[Q] Is the ANKER 1900mAh Batt responsible for the MIC Damage? - HTC Sensation

Guys,
I had a problem with my mic in my Sensation. People started to complain that they cannot hear my voice clearly and its kind of breaking. But whenever i talked using the Stock Handsfree, the voice was crystal clear. So i realized the problem was with the MIC. As my Sensation was without warranty in my home country, i had to spend a few bucks and i got the whole Display panel to which the MIC is connected, replaced. After changing the panel(MIC) i tested sending myself voicemails and talked to a few people. It was working fine. That night i put back my ANKER battery. The next day when i started calling people started complaining again. I realised that the problem is with the motherboard or something else,so i sold off my sensation and bought a Brand new WARRANTY piece. The voice was clear. Again the next day, i put in my ANKER battery and charged it to full.
The voice breaking problem started again.
Also everytime I installed the App called "Volume + " to boost the volume of the phone.
I went to the vendor and gave him the piece back.
The next day he gave me a Brand New Sealed Pack SENSATION again(My third sensation).
Since then, i have not put the ANKER battery and I have not installed the Volume + and neither do i have connected the phone to my laptop via USB cable.
I am afraid what is causing this problem to my sensations. Happened with me 3 times so I am not even rooting it as of now, maybe again i have to give it for a warranty replacement.
What do you people think, because in the ANKER BATTERY thread, nobody seems to be getting this issue.
CAN I BE GIVEN A REPLACEMENT ANKER BATTERY ? CAN I CLAIM ONE? How do i find out if it is faulty????
EXPRET ADVICE NEEDED

i don't use Anker battery and unable to use MIC !!!
i try MIC for voice recored and talking cat tom 2 but unable to use MIC !!

The "MIC" here I am referring to is the Microphone(built-in).

I'm now on my second Sensation
Same call quality problems on both.
I haven't installed Volume+ and I'm just using the standard battery.
I'm about to go into town and try a third.

Bad call quality !!!!!
Well i had to repeat the sentences atleast twice, and the listener used to use their intelligence to interpret what i was speaking !!!!

Personally I think it's extremely unlikely. The Anker battery doesn't get hot to the touch, it doesn't press up against any circuitry, it's nowhere near the mic, and the kernel reports mV readings within range. Nothing much else for the battery to affect.
I'd look for the cause elsewhere, possibilities include environmental (e.g. humidity), software, etc.

Yes, if it isnt anker battery then what could it be?
Could it have been "volume +" app ? there is nothing else i doubt. I did restore app+data backup from Mybackup root though from my previous sensations. How can i confirm if the battery isnt faulty. Maybe its delivering a high voltage to the phone or something.
Need a good advice. I dont expect anything from HTC customer care.

I'm no expert, but I would suspect the volume + app.

Using cheap china aftermarket batteries here, no problems yet. Maybe it's Volume+. Did you try uninstalling then seeing if the issues cleared up?

i installed volume +, and guess what? I REPLICATED YOUR EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
also, those talking cat, talking tom apps? they also screwed the mic AND speakers.
i would stay away from Volume + and those Talking apps for now...

I also have been using the Anker 1900 battery and am proud to say that I have no issues at all with this phone. Mic, battery life, voltages, etc are all great. Sounds like the issue is something else. FYI, I have used many roms and have noticed that Volume + behaves differently due to the rom's individual volume stock settings. Some roms are louder and clearer, others are not. Good luck!

Really??? How did you rectify that problem ??? This time i am taking special care not to install volume +....
But how do i check if my Anker battery is not faulty ????? I am really afraid to put it in my sensation, it might again damage my MIC.... but the battery life of Anker was superb....far far better than stock battery...so how do i check if my battery is free of problems?
SUGGEST ME SOMETHING PLEASE

I haven't had any problems with mine

I'm using an Anker and everything is ok

No problems with Anker here at all.

