nexus s version of oneclick? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey folks,
Have to send my wife's nexus s in as the vibration motor stopped working. Her phone is not rooted and we need to back up the app data. Is this possible? I know on my captivate I have titanium but I can root/unroot in a second with superoneclick. Is there something similar for the nexus? I've looked around and seen most methods using custom firmware and adb. This device will have to go back to sammy so don't want to pooch the warranty.

Unless you have a lot of apps with important data then I suggest you just wipe the phone and send it to Samsung.
I wipe once a week without backing up my phone, and besides, does't the phone do that automatically?
also: WRONG SECTION

i'm discussing rooting/unrooting so this would be the right section. Been reading numerous guides and there seems to be a number of ways to root/unroot. does anyone know a guide to the easiest version? I am not installing a custom rom, but only want root access, run titanium backup, then get back to an unrooted device.

fastboot unlock the bootloader
flash the custom recovery CWM (- make a nandroid backup of unrooted image
copy the su file to sd card
flash it through CWM to get root ,
install titanium backup to backup apps
after that , flash recovery again to make nandroid restore (to back to unrooted condition )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007782
see this guide, after flash recovery , make nandroid backup first to keep the unrooted image.

You don't need root to backup data. Just pull your /data folder with adb

BTW it is possible restore a backup using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339640 , in restore mode and saving that backup to SD?
install cwm and backup using it.
and are you sure that if I backup via CMW I will be able to restore my stock rom from this backup after I will have tried any other custom rom?
I have already CMW 4 on my system, after a recovery power on, I have selected backup and it putted the backup on sd folder named CMW/backup...I know I can restore it with the restore command, but I am not sure if it will work, or if will BRICK my phone
yes, i myself have used it.

There is a way to know if the backup is not corrupted?
image doesnt work...
it must have completed successfully, or it would have shown an error.
back the backup to a safe location on your pc.
backup was fully done, and I ave already saved on my pc...so now may you tell me a couple of very good custom rom without bugs?
last thing...on my backup stock I have my all originals "PDA S5670XWKQA PHONE S5670XWKQ3 CSC S5670ITVKQ3 ANDROID 2.3.4" and I can restore all with CWM ? right? TY for ur patience
IMO,
RazoDroid, Chocobread are the best.
Creed's ROM is kinda good too.

After a custom rom, install Titanium Backup, open it, press the left button, select Batch, select All restore and follow instructions.
Previously, when doing a backup, select Backup All apps + data.
To Titanium work system must be rooted.
mmm it seems quite strange...why other people use cmw , wipe cache , dalvik etc? your way seems a lot easy

What's next?

I rooted my phone, I think... I did get these errors:

Is that normal and safe?
What's next? What do I do from here? I really have no idea what to do or what I can do. Please share any information on the world of a rooted android device
Looks normal to me. It pushed busybox and superuser to system, which means you're rooted and can now run root apps. Just reboot and you're done.

You can get rooted apps from the market or just download and flash them. Titanium Backup, Superuser, ROM Manager are examples.
ROM manager will also let you flash clockworkmod recovery, the basic tool for installing new roms/kernels/radios.
Your world is just beginning, really.

There seems to be so much to learn, yet I know so little where to start. Is there a specitic thread you would recommend?

Firstly, there's a different sub-forum for each phone, so find yours' and hopefully they have a good FAQ. Once you've installed cwm, here is a tutorial for installing ROMs on Galaxy Nexus; it should mostly carry over. There's likely more tutorials around google/youtube for your own specific phone.
For titanium backup, always remember to backup user apps ONLY. Never, ever backup system apps or system data, because with custom roms you'll be changing the system. For a "full" (we call it "nandroid") backup use cwm.

Btw, where is the backup user apps ONLY? TB is really confusing.

The picture isnt showing....
But ur recovery may need to be updated.
Can u flash one of ur backups?
If so, boot up and update ur recovery.
Then just make sure u have correct ROM version for ur phone.
I hope that helps.

There I fixed the picture, but no I cant flash any of my backups because I deleted them for some reason some earlier backup was not working and the second one I delete it by accident. And the roms form my cell I have been getting the right ones from nexusshacks.com and cyanogen website. I was thinking in something more like pushing the rom thru a computers comand prompt thast my next step.

I found some tutorial in order to push the rom with command prompt but it's not working neither. does any of you know why not or if I'm doing something wrong here the link of the tutorial and at the end I posted whats what the command prompt came up with. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
Do you consider updating your recovery and rom?
My next step will be using the odin called tool for restoring everything. I'll let you know how it goes.

No SD card

Please help... I have flashed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goog...eview-t2796003 with the recovery method and now I can´t see my files because the mobile sais that I don´t have SD Card. I tried this to solve it using this:
Got "No SDCard" error?
This is because 4.4.x seems to point to: storage/emulated/0 & L points to: data/media/0
Solution:
- Mount system in TWRP/CWM
- Wipe system, dalvik, data, cache
- Unmount system
- Install ROM
- Factory reset
- Reboot
- Go back to recovery & flash SuperSU (link above).
- Reboot
But doing that I only can see the folders, but when I enter in them it doesnt show any file
When I try to restore the nandroid backup that i make before install Android L I cant see the file on TWRP so I can´t restore it... How can I come back to KitKat?
It was mentioned on another thread but I don't remember by whom so can't give proper credit but from a terminal emulator on your phone run
su
storecon -r /data/media/0/*
See if that works

Ok, I get back to 4.4.4 by flashing again my ROM and once I did that, I could be able to see files on the KitKat storage, I moved the nandroid to the L storage and I restored it. But now I have the problem that now I have two different storages (The L´s one it´s the preset) How could I change the storage now? restorecon -r... What else?
