Hello everyone,
I'm using HTC Desire S (Android 2.3.3). I've been having a weird problem lately. When my screen goes off, I stop getting notifications after 10 minutes or so. I've never experienced such a problem before. My phone was running smoothly. I used to get notifications from Whatsapp even when my phone was on sleeping mode... I started not to get notifications from any application unless I turn the screen on and wait for 5 minutes or directly click on the application wait for it to establish connection with my mobile data. I guess my mobile data dies when my phone is on sleeping mode or something. I'm not sure though because my mobile data connection is always on but somehow applications lose connection with my mobile data until my phone wakes up. Can you help me with that? I've installed an application called Juice Defender awhile ago but I deleted it since it messed up my phone. I also tried to reset my phone but still no luck... Is there anything I can do?
Thanks
do you use "Juice Defender" ?
if so, try to disable it... i had the same problem (with other device... not the Desire S) and it been solved by disabling "Juice Defender"
Not sure what could be causing that if it persists after a factory reset.
Have you looked at using Tasker instead of juice defender? I also found juice defender quite buggy, and it was in searching for an alternative that I found tasker. I think it has a free trial period. Instal a plugin called synker. Your can then set tasker to periodically force a sync of your accounts. My profile forces a sync for
2 minutes every 15 minutes, then turns auto sync off (if my screen is off). Works well and saves battery too.
Taker is quite tricky to get used to, so if you struggle, get those two installed then send me a PM and I'll send you the tasker profile. Import it and your problem will be solved!

On my DS after the phone is left asleep overnight - I never turn it off as it's my alarm clock - I frequently get "NO SERVICE" and have to reboot.

Im having problem with my sensation, I use juice defender app to save the battery, it will turn off the data connection when it goes to sleep, but like after 2 hours when I unlocked my phone, the data won't connect anymore, I have to restart the phone, never happen when I used the g2, solutions anyone? Thanx
So, my friend recently got this phone...
Its not even a week since he bought it....
We use WhatsApp Messenger to chat but there is one problem.
His Data Network is always on but when he going to sleep he keeps his Data Network "ON" but it actually goes into something like sleep mode....
My messages don't get delivered to him via WhatsApp.....
It's like every time he turns off his phones display, his Data Network goes onto sleep mode, doesn't matter What time of the day it is......
Does anyone have had this problem before and is there any solution to it?
By default the background data is switched off. You can change it in the setting.

Hi,
interesting thing during my test of battery tonight (although it happend only once yet). I woke up (sync off for the night) and I saw I had no data connection (2G). Trying to manually sync didnt help, RestartConnections app didnt help, manually turning mobile data off and on didnt help, even restart didnt help. Then, after few minutes after the restart, I enabled autosync and it did successfully "push thru", E icon appeared near the signal bar and connection was there. Weird. I had Nexus S for few months now and it never happened.
Also, I was using Tasker to manually enable autosync for 2 minutes every 15 minutes and check for wifi every 15+3 minutes (so it wont interefere with the sync). But syncs went ok and no profile of mine has to do anything with mobile data. So I dont believe its relevant.
I woulndt be probably speaking about this but I use the same nandroid backup rom for all my testing (I restore it during the evening so the battery tests would all begin with the same software combination) and this never happened.
I bought a Sony Smartwatch one week ago and I am using it with an HTC One X. I installed Twitter and RSS on it. I configured both apps to sync every 15 minutes. I noticed that new tweets did not appear on my watch so I went to look what the problem was. I saw that the data connection was not active. I thought it was Juice Defender that did that so I disabled JD.
Tried again, still no luck. Data connection was gone again. I found the problem; it was the power saver mode from the One X that was activated. I deactivated it and the tweets started flowing in, and synching took place every 15 minutes without any problems at all. But... the battery of my One X was getting drained like crazy. So I had to turn off the data connection.
I've now been searching for days to find the most energy efficient way to still get new tweets on my watch every 15 minutes without having a dead battery after a few hours. What I basically need to find is a way for the One X to activate the data connection, sync all SmartWatch apps and then turn off the connection again.
I tried configuring Juice Defender to activate the data connection every 15 minutes for 1 minute. I thought that the SmartWatch app would synchronize as soon as Juice Defender would activate the data connection but this was not the case. Apparently the SmartWatch app tries to sync exactly every 15 minutes and when it fails, it doesn't wait for the data connection to get activated. It just gives up and waits another 15 minutes instead of waiting until there's an active data connection. That's quite lame actually, and I don't understand why Sony didn't think about that.
I don't have anymore ideas as to what I can do now... Anyone here who has the solution I'm looking for? I really like the watch and it would be awesome if I'd find a great solution to this problem I'm having. In the meantime, I'm just synching the apps manually on my phone every now and then.
Well the solution would be to have the data connection activate in the 14th minute, and drop in the 16th. You could also use Tasker, which could activate the data connection a few seconds before twitter updates, and end shortly after (maybe 15-30 seconds after it starts.)
Hi guys.
I'm having problem with app called Smart Connect from Sony.
The problem started when I bought NFC Tags and start to use them.
But the best thing is that I don't even use that app for tag's due to not recognising them.
For a period 3 and a half hours my battery went down from 100% to 41% even when I didn't use my phone.
I only used it for 20 minutes to check facebook, e-mails etc. Also NFC so on for a period of 1 minute or two ?
Just to make change's at phone when touching to tag.
I'm on stock 2.17 without any customization, stock kernel, rooted, bl unlocked. Also don't know why but Smart Connect is showing at the list that uses 40% and Facebook which is another problem is 30%...
I even didn't have problem with Facebook app till yesterday... It always work and even it didn't eat that much. It never goes more than 3% of use a the battery stat's. Phone is active for all the time, even when wifi is turn off. No I don't use network data. I'm having full network signal also I don't use stamina but maybe the problem is in app called Snapdragon BatteryGuru ?
I really stupid, haven't made any changes at phone and battery it goes a lot.
