Anyone has the HTC Chinese Handwriting IME for Asian Sensation? I want to use a stock keyboard w/ Chinese on my T-Mobile.
go to the settings then language & keyboard then touch input then international keyboard, tick the 拼音
T-Mobile doesn't have the pin yin.
Also I was requesting for Handwriting, aka writing out the stroke.
I am still searching for handwritten as well
For pinyin use Google Pinyin for now. Ill post back here if i find handwriting
Try HanWang handwriting from the market. This is what installed on my wife's phone.

I would also love to get the HTC_IME that includes chinese input. I am having a hard time getting it working though. I was using android revolution HD for a while and i was able to select all the chinese inputs i wanted from the stock htc keyboard... so when i switched to the beast rom, i figured i could just take the HTC_IME.apk out of the ARHD rom and push it to /system/app.... it pushed in OK and i can choose "touch input", but under international, there is only english.
any help to get the stock chinese input working for us who need it would be great!! thanks all.
maybe there are some dependencies that also need to go along with the HTC_IME.apk in order to enable multiple language selection? anyone know?
Try HKIME which includes Traditional Chinese handwriting. It's available on Market.

At this moment I am still using Windows Mobile. However, with the bad Apple clone Windows Mobile 7 coming up I am thinking about switching to Android in the future.
One problem I have is Chinese display and entry. I want an English interface, but need both Traditional and Simplified (preferably PinYin entry). I know there is a PinYin entry method for Simplified Chinese. What I would like is the same for Traditional. Is that available by now?

you can switch between normal keyboard, handwriting input method.
for normal keyboard, you can switch between chinese and english .. chinese you can input by pinyin (and fuzzy pinyin) ..
for handwriting input, it recognises english handwriting, and chinese handwriting .. you can input simplified or traditional chinese characters ..

And it works on all versions of Android? Heard it only works up to 1.6.
MTB: Sogou is that from QQ? I use the Windows Mobile input from them and love it.
HTC CIME is your best choise,so you can only choose a HTC Sense device like legend and so on,I use it for T9 pinyin and handwriting input, also full keyboard is woking well too,
but why don't you try Voice input ?you will be suprised, trust me.

Well, I thought I read somewhere that QQ bought Soho. Well, you read a lot on the internet!
For those that are interested -- QQ Pinyin is now also available for Android and works great, just like on WM. Even with the Pro2's hardware keyboard. I love the fact that you can easily switch between CHT and CHS.

i'm using a hd2 with english rom.
thanks in advance.
I always used swiftkey on my N1. Now I have a Nexus S and I really like the stock keyboard, but there is no Dutch dictionary on the Nexus S.
Is it possible to import a custon(Dutch) dictionary into the stock keyboard? That would be really nice
You could try this package I created from CyanogenMOD 7 for Nexus S. It can however be installed on ModacoROM as I have and probably also stock nexus s.
It has the dutch keyboard/autocorrect hidden under 'Italian'. I didn't know how to get it under its own language. So I abused the Italian language for that.
I'm not sure if you need root either to install, anyway good luck with it.
If you have successfully installed it, you'll get another Android keyboard in your language and keyboard menu. Select the languages you want and Italian for the dutch dictionary. Please be aware you need to set them in both settings when you click "Input Languages" (it asks you to complete action using).
Should be fairly safe, you can remove it under manage applications and then choosing "Android keyboard". The stock keyboard that ships with the device itself and can't be removed afaik.
good luck.

Is it possible to add custom keyboard languages (that are defined in the SDK) without root?
I think you would need to build/compile it from AOSP. What I'm doing is probably quick and dirty but it works (I'm still new to this android development). Think you need root though to install this.
If you like I could try and make another APK with Swedish keyboard/autocorrect hidden under the Italian language.

That would be awesome!
Oke. Here is the Swedish APK. Select Italian 2 times when you try to select the input languages (for each action).
Might need a reboot to have it work, didn't need it here. Also I'm on a rooted nexus s and haven't tested it without root.
I'v tried removing it from application management, which works. After that you are back to the stock keyboard. Looks safe so far
have fun..
note: I used adb install LatinIME.apk to install this.

