How would I go about obtaining a cable that is a male micro usb on one end, and a female full size usb on the other? I wanna connect a usb keyboard to my HP Touchpad, and I read an article saying that the TP has usb host support, I just need the cable.
I doubt you can buy a cable like that, but you can certainly make one yourself.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
how would I go about make the said cable?

Does anyone know if I purchased one of these can the Transformer then read memory cards or use other USB peripherals?
no one has tried yet, try it for us and find out!
I would if I had the tablet. If it does it would be a major plus.
Well we know for a fact that the 40 pin connector that is used to hook up the tablet to PC and charger through USB allows for USB host, we just don't know if it would be so simple that all we have to do is use a female to female converter.
I would think that it would work, because that's how you transfer files to the tablet. Not sure about peripherals though. If this does work it would easily make this better then any tablet.
if I can get myself to put down the money and if someone posts a link I'll try it.

I meant usb female to USB female since I don't have anything with microUSB just wanna test host.
Just bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BSN4UY female to female adapter, I'll test USB host I guess
The tablet only has a micro, so I guess I don't understand why you would buy that item.

The tablet doesn't have a micro port, it has a proprietary 40 pin to USB male cable with a proprietary 40 pin socket. So you need atleast reg female to reg female to get host at the minimum.
Never mind just figured it out. You are going to use the micro usb cable that can with the tablet and hook up the female to female. Sorry.
I thought the tablet did have a micro usb host?
only ports are the proprietary connector used for hooking it up to the PC/charger/dock and mini HDMI out. But the proprietary connector supports USB host.
i have found similar threads in other sections.. but i am sure if it would work with motorla xoom.. so the plan is simple; i will cut off 2 old usb cables and i will collect the female ports and connect them together.. then i ll plug this on to the male usb part of the regular motorola cable.. the question is; will it work?

What are you trying to accomplish?
If you want to connect something to the Xoom in USB host mode you just need a "real" USB/OTG cable/adapter-a prime example is the Motorola Camera Connection Kit which is only a small cable with micro usb male and USB female ends. You can't use the Xoom usb cable for host mode...it doesn't have the correct pin configuration.
Same view here, forget bodging a physically correct cable, the pin outs count, buy a USB host cable, the Archos one works.

Hello,
I found an accessory set (3 items) that can let you use a keyboard and/or mouse with your Atrix 2. I havn't tested this yet but I'm pretty sure this works
Items required:
OTG USB Cable
USB Male to Male Cable
AC Powered USB Hub
Once you bought them and recieved them, you can connect the OTG to the phone and the Hub to the male-to-male and the male-to-male to the Hub and the whatever to the Hub and the Hub to the wall and you should have it working
If not, Then just post here/PM me and I'll help (If you willing to take a chance to purchase more accessories )
Cheers and good luck!!!

Did A2 supports OTG without kernel mod?
Sorry, i am new to this site but I wanted to know if I can use my standard USB charger, short out certain pins to be able to go into otg mode, I made my own female to male cable so I'm happy, but I was wanting to know if it was possible.
No. OTG uses different pins

You most definitely can, but you have to mod the 30-pin connector itself -- it can't be done on the other end of a USB cable. You will find all the info you need here:

Hello guys
First of all I will excuse me for my bad English.
I've a question about the use of the USB OTG system. I'd like to use a general 3xUSB (female) to MicroUSB (male) cable in this way: 1 numpad/key arrows, 1 mouse and 1 port for charging the Android phone itself at a power point. Is this possible with the general cables in the stores? So not, does it exists and where must I pay attention(I don't really mean the OTG Y cables, because I can't find one with 2 USB (female) ports and I don't know where the energy gain from the Micro USB (female) port and charger is good for (Recharging phone or powering the USB port)
The reason I'll ask this is becuz I like to play Oldschool Runescape play easier on my mobile phone with XDSL Wheezy than I do now. I hope the mouse and numpad/key artows work already with it.
Greetings Delelith and thanks in advance!
