Updated baseband... - T-Mobile LG G2x

Is there any way to get it other than using lg updater? I have to try to get gps working, its driving me nuts.

Nope
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium

The LG updater is a poorly written piece of crap, but it worked for me. And honestly it also worked for most around here that have used it. I know there are some people that have had problems and I don't want marginalize them but it is what it is.
I simply followed the instructions and it worked like a charm on the first try. There are multiple posts on this board stating that the updater will only work correctly when used with Windows XP, but I had complete success using it on an HP i5 lapptop running a clean install of Win 7 Enterprise 64bit. Of course if you are running a Mac then I don't think anyone can help you
Removing the LG software from your PC once it is no longer needed is another story altogether... hot damn if they don't need to be taught a lesson, but that horse is barely breathing.
If you are the kind of person that is uncomfortable installing drivers and the like on your PC then I can understand your reluctance to dive into this process. Unfortunately your phone is not going to get the new (and improved) baseband unless someone plugs into a USB port and runs the updater.
You're about 3000 miles away from me so there is little chance we're going to find a USB cable long enough to use my with computer and your phone. Perhaps you can find someone with a suitable computer and skill set near you.

[Q] Need help fixing my Infuse, more info inside

Alright, so, to get started, I am actually decently tech savvy, and I wish i had rooted my phone before I even tried following the crap that samsung put up, but heres how it went.
I have a Samsung Infuse 4G on the ATT network
I finally found out how to update to Gingerbread through Kies. I spent all night charging my phone, went to Kies, and started the upgrade. About 6% through the upgrade, it said it needed an emergency recovery. I was worried, and I followed all instructions. I let the emergency recovery page sit for a day, and all it did was sit at 6% the whole time, so I resorted to my next best option, rooting it.
I have tried Ultimate Unbrick, One Click Unbrick, and Hiemdall, though I didn't get extensive with Hiemdall.
One Click said it was successful, but my phone doesn't turn on, so I tried the emergency recovery again, and still sat at 6%, then it switched to that it couldn't fix it.
Ultimate Unbrick starts off well, seeming as it is doing soemthing, but then freezes at factoryfs.rfs. Mind you I am running it in compatability mode for XP SP2 as an administrator, and I have run it on Win7 as an admin as well.
Hiemdall I got a little confused, so Im going to try that again.
Im gonna have to say, Im done with Samsung after this phone. Ive had samsung phones for 10 years (not by choice, im 19 and my mom pays for it), and every time something stupid happens, its like they kill themselves on purpose.
Is anyone possibly able to help me get my phone back to working condition? I wont be able to get a new phone for about a month, and thats only if I can find a job, which is hard when I have no phone.
Thank you to anyone who can help.
Does your phone display anything on its screen at all? If so, there's still hope.
Have you installed drivers properly?
Make sure that anything related to Kies is killed on your computer's task manager.
Try using different USB ports.
As much as possible, use a Windows XP. I had the same "stuck at factoryfs.rfs" problem and I tried it at an XP and it worked.
If nothing works, try buying a jig off of e-bay. They're about a dollar or two. Invest in some.
If it's completely borked, time to go buy an S3.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
I can get into download mode where it shows the android shoveling in a caution sign
I installed the drivers
I havent checked that kies thing yet, Ill do that now
Ill try another USB port and get back to ya on that part
I don't own any computers with windows XP. Only a Win7 and a crappy laptop with Ubuntu on it (the laptop is crappy, not ubuntu)
Im so broke a candybar looks like rich food
And Im done with Samsung after this, Ill prob go windows phone and hack the Android market onto it.
LMAO Idk I still like Samsung over HTC and Apple. It can get really complicated --yes -- but it's worth.
Also, make sure to restart computer and then do the things I suggested you to do.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Im aiming for Nokia.
So, I disabled kies
Restarted my computer
Tried a different USB port
restarted Odin
Reran everything
and now, it wont even get to factoryfs.rfs
Do you possibly have a link to Hiemdall thats the newest version?
You should restart before disabling Kies. This is because of the fact that when you restart, your computer re-runs Kies.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
I disabled after I restarted as well. Sorry, my steps were out of order.
Hmmm that's odd. Try it on a different computer tomorrow. Possibly a friend's?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Im gonna try heimdall first and see if I can contact a friend tomorrow. I just moved and my friends out here are more busy than the other ones I used to live by.
Heimdall Link.
Try fresh installation remove drivers from Driver Manger, run the drivers again and use Heimdall package. you need to have latest java and it need to be run as application not in any of the zip/jar file opener like 7zip etc., right click and you will see run using java<your version >
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081
it is clearly explained on the link what to do,
If you found difficult you can read the thread to see some probable answers as well.
Hope it will solve your query.

