CM7 is currently being worked on. It's out there. Go to the development thread and just try out some roms. there are many good roms like android revolution hd, senseless extreme, leedroid and many more.

There's a version of CM7 compiled by AOSP, which you'll find floating around in the developers section. Search is your friend in that case.
The official version, which isn't planned to be released until it's bug free (Or on par with other CM7 devices), has been delayed because of the Sensation's CPU and a few auditory problems. It shouldn't be much longer, but as always, its ready when its ready and no sooner.
Try out a few of the Sense roms already released. MIUI and AOSP roms will be buggy.
I canttt wait cannot stand sense and all the bloated garbage that is added onto it. bring on cm7
Number one rule of CM7 is that you don't ask when it comes out. Right now I'm running LeeDRoID and it's great.

CM7 nightly's are yet to be released for the sensation, let alone a stable full release. However, there is a slew of great ROMS available right now. Personally I use The Beast v1. Props to Melvin.
Yeah, there are some really stripped down, fast sense-less ROM's out there currently. Stable too with all the features working for the most part (lol)

Lol on the senseless Roms when you have an incoming call you have to block the phone but no big. I love htcclay roms freaking fast.!!!

i noticed several releases for the DHD over there in the Desire HD section but not many here for the Inspire. Im only asking cuz if the roms and kernels all work for the Inspire like the DHD then question answered

I asked a question leading to this same question myself earlier, and mine got moved to "general" by the mod.
The stock Inspire ROM and the stock DHD ROM are similar, but not the same. I've noticed substantial discoloration going from an Inspire based rom to a Desire HD based rom. If at all possible, it is my mission to get some real chefs over here to make some REAL Inspire based roms.
The issues that exist are minimal, but just enough that someone like me will notice lol.

I agree with you. There are differences in the roms. We've got real devs over here too. I am grateful what we have though. More is coming soon enough.

I don't disagree with asking the question, but this forum is definitely crowded with a lot of non-development related questions. All of this stuff should be moved to General. Your questions will be answered there too.

Absolutely I just want Inspire-based roms, since we have the rom.zip and the ability to make them. It just makes me sad that all of our roms are for the desire HD and they aren't the same...
I know we all have been waiting patiently but seriously we need to push the devs into making them. Or the wait can go forever.

I'm currently in the process with chrisch1974 of testing VIRTUOUS UNITY ROM on the MT4GS, it will take a little while but we're making strides and it will be worth it!
it seems no one is satisfied with what we have or the work and hours of development myself or ck23 have put into our roms. And if our roms aren't "Proper ROMs" then I will be more then happy to seize development. It's really getting to the point of me not wanting to dev for this device at all. People just don't get what it takes to get cm7 or miui to this device and I'm sick of seeing these threads that don't belong in the development section. FYI WE DON'T HAVE KERNEL SOURCE AS OF YET. HOW CAN WE HAVE AN AOSP ROM WITHOUT AN AOSP KERNEL, AND IF THERE IS NO KERNEL SOURCE HOW CAN ANYONE MAKE A KERNEL? But for the time being I'm done developing for this device. i Agree dude guys no ome is Satisfied with what we have and the projects we are starting just because we havent boasted about them doesnt mean nothing in the Works i Dev for another device i also have work and school and im the minister of music for my church i have ALOt going on and until Roman gets his Phone its just me and Undead seriously people over the years ive been a member of XDA this is the main cause why devs leave the forums or stop dev'ing//
well, for what it's worth I think that both Undead and computerKid are awesome for what they've done and continue to do! Some people just don't appreciate what goes into getting this stuff done. By no means am i a developer or anything like that, but i *understand the process and hat's off to both of you for your work!
My theory is that the more the merrier. I'm running undeadk9's supercharged ROM as my daily and it's fantastic. Both Undead and CK23 deserve all the respect in the world for what they've done for us, especially on getting the ball rolling and being willing to go where the rest of us don't even dare. CM7, MIUI, and Virtuous are ROMs we all know and are comfortable with, and I think most people coming from other phones want what they were comfortable with. The stock MT4GS ROM is great and all the tweaks the devs have done so far are amazing! I am willing to help anyone who is willing to put forth the effort. That being said, there are so many parts about certain ROMs that I love, obviously they make vanilla and chocolate for a reason, but I say keep going and just ignore all the stupid people on here - cause trust me - there are a LOT of them!
What I said was not a stab at you or ck.... Or anyone. I don't know why you're stopping development over something that someone said.
I'm sure everyone would love to not see you stop putting out roms.
On that note, just remember that there's 1 hater for every 10 people who enjoy your work and the haters are the vocal ones. Don't let the people who may speak up affect you.

