Phone>menu>people>view> uncheck the sim card contacts option. Not really deleting the contacts but atleast they won't bother you if you can't delete them.

I was able to delete them while on the beast rom. Don't know how or why but it worked. Didn't stay on that rom but contacts were gone when I flashed back to super lite.

Thanks but I figured out

Delete Sims contacts
Goto Contacts app
hit menu > view > uncheck all, leaving only sim contacts checked > done
hit menu > delete > select ones you want to delete or select all > delete
back > view > recheck contacts you want displayed (google)

[Q] Contact view issue

My contact list under "Phone" shows duplicate contacts from google account and from SIM card. I only want only the SIM card contacts to show when I hit "Phone".
I've tried everything to only show from one source but nothing is working. I've tried merging the contacts, going to the "View" option and clicking to show SIM contacts only. I've searched the forums and have read the manual, can't find anything.
Please help.
Thanks.
Go to sync options and turn off sync contacts under [email protected]. Then go to view contacts only from google. delete them all. Then switch back to view contacts from phone.

Thanks for the help, BonesRed. Can you elaborate on this part?
"Then go to view contacts only from google. delete them all. Then switch back to view contacts from phone."
I tried this but it doesn't seem to work.
You don't need to do all that. Just go to your contacts and hit menu key + view+SIM only contact.

Yes, that's true, but that only does it under the contact list, but doesn't apply to the phone list from the home screen.
Thanks.
why would you want to use Sim card contacts?
with google you can store more then just the name and 1 phone number(multiple number/emails/ect) plus it updates live.
and if you ever loose your phone, you never have to worry about loosing your contacts as it's stored in your gmail account...

Won't that delete all of his Google contacts if for some reason that syncing gets turned back on?

the contacts are still there if you do this & still would show up when trying to dial.
My only way to get out of this was to quickly shut off contact syncing right after I put in my google credentials.
Another thing you can do is to shut off google contact sync. then go to Settings>Applications & delete the data for Contact Storage. Once that's done resync with whatever you did for your normal contacts.

+1 I totally forgot you could just clear the cache. That's the best way to do it.

[Q] Contact list(s) please help!!

Hey guys, so i have a problem. I know that in the contacts I can hide all the repeated contacts, meaning the duplicates that show up from google, and t-mobile, and the ones on the SIM card. I have all my contacts linked thro HTC facebook. But when I go to the dialer or to send message it shows all my contacts, so some people show up 4 times!
Is there anyway to hide all the duplicate contacts in dialer and MMS, and secondly, when I receive a message from someone it shows their SIM contact which has no picture and their name as I put it in, and not as it has been "linked"
Thanks in advance!
I am on the same boat. Its annoying cause I only want the Google contacts. Mines has both synced T-Mobile backup and Google. Gonna reset the phone and remove the T-Mobile app before I sync anything and get back to u

I had this problem and it was unbelievably frustrating when I first got this and after a few days of searching and banging my head against the wall, I found something that worked.
This is how you solve it (or how I solved mine).
1: Sync everything to Google. Edit the contact list in google (use the automatic duplicate deletion), delete useless contacts etc.
2. Remove contacts from EVERYWHERE. Sim card, phone, uncheck google sync. Your phone should then be completely empty for contacts.
3. Re-sync with google contacts. if you want you can copy it back to the SIM and you shouldn't get doubles. I think I just left it with google only but the end result is I don't have 9 different "danny's" show up when I go to compose new message because I know three of them.
Ok great, I'll try that out.. When they gave me my phone, I told the employee at the store that I didn't want the tmobile contacts, and yet, she still set it up. I hope they fix these silly thongs with the update
Try this
I had the same problem, shows same contact more then 1 time. i resolved it this way
1) Go to Contacts (App)
2) Press Menu button (2nd touch button from left)
3) Select View
4) Now select (Check Mark) the contact you want to see. in my case i unchecked all option but Google and Facebook for HTC
5) Select done.
now it will only shows single entry for each contact
Thanks

[Q] Delete SIM Contacts

I just upgraded from myt3g (didn't have sim contacts problem), before that some crap phone I forgot. But on my new sensation, My SIM contacts are present (duplicates of what I have in my gmail contacts) and I'd like to delete them. I hold down and click delete but that doesn't work. I go to the delete menu and select all the ones that are SIM and delete, but that doesn't work either.
Any way to delete SIM contacts?
So if you go into your contacts, press the menu button, and select view, you should be able to uncheck the sim option which should remove them from your list. Have you tried that yet?
Is it possible that they got synced to you're google account when you initialized the phone right when you got it? Or the person helping you set it up did it for you?
Delete Sims contacts
On Sensation
Goto Contacts app
hit menu > view > uncheck all, leaving only sim contacts checked > done
hit menu > delete > select ones you want to delete or select all > delete
back > view > recheck contacts you want displayed (google)
I've installed many sim contact apps. None of them worked! Thanks
Sorry, you can't delete SIM contacts as far as I know. If you try deleting them it will show a deleting progress bar but nothing happens. You can delete contacts from other sources however.
I took my sim out, borrowed someone else's regular phone and deleted it from there.
Really retarded how you can't even ignore the sim contacts.

Yes you can delete your SIM contacts. If you do not know how to do a simple thing doesn't mean it can't be done.
use this https://market.android.com/details?id=com.happydroid.c2s&feature=search_result
just put the sim in other foon and delete the contact there

Don't you think I already did that? I wrote earlier and explicitly said that it didn't work. I did exactly as you quoted. I even told you there was a progress bar that showed it was being "deleted." And like I mentioned it did nothing.
I moved my sim to another phone and it deleted it just fine. I could however, delete contacts from other sources, just not the SIM sources. Maybe you modified your phone to do stuff differently, my phone is a rooted stock ROM.

I have done this in 3 different HTC mobiles out of the box when I bought them with stock ROM and not rooted so if you still can not do it maybe there is something wrong with your phone and you should check it.

This is just stupid. Why isn't there a simple setting for this ??????
With the different apps you can choose to move/copy contacts to SIM and delete contacts from SIM etc. But why not a default
"Show only contacts from"
-SIM
-Phone
-SIM & Phone
-Whatever
and NO, there is no "View" setting on my phone
Anyone got a tip on an app that can actually do what I want ? Which is to show only the contacts which are on the phone and only the ones that I choose ?

I don't want to move or copy or delete anything. I just want to hide it on the phone.
SIM card deletion
I had the same problem with my HTC Sensation.
1. Remove the back cover (Do not remove battery)
2. Gently move your SIM card around to improve connection
3. Try to remove contacts again.
Hope this helps!

SIM card full

I have a message on my phone that says that my SIM card is full and I need to clear out messages. Downloaded a SIM card contacts app to view what I have on it and it indicated my SIM card is empty. I also deleted all of my text messages, rebooted the device, cleaned off the card (physically), etc following instructions from multiple threads there. No dice.
Any idea what this thing's problem is?

I don't have any. Do I just go to the store of my carrier and request they set me up with a new one?

Your sim card if full because you've been saving your contacts to your sim card and you shouldn't have done that you should be saving your contacts in you Gmail account you need to delete the contacts from sim and uncheck back up contacts to sim and check gmail account so you will always have your contacts even if you get another Android device

Maybe U can try another one.

[Q] Phone reporting sim card removed when using contacts

When I going into the phonebook application and start scrolling contacts or try adding contacts I get a notification come up saying that my SIM card has been removed and I have to reboot my device!!??
Any Ideas?
You might just need a new SIM card. Verizon should replace it for free.