[Q] HELP! Need to Root NS4g w/o computer! pwease? 8)

I'm not new to android whatsoever.. I've just returned from an Iphone 4s cause i was missing the openess of android. Now.. i've pulled out my old Nexus S 4g, Updated it to 4.0.4 and i cant get it to connect to my computer for the life of me! tried 4 different cables, 5 different computers, every driver i could find and nothing. I've come to believe this is a software failure... All i need is root and i will be able to sleep at night. Could someone package up .zip to give root and twrp recovery that i could flash through stock recovery? I dont know else i could do to get root... but this problem is becoming quite annoying.
1. There is no way to package a zip to flash through stock recovery since it would have to be signed.
2.For someone who is "not new to android whatsoever" making 2 threads about the same topic 2 minutes apart isn't exactly acting the part.
Try this guide.
Actually you're wrong, On the Epic 4G someone did in fact manage to do so. And yeah since i'm not new to these forums i understand that stuff like this gets overlooked so i made two posts. Cry me a river.
BTW Thanks harb... but that would involve being able to connect to my PC. Which just is not possible right now.
Thats the Android Karma... it happens but a little advice.
If you can't connect to the computer then it might a hardware issue not software.
If getting root was that easy that you just had to flash a zip on stock then everyone would be doing it. And good luck getting root without unlocking your bootloader first. Not to be rude but the problem could possibly be between the computer and the chair.

It's ok, not rude. I understand what you are saying... but did you not read what i just said? somebody had accomplished this on the Epic 4G and i'm just trying to find someone who has done it with the NS4G.. I've had 4 Android devices, rooted them all and been here since the beginning. It's not a hardware problem, it connected fine before when it was on gingerbread... i downloaded the OTA ICS then flashed through stock recovery.. but if you read what i said in the first post this problem only occured AFTER updating. This is why i quit using XDA a long time ago, because people just post a bunch of useless information instead of trying to help... The problem is not me my friend, its the damned ICS update, i've read multiple posts all over the interweb w/ people who have had the same problem, yet no resolutions other than bending up the micro usb male piece on my phone which is not the problem as i said it was working fine before i updated. Have tried multiple samsung drivers, pda net, and Android SDK Drivers, multiple Cords from samsung, to htc, to blackberry and palm pre and even a nokia one now. and 5 different computers... so tell me smart guy, what would you do?

Bro... Chill... They're just trying to help you out. There is NO way to to root your NS without a computer (currently. We are not Epic 4G owners here). You said you didn't use your NS since GB, SO during the time in between something could have happened to the hardware. Don't rule that out just yet. Your drivers might also be bad. Is this what migrating to iOS does to people? Makes them snobby and demand fixes to problems they can't figure out on their own? Don't hate on the XDA forums. If we're not helping you "hit the thanks button anyways, you ungrateful bastard" (XDA into video ). Anywho. Chill. Keep trying.

Intellidemmand (800/100)

I am chill, i am just trying to describe what I've already done so maybe someone could suggest something else. And no what i meant is i downloaded the OTA on my computer than transferred it onto my Nexus through USB mount a couple of days ago so i know its not a hardware issue. Im not demanding fixes, just trying to see if anyone has done been able to figure this out yet as i know im not the only one with this issue. And there is a big problem w/ people on the XDA forums as a whole.. i am a little frustrated and just dont like when someone is telling me is a User issue when i have tried everything conceivable and know what i am doing.. Sorry if this offended you. and IOS is a good device.. its just like.. NWO they want to control everything haha. I'd rather be part of the rebel faction. even though i love my ipad XD
There is currently no way to root 4.0.4 without an unlocked bootloader (and no custom recovery), and the only way to get an unlocked bootloader is to either have root or plug it into the PC and unlock via fastboot. As such, you are stuck with sorting out drivers - despite how annoying they are.
The video i linked to above describes in detail (and through video) exactly how to sort out NS drivers on Windows machines as well as the required fastboot commands to get a custom recovery.

