Hi
I am living approx 50km south of Gothenburg Sweden and has made a test of which Radio version that is most suitable for me at least where I am living and with my Provider.
Please share your tests too and include Location and Providername
The best suitable for me was 10.39.9007.00P_10.11.9007.09 where GPS was pretty quick in offline mode and Wireless fast, GSM stable, 3G is due to my provider very poor at my location
Cheers

Hi, i've been reading around a lot and i've got my wizard (cingular 8125) up to par real fast. I know everyone is using Skype but i've como across VoIpdiscount which offers free calls (landline) to USA all of europe and south america.
I want to know if any has set up a sip device or softphone on their Imate/htc etc to work with VoIpdiscount, or if you know of any other provider like this that offers free calls to usa south america and europe.
Thanks a lot for all the info.
The link is www.voipdiscount.com
good luck
You might want to e-mail them and see if they support other Softphones? And what the settings are.
I have Broadvoice and they have instructions on setting up your own device. If I have time today I want to set mine up to use SJphone.
Seems there is no easy solution to receive TMC on many PDAs or phones. I have difficulty finding a working TMC solution for my HTC Diamond 2 with any NAV program.
There are a lot of smart guys on this forum. Why not make TMC available via a website and load it via G3/GPRS in any suitable NAV program?
-Receive TMC signals around the world and put them on a site
-Build a program for PDA that will download TMC info from site via G3/GPRS and make it available to suitable Navigation software.
This should be possible, fast, should work around the world, independent.
Anyone?????
To the best of my knowledge the whole problem is that TMC is built around dumb PNA devices with no internet connection. The FM broadcast concept works for PNA as it only picks up local relevant data and it means that the owner of the PNA does not need to subscribe to a dataprovider (phone company) just for their PNA.
You would think that PDA devices would begin to get some navigation market share and attention but you get a higher perceived product value by selling a hardware navigation device rather than navigation software (plus you prevent software theft). Navigation providers know that the big money is in selling hardware which really costs them peanuts.
However as you point out there is definitely a market for navigation incident data to be available via the internet. The obvious problem would be how the information gets onto the internet in the first place.
This has been a very unhelpful rant but I am frustrated by the same situation
Getting the TMC info on the net should not be that hard. I can receive the Dutch TMC with a simple receiver and put it on internet. If more people do that for their country or region, it would be available to anyone. It should be easy to develop a simple device which could do that all automatically.
I agree that companies want to sell hardware or a subcribtion to traffic info (like TomTom is doing with TT Live)
If there is a demand, there should be a way....
I have a touch HD and my girlfriend the touch Diamond2
We both have IGO8 working on our device with TMC. not via GPRS but with the headset.
Look at this thread and you have tmc without hardware.
And maybe you've allready found it. But maybe handy for other users.

Topaz (Diamond2, WM 6.5 Dutty R3, Igo 8.3)
Does anyone has a working solution fpr this combination?
iGO8 8.3
GJ latest Version ((6.11....)
Topaz WM 6.5 (Dutty R3)
The issue is that - on GPS Port 4 / 9600 combined with TMC Port 9 GNS GPS drops connection. When you reenable it over iGO it says Device connected but no Sattelite found (like hanging) but receiving TMC Messages ...
Also - even as Channel is set in sys.txt it doesn't use it in iGO. When using Autotuning it sees Channels with TMC but jumps over instead of staying at a tuned one - when doing it manually it us anoying (as you don't know how for it goes when you press the tuning button) and doesn'rt remember the chanel ...

Hi
Does anybody know of a good GPS program that has maps available for South Africa. Preferably a free one with NaviPanel compatibility.
CoPilot was not on the Rom from my operator so I assume that it has no South Africa maps

Hi Vanalf.
Does TT7 work with the built in Navi-Panel?
And you say if i do a google search for Tom Tom 7 South Africa, i will get a link to download the program and the maps.
Thanks
@ Savage-wp
Don't know about the Navi panel because i use simple usb charger in the car.
For download i used a torrentprogramm and search for TT7 or navigator or something like that, it mostly comes with maps of europe or usa.
After you have to download map for africa seperate

I believe Garmin have the best coverage maps for SA (GARMAP). Its not about the APP, its about the coverage. No use in getting a really cool looking Nav app with all the bells and whistles but when you try to find an address, its 2km away from the actual location, or the 10 year old street doesn't even exist on the map, or the POI are so old that your granny could tell you that place closed in 1972.
Okay, I'm exagerating. The best thing to do, is go to each App's home page and see what their coverage is like for your country and compare, then choose the APP from the top few best coverage.
About finding the app... if you don't want to PAY (NAUGHTY!!!), Google is your friend!
