[App] Root Call Blocker needs testers - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hello guys, im the developer of Root Call Blocker, an advanced call and SMS blocking app for rooted phones.
The app's home is here at XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051274
We have had multiple reports that blocking is not working sometimes on the American sammy phones, so we need some nice people to do some testing.
You can use the Groups function of the Lite version to do the testing - it gives you almost everything youd want from the app anyway.
Please post comments here, but also use the "Write to us" dialog in settings.

This is great, my bug with calls comng through sometimes when call waiting with more than 1 number was fixed in 165! Thanks a lot!

Enjoy... and remember, an update is always just around the corner!

Could you guys please test the following behavior for me:
1. How the app behaves when a blocked number attempts to connect during call waiting
2. How a blocked caller is handled when "Dont answer" is set as the reject method and you are currently on the phone and have not enabled blocked call vibrate notifications within the app itself
Dont forget to send logs with descriptions as well.

Come on people, i really need some feedback on this!

Come on guys - feedback will help me help you!

Awesome, working perfectly here thanks. Dont thing ive ever had issues with this app (maybe once had to do a manual license check)...

Thanks, could you please test the behavior i described above? Its very important!

Guys, an update has been rolled out. It contains an important new workaround thast needs to be tested.
It may help those people who have data issues, especially on LTE enabled phones sometimes.
Please help me test this by installing the app, rebooting and waiting for data to return with the screen on. Please wait 3 minutes at least before sending logs via "Write to developer" in the app.
Dont forget to include a description. Thanks!

Working perfectly for me! Thanks, this is absolutely top class. Ive been using CM as well, great app too.

Enjoy. And dont forget that im always checking these threads, ao comments and suggestions are welcome!

Any issues to report?

Maybe found a bug... just maybe
This actually sort of saved my a$$ so not sure if I should list it as a bug or not LOL anyways I'm using Miui on a HTC Desire Z and I loaded my root blocker pro and added a password and put it in hidden mode. I always back up my blocking settings so I forgot how to load root blocker pro when it's hidden, so I went into the settings into manage applications, then I uninstalled root call blocker and re-installed it and said no to the restore, got into the setting and restored manually. Could be a security flaw, what do you think?

There is no way to prevent this other than taking your sd card out. Its an android flaw.

Yes, its a problem with android itself!

Any issues to report?

Not sure if it the app or not. I have an evo shift. Im using the free version and ever since i installed rcb i lose all service sometimes, data and phone. A reboot fixes it. Like i said i never had this problem before i installed rcb. On a lighter note it works great awesome app! I will be buying when i figure out if it rcb or not
Supremly transmikked! Sense in disguise

RCB will only interfere with data at first run, so it isnt the app. Bad radio, bad signal, pretty much lots of possible reasons...

Ok, i did find that it is blocking all picture mail(mms). Is there a setting to fix it?

Market Autoupdate Bulk Toggle app is now on the Market! (v1.2.1 11/8)

We just released an app to the Market for rooted devices running Froyo that enables quick and easy toggling on and off of automatic updates for all of your installed Market apps (aside from system apps that update via the Market).
Search for "market autoupdate" on the Android Market and try it out now!
Let us know what you think of it. Some people mentioned they would be interested to see widget support for this. If enough people want a widget, we'll consider adding widget support to this app!
v1.1 adds a progress spinner and has some internal changes.
v1.1.1 fixes a crash that occurs when trying to click the same button twice. It also fixes an issue that caused the app not to work on high memory devices.
v1.2 fixes a problem where the app would not work on devices without a sqlite3 binary (which includes most rooted stock ROMs that I didn't account for).
v1.2.1 adds a new icon.
EDIT:

Sorry, but my app is not to blame.
See this post.
so dose this turn on/off autoupdate feature? will you still see updates? im also curious about the update all feature, is that disabled?
Awesome work, defo will be useful. Wish I'd had it a month ago then I'd be £30 better off due to roaming auto update fun times
hi,
good work man!
only a question (not a bug)
is possible to make a option in your program to enable autoupdate
in / data applications and to disable for / system applications?
Great app!
It would be great if it could be integrated with Tasker.

