Need HELP With my TOUCH PRO 2 - Touch Pro2 CDMA

He guys
Here is the question straight forward, I bought a used US Cellular HTC Touch Pro 2 from someone who uses the phone on a CDMA network while i will have to use it on a GSM network the seller said that there is a SIM slot underneath the battery which he never used, Will this phone work on my GSM network outside U.S. and will that phone be unlockable?
thanks in advace

HTC website
HTC website doesn't say anything about GSM support for this phone "US Celleular Touch Pro 2"
any ideas guys???

The touch pro 2 is a world phone and yes it has a sim slot (at least the sprint/verizon models do). I unlocked my phone in the U.S. and used it on AT&T with my buddies sim card, the only problem was that the radio is does not have the 3G frequencies for the U.S. you might have to research if this holds true out side the U.S. since every other country uses a different frequency set for 3G access.
Also plz tone down the font size

ya the seller satated that the phone has a SIM slot then i should assume that it can be used hopefully, and the 3G is frequinces is supported by this phone over here in Egypt and i should be fine.
sorry about the font

HTC 7 Pro network options?

I friend offered me the opportunity to buy an HTC Arrive/7 Pro for a very attractive price, without contract, naturally.
Now, I love WP7, and I like my T-Mobile family plan (in the United States). Unfortunately, I'm a totally newbie in the area of using phones on different carriers. From what I understand, I think it's possible to use an HTC Arrive with a T-Mobile sim card, and make calls, but you cannot modify/unlock it to get 3G support, which I do kind of need.
Am I correct? Or am I way off? It'd be great if I could get it working, complete with 3G, with a little work, on the T-Mobile network, but it's just as possible that I couldn't even make basic calls.
3G worked fine (here in Europe) on tested HTC 7 Pro...
if you want use different mobile carriers, your device must be SIM free (SIM unlocked)
So, it would be possible to use my T-Mobile 3G, provided the phone was unlocked?
I've always been a bit fuzzy on the distinction between a normal non-contract phone, and one that is actually unlocked. I do know, of course, that unlocked phones go for a much steeper price then their locked counterparts...I've seen some websites detailing instructions how to do this, allegedly, is this something I could do myself to a non-contract phone (albiet with paying for a code)?
Phone must be unlock (no branding and no simlock). You nothng write about simlock that phone. When device not have simlock you can use everything simcard and everything frequency, but I don't know how work T-Mobile in your country (not from where you wrote) maybe operator locking 3G but i don't think. You must plug in sim card to phone and check that.
Ah, I'm starting to understand, I think. The HTC 7 Pro is, unlike a lot of Sprint's phones, GSM, HSDPA, WiFi, CDMA compatible--T-Mobile's phones are all GSM. I'm in the USA myself.
However, I can't say anything about frequencieis or anything like that. Has anyone ever tried? If not, I may have to just break down and try on the phone first (with an unlocking code).
I'm not sure but I think that HTC 7 Pro and HTC Arrive is the same only difference to Arrive not supported pre-NoDo. You must try plug in sim card and you learn.
On the page HTC specifications wrote that 7 Pro and Arrive frequency is the same:
Network
AT&T:
HSDPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
Telus:
HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

You must try.
Thank you, I think my only option will be to try.
I was able to find some information on T-Mobile's frequencies, but not Sprint's, at the moment.
I'll be able to return the phone, so the cost would be, potentially, the cost for the unlock code (assuming HTC won't give me one for free). I may have to try this out myself.
Sprint is CDMA and the Arrive doesn't have a SIM card (I have the Arrive and know this for a fact). You won't be able to use it on T-Mobile or AT&T.

I was about to say this, but I'll add my hat to the ring and also say there is no SIM card slot on the 7 Pro (Like there was on the TP2).
Though I wish there was. It makes the Photon look really compelling. :/
Really? That's extremely strange, there's a thread on this site showing how to access the SIM card slot and MicroSD slot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996015
Maybe this is only for HTC 7 Pros outside the US, which are not CMDA?

