Hi everyone,
I'm looking for an app that can provide scheduled reboot on my phone. My phone is rooted. There are some apps out there that only kill all processes, but I want an actual restart of my phone. Any suggestions? Thanks.

the only one I've seen or heard of that can do that is called Tasker and its 7 bucks on the market (have to be rooted also)... in defense of the price it does seem like it provides some nifty options
Tasker is too complicated for me. I tried learning but always got lost.

My Captivated is rooted and Im having a lot of performance issues. I unloaded some apps and its still having problems. The biggest issues is delayed response. This happen from messaging, to suing the touchscscrreen./----Im going to leave this typo because it happens of the screen freezing--/ . This happens way to frequently. Please tell me I can fix this myself, I don't want to send this off for a new one. I hate that process.

Backup your apps with TITANIUM BACKUP and flash back to stock. Then I would install the sre.

you can follow all the steps to root your phone and reset and blablabla...
or you can wait for the software fix, which nobody knows when to come or nobody can guarantee to work.
or you can wait for 2.2, which is supposed to be faster but you never know.
or you can exchange for another phone and probably have the same problem.

I wouldn't mind playing the waiting game if just a couple of bugs. But what's a smart phone if it doesn't can't handled being used. I figured it was something I did cause the phone didn't always freeze like this. Is this the lag people are talking about?

Do a reset. However don't use Titanium Backup to restore system data. It will funk stuff up a lot of the time.

I had the same issues, first get rid off any task killer app you have. Second download the One Click Lag Fix app. These steps increased my phones speed drastically. You can also use a program called Autostarts to control which apps load at boot. To do the last to tips, I believe your phone had to be rooted.

What he says is good. Also get AutoKiller. Set it to preset Extreme. Enjoy a fast phone.
Oh. Disable the upload settings features.

My first impressions are saying that this definitly worked. Thanks! !!

What did you backup your apps with... Titanium Backup?
Did you install Auto Killer?
Back before this nice app we had to use a script at boot to change the settings this app now does. Y'all got in on Android when it was getting easy to do everything. I had to root by cmd prompt and use a list of commands now we have one click rooters. I am kinda jealous.

BTW what are the lag issues everyone talks about? My best friend has the Captivate which is why I am on the forums. I am trying to stay up to date with his phone. I have the Evo.

I use astro. Then use app brain to keep them up to date.

You definitely don't need an app killer. Eclair is set up to kill apps when memory is needed. I find things to be buggy when I use an app killer. Use launcher pro. Much smoother than touch whiz. Root with SRE. When all the att crap is gone the phone functions like it should have out of the box even if you disable the OC. Lagfix is optional but doing all these things really makes the phone fly

Anyone know how to take the at&t widgets off the widget list? Im on a Captivate rooted, (oclf) and have root explorer (if that matters).
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
You can use root explorer to delete the files associated with them or titanium backup will also remove system apks. Just be sure you know what the names are, some can be quite cryptic.
The files are in system/app directory but some apps also have other files associated with them.
Titanium backup has a feature where you can freeze them which essentially disables them and you can defrost thus reenabling should you find you made an error or change your mind.

I've tried TB, but for some reason, it slowed my phone down. I can try it again. When they are froze, will that eliminate them from the widget list?

Cool thanx man. And does anyone else have an issue freezing apps on captivate and TB keeps saying its freezing the app. I let my phone sit for like 10 mins trying to freeze one app!

No problems with freezing at all. Its a quick process and defrosting is just as quick

So as soon as you hit "freeze" it does its thing, then you can choose the next app? Maybe I should haver restarted my phone or something after untangling TB.

Hey there,
If you happen to be running Launcher Pro, you can hit Menu - Preferences - General Settings - Hidden Apps. Here you can check what you don't want to see in your apps list.
As far as Titanium Backup goes, I've never tried the Freeze option - I've just deleted what I didn't want (as long as I knew what it was!)
Hope this helps!
-Tara
Yeah that helped I been hiding that apps with LP, but I figured everything out using TB. I just went ahead and bought it. Thanx everyone for your input!

You can also get autostarts and disable the widgets from starting.
I've never seen the 'awake' bar look like this. Can anyone explain, is it the wifi? There is nothing out of the ordinary under running services and most of the info on the battery use screen was from this morning, while I was asleep.
Edit: pretty certain it was google backup transport. The 'back up my data' option was selected from a restore I had done. And I was on wifi during the suspicious activity. Made the necessary adjustments, testing now but so far it looks good.

i always disable backup transport when i install the new rom, you should try too. backup transport bounded with android system so you can't watch excatly itself alone because of this.

It's gone. Even went as far as deleting it. However, this morning I think I determined that its the wifi that was giving me the strange 'awake' bar.

Back in the Dinc days I had tasker start the GPS automatically whenever navigation started...but it doesn't look like that is possible with ICS/JB. I'm running beans 9
Does anybody have any idea on how to get this through tasker or other means? Thanks
Personally, I just leave my gps on all the time...
I don't see why Tasker wouldn't work though...
Sent from my (not really) SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
You can use Tasker, but you also need the Secure Settings app with the Root Helper installed in order for 3rd party apps to modify GPS settings. Why Google restricted it like that in Android 3.0+, I'm really not sure...

Phone Weaver can do it...

So do I, there is no reason not to really.
Leaving GPS on doesn't affect battery life enough to even notice.
How do I remove the notifications for it? It keeps trying to get me to sign up when I go into my gallery.

Get rid of it via root was my favorite method. It truly is a horrid product. So little thought goes into the development of it that it effectively rendered many devices useless when BUA+ launched. Email issues were always the end result.
Definitely a nuisance item. Can't remember for sure but I'm thinking I was able to disable it in the apps menu before I was rooted. Ice Cream Sandwich for the win!

You can disable part of it without root but not all of it. In total there are 3 files to take out.

Thanks, the annoying notifications went away but now that I'm rooted I'll freeze off the rest with TB.