I must completly agree Roman...and my personal opinion to this is when there is coming more development to the doubleshot it is really worth. This will help to improve all ROMs on this device.
Hello everyone..Just wanted to tell the world how excited I am to finally get another phone. After the awful mishap with my beloved T-Mobile G1, I was left using the Huawei U8350..Didn't think I'd get another Android anytime soon.
And then.. I found this beauty, MyTouch 4G, for $150 CAD...and already rooted..charged it up and was ready to go
Still getting used to not having a physical keyboard though.
In terms of development for this phone, I don't know much of what's been going on. Perhaps someone could fill me in on all the goodies? Do I need to upgrade my radio and spl? What is the best ROM, in terms of stability? I'm current;y running CM 7.1
Don't care much for extreme speeds..I just came off a phone that had 192MB of RAM and a 528MHz processor...this thing is flying for me =P
Any and all help/advice/opinions/suggestions are welcome =D

CM is the most stable you can go.
Also, as far as radios go, it's all about testing them. Some radios work better for certain people.

Newest leaked radio seems to work well, as well as the panache radio is great too. stick with cm in terms of stability if that is your main concern.
We have many roms to choose from. Feel free to give them a shot if you have the time. I'm on feby's ICS, but I go back to sense 3.5. Cm7 is stable with no problems what so ever. All these devs are awesome, you'll find something that might catch your attention, so give their roms a go

I went from a CM7 nightly to MIUI for awhile but now I'm on the beta 5.0 feb ICS...I'm using it as my DD and am on day 2 for now, I can live without a camera so it's not a big deal for me.
I came from a Galaxy S to mytouch4g and couldn't be happier. Welcome to the fam.

I have been using Virtuous Unity V2.39 for over a month. By far, it is the ROM that I've been satisfied with. I've used CM7 and while it is very stable, I like the Sense UI. Post engineering S-OFF method, I've had no problems to speak of for anything. Radio versions included.

Virtuous Unity may be a few months old. But its going to be hard to beat if you want Sense 3.0. I've used CM7 on my Desire for over a year, and I just don't think it is as polished as Virtuous Unity. Maybe I'm the type that prefers to have a polished product first, then update it or remove components I don't like. If you are the same, you might find Unity is the place to start. Otherwise.... CM7.

So I've been keeping track of all your suggestions..and I really appreciate everyone's input =)
I ended up trying quite a few ROM's. Here's a list of what I can remember:
Virtuous Unity - It was Fast and Stable but didn't quite like the UI. I guess I'm a NON-Sense kinda guy.
MikRunny - Same problem with the UI
MIUI 1.12.23 - This one was very different from the usual ROM's. Very interesting take on the overall system. Very smooth, but not quite what I was looking for...
DARKSIDE CM7.2.0 - I really like this one a lot.
RCMix 4.0 - This one was nice too, but seemed a bit heavy in comparison to the rest..could just be me though =P
Creamed Glacier 5.1 - Of course I loved this, just because it's ICS. But it's not quite ready for me..few FC's, a bit of lag here and there, and no camera..
BlissSense - This one was pretty cool. I really liked the shortcuts on the home screen. The sliding tabs. Very good idea, easy to use.
RunnyDroid 2.1 - Definitely fast
Absolution - Nice theme and fast
BlackICE 1.23 - Really love the simplicity of this. Currently running this..
Pyramid3D - Not a fan of the UI, but I gotta say it really is much faster than other ROM's that are similar to this...
Pretty much every ROM runs extremely smooth, some have better battery life than others..but I've decided to stick with BlackICE for now until a fully working, bug-free version of ICS comes out

No doubt about CM for stability but you might also want to try Darksense 4.0 for Sense tho most run Unity...I am currently running RCMix Energized cuz hey it is new - seems stable to me. Will give MIUI another try for sure as I only gave it a day in a bout of flashaholism ... however .... all the major ROMs that had good feedback on the resource bible were stable for me.
I am also a recent upgrade from a MT3G, but people have been building for this phone for a while and things are pretty stable outside of CM ... we are just behind the times!
I would definitely try a sense ROM and MIUI to experience the differences ...
Absolution also has a lot of dark themes ....
The new Touchcovery looks sweet too - going to try that out shortly ...

