Huh? Leaked? Skyfire sent out emails Tuesday saying they opened the beta for anyone to download without waiting for an invitation.
Skyfire was released to the public, try reading their website sometime.

...because the developers haven't written it in the software... it doesn't remember settings on reboot
i was hoping the dev's would further develop this app, but it has been at 3.0.8 for months now... so i think it has been deserted.
does the job though...

Thank you for doing this! I have a stupid question, but I have to ask it, because I don't know how MarketAccess works.
Can you (or anybody) confirm that only the market is fooled? By this, I mean, I want to be sure that neither my telco nor the telco I'm spoofing will charge me for roaming and that any data I actually download while spoofing my location will still go through my normal APNs?
Thanks for your answer.
MarketAccess emulates SIM numeric of the chosen operator. My local provider APNs continue to work fine with no extra charges when I have T-Mobile emulated.
However, it may affect other applications which also depend on the SIM numeric. For example, the APN Settings dialog will start to show the APNs valid for the emulated provider (SIM numeric = MCC+MNC in the APN settings). To be on the safe side remove the APNs for the emulated provider or change the APN server to your local one, but with the MCC/MNC of the emulated provider.
In theory it may alert such application as WaveSecure and SIM Checker. But I have WaveSecure installed and it seems to live fine with the emulated SIM numeric. One user reported that SIM Checker also works fine.
If you feel paranoid, then just disable the GPRS/EDGE/3G using APNdroid or Toggle Data and buy/download the applications via WiFi. Once downloaded, restore your original SIM numeric and enable data transfer.
Thank you for your comprehensive answer!
SIM Checker dev here. I can confirm that there are no problems with MarketAccess, since the SIM numeric value is not used to determine if the SIM card has been changed.
ok i get what it does but what special apps do you need this to get?

You need MarketAccess to buy any application from Market in the countries where paid applications are not listed in the Market. Is that the answer you were looking for?
so being in the us there is really no need for it? or are there specific apps that can only be seen using this

Developers can choose where to distribute their applications. So we can guess that there are some apps limited to certain countries. I don't know of any specific examples.

What do you want to use the letters for?
The dialer is the dialer for phone calls, it requires numbers to make a call. The letters are a hold-over on all phones from when your number was something like Klondike3-4632.
first thanks for your answer.but we have some USSD and secret codes for the phone that contains letters. also if they are not functioning then why are they in the Daimler screen

What is USSD?
What secret codes for the phone require you type an actual letter in the dialer?
What phone lets you type an actual letter in the dialer? I've not noticed one, but I've never really looked into it.
They're there because all phones have them; some people and companies use letters to give out their phone number instead of all numbers: example, the local radio station tells you to call 800-777-KBIG; the KBIG aren't actual letters though, they're just an easy way to remember the phone number, and you would push 5244 on the actual phone by reading the letters on it. I even do this with my personal Google Voice number; I was lucky enough to be able to get one that actually spells my last name, so I just tell people to dial my last name and they easily remember the number.
You're the first person I've ever seen question this. Maybe we can both learn something here.
first the secret code is *#*#checkin#*#* to search for updates.
seconmd the USSD Unstructured Supplementary Service Data depending on the service provider
third the phone that can do this is xperia x10i with android 1.6
finally thanks

See distortedloop's post again. The "code" you're talking about should be typed using the appropriate numbers based on the letters shown on the keypad. They don't have to show up as letters.

Like @kaimyn says...REREAD my post.
*#*#checkin#*#* doesn't require you to input the letters! Those letters are, just as described above, a way to make it easier for you to remember the secret code. You just replace each letter with the number on dialer keypad that shows that letter.
In other words the ACTUAL secret code to checkin isn't *#*#checkin#*#* it is *#*#2432546#*#*. Try it and see.
As for USSD, never heard of it, so can't help you there.
I'm fairly certain that with the stock dialer you cannot do what you're asking. Maybe some third party replacement dialer from the Market can do what you're after.
Btw, *#*#checkin#*#* and *#*#info#*#* are NOT USSD codes. They're just secret codes on Android. USSD codes are those codes AT&T and T-Mobile uses that you can get your bill balance, text used, minutes used. Example USSD code is #MIN#, #BAL# for T-Mobile.
And typing USSD codes is the same way, type the number that corresponds to the letter.
#MIN# = #646#

I have just tried to enter a postcode into a contacts address but the only field is zipcode and it has the field locked to numbers, you cannot even paste a postcode into the field, is this a region issue I cannot find an option to change this but any setting I have in the phone are English (UK)
Not spotted this but you're correct
For now until this is fixed, hopefully, if contacts are entered in outlook and synced then the postcode will transfer ok.
That seems to work but very annoying.

I agree with you as I generally enter details into phone and then sync to outlook when home........... now it's back to pen and paper when I'm out!!!!!!
same problem
i cant type in a post code apparently this is a common fault when i rang htc he found the fault to however he used the word "feature" and then said we may fix it if it is important... i said i type in 2 addresses a day i need to be able to type a post code as i have 2000 names and addresses in my phone
Not being able to enter a postcode is an annoying bug for a UK phone. You'd have thought that would have been picked up in testing. Guess I'll have to enter postcodes via GMail in a browser for now.

Is this a joke??? "may fix it if it is important"?? I use my phone to enter contacts all the time and these then sync OTA to Outlook. It is an essential feature for me. If this doesn't work there is no way I'm getting this phone.
I think that in this situation complaining directly to Vodafone is the best solution and also opening a thread on their forums. People in other countries can do the same with Vodafaone/their local carrier. The carriers will then take it up with HTC and I expect that it will be fixed.

Not got the phone yet (b'day at the end of June so have to wait a bit ... ) but tested this on my Desire HD and the People app on this allows you to add a UK post code (though it calls it a zip code - doh! ). I'm on 2.3.3 and fail to see why you can't do it from a software point of view. Have they never heard of code re-use?
Still, 99.99% of my contacts are sync'ed from Outlook so no problems. Can you not add the post code as a note and edit it back in Outlook later to "work around" the issue for now? It does peeve me when 'localised' apps aren't really localised at all, just, for the UK anyway, a variation of the US version. Null points!

Step 2:
Obtain a google voice account
Step 3:

the delay is close to 2 secs.
I can't seem to get the IPKall number verified through google voice. I keep pressing the 2 digit code google tells you to use but she keeps saying "sorry, I didn't get that" then eventually saying "sorry that you're having trouble, please call back later"
Am I doing something wrong?
Shame it's only US
Should edit title to say [US-Only]
Even if you manage to activate outside of US using a US #, anyone calling that number will be charged international fees (since its a number in the US) and you can't forward Google Voice calls to your own phone outside of US.

great. however you must setup your delay settings and use a diff stun server if delay or feedback is present. refer to my references under stun servers if this is the case for you. i notice after extensive testing that when im testing while both devices are in the same room, you will have feedback sometimes; however when i call my friends, fam, fiance, they dont hear it.

This is similar to what I am running on my Droid Incredible. I use Sipdroid, with a Soho Pbxes account and GV. In this config I can go internationally, and as long as I have a wifi connection the calls will be free, including inbound.
Guys, I'm moving this to Apps and themes as it isn' strictly ROM DEV
Great work though, I'm hoping that we can get some sort of call / MMS support on the 3G model when released

can you post more info on step #3 on how to do this? i'm lost at this point. dont understand sorry.....tyvm for any info
I have been using a similar setup for a while now, but minus the ipkall. If you have pbxes.org hooked into google voice, why do you need the intermediary number? And if you don't, how are you doing outgoing calls? Last I checked, ipkall was incoming only.