Yes that is a good video, and does a job well done in describing on how to install drivers. My main issue is that my Computer(s) are'nt recognized my device at all... It doesn't show up as android device, or nexus s... but Unknown device. If i could figure this out i believe i could handle the rest.

Pretty sure that video describes that. You need to open up device manager, double click unknown device (while device is in fastboot), hit update driver and navigate to the provided drivers on the site. Watch it a few times, you'll figure it out.
Have you tried to install PDANet? I've read numerous times about it working wonders for users who have trouble with drivers. It has all of the necessary drivers built in.

yes i second that,PDANet Drivers usually work across all devices you should try them.
Like ppl said before, try PdaNet drivers it might help.
thanks everyone, , but like i said i tried pretty much every driver you can find online. they will not install as my device comes up as "Unknown", i've literally tried every piece of literature on the web relating to this issue... at this point i'm just going to wait for the JB update and see what happens.

So the ICS update makes you unable to boot to fastboot and makes your device unable to be recognized by your computer from there?
That's a new one. As far as I know, "Unknown device" is actually your device being recognized, just the driver doesn't get installed correctly.
Have you tried manually specifying which driver to install and selecting the PDA Net driver? Look at Harbb's last post.
Have you went as far as editing the drivers inf to match your hardware ID? I know I had to do that way back when the PDA net drivers weren't even available.
'til then, user error.

I swear you people don't listen, look i did everything in the video exact when i try to manually specify the driver it comes back saying that the folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible driver for your device... I'm not an imbecile and know how to follow instructions on a video. I know most people skip research cause they're too lazy to figure it out themselves... i posted on here as a last resort and feel like people are telling me what i already know then telling me its my fault, ridiculous. if you guys are just going to repeat what the last five people have said instead of trying to offer a new soloution then why even bother posting?
Epic 4G could do this in FROYO... It was patched by google in 2.3+. Do you want an app to secretly root you and install malware?

Well it is going to be basically one of two things.
1. Is user error of some sort. That is what people have been trying to help with.
2. Is hardware issue that no one can help you with of course. Or some software issue causing it to not show up for who knows what reason. Neither of which folks can help with since a computer is not seeing it. So they revert back to what they can. Point 1
When you asked a question like is there a zip that you can flash in stock recovery to give you root or custom recovery that also doesn't help your cause for people assuming user error.
The one other thing you can try is download mode and Odin.

Cool. Trash your Nexus S, clearly broken.
Edit: That's nice of you albundy, but Mr grumpySasquatch (fitting name eh?) has tried everything, including modding the drivers inf. His Nexus S is broken beyond repair, also the first one we've ever seen that won't adb but works fine for USB mounting. *chuckle*

Don't often have access to a PC, what should I do?

So I'm rooted, bootloader unlocked, and running the latest Synergy nightly (r46). I, and most of my friends, all have Mac computers (gasp! I know...), but for the next day or so I'm at my parents' house, where I'll have access to a PC. I've already backed up my NV/IMEI data, that was the first thing I wanted to do. My question is, is there anything else, PC-specific that I should do while I'm here? Is it worth updating the baseband or anything like that? I know anything Odin related will need to be done on a PC. I don't have any GPS issues that plague some people on custom ROMs. Anyway, just wondering if there is anything I should take advantage of while I'm around a PC. TIA!

To answer your question, if you already have your status info backed up as you say, then radio upgrade is the only thing I can think of.
You need to ge tyourself a dual boot computer not to worry about this issue. Dump the Mac, supporting Apple is supporting terrorism.
Take one of your old computers (doesn't everyone have one?) with windows XP or any other windows. If you don't have one, spend $200 to get a nice refurbished laptop from Dell Ebay store
http://stores.ebay.com/Dell-Financial/_i.html?_fsub=3&_sc=1&_sop=1
Once you have it, Install Ubuntu side by side the windows OS. Use crappy Windows for ODIN only work, and Ubuntu for everything else. Become a superstar