Yes...i have realized that Anker battery is very Good....the real culprit was Volume plus.......

Iphone users complain about it not functioning properly by charging the battery even if users have not pressed the button yet, sometimes it also does not work even if the button is pressed.
It will also add bulk to the DHD... lets see what surprises it brings though.
mugen ftw ;
does any one try this thing ?
It works pretty good for me. I only used only once when i was on car trip. The downside is just that it makes the big phone twice as big!
I dont think thats gonna help improve battery life, common u guys, look at that thing...its ridiculous
looks ok to me, but not avalible in uk
anyways, @ roboMr.Burns can you tell me if it still gives access to the headphone socket?, ive looked on thier website and it says nothing about that, and looking at the case it appears to cover it - deal breaker for me tbh if thats the case (no pun intended).
how is it meant to work?
why dont install a good custom rom for example leedroid no probs with the battery

I believe there's a cable-end sticking out similar to your USB-charger that goes into your phone. Then you click the button on the back of the case and it will start drain power from the battery that is inside the case!
Correct me if im wrong.
I think it makes phone to big :-/

The case is a battery itself. It has a usb that connects to the DHD and there is a button on the side that you press to charge the device.

Does hacking fix EVERY problem with this device?

I have three days to change my G2x for the Nexus S.
I need to know whether putting ANY custom ROM/root/whatever can fix every single problem with this phone:
Battery life drain
Software bugs
MOST IMPORTANTLY (why doesn't anyone care/notice?!): NOISY HEADPHONE JACK OUTPUT
Is this problem entirely software, or partly hardware? I have such minimal LCD bleed that its not noticeable.
Please chime in and check my thread on noisy output and take my FIVE SECOND test with your modded device to tell all of us whether it is fixed or not.
nevermind.
Using CM7 + Faux's EXT4 undervolt Kernel + GPS fix pretty much makes this phone perfect for me. I have absolutely no issues at all EXCEPT for screen bleed. That cant really be fixed with software though. Battery life is great. Yesterday I didn't use my phone much but I went OVER 24 hours on one charge. Didn't plug it in once. Woke up this morning and it still had about 15%. Of course I turned off data while I slept though so that probably helped a lot.

Can you please elaborate and confirm that you noticed the exact same noise as I described (for a second after any sound stops, or during a completely silent track playing?) And voodoo took care of it? So it is software causing the noise and not hardware?
I'm finally at peace with my G2X and it is solid reliable. ****ty battery life but what can you expect.
In my case my phone did have reboots and freeze while charging. I still don't trust having this phone charging overnight because it might crash.
Also went and deleted both Internal/External SD and properly WIPE like 5 times. Flashed CM7 RC1 + Google apps and fixed permissions. I had issues where email syncs failed after 8+ hours but after doing this full clean flush and Wipe, this piece of **** phone finally is reliable.
Its solid and finally enjoying the phone. Just need CM7 out of RC and I'm golden.
However, every time I went to stock I had issues. If you don't plan on Rooting/Flash don't bother with this phone. Its a piece of crap and LG sucks at making ROMS.
I love my phone but I reccimend you get the nexus S. I'm sorry, its just a better phone.

I have to agree. The G2x is a million time better then the Nexus S. The Nexus doesn't even do 4G.
The Nexus S is last generation, the only competition for the g2x is the htc sensation and the samsung galaxy s2.

