All day i have not had data. It all started this morning when i tried to start barnacle to tether with the laptop. and as soon as i clicked start the data dropped and hasnt been back on ever since. I dont know if thats related but i figured id mention it considering ive used barnacle several times over the past week.
Im running GummyCharged GBE RC 2.3
Have been running it perfectly fine for about two weeks i think.
Any help would be appreciated. i talked to verizon and went through all their BS troubleshooting techniques.
BTW i have also tried wiping the phone and odin'd a fresh copy of GC FE 1.9.1 and still no data and then back to the GBE and once again still no data.
Happened to me, but on Gummy 2.0. After reflashing the EP1Q modems to no avail, I restored to stock. Went to Verizon today, guy looks at all the settings, everything was how it should be. All of a sudden data pops up and started working. So phones are like cars, take it to get fixed and the issue stops.
I'd suggest messing/toggling all the data settings on the phone and see if it will pop up. I wish I knew a solution, but it fixe itself.

Tell me about it. Data drops, gps and bluetooth are dodgy, hdmi doesn't work, missing text messages (due to data drops), random restarts. I think I'm going to attempt to pull a fascinate and get the bionic when, er, if it's released.

Great so it's not just me, I thought my phone's wifi/data was acting up after turning off wifi tether. The wifi would be on but data would run at the same time, was really odd and heated up my phone until i rebooted it
Been having data issues all day and I use no tethering app. Running humble 1.42. Now I can just get 3g even though I always get 4g at home. Network issues?

I run the eclipse rom, and have not had data since at least 6:30 of the 30th...I however took my 4g card out of my charge and put it in my thunderbolt and have had no issues getting any sort of data at all...... well thats funny. Data just came back to my charge just now (i had just put the card back in 10 minutes ago to see if the issue was resolved). do people still have data issues on the charge?
Happened to me running full stock not rooted. Took it to verizon and they changed the sim card. Works fine now. Maybe that's the same problem you are having. I couldn't connect to 3g or 4g. Only wifi

I've had my charge since August and haven't had any issue with it since day 1 (that's because i rooted it day1). On occasion i would have issues after being on wifi all day or something, but a simple reboot or toggle of Cdma/LTE button would fix it but Saturday I experience a complete data outage. What was odd is that i could get 4g when driving on the highway but in non 4g areas i had zero data. Full signal just no 3G or 1x icon. I re-rooted using the new modem EP1W no luck...24 hours and i had nothing. Finally i went online and switched my phone back to my old droid....then back to my charge. After 30min i had data back. The new ROM was working Excellent (blackhat EP1W debloated) then today...same issue is back.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue or what is causing it? is it my sim card?
I've been through 3 replacements and 4 sim cards, even ran my phone in safe mode for 3 days and had constant loss of data.

Are you by chance using wifi tether 3.1? If so uninstall and use 3.0 pre 12. I had the same issue till i downgrade to 3.0 pre12. select fascinate then master tap in settings. No issues at all any more. i can turn on and off wifi tethering without having to reboot after everytime i use or get done using the app.

I ended up switching back to stock and took it to Verizon for a new SIM and it has worked since. Until last night. Both mine and my husband's lost data. Mine came back this morning but he still has none but has gotten some 4G randomly. His is also rooted... Really would prefer to avoid doing the same to his... took hours to get mine just right again... Also, we got ours back in June. From what I read we seem to be lucky ours lasted...

You gotta remember what they say about the vocal minority. People who are happy aren't going to be nearly as apt to post about their good experiences as those who have bad experiences are to post about theirs. I admit to being as guilty of this as anyone. I think if you took a scientific poll (as opposed to a self-selected one), you'd see that 99.9% of people who root or flash have had no data issues related to it, and the only reason the number seems high in here is that you're only seeing people who had problems try to figure them out, rather than those of us who haven't had any trouble and don't have anything constructive to add to the discussion.
EDIT: The fact that you both lost data at the same time points to a network issue, not a rom issue.
it took me about 4 months to burn out my original sim, just replaced it a few days ago
Both my fassy and my DC have been dropping data since yesterday. My DC starts out with 4G then to 3G then 1X and then no data at all.

Is there anyway to revert back to before the OTA update. I could go all day without a charge but yesterday I swapped one battery to a fully charged and I had to charge that too. 3 battery in one day. Today I have had to charge twice already. Something is def wrong. Not rooted. Factory reset says it won't erase current software.
Please help this is not acceptable.