EXACTLY what I just logged in to say! I'd love to be able to automatically turn off market autoupdates when I'm not connected to wifi (there's no way I'd remember to manually turn it on and off all the time!), but I imagine there needs to be some additional functionality built into this app first to allow interaction via Tasker?
Hi eddieringle,
really nice app ! A must have tool !
But one request: can you make a version that can disable auto-update for all apps including sys-apps ?

We're still looking into why it doesn't work on system applications. When we figure that out, we'll update the application right away.
On another note, 1.2 includes it's own sqlite3 binary, so most of the people who had trouble getting it working should find that it works for them now.
Awesome. Thanks! I was looking for something like this =]
Personally, I'd rather see a list of installed apps with a checkbox indicating Autoupdate status so I can quickly run down my list of apps (perhaps with a tab separating system from installed apps) and check/uncheck Autoupdate for each one. Currently, you have to go into each app separately to do this, which is a major pain... Hope this can be considered for a future update?
I went to slide me and it download but wouldn't install and I try to download it in the Android Market, it download but it say "installation error unknown reason - 18" so I can't install... any help? I'm using an Evo rooted with Clockwork recovery.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Great app!!! It would be nice to be able to choose what to update though, all in 1 simple list, just as it was previously mentioned. Also, the ability to turn off auto-updating when roaming would be useful too (however I do have my phone set to disable data altogether when I'm roaming, it might be useful for others).
keep up the great work!
Wonderful little app, thanks!
Doesn't it work on Android 2.1?
Thanks for your app

I like this but it has trouble with the lockscreen - sometime it appears then is overriden by the lockscreen...
Im looking into this issue!
Hey ftgg99, just installed and going to give this a try! Could you give a breif explanation of the minimum, maximum & step intervals please? I looked for a "help" option within the app to explain. I'm mostly interested in the auto call back feature for when Att drops my call. (I know the second it happens now with Vibralert!) Also, will the app request root the first time it is needed? Ive installed and changed settings but it hasn't requested root yet. Hopefully I get a chance to test this soon, just waiting on a busy signal or call disconnect. Thanks.
I, too, would be interested in a description of the interval settings. I installed, gave root permissions, and I've had a coupler of busy signals with nothing happening from Redial Me. Running Android 2.2
Okay I definitely just got a busy signal but RM did not request root. Turning the on/off does not prompt root either. I will uninstall and try again after I get some clarification for the intervals. -Atrix

Looks like you're having troubles as well. I've been calling a radio station all day to try to win tickets to a Willie Nelson concert for my father in law (huge fan-fathers day, ...yeah.) AND I've gotten a lot of busy signals, as expected. I, on the other hand, did get prompted for Root Access upon installation. I also verified that Superuser remembered "Redial Me" and it does have root access.
Haven't received a single pop up, prompt to redial on busy, or anything.
If this can get up and going and get the bugs worked out it will be exactly what I've been looking for for a LONG time! How awesome would it be if someone had an app that would continuously keep redialing until call connection for radio giveaways and promotions? Pretty sweet!
Also great for contacting people who are constantly on the phone with no call waiting... can sneak in between calls!
Let me know if there are any kind of logs I can pull or anything I can do that would help in the development for this. As of now, the app is doing absolutely nothing for me but I will keep it installed for logging/testing purposes.
I installed .apk, enabled Redial Me, .. tried it out... nothing. Rebooted, tried again, busy signal but nothing again...
Android 2.2, GladiAtrix 1.83 P-Rom for Motorola Atrix
Ill be working on a complete overhaul in the next few day - im taking the app over from a rather lackluster apprentice we have just let go. Many changes are coming!
As for details of the settings, they are as follows:
Minimum interval - the time after first engaging before the app starts redialing.
Maximum interval - the longest interval before a redial is made
Step interval - Redial Me incrementally increases the time it takes to launch a redial at this rate
Does that make sense?
Yes that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
Just this morning on a reboot RM (finally) prompted me for root.. I have rebooted many times since install. Sadly the prompt lasted about 3 seconds instead of the usual 10 (prob cause the phone was booting), I only had time to read not accept. Uninstalled and looking forward to the overhaul.
The easiest way to reset superuser is to go into the su app and forget whatever app youre having trouble with - then start it again and wait for the prompt.
How soon can we expect a new release? I'm excited to see this come together. Any idea why I'm not getting prompted to redial after receiving a busy signal?
Next few days... and no idea, better just write the app from scratch...
Done. Demo is up as well. If you were early to the party, PM me ill send you the xda version beta for free!
What do you mean with early to the party I just waited for the new version to test it since i read about it
i'll join in, i'm always trying to win stuff from the radio