I love this phone... It's a sense or no sense issue if you ask me... I like both.. My last phone was the htc glacier i gave to my momma, it was a good phone... I wanted a senseless device and im glad i got this one.. not another 6-8 months down the road when the next 1.3+ Ghz batch of phones comes out i might go back to sense, but im completely content where im at right now with the g2x with the games and now netflix... dont get no better.. maybe the sgs2 but that's the most powerful phone in the world as far as buyin out the store... but the sensation.... So after getting CM7 and Faux's OC/UV/etc/Voodoo kernel I still have noise with the sound. Do I need the Voodoo app to enable a different kind of processing or something? I cleared 3x caches/data, installed .zips: CM7 b89, gapps, and Faux [2.6.32.41] (v0.3.4) before restarting.
This makes the sound even more apparent: Go to a silent place and turn the volume on the phone all the way down to vibrate. Put the speaker at the bottom right into your ear and push volume up once. You'll hear the quiet boop tone and a second of very loud hiss before it cuts out. Wait until the sound disappears after two seconds to notice that it was even there in the first place, before pushing the volume button again. It even turns the amp on when you set it to vibrate and there is no tone played. Two new units fresh out of the box have had this same noise. I can't believe users, especially devs don't notice this or see it as irregular, so I must be doing something wrong with Voodoo, and every unit in Canada is the same hardware-faulty. I've got three hours to swap it for the nexus; a primary use for this phone would be monitoring detailed music, and this is an unacceptable level of noise. Please try this and let me know if it's every unit or just every one in Canada, and if the 3 dollar Voodoo app is necessary to fix it!

Question regarding sensation's volume and poor battery life

hi everybody,
I bought htc sensation, though its a good phone, but i am really pissed off by its poor volume and low battery life. In this forum i read alot about these issues, generally the mixed opinions. So my question is: is it really possible to get rid of these issues by using the custom ROMs? Also there is a lot talk about sensation update 2.3.4. Anyone felt some improvement with respect to these issues after the OTA updte? Or i just have to live with these issues and keep on regretting why i didnt go for GS2 or Iphone4.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
I'm on a 2.3.4 ROM (CoreDroid), and I haven't felt like either battery life or speaker volume changed at all. That said, I think some ROMs include mods to the speaker volume (or include a kernel that allows that or something), and a number of people have been saying that their battery life is better on 2.3.4.
Battery life seems much better on 2.3.4 roms.
What kernels supporting sound boosting currently available? I'm using ARHD as it looks like the only rom worth using that dosen't include graphics that look like they are made by a 5 year old.

I would love to know this as well
Try using Juice defender it actually helps alot
there are a few really effective apps on the market that are available in both free and paid versions, i have used Volume + as well as Equalizer. They are both very effective, however i noticed that Volume + while greatly increasing volume across the device, it often induced bugs when my phone connected to my BT stereo. Equalizer has worked awesome so far, although not as loud, it really seems to have effectively improved speaker output and quality both headset and BT.
No matter what anyone on here tells you, these two aspects of the phone suck, and there is no real fix for either issue. ROM's help the battery life here and there, but short of turning all connections off, turning down the brightness to zero, and never making any calls, there is no real fix. Large screen smartphones suck up power, it's something you'll have to just deal with. The Sensation's speaker volume and quality is just terrible, one of the worse ones I've used yet. You'd think such a high-end phone would have a high-end speaker, and be able to push that speaker accordingly. No app or ROM is going to solve this either. Don't get me wrong, I love my Sensation (for now), but those two issues are it's biggest downfall. I just put up with it honestly. Just waiting for next big thing to come out so I can eBay this one.

HTC One S - voice quality

For those who already have a One S, do you also have a contact noise in the background when you're talking to someone on the phone?
It gets louder if you turn up the volume and it is pretty annoying. Am I the only one having this problem?
What could be the reasons for this?

In comparison to my hd2 it has a better battery life. I would say about 6-8 h online time. The only disturbing thing I found so far is the noise when calling someone.
The processor is devilishly good, everything is smooth and fast. Also it fits perfect in the hand, not too big and not too small either.