Rooting with Mac Snow Leopard

I have not only searched this forum, but have searched everywhere that I could think of for an answer. I finally decided to root and unlock my bootloader. My biggest problem is this:
1. My Mac is running 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). The required Java files that you have to download only work with 10.7 (Lion) and higher. I have not been able to find a work around for this yet. I prefer to use this method with Adam's Casuals software.
2. I also have a virtual machine with Windows 7. I finally got all of the drivers installed and tried Noxious Ninja's method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792342 and that program just runs through without doing anything. I have verified that all files and drivers are installed and that the phone is actually connected to my virtual machine.
I really don't want to give Apple another penny of my money or I would go buy Lion upgrade. I also don't support pirating, so, that option is off of the table as well even though we are talking about the greediest, most evil company out there. I am seriously debating on selling my MacBook Pro and getting a PC at this point.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Apple is really greedy because their upgrades are $20 compared to $100 + windows upgrades. They are kinda greedy but its the same way bill gates got rich. Anyways i would just say update to Mtn Lion. Only $20 and works good. Rooted my phone with Casual on Mtn Lion.
I was running leopard and was able to root and unlock my bootloader by using Adam outlers root tool. I found it on Droid Life. I searched these forums but couldn't find the threads location. I deleted the email with the link but if I find it I'll post it. Search for Adams unlock tool because I rooted using the same program

Okay, I tried this and can't seem to get it to work either. It loads up fine but does not connect so I don't have the option to do anything else. I have checked and made sure that nothing else is running between the phone and computer. I was using Android File Transfer which was working very good, but turned it off and still no go. That lets me know that I do at least have a good connection between the Mac and S3.
Does anyone know of anything that I can try?
Nobody else has run into this problem? I have spent the better part of last night and this morning and still have not been able to find an answer. I just can't figure out why Android File Transfer will work perfectly and the Casual program will not even connect. I even double checked to make sure that my computer was up to date with software updates. The only thing that isn't up to date is obviously I am running Snow Leopard instead of Mountain Lion.

Is USB Debugging on in Developer Options and using the OEM USB cable?
Yes, my daughter came by with her PC and I rooted it without any issues. I would still like to know why I couldn't get those issues resolved.
Now, back to reading so I can back up my IMEI and figure out which ROM to flash! I am also thinking of flashing the newer radio to see if reception improves.

Glad you got it working, I would recommend Paranoid Android Rom for Stock it runs the smoothest i think and you have the option of using tablet mode.
I ran into the same problem you ran into with Casual not seeing my phone but that was on Lion on my MBP. My iMac running Snow Leopard worked fine without any problems. I asked Adam about this and he said its an issue with the Apple hardware, some see the phones and some don't, it's hit or miss luckily for me one of my systems recognized the phone.
= sent from my Unlocked VZW S3 =
Okay, I found out the issue. Hopefully this will help someone else that has the same problem. The problem came from Easy Tether. I found a page after all of the digging that worked for me (couldn't get adb to work right either) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6026948/cant-find-android-device-using-adb-devices-command is the page that tells you how to disable it so that adb can communicate with it. I just backed up my IMEI with abd and am feeling pretty good!

Just an observation

My sister has this phone and its pretty cool, still love my epic more though. ahem anyway. I've been part of the community at the Epic 4G for some years now and I have realized the importance of gathering the few devs you have and going towards a common goal, only then will you achieve more than what you've been able to do so far.
I see an unofficial CM7, unofficial CM9, and unofficial CM10 and unofficial CM10.1
My suggestion? Depreciate CM7 or finish that with your devs from their respective talent. If that gets depreciated/fails, you as devs of this community will learn from it and grow that much stronger/smarter from it.
Of course, from here I'd try to fix CM9, although, if it takes you more than 3 months to make it to stable, move on and depreciate it as well, you devs are more than capable and by no means should you feel this is under a time-constraint but set your volounteer goals and stick to it, or allow new devs to step in.
If CM9 proves to be a challenge, and you weren't able to progress much, might I suggest you make sure you've made the jump from the 2.6.7 kernel and move on to making yourselves the 3.x.x kernel? You'll be able to use it on ICS and it will prove helpful for Jelly bean 4.1.2/CM10..
CM10 will be yet again another task for you guys, although imo, crucial if you plan on fixing CM10.1
Again, this is just an observation and I did not research for the possibility that you guys may already have a mostly-working 3.x.x kernel. I sure wish I could help you guys, I know the brains that would assist, and I have the pc power to give it a shot, but yeah. I hope you guys have your testers giving you logcats.
Good luck guys!
GS4G Devs working on CM Builds, pm me what you're doing to help, what you guys are stuck on, and I'll forward it to the appropriate geniuses who have already dissolved those issues on different variants of your phone myself.
I wish nothing but the best to all of you, you have a sweet phone, and you all deserve official CM Support like the rest of us.