My settings are all the same. It seems fine when using WiFi but 4g sucks the life out. Same with 3g is I set phone to cdma auto prl. Never had issues like this. If only I could stay on WiFi all day.
To be honest, I want to root but I'm paranoid. I rooted my incredible but it was so easy with unrevoked. It seems more complicated now

same as funkybside - my battery life actually got BETTER after the OTA update. not rooted, using stock - did not alter any of the settings pre vs. post update.
The ironic thing is since I posted this my battery hasn't dropped the slightest bit. Still on WiFi. I'm convinced its the radio searching for signal. Yesterday and this morning I was out, no wifi. I chewed thru battery life...night and day difference. Before update though I never had this issue no matter what

*228 won't work on the thunderbolt due to the sim card and how it updates the PRL.
Battery life is worse after the OTA update. I am also getting forced reboots.
Ok I have been reading some but cant find all that I need. I live in VA and right now the city I live in has no 4g it will soon I hope but I know what soon means to VZW because I had the fassy before. But anyways I went in and turned it on to cdma only for right now so it wouldn’t be always looking for 4g I hope that is the right thing to do. But even before I did that I keep dropping from 3g to nothing to 1x to nothing then back to 3g. The bars never change and it is at places I have full bars. It killing me because I use Pandora all the time and it will go about 2 songs then drop and I have to wait like 10 mins for it to work its self around to start playing again. I was only stock for one day but couldn’t take it anymore so I used odin and flashed gummycharge 1.9.1. I love the rom but the dropping data is killing me. Do any of yall know anything to do for this or do I need to call VZW about it and if I do should I flash back to stock before I call or what. My wife has a charge and its all stock she wont let me touch it and she hasn’t said anything about dropping data. Is this a phone problem or is it a sim card problem?

Not really sure. It happens to me about once or twice a day. It only really bothers me when I am streaming Pandora. I have no idea if it happens to the HTC or LG.

I was sent a new SIM card after complaining of this same problem. I would say it decreased the dropouts by 75% but they still happen occasionally.

It's all over a LOT of forums out there. Flashing gummycharged has helped immensely for me, but YMMV.
You may believe it's the placebo effect, but straight up, its been a night and day difference. I'm a firm believe in the fact that it's software related and Verizon needs to get it fixed, and fast.
Their "resolution" for me was to send me a refurb phone, I told them to sit and spin cause I've been down that route before and it aint gonna happen again.
Yea I might flash back to stock tonight and see how it goes and if it keeps doing it I will see if a new sim card will help.

I seen other posts that the changing of the sim card did wonders, Maybe it doesnt but does it hurt to try it?
Not putting salt in the wounds but i have no issues with data dropping, even when I am in 3G which is rare

Ok so get this last night after I dropped data for like the 100th time I got pissed I started opening all my apps as fast as I could. I was turning on data turning it right back off turning on WiFi turning it off like as fast as I could. well my phone went all to hell locked up tighter then a nun. But then it did so crazy stuff and the pull down menu thing was showing but I couldn't turn on or off anything like data or GPS. but I could hold in the power button and it would let me restart and stuff so I restarted it. on boot up it could not find my sim card so I was thinking great I f'ed it up well it made me restart again on this boot up it found my sim card. now with heavy Pandora uses I have yet to drop data. So in other words I kicked my phones ass and now it knows I'm the boss lol.

Wondering if someone could help with this. I odin the new EP1W update and it looked like everything went fine. For some reason I didn't like it so I went back to gummy 2.0. Everything went fine. No problems. Then I decided to Odin the new modem. Thought everything went fine. Now I don't have any 3g signal. My 4g will pop up some of the time. But usually I only see the bars, and no it does not have the 1x next to it. Just the bars. I did a factory wipe thinking that would help me out but it didn't. At the beginning I will get a 4g signal, I try and enter my gmail address and it doesn't go through because my signal is lost. I am able to receive calls, sms. But I am not able to get emails, go on the internet, use certain apps that require online access (XDA app in particular). I tried imnuts fix your phone process but it said it couldn't read the cm5 hash or something like that. Is there any suggestions out there? I am going to try and go back to complete stock and see if that works. I will keep you posted but would like your input. Thanks guys.

