Hey all!
After enjoying my rooted HTC Sensation with stock ROM I wanted to flash the Insertcoin ROM using the official HTC Unlocker. So I changed the CID to HTC__E11 (Europe unbranded), installed the 1.45 EU RUU (as mentioned in this thread) and used the HTC Unlock tool to unlock the boot loader.
The boot loader mentioned that it got successfully unlocked, but when I tried to enter recovery all I got was the red explanation mark. So I decided to use the Revolutionary method and use the CWM.
After the CWM got applied successfully the boot loader stated S-OFF, like it used to. So I tried to flash the Insertcoin ROM, which seemed to be successful. But after I pressed "Go Back" and then "Reboot Now" the white HTC splashscreen appeared and would not disappear, of course it is usual, but after 45 minutes I decided to pull the battery.
Then I checked the MD5, which seemed to be OK. And flashed it 2 more times, with the same result. Redownloaded the zip and trying it again now, but since it is taking already 20 minutes I don't think I will get any result again.
Can anyone help me out?
HBoot: 1.17.1111 (used to be 1.18.0000?)
S-OFF
CWM version: 4.0.1.4
PS.: I am sorry if this is mentioned before, but since the search function mentions that it is down I was not able to use it at this very moment.
Finally got it working, did a factory restore and updated the CWM, tried installing the ROM again with success!
you can always search via google (query site:http://forum.xda-developers.com/) The htc tool only s-offs your device. you need to then flash a recovery (at your own risk)
Yeah I tried to flash the CWM with stock unlocked bootloader, but everytime I tried to update the only thing I received was some sort of version error. Something like main version is newer.
However, this thread can be closed since I already found out what was wrong.

HI ALL
I have a massive problem with my htc sensation xe. My phone is a t-mobile sensation xe.This is what i have done to it i unlocked the boot loader from the htc dev website. I then rooted it using super click one. I then installed clockworkmod recovery. I then tryed to flash a leedroid rom to my phone and my phone would always restart after the htc logo.
I tryed to flash many other roms but same result, phone would either freeze or continuosly reset.
Can somebody help me please. I have attached a picture of my recovery screen as this is the only thing i have access to.
Thanks In Advance
And what happens when you choose an option from there?
try
fast reboot
factory reset
Try going back to the thread for you rom read, reread and reread agan,
Then follow the instructions 100% and as if by magic........................
I have been assisting this person on the sensation forum he was originally rooted with ship s off however he installed a Rom and apprantly his hboot has changed.
He has tried to change Rom but his phone is boot looping with the HTC logo and as you can see he his picture he is back to ship on.
I provided a list of ruu but he's phone fails while attempting to run application.
He has tried resetting phone through recovery and clearing data, cache, formatting system.
He explained he tried to root following the current 4 methods but still no sucess.
I advised him to seek help on here.

I done as you told me
1.)I went into recovery and clicked factory reset
2.)I then clicked wipe cache partition
3.)I then clicked wipe davlik cache
4.)I then clicked fix permissions
5.)I then tryed to install the shipped t-mobile rom
It did not work
6.)I also tryed to install another custom rom same problem. The phone would hang on the htc logo boot up screen.
I have included pictures to make it easier to assess the problem
I don't think flashing a Rom will get you back to s-on. From your pictures I noticed you're trying to downgrade from ICS to GB, no? If you have the ICS firmware (3.06), how come you have hboot 1.18 s-on? Either there's something missing in your explanation or you really have messed up the software. Anyway, why don't you cross referenced what you've done with this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16125079
Cheers

I want my phone to work wetaher with original rom or custom rom.

1.)I went onto htc.dev and unlocked my bootloader
2.)I used super click one to root my phone and gain super user access
3.)I then installed rom manger and clockwork recovery to my phone.
4.)I then used rom manger to download leedroid rom for my phone and installed it.
This is were it all went wrong. My phone would continuosly restart and not let be do anything. If i installed any other custom rom through recovery myphone would freeze at the htc screen untill i removed the battery.
Somebody please help i do not want to send it into htc and pay £60 odd pound
Have you tried to select fastboot from hboot, connect to a pc and run the ruu from there?
I have run into the same problem with Sensation 4G (TMO).
Here's what I did:
1. Tried revolutionary to gain s-off - and it failed
2. Unlocked phone with HTC (so my hboot scren says "Unlocked")
3. Flashed recovery
4. Flashed Android Revolution HD™ 6.5.1 | ICS |
Now stuck in a boot loop (with HTC logo on white background). Tried multiple RUUs, none of them worked (including the latest one from T-Mobile).
No luck resurrecting device so far.
weird. ive used revolutionary 3 different times to gain s-off and have never had it fail. i would give it another shot and be extra careful and follow the instructions to a T.
What version of leedroid are you trying to flash? Remember to have the latest firmware to flash ICS roms...
This is were you can get them...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Select the proper firmware according to your cid and mid... If you have supercid, you can get any file... 1.17 is for Gingerbread.... 3.32 is for the latest ICS roms out there...

