Or if you have a friend that already has a gold card you can use his.

Well this might be a dumb ? but I have to ask it. I downloaded the WM6Titanium_Version2 rom and everything installed just fine. I thought this would up grade me from Win 5.0 to the win 6.0 but its still the same old OS. What did I do wrong or do I have to wait to get win 6.0 from Imate for my kJam.
well did u cid/sim unlok ur fone? if not, then u would have had to have done that first

I'm going to disagree with you and say it's NOT cid unlocked because thats about the only way I know of that you could flash a new rom and still end up on the same old rom you started with.

I agree. I responded to a similar issue a while back, and the fix was to actually unlock the phone. (At least I think I responded to one - I can barely remember what I did yesterday. )
I believe Joker is mistaken and thinks his SIM unlocked phone is CID unlocked.

its probably the same as the fender so the same root process i am sure of and it will be a 32A board so...

Since the new MT3G has the 32A board. Would it be possible to run the custom roms that are available for the overseas version that already had the 32A board; lets say for example the Sense UI for the Rogers MT3G?
yes you can use the same roms as the rogers Magic.. as you have the 32A board BTW Rogers is in Canada not over seas

I rooted my fender with the "goldcard" method and then loaded curserdroids "stock" fender rom, and touch screen works along with everything else. I then themed it with my "blackfender2" theme, which added a few nicer pieces, in my book. But to answer your question, the goldcard method works.

hmm jus got my mt3g 1.2 today and still wondering if i should root it or wait for more custom roms to be made. i really wanna see how this phone runs at 528mhz ....

WRONG, the new MT3G has a hybrid board, 32A board with 32B radio, a completely new kernal, etc, etc. If you flash ANYTHING other than the stock fender rom (available on this site) your touchscreen will not work. There are driver issues. PLEASE read the posts before giving bogus info and leading someone to screw thier phone up.

You can root it, superuser works but there are NO custom ROMS out yet, to tethering capability, etc. etc.

i attempted to but not sure if it was done right... i will got out and get another 2gig card and attempt again..
tried to make a gold card with three different brands. Didnt work guess I will have to buy a kingston sd card.
I used a 1g sandisk.
I'm getting my phone tomorrow. I'm excited to get something better than the G1 but at the same time somewhat disappointed that my new MT3G (1.2) can't be rooted as of yet (well it can... but I kinda need the touchscreen). I'll bookmark this thread in hopes of a custom ROM to be developed soon.

i did mate, your Tutorial was like my last sign from god... i just lost all my hopes and voila i found your tutorial, what i was going to do was follow your tut, and create a new goldcard from a nokia micro sd card ( since my sandisk didn't work i guess, still cant load and .zip or .nhb from my sandisk goldcard with HBOOT ) but unfortenatly the link is down and now i can't create any gold cards anymore

The only way to create a goldcard is by buying the PSAS software which is 30 euros. took me about 6 hours last night to figure that out. :*(
I bought the software I just don't know what settings to use with my mytouch 3g 1.2.

You definitely should start reading but the short answer is... no, there is no one click perm root for mt4g and you won't be seeing one. Rooting is easy and shouldn't take more than 5 minutes if you read carefully before you attempt.

This phones are very similar in the way one would root them. But different files are needed, please read as per phone.
The easiest way to root this phone can be found over at the UnLockr.com
http://theunlockr.com/2010/12/10/how-to-temporarily-root-the-t-mobile-mytouch-4g-htc-glacier/ make sure to continue from that page to how to "perma root" the phone.
With the possibility of you putting 2 different variant of ROMs on this phone please take time and READ READ READ about the two different recovery images and what version (2.2/2.3) of Android you can put on your phone. You can easily screw things up if you get head strong and do not take the time to read.
