I have a message on my phone that says that my SIM card is full and I need to clear out messages. Downloaded a SIM card contacts app to view what I have on it and it indicated my SIM card is empty. I also deleted all of my text messages, rebooted the device, cleaned off the card (physically), etc following instructions from multiple threads there. No dice.
Any idea what this thing's problem is?

maybe your SIm card is broken? Have you tried other SIMs on your phone?

I don't have any. Do I just go to the store of my carrier and request they set me up with a new one?

Yup, I had an old Sim, and when I bought this phone I had to get a new one.

Your sim card if full because you've been saving your contacts to your sim card and you shouldn't have done that you should be saving your contacts in you Gmail account you need to delete the contacts from sim and uncheck back up contacts to sim and check gmail account so you will always have your contacts even if you get another Android device

I accidentally copied a few useless texts to my SIM card. How do I delete them from the SIM card? I tried going into SIM Management via Contacts to no avail.
Thanks, in advance!

While in messaging, Press Menu button>Settings then select Manage SIM Card Messages
Thanks so much! This is my first smartphone, so I appreciate the fact even the most elementary questions (read: my dumb question) are answered.

I had a message popping up saying "SIM card full, delete messages". I would click on this message, and it would open the standard messaging app called: Messaging. I kept going through and deleting all my SIM messages (unknowingly using the Messaging app at this time) and then it would automatically refresh, only to show me all the exact same SIM messages, not deleted.
Textra was set as my default messaging app.
To resolve this issue and finally delete all my SIM messages, I had to activate the de-activated Messaging app, click on settings->manage SIM messages->select all the messages and delete them. This finally refreshed to show no more SIM messages. I then re-activated Textra and everything was back to normal.
How do I retrieve a message that I moved to a secure box of my HTC desire android
I just upgraded from myt3g (didn't have sim contacts problem), before that some crap phone I forgot. But on my new sensation, My SIM contacts are present (duplicates of what I have in my gmail contacts) and I'd like to delete them. I hold down and click delete but that doesn't work. I go to the delete menu and select all the ones that are SIM and delete, but that doesn't work either.
Any way to delete SIM contacts?
So if you go into your contacts, press the menu button, and select view, you should be able to uncheck the sim option which should remove them from your list. Have you tried that yet?
Is it possible that they got synced to you're google account when you initialized the phone right when you got it? Or the person helping you set it up did it for you?
Delete Sims contacts
On Sensation
Goto Contacts app
hit menu > view > uncheck all, leaving only sim contacts checked > done
hit menu > delete > select ones you want to delete or select all > delete
back > view > recheck contacts you want displayed (google)
I've installed many sim contact apps. None of them worked! Thanks
Sorry, you can't delete SIM contacts as far as I know. If you try deleting them it will show a deleting progress bar but nothing happens. You can delete contacts from other sources however.
I took my sim out, borrowed someone else's regular phone and deleted it from there.
Really retarded how you can't even ignore the sim contacts.

Correct, this is the way to delete your SIM contacts after they have been Sync with Gmail

Yes you can delete your SIM contacts. If you do not know how to do a simple thing doesn't mean it can't be done.
use this https://market.android.com/details?id=com.happydroid.c2s&feature=search_result
just put the sim in other foon and delete the contact there

Don't you think I already did that? I wrote earlier and explicitly said that it didn't work. I did exactly as you quoted. I even told you there was a progress bar that showed it was being "deleted." And like I mentioned it did nothing.
I moved my sim to another phone and it deleted it just fine. I could however, delete contacts from other sources, just not the SIM sources. Maybe you modified your phone to do stuff differently, my phone is a rooted stock ROM.

I have done this in 3 different HTC mobiles out of the box when I bought them with stock ROM and not rooted so if you still can not do it maybe there is something wrong with your phone and you should check it.

This is just stupid. Why isn't there a simple setting for this ??????
With the different apps you can choose to move/copy contacts to SIM and delete contacts from SIM etc. But why not a default
"Show only contacts from"
-SIM
-Phone
-SIM & Phone
-Whatever
and NO, there is no "View" setting on my phone
Anyone got a tip on an app that can actually do what I want ? Which is to show only the contacts which are on the phone and only the ones that I choose ?

I don't want to move or copy or delete anything. I just want to hide it on the phone.
SIM card deletion
I had the same problem with my HTC Sensation.
1. Remove the back cover (Do not remove battery)
2. Gently move your SIM card around to improve connection
3. Try to remove contacts again.
Hope this helps!

Look in settings see if delete messages immediately is checked , if not its likely saving the messages. I keep delete messages immediately checked
If it's not checked they are sent to a folder. Have you looked into settings and deleted the messages out of that folder?its worth a try under general settings you can find delete old messages . Hope this helps, it's worth a shot...

Any solution here? I have tried the SIM card in other phones too, but still not receiving SMS. I ave changed to new SIM-card, but still same message: "SIM card full", I have SGS2. But this is defiantly not a phone issue. May be a provider issue?
For your information:
I received SMS on my twin sim-card, so SMS was forwarded, but not received on primary sim-card. Very strange.
My SMS issue was related to a problem with my provider. Even after replacing(registering) the SIM-card with a new one, I had that problem.
The provider restarted some services on my subscription, and everything is fine now.
I posted this in the N00B question thread but I was told to make a new thread.
So my friend got an Unlocked Atrix 2 and she is using it on T-mobile. When the sim is inserted she can make phone calls and send text messages but it says the sim card is full and it wont let her import the contacts from the sim card to her google account. In fact it says there are no contacts but that is definitely not the case because if you put it into the old phone they all show up. That being said I found a thread that apparently has the answer but I don't know what exactly I am supposed to do. Am I going to have to root the phone so that I can modify the XML system files?
Thread with supposed answer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103967
I since rooted the device just so that I have the ability to do more but the Atrix 4G thread was of no help. I don't know what they did in there to get it to work. Anyone have any ideas?
Why don't you use the old phone to sync contacts with Google, then login with the same Google account on the new phone and sync again.

When I going into the phonebook application and start scrolling contacts or try adding contacts I get a notification come up saying that my SIM card has been removed and I have to reboot my device!!??
Any Ideas?
You might just need a new SIM card. Verizon should replace it for free.