What did you do to resolve your issue? I have something very similar going on with my wife's phone. This morning, 3G data stopped working, and 4G will only stay locked for about 5 minutes. She had the EE4 modems, and flashing the EP1W modems didn't fix anything.
I went back completely to stock and started all over again. I stayed with froyo because of stability. But I am still losing my signal. Not as much though but still bugs the hell out of me. Thinking of calling big red and see if it is still under warranty. Hopefully they make me an offer I can't refuse ;-p Wish the Galaxy S 2 was going to come but not so much. Not sure about the bionic. Hearing bad things already about the battery. Now the prime sounds awesome.
Sorry got side tracked. Yeah, go back to stock and start anew. Any questions let me know.

I had flashed every available modem, and that didn't work. I flashed back to ee4 stock. That didn't work at all. Still had no 3g and 4g would only stick for a short time. I even flashed back to ed1 and took the ota. That didn't work. Then when I woke up this morning, it was working fine. Who knows.

I get this occasionally too, like data just drops out for whatever reason... it always comes back though and I just attribute it to what's gotta be the huge amount of 4G traffic where I live (L.A.), it just goes down sometimes due to server overload or maintenance I think and even the FiOS craps out for an hour or two here and there probably for the same reasons

Rooted with Altered Beast just a few days ago. Flashed Gummy Charged 1.9.1. No issues until I downloaded the wifitether app. After a reboot shortly after using the wifitether app my 3G/4G (data) has completely gone away. I have wiped/flashed lots of times. My boot animation seems to have an issue as well. Kinda flashes in and out almost like it is getting stuck. I also tried a reflash of ABeast through Odin as well. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm going to try to go back to stock. I'll let you know what happens.

doubt it unless your using retardedly high amounts of data and even then they would probably just throttle you... but yeah toggling data a few times sometimes may work

i always wonder why people flash Altered Beast still, only cuz its so dated... anyway you got back to stock, now have you tried odining different modems? or even flashing a different rom? either a froyo one or GB...
Id odin a new modem try this its ep1q just odin in pda http://www.mediafire.com/?96cc17rha8a7o1a if it works Id go to ep1w. Also when you got to stock did it say missing sim and not let you activate your phone and did you remove your sim?? If your able to activate its not your sim card it could be the modems. As for the altered beast I only started flashing about a month ago and there are so many threads about how to get cwm... I (being paranoid) read posts for a full week before flashing. What I realized is there should be an updated sticky on the most updated ways to get to root and rom. Now that I know what im doing (kinda) I can read the posts and know whats what..when your new to this its damn confusing. An altered beast was the first link I came to when researching.

This has been driving me crazy lately. It's most noticeable if I'm watching any kind of video or tethering with PDAnet. I'll be browsing or watching videos then suddenly the data just stops, but it still shows me connected to 4G with 4 bars of signal. The only way I can get the data back is cycling airplane mode.
Has this happened to anyone else and is there any way I can fix it? I'm running Humble 1.62 with EP1W radios and using PDAnet 3.0 to tether.

Talked to Verizon, they ask me to confirm that settings were well, set. reboot and watched it happen again. they confirmed that its an existing problem and they acknowledge it with all samsung products. they said they can do nothing about it as long as their is a known fix (reboot system or shut down data and start it up). They did say a new update is coming out very shortly which specifically fixes this from samsung.

Ill try to let you down easily. Thats a bunch of BULLISH! I called verizon and got the same line. Also those aren't known fixes. They are called work arounds.
I called samsung mobile US and was told they arnt aware of any issues with the samsung charge. They also took down my device/contact info and said they would be in touch! The only software update we MIGHT see soon is GB. As we all know, the issues are still present in the leaked GB build.
As a former fascinate owner I went thru this merry go round before. Verizon blames Samsung, Samsung says there is no issue. Verizon finally admits it and offers an upgrade. Thats the pattern that will play out here.
Just so everyone knows VZW is still replacing Fascinate s with Droid charges. The issues still exist!

Yep, this happens to me all the time. Interestingly, my data dropouts are always this way (4G icon still showing), not the usual way where people drop down to 3G/1X or fail to show the 4G icon.
Only happens when I'm streaming Pandora.

If you guys are tethering this WILL happen. It happens to me if I download a huge file or stream HD videos. I have to restart the phone and then it works again.
There are multiple data connectivity issues with the Droid Charge. I have spoken to many different techs at Verizon, some of them claim it is a known issue and that they are aware and a software update is "coming soon" I have had techs tell me it was announced on 10/19, i have also had techs tell me early november. However I had more techs, including several at Samsung, tell there is no known issue, and no upcoming software fix.
