If your someone whos stuck on 1x this will at least get you back to 3g.
Use the ##778# menu (hit call after ##778#)-->password is 000000-->modem settings-->Rev A-->choose enable-->hit the menu button on the tbolt and commit changes
Update:
So to answer the question of should you change this back?
The default setting is eHPRD which is verizons simultaneous voice and data 3G network. By hitting enable your switching your phone do EVDO or Rev A is pretty much their older 3G netowrk. The info is yours now you make the call of weather you should or shouldnt
To Revert back once everything is fixed:
Use the ##778# menu (hit call after ##778#)-->password is 000000-->modem settings-->Rev A-->choose eHPRD-->hit the menu button on the tbolt and commit changes
So is this a network problem or a phone problem because of flashing radios?

Actually I think it is just 4G. The reason our phones lose 3G as well is explained in this article.

The issue with not getting 3G can be fixed by following the instructions in the OP.

It worked on my phone, although it did take a minute or two once my phone rebooted before the 3G connection started. That was probably because I am in a building that actually gets great 4G coverage, but spotty 3G coverage.

If you want to do voice and data at the same time over 3G yes.
Thanks for this. I was beginning to think it was the rom I was using.
I wish i'd have seen this sooner...I thought it was the ROM as well and unrooted my phone this morning just to find that wasn't it. CS informed me there was a nationwide outage after the fact (I have been stuck on 1X since yesterday)
Quick question - I was so quick to try this that I didn't pay attention to the original settings of the phone does anyone know what they are so I can revert back when the system comes back up?

So I recently bought the girlfriend a Samsung Galaxy S 4g. Definitely a bit different than the Evo in terms of the overall process. It didn't help that I started out in the Vibrant forums somehow...
Anyway. As it stands right now I have her phone all rooted and it has CWM and I'm using the Valhalla ROM. The issue is that she doesn't have data.... and when I go into wireless networks and check out the mobile networks and such, I can never actually see T-Mobile. If I search I can see AT&T, which I connect to and I start roaming. If I do this I still don't actually have internet. I can't use the market, or the web browser or facebook or anything that requires data. The browser will sometimes redirect me to some web2go website, otherwise it just times out or says it can't connect to the server.
So does anybody know what's going on? Please let me know if you need any more details.
I've never had trouble like this between my Evo, or my Epic 4g Touch or any friends phones. I've also tried going back to 100% stock unrooted GB and I still have the exact same problem. The ROM doesn't seem to matter, neither does being rooted.
Since you are running Valhalla bring down the notification bar and make sure you have the data toggle on.
Yep, it's definitely toggled to on. I even cycle airplane mode and make sure it's on afterwards.
Only other thing I would suggest is a factory reset. The phone should be picking up the T-mobile network without any problems. But if rooted or not and on stock vs custom rom the issue remains you may just have to set it back to stock and send it in for replacement.
And I know this is a silly question but make sure you call T-mobile and verify that this line has data plan. It has happened in the past when I added a line that it wasn't provisioned correctly and out of the blue the data stopped working. The service was automatically removed due to a reps mistake.
Check your APN settings. Should be T-Mobile's, if not then that's what causing the issue. Just look up for those on google.
Sent from my SGS4G using xda forum app
My APN settings are correct. I've now tried several other APN settings though, and this hasn't helped.
I know this phone is on a data plan. It's on the $50.00 a month prepaid. It did work when we got it, and after it was rooted. I just noticed recently that it stopped working, and I'm not sure at what point it happened, and if it has anything to do with what I've done.
I called tmobile and they said they couldn't see any network related issues going on. Just my phone not connecting, so it was made a ticket for the engineers I guess haha. They are supposed to work on it, and they usually will either fix it and never contact you, or call you if they need you to do something.
Bump.
I've been in really good service areas with full bars T-Mobile and I still don't have internet. So I really don't know what's up. The "T-Mobile engineers" haven't called me back or fixed anything yet.
I'm about to bring myself back to stock and bring it in to a store.
Bring it back to stock & maybe put it in recovery mode & wipe caches & do factory reset again. See if that helps before returning it.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
You might try reflashing the ROM or maybe just flash a different modem. I had issues like that once when i was on black ice. If you had data before, there probably isn't anything wrong with your phone.

Having the same Data problem
I had an unlocked ATT BB Curve on T-Mobile and the data was working (although very slow...)
I decided to try out a "Vibrant" hoping to be able to install ICS via Cyanablahblah.
Searching on Ebay I bought one only it turned out to be the 4G (it didn't realize there was a difference.)
Since then I can't get DATA on the 4G except in WiFi.
On the network it goes to the page: u.web2go.com and says my data plan does not work on this device.
Has anybody had any success with this problem ?
Could it be a 4G issue ? Before DATA came from Edge.