6-8 hours immense browsing with the phone. After that I have to recharge the battery, but not sure yet.
After 15 hours (about 30 mins using internet, most of this time in standby) I still got 75% of battery life.
I have 53% battery life after 24h not charging.
I used it for some surfing, sync, whatsapp, facebook and some other apps most time in wlan. 8h was completely standby, the rest was a mix of using and standby.
My first impression is, that the battery has an acceptable life.
That seems to be decent, though I do wonder how it'll be once it's all settled in, but back on topic. Do you still get that sound while using the headset or a bluetooth? Related to this, but is it just you or does the other person hear it, it might be the mic (or does the One S have a dual mic setup?) backfeeding or something like that.

I have this problem too. It also feels like there are sometimes kind of interruptions in the conversation.
Haven't had a call yet...if the issue is there I hope it is a software bug. That can be fixed easily. I also hope they will get rid of that ugly on screen menu button and bring the htc sense blur live wallpaper back!
And the flip clock should always flip and not occasionally.
I received my replacement one s due to call quality issues and the new one is even worse. everyone says i sound like im in a tin can as my voice is SUPER muffled. they can hear when i start and stop talking but the words just arent sharp enough to hear anything. wtf is going on with this phone?
This can be operator issue.
Yup I've had that too. I get it about every time that I call a new number. Completely muffled and can't hear other side. But that might just be me sincevI'm convinced that my phone is completely defective.
I've noticed that my phone lags in basic tasks that even my mytouch 4G handled smoothly. It'll even freeze halfway through a song quite often. Not sure what's going on but I've had major performance problems with my One S even after a full reboot.
My battery dies in about 10 hours of mostly being on standby. I go to school so I listen to music for about a total time of an hour and half throughout the day.
I turn my Internet off, wifi off and Google location services off and still the same result.
Battery settings says it's mostly using the screen even though it's off for about 85% of my use... Anyone else?

I migrated over from a mt4g as well. The call quality on that thing was perfect. You might want to try and do an exchange on your one s because mine doesnt hang on basic tasks and ive been really surprised by the battery life in comparison to my mt4g. With some moderate morning use (some games, surfing, app downloads) and then forgetting to charge it afterwards my phone lasts on stand by from 9pm to 1pm the next day with some charge still left over. it sorta lags a tiny bit but nothing to complain about. the only game ive really played on it is temple run and it seems to glitch in the beginning a few times by freezing and continuing the game but it sort of fixes itself? My screen, like yours, is apparently always the culprit for battery time even though i have it set to auto brightness and have it so it turns off in 30 seconds.
the call quality is what i can't handle. this phone is great but if i can't make a phone call whats the point!? i'll be getting my 3rd replacement on monday =/
3rd? Wow. I had about 17 exchanges on the mytouch 4G (no joke) and was hoping that I wouldn't have to go through any on this phone. Was there anything special that you did with the phone? (ie charge before 1st use?). I'll probably just tell Tmo about the call quality and lag for them to exchange it. I hate that they won't take battery probs seriously and ask you to do a factory reset.

!! You sound like me. I lost count on how many returns I did on my mytouch4g. In fact... that's how I got my one s.
I b*tched and had so many returns they offered me whatever android I wanted (after threatening to cancel and not pay them sh*t and getting into an argument with their "customer loyalty" department when she tried to "upgrade" me by sending me a sidekick -_-) for free... so I waited until the release date of the one s and ordered it =3
Even though nothing too special must be done with these phones batteries I still let it get an entire charge before I started to play with it. The phone is perfect in every way and I honestly had no complaints until everyone I spoke to told me I sounded like I was muffled =/
My first phone - Everyone could hear me fine, i couldn't really hear them...everything was high pitched and muddy and buzzy sounding for me and it actually hurt my ears to talk to anyone
My second phone - The complete reverse. I can hear everyone fine but no one can hear me.
My third phone - I'll let you know... I'm stuck at work but I'll find out tonight.
(i still haven't sent any of my phones back in case todays phone is even worse.)
They don't take anything seriously -_- every time i call them I'm prepped for the argument because they never know wtf they're talking about. I always had to tell them "HEY...This is my 20th mytouch...CHECK MY ACCOUNT...(by then they just sit silently when they see i'm not lying)... i'm PRETTY SURE i know how to trouble shoot and reset my phone, no there isn't any water damage, so stop wasting my time and send me another phone so we can both get back to whatever the hell it was we were doing >_<" all of my rage.
EDIT:
Received my phone and the call quality isn't 100% but its SUCH an improvement from my other two devices. I'm keeping this one. It'll do. I can hear everyone (not as great as on my mytouch4g) fairly well without any muffled sounds and they can actually understand everything I'm saying. Finally! Definitely try and return your OneS.... i know it's a pain in the ass but it's worth it in the end =/

