Hello everyone,
I just purchased a Motorola Photon (my first android and smartphone) and was wondering if someone can help me answer my question.
I would like to use the Photon with a SIM card during my overseas travel and wanted to know if unlocking the bootloader will allow this? I know I can't use Sprint's Worldphones while overseas with SIM cards from other countries - I had my friend confirm it from his BB-Bold. According to him, even if he switches to GSM, the phone automatically goes back to CDMA and uses Sprint's international Voice/Data.
I, however, wanted to know if unlocking will avoid this behavior on Photon? I really love this phone and would like to use it even when I am overseas.
Please advise.
Thank you in advance!
Photon 4G Sim Card
I bought a Photon 4G on Sunday, I just went to Mexico on Monday and tested a sim card from a local carrier and it worked. Just had to switch Network Mode to Any GSM/UMTS mode.

He guys
Here is the question straight forward, I bought a used US Cellular HTC Touch Pro 2 from someone who uses the phone on a CDMA network while i will have to use it on a GSM network the seller said that there is a SIM slot underneath the battery which he never used, Will this phone work on my GSM network outside U.S. and will that phone be unlockable?
thanks in advace
HTC website
HTC website doesn't say anything about GSM support for this phone "US Celleular Touch Pro 2"
any ideas guys???
The touch pro 2 is a world phone and yes it has a sim slot (at least the sprint/verizon models do). I unlocked my phone in the U.S. and used it on AT&T with my buddies sim card, the only problem was that the radio is does not have the 3G frequencies for the U.S. you might have to research if this holds true out side the U.S. since every other country uses a different frequency set for 3G access.
Also plz tone down the font size
ya the seller satated that the phone has a SIM slot then i should assume that it can be used hopefully, and the 3G is frequinces is supported by this phone over here in Egypt and i should be fine.
sorry about the font

Hello
I am thinking of buying a Verizon/Sprint hybrid phone (like Samsung saga), get it unlocked and use it on a regular GSM network in Ireland. Would it be possible to buy a phone with a bad esn and get it unlocked to work on a GSM?
Thank you
Same quest here...
After a few hours reading i think that if the Esn is bad, but the imei is okay you will be able to use it with a sim card. If you can carrier unlock the phone of course
Hi All,
Please excuse me if this is a dumb question. I am moving over from Sprint to Verizon and travel to India a lot. I know and believe I will have no problem roaming over in India on CDMA, as I do so often on Sprint and Verizon's website shows CDMA coverage as well. What I would like to know and double check myself on is being able to switch SIM cards. I understand the GS3 on Verizon has a SIM card in it... is it possible to pickup a local sim card in India and put it in my phone to use local service?
From my understanding at the moment, if I want to do this, I need to follow this thread and steps...

Is it possible to have Verizon give me an unlock code to be able to use a different local SIM in India? Any help would be grateful.

Hey guys,
I just got my LG G Flex 2 from the US. It is such a nice phone. I got the Sprint Version of the phone (LS996) I already rooted it and installed the unlock. It keeps me asking for activation (of the phone itself I guess). Even the included SPRINT SIM card does not help. In Germany we dont have any CDMA networks, just GSM/LTE networks. Is the a way to bypass this terrible activation? I just need to get it working with my t-mobile Germany GSM SIM. Tanks for your help.
Best regards from Germany

This may help you, the guy, which already unlocked gsm, is outside the US, too.
Couple of years ago, Cricketusers.com managed to successfully flash a Photon Q to the Cricket network.
This was long before there was a SIM hack.

So my question. Is this still even remotely possible with the switch to GSM? And even then, how did they pull this off without SIM cards? (((
Cricket used to be a sprint MVNO, so it's no longer possible now that cricket is 100% AT&T gsm. (Unless you do the sim mod...)