Is there any way to fool it with a 3G modem flash or something ?
I think I screwed up when I bought the phone not realizing there were 2 variants of the "Vibrant."
I wonder if I would have this problem with the earlier (non "V") 3g phone.
Probably. If it were just the 3G/4G causing the problem, you can force the SGS4G to only use 2G networks in the data settings... but if it's anything like the old Verizon bits with tethering and other data, they check for specific data strings that are harder to fake... I mean, set.

Ok, so my situation is a bit complicated, so bear with me. I've got an ATT voice plan, with no data or text. I've got an unlocked/rooted SK4G. I'm currently running GOv3.3. I was working just fine on the ATT network, but the people in the office next to mine couldn't get ATT signal, so they setup this little ATT microcell thing. It's about the side of a router and I guess it's basically giving them access to ATT via VOIP. They add their phone numbers to the list and then they can get on. Somehow, this thing is running over the regular ATT signal that I WAS getting just fine in my office on the other side of the wall. Now, I can't connect to ATT's network while inside the building. He's tried to add me to his list, but I can't connect to his microcell either. It doesn't show up at all when I search for carriers. He said that when he added me to his list, it gave him some message about how my number isn't registered with the att network. I'm trying a couple of different modems now just in case it's a modem issue, but I have little hope of that working. Any thoughts?
Have you tried manually searching for available providers to see what shows up?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I guess I didn't explain clearly. It shows ATT when you search, but it won't register n the network. If I unplug that damned microcell thing they're using, then I can connect just fine.

Apn is access point name its pretty much the address and port that your phone uses to connect to your network. You can find the setting for this under network settings.
Your using a T-Mobile phone to run on att I'm surprised you get service at all. Even having the device unlocked you still need to set up the apn which by default would be all tmobile. Definetly Google it because I do not know att apn settings I've always used T-Mobile. Hope my brief summary was at least a little help

This is actually a REALLY common thing to do. As long as you're using a GSM phone, it doesn't matter what provider it was originally used on, you can use it on another GSM network. This is my 3rd such phone (from t-mobile to ATT) and I've never had any problem getting them to work on ATT. And this phone still works just fine on ATT also...as long as I'm not within range of that damned microcell thing they're using in the office on the other side of this wall. As soon as I step outside, I connect back up to the normal ATT network.

I honestly have noooo clue lol.
Took this from Wiki
A mobile device making a data connection must be configured with an APN to present to the carrier. The carrier will then examine this identifier to determine what type of network connection should be created, for example: what IP addresses should be assigned to the wireless device, what security methods should be used, and how or if, it should be connected to some private customer network
Makes sense, the APK is needed so you device can communicate it the carrier to determine which network your phone should connect with. Still not sure what the need is, for multiple APNs, but at least I understand now what there used for exactly. The past week, I've worked again in downtown Boston, and my phone had no issues with handing off from 3G to LTE. Unfortunately I can't say the same for when I'm at home about 4 miles away. Kinda sux really. I know this isn't the topic for this thread, but I'm just hoping Sprint fixes this Spark issue soon, cause it's extremely frustrating.
Anyway, for anyone who wants a bit more info on APNs, Judy check out the Wikipedia page.

So as everyone in here, i'm a early adapter. Once 4.4.3. was released yesterday I had to have it.
For now, I wanted the stock 4.4.3. installed and so I did, but now I have this one annoying thing, my phone keeps telling me i'm roaming.
I'm on a Dutch virtual network Telfort which uses the network of KPN, I think it has something to do with that. Anyone else experience this "problem"/"feature ?
Better yet, does anyone have a workaround to turn this off?
I tried enabling/disabling Roaming , didn't work. Soft reset, re-install etc.. None of those actions worked unfortunately.
No-one has this problem?
why is it a problem? its letting you know that its using a different carriers towers. unless you are getting charged extra, id ignore it.
Me to, also telfort. Have no clue what has changed...
same problem here
Same here, have to keep roaming on...
So no clue if I have 3/4G...

This is a problem because a lot of people live close to the border. With roaming enabled, you connect automatically with a foreign provider. at high costs.
I've managed to solve it using a work-around:
Downgraded both the bootloader and radio to:
bootloader: hhz11k
Radio: 1.0.25.0.23
wipe(!)
Kept WiFi off & skipped Google account set-up
Saw an H instead of an R above the signal icon
Tested: it works
Data Roaming box is unchecked.
I have got the roaming icon too. I have got Tele2 which uses the network of T-Mobile. I noticed that this is the case since I updated to 4.4.3, so it must be new since then.