Haha yup I was offered a sidekick too! I will never know how in the world they find a sidekick a "comparable model" to the mytouch4g and not a Galaxy S 4g at least.
I called about an hour ago, they said my replacement will arrive on Wednesday. They charged me a $5 fee though. I'll definitely charge that one for at least 8 hours and hopefully get more than 4 hours of heavy use out of it.

Well I got my replacement Wednesday. Charged it for 13 hours and still have insanely weak battery life. Apart from that, my phone rebooted once while on my pocket and being unused. Then it was lagging during browser use and rebooted again. I'm pretty ticked off considering my mytouch experience with T-Mobile and HTC. At this point I might just return the phone, reverse my upgrade and cancel in November when my contract is up and I could get a good black Friday deal on whatever new iPhone Apple offers by then.

i bought the phone from amazon but it's still on the way
t the beginning i was trying to find a budget phone and the option was SAM S4 mini, but i dont like Samsung and want some official OS like nexus, and BOOM the MOTO G is the answer !!
read and watched some reviews and by that i decide to buy it -GLOBAL SIM ver-
now while i'm reading the threads, i found some people complain from signals issues, low calls volumes, kitkat issues and battery issues :crying:
i don't believe the whole stock is defective, maybe some, but still , the numbers are increasing
should i worry ?

Don't waste your time worrying about that.
If you have a defective one getting a replacement from Amazon is quite comfortable (you probably know..).
I think the mayority of the phones are fine so the chances are good that yours is, too.
I have zero issues with my phone. I have turned the volume down for calls, my battery is usually at 50% after 14 hours of use, and there is no lag.
Sent from my XT1034 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Signal is too Strong
My call volume is too loud
KitKat runs too fast
My battery lasts too long
No issues here
that's really comforting guys
i'm really exciting bout this device for both specs and price, Motorola is a great company, even without using their devices since long time , they are well known
even tho i'm an importer, but i know Amazon and their CS are top notch, so i can figure it out with them if something goes wrong, but i really hope everything is gonna be OK
thank you all

Just to tell you to have fun with this device
This device is still brand new so stalk the roms section to try new roms, pretty fun.
Ps: Never had battery issue or software issue or having a defective model
i received the mobile, but my SIM went out of service so i need to buy a new one lately
anyways, the first thing im doing is charging it to 100%, then upgrade to KitKat, i wished to test somethings on JB before upgrading just to make sure everything is OK, but i'm excited lol
after the upgrade i'll shut it down till i bring a new SIM, hope everything is ok
i noticed i can't charge the phone via USB cable while it's OFF, it'll turn ON right away, trivial but whatever
can i upgrade the system from Motorola Device Manager ? cause i think from the WiFi it's taking around an hour and half
lol
the battery as 100% while downloading KK update
after completion in 2 hrs still high percentage
after installing the update and rebooting,i'm at 40%
is this natural?
i hadnt done anything else yet
That happens when you update. Just use it and you will notice that the 40% last for a very long time. Or just recharge it instead...
...
just wanted to confirm that i had the low voice problem on KK, i encountered only once so far
i was to open the speaker, but the voice was so low that i thought it wasnt on speaker, but when i pressed the volume button the voice went loud just fine as it should on the speaker
hope i wont encounter it very often