The guy who made that thread is from Prague, to that's probably the Euro version of the 7 Pro. Europe is mostly GSM. So if you got the unlocked Euro version, it would work on T-Mob, but only EDGE data, not 3G/4G. T-Mobile uses an oddball 3G frequency (UMTS 1700/2100 MHz, also called Band IV), that is not shared by many other networks in the world.

As long as it is not SIM Locked, I don't see why it won't work on any GSM network...
In Mexico, the predominant cellular service company is called Telcel, currently owned by Carlos Slim. Telcel uses the GSM networks on the 850 and 1900 bands – which is the same frequencies that GSM carriers use in the United States and Canada. ref : http://www.cellularabroad.com/mexicocellService.php
And the Desire S is compatible with both these bands. ref : http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_s-3776.php
Happy journey, mate. Enchilada time!!

If your phone is branded (some cell operator) it will show some kind of logo either on the phone physically or splash screen etc.
Simple test - Take out your current SIM card from your phone and put in another SIM of a different carrier (different from the one you're using now). If it works, and you're able to make/receive calls, you are SIM unlocked. This is the simplest confirmatory test I'm aware of!
If you bought the phone in China, I highly doubt ANYTHING will be locked!!
If you mean "send and receive calls" - yes, it will work. In the worst case it'll require network unlock, which is something like $15, give or take a few.
If you mean "3G data will work" - no, it won't. The UMTS frequencies are incompatible with Desire S.

[Q] Unlocked Fido Razr HD w/ AT&T Sim: "SIM not allowed MM #3"?

Got my FIDO Razr HD. Rogers SIM = all is good. AT&T sim = asks for unlock code, which i buy online.
After entering code, phone appears to do a factory reset. During the reboot, a box pops up:
"SIM not allowed MM #3"
Now the phone permits "Emergency Calls Only" with the AT&T sim. Rogers SIM = still good.
When I put AT&T sim into my other phone (HTC desire) it works fine on roaming (rogers network). So I know sim + signal is fine.
Don't understand this error message.
Did I mess up the unlock?
advice appreciated, thanks.
Do you have another Canadian SIM you can try? Bell/Telus etc?

Thanks for the replies everyone. to answer the questions:
1) i don't have any other sims right now: just rogers + ATT. Next time i am w/ friends I will ask to borrow telus/bell microsim.
2) they were regular sims that were cut down.
3) haven't had a chance to visit USA since posting topic- but when i do, i will test both cards and also visit an AT&T shop to bug them about it.
Is sim corrupted? I don't think so because it works fine in HTC desire. But I guess trying a new one will prove or disprove.

I am using this phone with at&t with no problems, I took my sim out from my iphone 5 and used a adapter to go to micro sim and it works fine, no issues.
I'm receiving a Fido RAZR HD to be used with AT&T this afternoon, I'll let you guys know if there are any issues.
OOI, is AT&T seen as a much better GSM network than T-Mobile in the US?
I was looking at the T-Mo USA site, and there are some amazing "Monthly4G" SIM only plans (e.g. $30/month for 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 5GB of HSPA data).
This seems much better value than AT&T, Verizon and even Sprint! But is their network sketchy compared to the others?

AT&T offers the second largest network coverage behind Verizon. They are also one of the two GSM carriers in the United States, and tend to be more popular with mobile phone enthusiasts because their UMTS bands are more common and used with other regions such as Canada or Australia. T-Mobile does indeed offer excellent value, but they use mainly AWS band in addition to PCS band in selected regions, thus making them the lesser choice for using unlocked phones from outside the country.
Hey,
Just looking on wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile_USA#Radio_frequency_spectrum_chart
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT&T_Mobility#Radio_Frequency_Summary
It looks like T-Mo mainly use 1900 for 2G and 1700 for 3G, whereas AT&T use 850 and 1900 for both 2G/3G, right?
So if I bought a Canadian Razr HD XT925 and came to the US, would I be able to use T-Mo's 3G network? I am guessing no, since it does not support 3G on 1700MHz.
But then there is a note on that Wiki page saying that they now have a roaming agreement with AT&T after the failed acquisition. So if I forced the phone into "WCDMA only" mode from the test menu, would it then fall back onto the AT&T 3G network?
Sorry for taking the thread slightly off topic
Cheers,
Su

