Can someone explain android version versus kernel version? I see there is an updated AT&T stock rooted 2.3.6 flashable zip I can download from the forum. It isn't clear if it's the Kernel or the version of Android. What would be the difference with the 2.3.6 from my stock 2.3.5?
My Rogers i727R says it's Android version 2.3.5 and kernel version 2.6.35.11. From what I understand, the AT&T was also 2.3.5 and kernel version 2.6.35.11. So if I understand this update correctly, it updates the entire OK, therefore it is a ROM, not a kernel, correct?
If this is correct, why did not update the kernel to 2.3.6, or is there no such thing?
Yes its a rom. Android gingerbread version 2.3.6 that is the android version the kernel version of this rom is still 2.6.35.11 im not sure what differences there are on this rom it was an ota update we got a few days ago. And the kernel and android version are not the same. I dont believe the kernel version number , and android version are ever the same
The kernel number is the Linux kernel version that the Android build is based off of, and barring some highly unusual set of circumstances, won't happen to overlap.
Title says it all.
I'm currently running MIUIus 2.1.20-EN-Pyramid
Kernel 2.6.35.13 Trinity
Firmware 1.45.401.2
Recovery v2.2.7 RC3
Looking to flash the newer 2.2.3 MIUI ROM. Folks are saying the trinity kernel runs best on it...
Dont know where to find it.
Anyone know where I can get this? I want to revert back from 2.54 (the current version released) but I'm unable to find any of the previous versions.
