Need help creating LTE toggle shortcut - Verizon Droid Charge

I was trying to create a custom toggle using launcher pro, but it seems every time I create a short cut to "band mode", I get a force code. Anyone got an idea of how to make this work?

or there is a pay widget that directly turns on/off 4g (it's not just a shortcut to the settings screen) called 4g LTE toggle for the Charge which works super & is only a few bucks.
~John

Use "anycut". Use the option for mobile networks, it'll take u directly to the place to toggle 3g/4g

That can mess your phone up pretty bad and require a factory reset to fix. Stay away.

Erm, I would like to know how you think that...It's basically a shortcut to the menu to switch to CDMA/LTE mode.

Hows it going to that, all it is is a pretty shortcut to the settings screen??
I used it until I bought the pay widget and it worked just fine.

I know, and I am not sure why it did it, but it did. There was nothing I could do to turn the data back on outside of the Factory reset.

LTE switch works fine here.

LTE switch always worked for me. I literally is just a shortcut to your settings.

There are no GPS issues with the Charge like there were with the early Galaxy S phones. If you are having GPS issues, you may have a defective phone.

agreed, even with a custom rom humble 1.25 I think. My GPS compared to my old captivate w custom which is way better than stock.... side by side today in LA was night and day difference in favor of the Charge.
Download "FasterFix" from the market
find a nice server in your area or use a custom one like supl.google.com
If you're in Texas, use "tick.uh.edu" you will get a lock almost instantly
after you make the changes, reboot your phone
The GPS on the charge works, but it still sucks. Even in my car I have to damn near hold it out the window to get a lock. Never had this issue with an HTC or Motorola which could easily get a GPS lock inside a building.
It works, but it could (should) be better.
fasterfix freezes my phone
After you have taken the latest ota make sure you wipe data. There was a gps problem up until the ee4 update. The first lock might take a little while but after that it should be almost instant outdoors.

Gummy charged GBE... i havent tried the froyo roms yet but i might switch to one later tonight.
well if you're trying to get better GPS and you can't use fasterfix (still have to be rooted to try this)
/ data/ gps
with root explorer long click and hit "open in text editor"
change port to 7276
server is "supl.google.com" (DO NOT PUT WWW)
Sometimes it can help to change from STANDALONE mode to "MSBASED"
hit menu, save and exit (Don't worry if you're using Root explorer it will automatically create a backup)
Reboot your phone and go outside

Yes you are correct, oh and I just switched to Humble and got the blackscreen. I guess FasterFix is only working with Eclipse and Gummy charged 1.9 Fe
i tried GPS Status (used the app when i had my fascinate and it worked great) and it's pretty much immediate fix. Then i can go to gnav it pinpoints me pretty well.. it's a few meters off. I think before i flashed gb it was more accurate but a little slower to fix.

Rooted, Data widget won't let me turn off 4g now

My buddy rooted my phone tonight, I still have to read up on the whole process, as I'm clueless to most of it.
I tried to download the Data Widget so my battery life won't go down the toilet. Now it says it can't alter data when I try to turn it on. How can this issue be resolved?
Thank you

The best app for turning on/off your data or the radio is "LTE On/Off" from the market.
If you're referring to just your mobile data, it would depend on your ROM. Need the specs.
I was looking for this app to turn on/off only data, but allow phone calls and texting.
Lets see, from what I can gather, and he didn't say much during it, is that I have gingerbread, and I have the omfgb rom currently. Does this help?
Thank you

I'm not on an AOSP ROM. I'm on a Sense based ROM but from what I gather, JuiceDefender would automatically turn off your mobile data when the screen is off.
I don't use it so I can't personally vouch for it but that's what I found via Google.com
Well now I downloaded that app and I think I picked the wrong option and now I can't get 4g, and I deleted the app thinking that would fix it but I'm still not seeing 4g at the top. I'm seeing bars, but not 4g.

You'll have to play with the options.
If you're not seeing 4G, 3G or 1X in the top bar, then your mobile data is off.
You'll be able to receive phone calls/texts but no data.
Well I went to setting and wireless/networks but there is nothing there. Where would I find these settings?

I would not be the expert on that app. Here's the link to the OMFGB thread.
Once you get over 10 posts or so, you can post in there and ask them.
They're the experts on that AOSP ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1132818
Thank you, that is much appreciated.
On another note, I was able to find the location in settings and put my "preferred" back to CDMA + lte/evdo (or something like that.) After a reboot, the 4g is back.
I'll still hunt for help on the lte on/off app.
Thanks again

I had the same issue, never found a solution. Issues with data and voice so I reflashed stock.
It looks like this GUY was continuously having this same issue.
Get the the Phone Info app from the market and change your Network type to LTE/CDMA/Evdo and see if that helps. If not, back up your data and try a fresh flash on CM10 after.

Maybe this is crazy, but I've always had that symbol when I'm connected to a 4G network
From the manual:
4G LTE Connection: Phone is active on a 4G LTE system. The arrows are colored when data is being transferred.

Try connecting to a WiFi network - if the 4G indicator does not go away in that case, something is odd.

I've always had that since I bought the phone. If you change Google location service to off it changes the symbol slightly. Has something to do with some location crap.

Never had that constant symbol on mine. Your GPS signal will not stay on the whole time, only comes on when looking for a connection and as someone else mentioned it is in the left corner. I do turn off the Verizon locator option so not sure if that has anything to do with it.
thats the e911 icon and i believe its removed on most custom roms.
https://vzwsupport.jive-mobile.com/#jive-discussion?content=/api/core/v2/discussions/237187
what did you get fixed on it from them? i still need to fix my charge port...
Oh, whoops - I didn't read your post correctly, the "before" 4G didn't register in my brain, sorry.
From the manual, that symbol is:
GPS Location Active: One or more GPS location services are active.
. . .
Location services
Location services control your device's use of GPS signals. Some apps may require one or more location services be turned On for full app functionality. GPS signals may be affected by your surroundings, including:
• Buildings
• Tunnels or underground structures
• Weather conditions
• High-voltage or electromagnetic fields
• Tinted windows
Important! Verizon Wireless values your privacy. Because of this, your phone is defaulted to only acquire your location when you dial 911. To use Location-Based Services, you must first enable location services on your phone.
E911
E911 location service is standard on all mobile phones, to allow sharing of your GPS location with emergency personnel when you make a call to emergency services (such as 911). This setting is not configurable.
Click to collapse
The E911 symbol is the primary graphic, the radio waves next to it implies that other location services are also active.
Go to Settings -> Location Services and check/uncheck to see what happens with that symbol. Mine is on constantly and I have the Standalone + Google locations services checked. If you uncheck all location options, the E911 symbol will remain.
This is normal operations.

To piggy back off of LordOfAngels,
Do you have Automatic Date & Time turned on? You can check this by going into Settings -> Date & Time.
Make sure you also have Automatic time zone turned on as well.
If that doesn't work, try reconnecting to your carrier's network.
in Settings under "Wireless & Networks" tap More. Then tap Mobile Networks -> Network Operators
Wait for it to load and select your carrier. That should sort you out.
If the above doesn't work, try reflashing whatever ROM you're on. If you're on Stock, you might want to bring your device in a carrier's store because that should not be happening if you have automatic date & time and you haven't altered your phones firmware.
