So the SNES emulator in the marketplace is fantastic. It runs super smooth, and will register more than one button press at a time!
But all the button skins are landscape, which makes them way spread out across your Touchpad. The odd thing is that there are options for portrait mode, but none of the skins work in portrait mode.
I was wondering if someone knows how we can get more skins added to this, or suitable alternatives. I can create a png overlay, but I'm sure there is a little more involved in this.
smooth?
not really
Don't know what you're running but mine is running without any frame-dip issues. Buttery smooth. Maybe that is because you haven't done all the patches/hacks?

agreed, preferably a skin with smaller buttons. it feels like the aspect ratio of the skins are ideal for a phone (when shrunk down) but on a tablet it is WAY too big (try doing a running jump in mario, ridiculously hard)
Mine runs just fine without hacks except those damn skins! I can't wait until they port android to this thing.
Agree with the comment that the buttons are sized/spaced for a phone. On the touchpad, they are way too far apart.
Anyone come up with a good touchpad skin yet?
Oh, and mine is buttery smooth as well. No hacks... just installed right from the catalog.

I've been googling all day to find a good gameboy (in particular gbc, I sure would love to play Link's Awakening DX on my phone!) emulator. Is there a good one out there that supports landscape mode?
Fwiw I have a Hermes.

landscape is nonsense, imo, remember resolution gb/c? regardless of that, portrait is comfy.
reason i want landscape isn't for added screen real estate--but for playability. using the pad on my left and the buttons that are normally on the top as a/b works wonderfully for nes... much better than any other configuration i've run into. Thanks though, nothin.
Its interesting to find something like this, though i had my ti's back in high school days, for some strange reason i haven’t ran into this only a while back, the reason is i miss my ti89 but i hve my tilt with me all the time, i do not carry my ti89 but this puts any ti on the pocketPC device
It does work but for the smaller screens then PDA's some of the skinning needs to be tweaked IMO and there are almost no other skins for it, not to mention this was done for 2003
I wonder if anyone has the skills to make nice skins for this, i know the ti86 skin is lacking and the ti89 rom seems a bit slow on my tilt :/ so for basic things i would like to use ti83/ti86
what i would love is, more functionality, like a press and hold to zoom in on a selected area and to press + hold and zoom say on the screen...
also a landscape format would be very nice so that those with keyboards could use the keys
the source for this would be nice, but i dont see it, maybe some dev's can contact those individuals? and open up that project? as pda/pocketPC's are getting pretty powerful and with bigger screens
get it at http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/309/30978.html

BTW, don't forget to also read my dedicated bible in the Wiki.
Hello everyone!
Few days ago I found Morphgear for HD2 by blutz (great app!). As I wasn't really satisfied with existing virtual gamepads (I'm not saying they're bad - in fact, they're great, but they just didn't met my preferences ), I decided to make my own PlayStation style skin for Morphgear (using some other skins floating around the forum).
For now, I'm really satisfied with it. I know, that it could be better - I plan to try to make action buttons a little bigger when I have some spare time. I would also like to make another skin - PSP style (and maybe three different skins for oldschool gamers - SNES, Genesis and GBA style ).
Here is some technical info about this skin:
- orientation should be set to east
- screen size should be 130-135% for Genesis and 150% for SNES and GBA
- in zip, there is one .bmp file and three .txt files - one for Genesis, SNES and GBA
Installation:
1. Unpack.
2. Put every file from archive (one .bmp and three .txt) to [Morphgear install dir]\skins on your HD2.
3. In Morphgear global options set screen orientation to east.
4. In each module options set screen size to desired values (130-135% for Genesis, 150% for SNES and GBA) and choose proper skin from list.
5. Enjoy
You're feedback would be great! Please, tell me, what you like and what you don't like in my skin - any suggestions would be highly appreciated!
Have fun!
UPDATE: Added bigger buttons version.

Just perfect! Just perfect! Nothing more to say! Thank you!

I added a quick installation guide to the first post. Hope it helps
For some reason I cant get morphgear to go into full screen mode with the skin. If I put on the default gamepad that comes with morphgear it works but this doesnt, can anyone tell me why?
@NSAgent
Are you sure that you run it in east screen orientation? If yes, I had a similiar problem once, I had to do a softreset - after it everything worked fine.