Um then dont give it permission. Dont download apps that request all sorts of stupid permissions. Dont download apps that exist on microtransactions.
Permissions
I always check what permissions an app wants when I am downloading it, dont see why a game needs full access to my calls and messages. Having said that I have had a few games try and get root permissions, very dodgey.
LBE Privacy FTW.
I never understood why a live wallpaper would need access to my call log and be able to send SMS, so I never downloaded them. Now, I just block permissions on an individual basis when the app is installed.
Again.... LBE Privacy FTW.
This information is trustworthy and very helpful.
Thanks for sharing it here. It is very important that everybody knows what really is going on.
At least everyone will know how to adjust.

Awesome app! Read about it on either androidpolice.com or goodandevo.net. I can now download apps I would not normally and just block the permissions I don't like. (Ebuddy messenger asking for gps location)
Thanks for useful info
Why doesn't Google just monitor the market at the first place?
Good post!
Regarding permissions - note that sometimes a free applications requires "strange" permissions that seems irrelevant to the actual app, for it's monetization solutions (in app ads, registration etc.) Usually the dev explains it in the description, so always good to read
agreed. The permissions apps are asking for lately are getting out of hand. I'm always really careful when updating or installing a new app.
thank for info
OMG this is harmful. Does any Android-form Anti virus scan this ?
I don't think anything ever came of that particular issue, or at least wasn't common in the wild. But it's almost on a weekly basis now that you do hear about malware in the wild. It's not that widespread yet, but it has the potential to be.
As always the best defence is common sense. Don't install apps from untrusted sources, read the comments and ratings, and always check the permissions before installing. If you install warez that borks yours device, you have it coming!

But some of them change when messages/calls have been received and as such need to access them in order to work.
I shall certainly be more careful in the future.

Wow, that would be annoying, did you try adfree?
You've installed something that's doing that. I had something similar myself but was lucky enough to identify the culprit (it was an MP3 downloader).
You can either post your complete app list here and hope someone recognises the app that's causing it, or you can factory reset and rebuild your phone app-by-app.
Another idea would be to round up any suspect apps (one's not installed from the market or ones that do "naughty things") and freeze them with Titanium Backup. If the problem goes away then you know you've narrowed it down.
Got rid of it.
Read another similar post that suggested it was Air Push. Downloaded Air Push Detector and it identified Mechanical gear live wall paper. Uninstalled it so its gone now. Shame cos I liked the wall paper.
I thought though that it would allow me to keep it but disable the spam.
Speaking of, I'm really concerned about some of the permissions that may invade my privacy. For example, I wonder if an app that requires access to my contact list is just accessing it to provide the service it is designed for or if it is sending that info back to the designer or marketing companies for the purposes of information gathering or further advertising.
Is there any way I can block these permissions on a grand scale without individually setting them with 'Permissions' app, which of course only works on a rooted unit. My TAB is rooted but my SGS2 is not and won't be till its out of warranty.
As an example:
An app called Wi-Fi Finder has a permission to 'directly call phone numbers'. I mean WTF. Firstly why does it need this permission and secondly WTF?
What possible reason could this app have to do this and who would it call and whats the privacy repurcussions for me?