Thanks, I've tried but can't get it to work. What do you mean with: Select Italian 2 times when you try to select the input languages (for each action)?
EDIT: Okay, understood. Still doesn't work. Unrooted also.
Hmm.. So it installs and you get another android keyboard in your settings menu right?
What might help is installing another keyboard (free from market). set that as default (select it as input method in browser for instance). go to settings and select the recently installed android keyboard i gave you. deselect all languages in the input languages menu (once for each action popup). close settings, open it up again. select english and italian in input languages (once for each action popup) and close settings.
now open text messaging or anything else that uses the keyboard. select the android keyboard as input method. hold the spacebar and select italian. it should now give you swedish predictions.
i'v seen it here also that it at times didn't give me dutch, but after redoing all the settings it fixed it.
just make sure you have enabled the keyboard in the settings menu and set the settings for it like i said. if it doesn't work i don't know.
Is there any other way to get, for example, the Dutch dictionary in the Gingerbread keyboard, without having to abuse one of the existing languages? Can't you just add additional languages?
I'm using a Nexus S, and I heard that there are versions of the phone that download additional keyboards during the initial setup, based on the location of the phone (network, country, ...), if they have an internet connection available, see for example this screenshot: h~t~t~p~:~/~/~plixi~.~com~/~p~/~67798426 (can't post a link, so just delete all ~ chars).
I'm also wondering if this method won't cause problems when you get an OTA upgrade (e.g. to 2.3.3). Will you need to do it all over again? :-s
Thanks!
Has there been any progress on this? I don't know why android doesn't just include all languages possible. If an iPhone can do it, surely our phone should!
I heard that Android 2.3.3 adds support for a lot more languages, also on the US/UK Nexus S, including Dutch ...
Hey guys,
The x10 that I had had Chinese, Japanese, and Korean locale. It's Ericsson keyboard also had Chinese, Japanese, and Korean input.
However the Sensation only has the English and Spanish locale. The HTC keyboard also doesn't have Chinese, Japanese, or Korean input method. This really sucks because now I don't have a way to type Chinese/Japanese/Korean. (I dont want to download another keyboard. I like the HTC keyboard.)
There are many android phones in China/Japan/Korea which means obviously there are Chinese/Japanese/Korean local for android so does anyone know how I can get this ? Also HTC is Taiwanese so I'm SURE that HTC's keyboard has Chinese input. They also have HTC in Japan and Korea so I think HTC would provide Japanese/Korean input on the HTC keyboard instead of making the people download a separate Japanese/Korean keyboard. Does anyone know how I can get these input methods onto my HTC keyboard ?
Thanks,
d
Did you try this?
MoreLocale 2
oh ok cool thanks.
what about the input method ? does anyone know how to get the other input methods on the HTC keyboard ?
You are out of luck with Japanese, but most ROMs come with pinying and zhu in as options on the bottom of the list. Is your Sensation stock? Try downloading Google Pinyin from the market. I think that adds it as an option for the HTC keyboard.

I use GO Keyboard for my Japanese fix. I'm pretty sure you can add Korean to it as well.

so theres no way to get chinese/korean/japanese input with the HTC keyboard even though HTC has phones out with chinese/korean/japanese input on the HTC keyboard in other markets ?
Anyone's got the stock keyboard that came with Sensation 4G?? I remembered that I could go into Text Input and disable Predictions and my trace would still work. But now the multi language keyboard that comes with all the roms, it's not like that. I must have predictions enabled for the trace to work
I'm running Insert Coin Sense 3.5
Bump - I am also looking for this.
Hello,
I am planning to buy an Asus Transformer Infinity, and as an Armenian language user, I simply do not imagine my life without Multiling Keyboard . But I'm not sure whether this keyboard will work with the dock or not. Will I have the same typing experience with the physical keyboard of the Asus Transformer as I have on-screen (layout etc.)? Has anyone tested it (not exactly the Armenian layout, but just the app with the dock)?
Most importantly, I want to make sure that I will be able to switch between English and a second (Armenian) with the keys combination, as in the case of the default Asus keyboard. Even if this is not a supported feature by default, maybe there are some solutions/fixes for this? I'm ready to root my device or tweak some system files and settings, if it will help.
The question is, there is no other app that supports Armenian input language even half as well as Miltiling Keyboard, that's why I would like to ask the Multiling users here to share your experience with me.
Thank you in advance.
I have been using multiling with the dock without major issue, but with English UK. The only problem I find is that the " ? ! etc characters will not be in the same place. However, you may be able to learn the new positions easily? I'm sorry that I'm not familiar with Armenian to know if there are other critical special characters you will need.
I keep meaning to investigate if it's possible to remap the characters on multiling. I believe it is a better soft keyboard than the Asus one, or the default android 4.1 keyboard which is also installed by default. I'm looking forward to trying the android 4.2 default keyboard.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply, Gudders . Have you tried to switch languages while you use Multiling with the dock, or you use only Engilsh UK? If it is not too difficult, can you please check the Armenian language in the Multiling settings in order to have two selected languages, and try to switch them with the dock (keys combinations, spacebar...), or at last just try to type something Armenian with the dock?
Thanks!
I have been trying to figure out the same but for Spanish. So far I haven't been able to get special characters to work from the dock keyboard. I haven't been able to get things like alt-134 to work for writing a ñ. I waited for 3 months for Asus to release a latin keyboard and they keep saying it is coming soon but it still is not available. I finally just bought an English version but so far haven't been able to figure this stuff out.

I am happy to try for you. I can download and install Armenian. You can switch using shift and spacebar in search, chrome, kingsoft office, gmail and some others. I tried to get a screenshot, but I can't seem to upload it to XDA (browser issue I think). The only problem I had was with the stock browser. I couldn't get it to switch, or type Armenian characters. It may just need a restart. It does type the charactes and switch using the search bar in the stock browser, but on google page or XDA reply box it wouldn't.
Hope that helps.