Funny I reset and now its closing morphgear when I attempt to go full screen! WTF I worked a few days ago I just started having this problem recently.
Like I said though the default game pads work fine, its just when I try any of the skins I find on here, wierd.
Help!
Can't work for my HD2 ..
If I set orientation to East -> No thing show up .... only game's screen .
After I set it to North -> Show the Game Pad bug only half screen (can't See the A, B buttom)..
Help!!!!!
Thanks...

I have similar problem like yours, untill I use Morhpgear2.4.09_HD2v0.8.cab, so the skin by Gleniu works perfect.
is it for play apps/games in htc hd2 or for another gamepad for play console games?
what apps/games we can use for this?
nice good one
i want a snes one please!!!
PSP Style Pad
I just did a bad thing! So I was looking at this gamepad and it's V.Cool - It got me to thinking about a PSP and... Hey presto!
This is just an edited button set based on Gleniu's and my own addition of some space and a pretty pic.
Comes in two flavours - North and East, I think you can work that out
(Oh Ok - to be used depending on orientation)
Hope you enjoy and thanks to Gleniu for the inspiration!
Please note that I do not claim to be clever enough to map buttons for this game - as I said I borrowed a bit from Gleniu.
It is with respect that I post this in this thread and give full credit to Gleniu for doing cool stuff!
This is pretty sweet!. It sucks we can't go full screen landscape on the HD2 but this is the next best thing. Works great with the modded Morphgear!
has anyone else experienced some 'lag' or slowdown when playing in landscape mode? it occurs when i use this pad.. but its not the only landscape pad where it occurs... in portrait mode it does not have that same slowdown every now and then... which is why i play in portrait.. but i would like to play landscape but the slowdown is kinda annoying... is there anyone with similar issues? or even a fix? maybe something i should change in my settings...

You most assuredly can! If you put it in Window size mode, it looks a touch stretched BUT it will definitely work...
It would be cool though if the game window could go to 200% and 250% - that way we could have the pad showing each side of the game (with a small border) I'm tempted to make a pad that is designed to "peak" out of each side for playing "Auto Scale" on the WVGA you get a pit of spare screen at each side.

Yeah I noticed that it can go full screen but then you cant see the pad. Still works but irritating nonetheless. Yes please if you can get the pad into the small available area when Auto Scale is selected that would be awesome.
Otherwise great effort

Can I gently draw your attention to my other pad -->
Ok so I posted some bit's of this already but I have refined the original "Proof of concept" design to something a bit more useable.
It annoyed me that I could not see the buttons in Landscape mode but I could see the sides of the screen when it is set to Autoscale. This set me to try and make a pad that would fit into the tiny slivers of screen left in landscape mode with "Autoscale" set.
This pad needs to be used in "AutoScale" mode on a WVGA screen such as an HD or HD2 This setting leaves a slither of screen each side of the screen that I have used to show the button placement. Don't get me wrong, you can't fit a Dpad in that area BUT you can easily mark top and bottom left of it and that's a start.
I find that my thumb is a bit lazy and I struggle a bit to use a square DPad, because of this I have squished it a bit to a more suitable rectangular shape, have a go and tell me if it's no good - If you imagine that the visible "strip" at the side is 1/4 of the DPads width then you should get it pretty easily. Please take a look at the attached picture though, I have made this pad a slightly odd shape because I find that I use left and right a cack load more than I use up and down. It may not be great for all games but I have found that it suits my thumb better than a standard equal layout. If you hate it then try using my original pad found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6339454#post6339454
Other than this the Start (ST) Select (SE), A, B, R1 and R2 buttons are all visible at the edge of the screen!
Currently the GBA pad is the only one I have done but I could easily modify this concept to cover all of the different systems - The only reason I haven't is that I only really play GBA games on my phone.
There is a readme included but I'd like some feedback so please bring it on!
Hey man, good job. I like the v1 rather than this, i find it harder to hit the up arrow with the new one, but it's not the reason why i'm wiriting this.
Both your pads makes the game laggy when i tap the white (unassigned) space. Other pads I've tried never did that. Any idea how to selve this? Or am i the only one experiencing this lag?
is multitouch available for morphgear?