I've tried firmware from thread you are suggesting (cid and mid matched). Hboot does recognize the zip on sd card, parses it and takes me to normal menu. Nothing else happens. I verified that my cid and mid match androidinfo.txt in zip file.
Any other clues?
I've also tried flashing "boot loop" at the bottom of the same post, but HBOOT keeps doing the same: loads zip, parses it, shows regular menu. Nothing else.
Other option is to supercid your device if you can.... Makes your device more flexible...

@paul.turchenko, the firmware will not flash as HTC.dev unlock only unlocks part of your bootloader. Radio and boot images (included in each fw package) will not flash unless you have s-off.
Have you tried to relock the bootloader then run a gingerbread ruu? Try to match the baseband, software version, carrier, area etc. as closely as you can to your original setup.

Thanks for reply. Any giudance on relocking bootloader? Which T-Mobile RUU should I try? All RUUs I've tried keep failing on me saying something like "this RUU is not compatible with your device" - error 155.

[SOLVED]
AWESOME!
Thanks to post above I successfully unbricked my Sensation 4G.
For those who stuck with the same problem:
Symptoms:
HBOOT:
*UNLOCKED*
S-ON
1.18
Solution: use tool from post above (can't post links) and lock bootloader back. After that your HBOOT will show
*RELOCKED*
S-ON
1.18
After this, phone will accept RUU (which failed before with *UNLOCKED* bootloader).
RUU:
RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.50.531.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223976_signed
I will keep all files for a while so if anyone wants them - PM me.
I think I've done something silly. HTC Desire S with S-Off and Clockwork Mod - just ran the stock ICS update downloaded from HTC and although it appeared to install fine the phone won't boot. It just sits on a black screen, and if I try to enter recovery it shown the red triangle with the excaimation mark! Since I can't get into recovery, I can't restore the nandroid backup I took either so I'm a bit stuck. I've tried Factory Reset, and I've tried booting into Fastboot and running the ICS RUU a second time but it hasn't helped. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim
you shouldn't install RUU on s-offed device. don't know what to do, but there have been the cases like yours, so search the forum.

Looks like you have alpharev hboot 6.98.... You just need to upgrade it to 7.00.... (using Fastboot Commander for example) and than run RUU again.
I had the same problem with my friend's Desire S.

Thanks, all - sorted now! You're right, I needed a new hboot to get ICS running and running the stock RUU had trashed the recovery image. I flashed a new recovery image, then a new hboot, then upgraded to ICS by copying PG88IMG.zip to the SD card. Phew!
Didn't go quite as per the instructions - the first ADB download I tried wouldn't connect, but I got another one from another link (not sure which now, I was trying lots of things!) and it connected fine. Couldn't SU when updating hboot either but that didn't seem to matter.
Many thanks!
Tim
So a few days ago I rushed into using htcdev to unlock my bootloader without fully researching. I then tried to flash: aospX 1.0.0-MR1 in haste. I couldn't use cwm or ext4 because it stated the phone was not rooted. I assumed since I unlocked the bootloader using htcdev that I wouldn't need either for some reason. I tried flashing the rom using the directions found in glevitan's newbie guide: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30674730/ULTIMATE ACE GUIDE V5.pdf. In the directions that were given on step 5 I just booted in hboot instead of cwm or ext4. So basically what I did is go into hboot and fastboot and tried flashing the boot img.
After that it seemed as though it was flashing but then it went to a picture of a phone with a red exclamation point next to it. Now in the past two days I have been researching how the fix my problem from acting hastily without researching first. None of my research or actions thus far have been able to get me past hboot. I have tried the directions in the following thread and have not been able to fix the issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396229
When I try to reinstall recovery by the directions given in that thread nothing really happens and it just goes back to hboot. When I try flashing the Inspire 4g stock rom in the thread I get error messages in hboot that say invalid image! and it will flash to the white HTC splash screen for a few seconds and then vibrate and go black then back to htc splash screen for a few seconds then back to the picture of a cell phone with a red exclamation point next to it.
The only semi-success I have it trying to flash a RUU (RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_Cingular_US_2.47.502.7_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_200368_signed.exe)
But when I try to install the RUU it will install for a few minutes but then I get an error message because it is an older version than I have and wont allow me to "downgrade" because I am currently on 3.20
Any help to try to get this phone back up?
Best guess is (and double check first) relock the bootloader and flash the ruu.