Note Bene: FYI, your Heimdall One-Click solution is useless on 64-Bit setups unless you go through the hassle of using Heimdall FrontEnd. Also, I suggest you update the stock tar of your latest GB Odin, while unreliable for some, we should not be left to dry with just a download link from the outdated multi-upload site. I had to dig deep to find an odin tar that worked for this.
Heimdall works perfectly on my 64bit windows 8. I know only on an Ubuntu issue.

No heimdal one clicks work fine on 64-bit ubuntu. Now with the updates ubuntu could have broken a function but 12.04 was working fine for me.
This post will be met with a lot of hostility, so be prepared. There is limited people working here since this isnt a very popular phone. Some people share everything while others keep everything they can to themselves. Its a good stepping stone phone and is capable of running JB. But there are plenty other devices with more developers and rom porters. Most people get this phone because its the best phone offered for the monthly 4G plans. Not sure what T-mo is offering now but a year ago this was the only phone with atleast a 4inch screen they offered for the monthly prepaid plans.

But there are plenty other devices with more developers and rom porters. Most people get this phone because its the best phone offered for the monthly 4G plans. Not sure what T-mo is offering now but a year ago this was the only phone with atleast a 4inch screen they offered for the monthly prepaid plans.

I see, and yes, its not meant to be taken as ordering around or anything, I'm just a bystander from a different section who has seen and closely followed progress of development and as I see how fragmented your android development section seems to be, it just seems like something to post as an observation. Mostly 2-3 people got our phone to official cm support status, so don't feel discouraged guys. Your devs could always reach out to the other dev community for direction, but anyway I hope you guys get official soon.

If you cant get it to work on windows7 64 look at lumin30s guide. He has a program that will remove any samasung drivers so you can install the ones from heimdal. It sounds like that is the problem. Also make sure you are not using the same port for heimdal as you did for odin.
Yeah... Heimdall works for me on 64-bit Windows 7 and Windows 8 both. So if it doesn't work for you, it's something on your setup, not an issue with Heimdall itself.
just so you know, use the usb ports on the back of the pc. the ones on the front have been known to cause problems and not recognizing the device. that is of course if you are trying to use the front ones.

I used and troubleshooted with different ports, it just is so stubborn. I'll take a look at it. It's weird because I've used Heimdall before.

It's got to be my setup then, although, just the fact that I had the samsung drivers, it being properly recognized, and then heimdall not recognizing it sure fooled me at who to blame.

Oh dear, I don't think I've used a desktop for programming/flashing (nothing wrong with that though). All of it on laptops.
By the by, it sure did seem easy to blame heimdall everything else checked out. Although I've already odin'd the T959V phone, I'll still check out the guide. I'll run some command lines and uninstall everything that has to do with android to see if that may allow Heimdall to recognize it in download mode.

Mine is on laptops as well. And note that with Heimdall, I believe it was supposed to be using the drivers from Heimdall (from zadig) rather than from Samsung. Believe I'm using the WinUSB driver type. Hope it helps. Also, remember to reboot after installing...

Explains why I figured front-end heimdall worked fine (usage of zadig) as opposed to the packaged version. Makes sense. New laptop so zadig was probably not a priority in my work apps. Lol thanks.

The SGS4G is a real finicky phone things that work for other samsung phones just fail on it. Most of the time it is a driver issue. And for a select few they just cant use heimdall.

Again my response above the SGS4G is a real finicky phone. I even think AdamOutler mentioned it in one of his posts/videos at how super finicky it is. I know I avoided it for so long because the first couple times I tried it it would fail. Ive helped a couple people that just could not get it to work on their laptop. Most people that have issues are using laptops and for some reason there is nothing that can be done to get it working. You might fall into that category for this device.