GB stock - Gingerbeast
aospX is fantastic. Very stable and very few minor bugs. Also, Existz is very attentive and answers many of the questions posted in the thread.

Best rom threads usually get locked. The only way to know what you need is for you to try some roms.
I switch between Gingerbeast, Redemption, and ClearDroid.

It's probably a certain app which keeps locking it up. It might happen with any rom, unless he can figure out which app it is.

AOSP ICS: AospX (currently using)
GB: CM 7.2
Sense 3.5: ER3BUS, Virtuous Affinity 2.05
If you want something different you should try MIUI 2.4.20 (GB)

I have only been using this for a day but so far it is awesome. I have never had a rom with battery life that is this good. I left my phone off the charger last night and it only lost 3% in about 9 hours. I have not found any problems except that when I restart the phone you need to let it completely restart or it will reboot automatically. It is an ics from with sense 4.1. It makes my phone feel more up to date. If I run into any problems I will let you know. If you are interested look for sabsa prime 8.0. A year ago, the MT4G boards were extremely active, but we've seen a huge decline in popularity on these boards. Because of this, polls are no longer taken on who's everyone's favorite ROM is anymore and the MT4G Bible isn't being updated.
I was waiting a while before rooting my MT4G and decided to take the leap tonight. I flashed the JB Dark Unicorn ROM, and it's been disastrous. Every app I press comes up with "______ has stopped working" and I'm basically stuck there. (can't even post there for help since I have less than 10 posts)
I'm sure no one wants to go through the frustration that I'm going through, so I was wondering if we should have some type of poll to see which ROMs out there are the most popular and stables ones?

Well the Dark Unicorn ROMs are some of the most popular and stable ROMs. Rarely are there problems with them. Could you post what process you went through to wipe and flash?

you can try Synthetic_aospX, it's about as stable as you can get with ICS

Second this rom. Quite stable and nearly everything works! I'd flash a different kernel though (AOSPX stock, mintchocolate chip), and its pretty damn awesome.
I will try soon
Synthetics ROM AOSPX is definitely the most stable ICS for glacier, IMO.

I was waiting a while before rooting my MT4G and decided to take the leap tonight. I flashed the JB Dark Unicorn ROM, and it's been disastrous. Every app I press comes up with "______ has stopped working" and I'm basically stuck there. (can't even post there for help since I have less than 10 posts)
I'm sure no one wants to go through the frustration that I'm going through, so I was wondering if we should have some type of poll to see which ROMs out there are the most popular and stables ones?

Go with cm7. By far the most polished of the glacier roms.
Also, on first boot, don't set up instantly. Let it sit there for 5 mins to settle. Makes a huge improvement in stability for me.

While I agree that CM7 is very polished and a great choice, I don't agree that it is "by far the most polished."
But again, you can't go wrong with it.

What would you say is more polished? Not to be argumentative, just curious. I literally buy my phones based on what the cm team supports.

More polished? Nothing. But of the top of my head, aospx is AS polished. At least it was last time I tried it. Mind you, much of it's stability comes from the fact that it isn't super feature packed liked CM. Less addons = less potential issues. But again, aospx was always 100% trouble free for me.
That is a good idea though, buying devices based on official CM support :thumbup:

Good thing with cm7 is that it works right from the getgo no fixes or mods needed IMO.but A CM9 rom (port) like mimicry is good as long as you know what to add to it,,What I mean is if you dont add things like lowmic fix ,camera fix and a newer stable kernel such as frosted cherry with the 720 fix it pretty much sucks! with those mods/fixes it makes it pretty damn good and stable!No offense to Awesome but I havent had much luck with dark unicorn myself.
I agree that synthetic's aospX ROM is very stable. Stable enough in fact that my whole family is now using it.