First thing, thanks for the response.
It wont let me flash the RUU, I have version 3.20.xxxx and the only ruu I can find is older versions and it wont allow me to flash an older version. The bootloader is already relocked btw.
I'll get back to you. I have to finish doing a few things that will take me a few hours or maybe more, then I'll see what I can find.

You have a few options. The exclamation point is because you don't have a custom recovery installed. You have to flash it manually ie fast boot flash recovery recovery.img my guide doesn't cover that as it was written before HTC dev method was available. And those in the inspire land were recommended from flashing the eng hboot.
So anyways. You can flash cwr via fast boot, then attempt to flash aospx. BUT I suggest you actually gain soff.
The 3.20 ruu is available straight from HTC website.

Hi I recently tried installing MagioRom and now my phone wont boot. The last working rom I had was MaximusHD 10.0.0. I am S-off, H-Boot 2.15, and T-MOB010 and i have a U.S. Tmobile Htc One S I have tried restoring from several of my nandroids, inncluding my stock nandroid. I've tried several different RUU's (all Tmous), installed many different Roms, but the same thing always happens. The phone will go through the boot process but then freeze at the lock screen, showing only the status bar. After about 15-20 seconds it crashes and reboots. I've tried everything I can think of. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.
Go back to MaximusHD, this is the only ROM where your new firmware which you flashed will work. None of your nandroid backups will work unless you downgrade your firmware
I tired MaximusHD

Thanks for your help but I tried re-flashing MaximusHD, but no luck.It has the same problems as the other ROMs. The aroma installer will work fine and then the phone will boot and it will go through the full boot logo and then the status bar will come up and I can see battery and time, but the rest of the screen is dark. My radio is 1.13.50.05.31 if that makes any difference, I haven't been able to update it.
I see what I forgot do now. I didn't flash the firmware.zip, weird that the ROM worked anyway. I'll download and flash that and let you know if that fixes everything.
So even after trying the firmware.zip and yoouri instructions to install maximus HD it still wont boot. Im now hboot 1.16 and radio 1.20 Im still S-off and Cid is still T-MOB010

So you could fastboot flash the boot.img and see if that enables your phone to boot.
Then once booted, move the ROM.zip to your phone and reinstall ROM in recovery. (as per instructions) Or sideload the rom in TWRP so that you can reinstall the rom.
Still no luck

Hi everyone, first of all thanks for any support you may give, I was really hoping to figure this out on my own but I've ended up with 20+ tabs open on the subject and don't seem to be getting anywhere.
So on to issue: Recently fished out my old HTC One S as a friend wants to buy it, however the custom ROM I had installed crashed when using the camera so thought I'd get this all updated for him before he takes it off me, but things have moved on a lot since I was last here, and I'm now stuck getting everything updated.
I currently have hboot 1.13, s-on and root, and my CID is HTC__001
It appears most ROMS now require either hboot 2.15 or 2.16. I incorrectly thought hboot was related to recovery, so I tried to flash latest twrp, but now phone reboots everytime it gets to lock screen, I can still get into fastboot using adb, but I can't access recovery, and I'm now stuck. So any thoughts or input on how to proceed from here would be amazing!
TL:DR:
Currently on Hboot 1.13 with s-on, need to update to 2.15. Phone keeps rebooting, can access fastboot but not recovery. help.
Thanks again, Andrew.
Update: Solved
I resolved my issue by re-locking the bootloader, and installing one of the latest RUUs with hboot 2.15. I could then unlock the bootloader again, flash the latest twrp recovery and get back to installing custom ROMs.
You'll need to flash a recovery with adb. I can't remember if you can do that with S-On, but I don't see why not.
The command is something like: adb flash recovery name-of-recovery.IMG but I don't have my notes with me.
FYI, I always had to run the command twice for it to "stick".
You'll also have to find an older recovery.
Sorry I don't have the actual commands handy, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
Edit:
Or, you can run the RUU.
Awesome thanks, I just need to find the right recovery and RUU now. I've had a look on Teamwins website and oldest version I can find is 2.1.6, but there is no documentation to say which hboot this supports, however I have a funny feeling I'll need an older version than even that, any ideas where I could find the correct recovery to flash? Thanks again.