As you have read, T-Mobile did acquire PCS bands from the failed merger with AT&T, but these bands are not as utilized as their 850 MHz band so it's not as widely available as you may think. Some areas might be able to use the 1900 MHz band for T-Mobile 3G, but I would check with fellow T-Mobile users to confirm first before you dive in headfirst. I know that there are T-Mobile users in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that are getting 3G data connectivity with their unlocked AT&T iPhones.
Well T-Mo do daily plays for like 2 bucks right, so I can always try this out before committing to a contract
Do you think AT&T would be the better bet if I am bringing my own device from Europe?
The reason I ask is that I may be coming to a US college for a couple of years, so naturally, I'm planning ahead to see if my phone will work over there

If you're using a device from Europe or Asia, then yes, you have a much higher chance of being able to get 3G connectivity with AT&T. Off the top of my head, Nokia seems to be the only one that tries to actively keep AWS band in their radios.
Hmm, so I did a bit of research on GSM Arena. Seems the Nexus line of devices consistently support 1700MHz 3G (including the Nexus S which I currently have).
Guess who cancelled their Nexus 4 order last week, and opted for a Canadian RAZR HD instead...
Whoops

Thank you for your response. The HTC One has a mini sim card. I have an AT&T mini sim card to put in the phone, but when I do so it doesn't recognize the AT&T network and the CDMA/GSM setting is blocked. There is a way to switch networks. Could someone please help me out in identifying how? Thank you for your help in advance!

Verizon LTE phones are all sold unlocked and use sims. Also every model that I can think of sold in the last couple of years has GSM bands to be sold as "world phones". I appreciate the attempt to be helpful, but spreading misinformation is the opposite of that. After some more trial and error, it was an ATT provisioning issue

[Completed] Samsung SM-W2017 China Telecom Flip Phone help using it outside China!

Hey all,
I received this beautiful samsung flip phone designed inspired from yesteryear as a gift from a good mate in China:
http://www.samsung.com/cn/smartphones/samsung-w2017/SM-W2017ZKYCTC/ [use Google Translate - see specifications more for supported GSM bands (a lot of them are AU compatible) but then goes to say phone only works in China, Macao, HK and Taiwan!]
I'm in Australia but I'm finding that out of the two SIM CARD slots. Slot 1 (4G LTE) does not work and a message pops up saying 'It's detected that your inserted card doesn't match the terminal. Please replace it with a China Telecom 4G user card in time'. Slot 2 works fine (but only 2G service!!) which is pretty useless.
Any chance any of you can point me to a solution? My friend tells me the store never provided any prior notice that the phone was locked to the China Telecom telco, simple the GSM frequency bands. Are there any XDA guru's who can cook an unlocked ROM for this phone as it's only released/sold out of China...
Any help, greatly appreciated - would hate to send this back!!!!
Anybody....? Really lovin' this phone, but would be AWESOME if anyone can help me unlock it's 3G/4G SIM Slot 1! I've been liaising with this sim-unlock.net site, are they trustworthy and can do the job? Clearly told them phone is not asking for any unlock code, just doesn't accept non-China Telecom SIM cards for sim slot 1.

Greetings and welcome to assist. Unfortunately I don't know of anyway to carrier unlock samsung phones without either going to the original carrier or a third party unlocking service. The second sim for 2g is normal in china, they have one sim for calls (2g) and one for data (4g)

Any third party unlocking service that you know will do the job? I really need to get the 4g slot working to make the phone worhtwhile using!