Seems that requies the phone to be rooted
Addons Detector should find the culprit.
You're not going to be able to handle permissions at all if you're not rooted. The only apps I've seen for handling permissions do it on an app-by-app basis. I've not heard of anything that do it at a system-wide level. Obviously doing it at the system level would cause problems for the times when apps do legitimately need permissions you've blocked, but you're the user - that's your choice.
Maybe it's time to learn to dev
There are a few apps in the market that you can get to block these. I've still noticed the odd spam msg will get through though.
I downloaded a zombie game (cant remember which one) and i started getting the same spam messages frequently.. Just look back to any games you previously downloaded right before this started happening and delete it

Go Keyboard
I found out who is using the Green Smiley Face ad notification on the progress bar. Its from Go Dev Team. They have an app for keyboards. Go Keyboards. If you have it, then that's the ass app.
Sucks cause I like their work but hates ads enough to delete it. I sent them a long message about killing it for me and will warn who is pushing ads.

[APP][2.1+] S.A.M. Set Airplane Mode

Hi everybody, I finally released my first android app!
S.A.M. allows you to activate and deactivate airplane mode at fixed time saving battery, useful for example if you want to
use your smartphone as alarm. ( Alarm doesn't work if the phone is OFF )
I know.. there are a lot of app that make the same thing but mine is free, easy to set and has these plus:
- App activation depending on the day of the week
- Edit wifi status, ringer mode and audio volumes when activating / deactivating airplane mode
- If the phone is ringing or you are making a phone call S.A.M. delays the activation of airplane mode till the end of the phone call

This app is still beta, I'm using it since march on my phone ( Liquid with CM 7 ) and it's working very well, but I need more feedback ( specially ICS feedback ! ) ... testing would be very appreciated!
You could test it setting close times and checking if ariplane mode is activating and deactivating properly, if you like it and you use it regularly.. many many thanks!
In fact my fear is that S.A.M. stop working after one or two week of use, in my case never happend but you never can tell.

Hi,
This cuts all connections like data,wifi,etc...
You can use your phone "normally" but without any connections, you will not able receive calls, sms, mms, etc either browsing the web make calls,etc...
Used in general for battery saving...
If I'm not wrong it's a buit-in feature in Android devices...
EDIT:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airplane_mode
Thanks man.
I use it everyday and I have not any problems with this app.
yes creeve4, like viking37 said it's a buit-in feature in Android devices ( and in all mobile phones )
In this app it's purpose is battery saving and make inactive your phone allowing you to use it as alarm (If you turn off the phone alarm won't work)

- fixed start and end time shown in settings

hi !
elcasa, a search of XDA brought me here. First of all, thanks for sharing your work with us. I'm sure we all appreciate it. Second, I have a question/request. How hard would it be to add an option to cycle airplane mode on and then immediately off again?
I have an ongoing issue that is easily solved by turning AM on and then immediately off. It's not a big deal to do this manually, but if I had a widget or shortcut that would accomplish this with one touch, it would be pretty slick.
Any thoughts?
you need a widget that resets the network, activating airplane mode and deactivating it few seconds later, if I have understood correctly
it would be easy making a widget that does what you want but I'm curious, why you need it ?

My phone wont connect to my femtocell and cycling AM fixes it.
doesn't seem too difficult, i'll try to do it
there's a new update! fixed problems with ics & jelly bean, added toast notification on off in settings
@erikivy I'm studying so I don't have enough time to make the widget, if you want to try, in the test section there's a button that make the "network reset" activating and deactivating airplane mode in a few seconds, i'll add the widget after my exams