Hi I find that they all lag a bit, it seems to be the way that the Multitouch is implemented (I don't think it's Blutz, rather the original Morphgear crew), I find that when I have 2 buttons pressed all is fine but if I press NE and A (so 3 buttons reported to Morphgear) it lags until I release all buttons. This is just my laymans observation.
I could try producing an ultra light version to see if that helps... I think my skin is >2mb
Could you give me some examples of ones that don't cause it and I'll have a look, I wouldn't be overly surprised to find it was something I had done wrong. What we really need is the capacity to set white = NULL!

Edited by ME!!*************
Hi Guys!!
I've updated all my pads, Landscape and Portrait to have the new D-Pad and most have the new colours (which I find work a little better)
I'll keep on tweaking, but for the mo, I'm pretty happy with it.. Let me know if you have any issues.
Set your screen to 150%, will fit into the landscape window perfectly on all my pads.
For the new portrait pad I've recently uploaded, set screen size to auto.
These skins are ABSOLUTELY fantastic for games like Street Fighter2.
I can now do Ha-Do-Kens AND shoryukens ALL THE WAY ACCROSS THE SCREEN no probs!!!! I tried all the other skins I could get my hands on but found it too difficult to do the moves with them, so decided to try making my own with a modified keypad pattern, works a charm!
I've also extended the key-press areas to fit where fingers "would" go to by mistake for the buttons etc, and eliminated all blank space on the touch sensor part, so that you don't get unwanted key presses...
I've used the same d-pad skin and made button skins for the SMS and Mega Drive.. The SNES skin works for NES and GBA..
Try them out and let me know what you think.. If you have suggestions or games that for some reason don't work as well as others, please let me know.. I'd like to keep tweaking it..
I've used this pad flawlessly with..
SNES
Street Fighter 2
Final Fight
Mortal Kombat
Battletoads
RtypeIII
Star Fox
SMS
R-Type
Shinobi
Secret Command
Mega Drive
Golden Axe
Woooohooooo!!!
Downloading it !
Thx !

Hi!
To get multitouch to work you need a HD2 or a device with a screen that has multi touch (capacative)
Copy the skin files into the skins directory of morphgear using your file explorer.
In the set-up for the gaming console within morphgear, select the skin as your... skin..
Is this what you were after?
works perfect. but i would like them working at landscape mode so that there are more room for fingers. thanks man.
thanks !!!
tis a very good snes pad, cheers matey
will this work on the Omnia (i910)? thanks.
The best pad there is for Morphgear, thanks for sharing!
The only thing I need in Morphgear now is good Genesis audio support, it's rubbish now Sonic needs sound.
Any input is welcome!
i couldnt get the pad to show up in the select skin.what do i do?
yeah, best ever. I really love it, could you make it in landscape mode? the button A, B, X, Y is near the navigation button, therefore sometimes it makes hardly to play some games. thank you.
Vast improvement. Still difficult to run and jump in Donkey Kong Country, but a hell of a lot more playable than what I was using.
awesome skin, works really well.
i wish there was a landscape version though
Hey guys!
Thanks for all the feedback.. I'm gonna make a landscape versin after seeing everybodies posts..
This week I'm a little flat out with work, so I'll do a REALLY quick chop up of my portrait on and slap it together to see what it's like, (which I will probably put up tomorrow)..
I'll re-assess the landscape and spend a little more time making a better landscape for next week..
Hope this keeps the troops happy

MOrphgear Multitouch
sorry I meant how to use the Pad literally for Multi touch, to do the moves like dragon punch/Hadoken etc?
If I am not mistaken Morphgear does not support true multitouch so I cannot do the Moves as I would with a joystick.
regards
Ps: I have a HD2 with Artemis 26.1 Rom
Here's a quick one
Ok.. Here is a REALLY quick make up of the landscape version..
It's not finalised at all! But should be pretty functional.
I need to re arrange the buttons a little and re-do the graphics, but please test it and let me know how it goes and what sucks about it.
I will do it up properly over the weekend...

Thanks! but will there be a Genesis landscape version too?
I feel really silly for asking this but it's driving me mad... When I exit the settings screen (by pressing the X button), i get out of the app, so none of the setting changes are saved. But I really can't find any other way out! Could someone help me with this, please?
I am using a windows 6.5.3 build, so the X is on bottom, of course, @latest ChuckyRom.
Thanks!
