use, Mik is very solid.

You could try updating your prl and see if that helps.I think it's probably an issue with Sprint and not the ROM though. Maybe post something in the MikG thread and see if others are having issues.
I have talked to sprint and its not on their end. I have doing alot of reading and not on answer on how to get my texting back. I tried going back to mIui and still not texts coming in. Im lost any ideas out there?
You need to update your PRL and Profile. Then reboot the phone, but you have to be on Sense to do that. Also, as soon as you finish the flashing process. Send yourself an SMS/MMS. Before you start loading things onto the phone. That way it will help you narrow down the issue. So your sure it's not something your loading on the phone causing the issue.

seems that this is the rom's fault.I suggest that you install a new sms app from market.IF this doesnt work then revert to your stock rom or flash another rom that is fully functional(be sure to read the components of each rom before flashing )
Yeah it was a mixture of two thing. ROM mms/sms file wasn't loading right and I wasn't wiping/factor reset as I was first told. I flashed the updated version of bliss since 3.5 and it is amazing and for it still in betaish version its unbelevable .

Hello everyone. Long reader, new member of this wonderful community!
I rooted my phone back in October using the instructions that some of you nice people supplied. I currently use HyperSensation ROM and I am willing to move to ICS based ROM. I researched and read loads of pages to make this decision.
My decision is to download the firmware and use the Virtuous Inquisition. I have a problem though... When I go to download those 2 files, the the mirrors are Megaupload, which some of you know got shutdown by US gov. Can anyone generous enough upload the ROM and the Firmware to another mirror?
This is very much appreciated.
PS: I am posting here because XDA says that I do not have enough privileges to post in the Android Development section.

Strange... Thank you very much for the links. I must have been doing something else.
I'm using this ROM too.
It's a great ROM.
I'm new to the forums too, so can't post my questions on the dev page yet.
Could you get your voice mail to work properly? I hold down 1 and it tries to make a call, but then hangs up.
Just to let you know the dialer app is still using the HTC dialer rather than the stock.

Voicemail working fine over here. It makes that *hanging up sound* and then proceeds to voice mail.
The dailer is also the aosp version; at least for me. Trying reflashing?
Well after playing around with the rom and ICS, I switched back to my hypersensation(gingerbread) with Launcher pro. Sensation is just ram starved when running ICS. Plus I get exactly same gaming performance.
I dislike many things about the ROM, those such are wifi calling(I want to uninstall that crap, but can't. Someone is sending voicemails endlessly to the point that the experience is nerve racking.
I will try ICS at a later time.
you can use titanium backup to uninstall bloatware.

So, I have done plenty of research and come across dead links and scary ads. And I have been flashing and flashing.. with no success. First, let me explain why i'm even typing this... because Miui, in my 2 day experience with it has been the cleanest rom ever, and i love it BUT......
I started with miui.com but since the Miui Devs haven't made a stable release for HTC Evo Shift they don't have a rom available to download there. Then i went to miui.us which was filled with roms! the only versions of Miui for HTC Evo Shift available are 2.3.23 and 2.3.30 and this would seem okay but unfortunately neither of those versions work correctly. And they don't contain just simple bugs. the PHONE app doesn't work unless 3g data is turned off (When trying to receive calls a "com.android.phone has stopped working" message will appear and it will when trying to call as well. after that it resets mobile network). i've been looking everywhere but i can't find a fix that will work.
I found a fix on a thread that promised to do the trick by replacing "framework.jar" in the /system/framework .zip file for installing. But i tried twice and came across the same problem
I just want a stable version of Miui for my precious HTC Evo Shift. Miui Pyromod ROM fixes the phone problem and it works on daily bases just fine but it still lacks stability. I WANT A PERFECT MIUI PORT FOR SPEEDY.
...and this is when you come in:
Do you guys have any links(more researching), ideas(ways to fix the phone app problem), will to help, or even fix the rom for us:laugh:?!
I have the last MIUI.us release for the shift with the phone app fix applied on my computer, I can try to upload it later for you.
Edit: I found it on my windows partition and starting to upload now, will be a minute though because I am downloading gigs worth of stuff at the same time.
