Hi Guys,
i finally manage to get Ubuntu working on my transformer. WiFi (no gui) and Touchpad working. Ubuntu 11.04.
Now i have the following problem:
Ubuntu Software Center doesnt indicate loads of nescessary plugins and software such as Adobe Flash player.
Tried to install it manually with:
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer (tried adobe-flashplugin and flashplugin-nonfree aswell)
but it looks like it can't find the package through my repositories.
When i run apt-get update, which i do every time before installing something, i see allot of 404 errors when the rep is trying to fetch:
http://../binary-armel/ packages.
My question:
anybody got flash and divx running will on their Ubuntu @ the Transformer? Maybe im overlooking something. Or maybe the repositories doesnt support Armel (ARM Cortex) 9 yet.
my Ubuntu repositories
So if u succeded installing flash, im glad to hear how u did it.
Just to make clear, it's my first day running Ubuntu...but im a fast learner
Ty in advance guys!
Anybody? I got the feeling Flash just doesnt support for ARM built Ubuntus. I tried most repositories...
Some how some softwares gave indication that i dont have internet connection, while i do have connection through wpa_supplicant.
Edit:
update, Gnash and lightspark or libflashplayer.so plugin doesnt work aswell. Anybody got ideas?
bump
Also tried dropping libflashplayer.so in plugins, but firefox says out of date and will not play videos without upgrading flash player.
Did you try Running
sudo apt-get update
To update your repository? It always failed for me until I did that.

Yes. I'm running 12.04 with 2.6 kernel. when i do sudo apt-get install adobe-flashplugin, it says not available but referred to by another package. If anyone has a manual file that i can drop into the plugins folder, that would work too.

Managed to get Ubuntu 10.10 running last night on my rooted LG Optimus 3D , figured I'd post up the files I modified to get it running and a very quick guide, so here goes,
First of you'll need to root your phone, see here.
Install Busybox v1.18.4 (doesnt survive a reboot, so you'll need to reinstall it each time you boot ubuntu after a reboot, (sorry im sure this can be resolved but im an android n00b)) from here.
Then download these files.
Then follow this tutorial.
Ignore the download link on the tutorial page (I've included the correctly edited files here) and the driver installation step (you did that when you rooted the phone).
Enjoy!
EDIT:File now uploaded/linked.
Does our phone support USB OTG so that we could plugin some usb devices
Can you use a BT keyboard and mouse to control it?
Still have these files, the upload site is non-operational.
link dead...
Link please?

This is the way I did it a while back and it worked perfectly. It runs whichever Linux distro you choose in a VM on top of Android and you use a VNC viewer app to access the VM. It ran pretty well, but I only tested it a couple times with Ubuntu and Backtrack.

Hi everyone!
It's my first post here, but I've been reading XDA-developers for a while. It's impressive the work that you do here guys!!
I have a B70 ASUS Transformer TF101, with SBKv2. I rooted it with RazorClaw and RecoveryInstall, and now I have Prime 2.1.1.
I want Ubuntu in my tablet but SBKv2 prevents me to install native Ubuntu. So, I installed the chroot Ubuntu from Jhinta post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145601
But the problem is updating the disto. It get stuck removing libappindicator0.1-cil from mono, with a high CPU usage. The same problem as user gnagnone in this reply to the OP. Jintha replies indicating to run the chroot on desktop chroot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16444220&postcount=78
The question is, how? , Exists another way to solve this issue?.
I wanna update due the launching applications problem. I read this can be solved changing Gnome to Lxde.
EDIT:
The post for change the x-session-manager to LXDE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355202
I change Gnome by LXDE. Now, the apps starts but if I run Open Office Writer, Firefox, Keyboard and LXTerminal, I'm unable to run other applications. They doesn't start. Maybe is the 32MB restriction.
did you do the 2 commands listed here to switch to lxde?

Yes. OP edited.
Hi,
I am running a rooted stock JB. I have a Debian (tried also Ubuntu) in a chroot environment running, and I am using a vncserver to run X applications. Some things like lxde and gedit are running fine. Others, in particular all KDE applications (but also others) are not running at all or look completely chaotic (most GUI elements missing, black and/or in the wrong place) and are unusable. I tried some time ago the same thing on my phone (HTC Desire Z with CyanogenMod - unfortunately recently bricked so I cannot try anything anymore), there everything ran just fine (despite very slow).
Is this maybe due to missing features in the kernel of the stock firmware? Are there any ticks to get around these limitations without flashing another ROM? (I would rather not void my warrenty...)
Thanks for any insight,
Martin
No ideas? Is anyone running some Linux in chroot on the original firmware?

I run Ubuntu in chroot everyday but I've never messed with vnc.
Sent from whatever device I happened to pick up.
My guess is that the number of people using Ubuntu on the tf700 is quite small, so you might not be able to get the answer to your question here. However, there is a support thread for Ubuntu on the tf700, you might want to ask your question there:

Is there a way to only fresh install Ubuntu and not android?

Yes with the tubuntu app use the update rootfs option, it allows you to update android or ubuntu separately

The rootfs option doesn't work..x3maniac is aware. In the meantime use this on the assumption the partition layouts are all the same. You do need the tubuntu app to get wheelie and nvflash commands.

{SOLVED} Oct 28,2013..FOLLOW THIS LINK http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/10/fixing-amazon-prime-streaming-drm-protected-flash-13-10
On ubuntu 13.10 and having problems trying to view google play movies,..
Ive tried the install HAL and this happens..
"sudo apt-get install hal
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package hal is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
hal-info
E: Package 'hal' has no installation candidate
Tried everything and researched since yesterday and seen that flash isnt supported on ubuntu firefox and that DRM/HAL does not work and has been deleted from the reprositories,..Im sticking with firefox and no other browser, so how can i watch rented google play movies on Ubuntu?
