[Q] Prepping 3g 3.2 xoom for 4g after oc kernal? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Verizon 3g Xoom with 3.2 rooted with the Tiamat Tachi 2.1.0 gpu over clocked kernal installed.
In order to prepare for the 4g upgrade, I want to understand how to return my xoom to full stock. Based on my reading, I understand that I can download the stock rom from Motodev. I think I read somewhere, however, that with the oc kernal, I have to fastbook flash back to build HRI39, not HRI66. Can anyone clear this up for me?
In otherwords, if I flash HRI39 (which I believe is 3.01 honeycomb) will my kernal be returned along with the full factory rom?
Thanks!

easiest I can imagine is sbf then lock bootloader.

[Q] XOOM, Got to 3.2.2, looking for advice on overclocking?

Hi,
I know there are instructions on overclocking, but they involve flashing with older files, so I'm a bit scared.
I managed to successfully upgrade my Xoom to 3.2.2 as per the instructions at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242524
(FYI: I also had the WiFi issue, I got around it by first installing the Hammerhead ROM, then going to the 3.2.2 stock ROM - using ClockworkMod 3.2.0.0 R4c and the 1.0 version of the ROM - hope that helps someone else).
So far, I'm all good. Now I'd like to overclock this.
Any advice?
Thank you,
Justin

Download either SETCPU or CPU Master and have at it. Just don't have it set on boot til you are sure the new clock speed is stable.

If you go with the tiamat 2.2 moray rom you will be able to overclock from the custom tiamat settings found in the android settings menu. Along with some other additions the option to overclock is built into the rom with the custom kernel. No need to use a app like setcpu.

Hi,
I tried setcpu, it only allows me to set the CPU up to 1000MHz, so I presume I need to do something to set it higher, like flash a kernel or something?
So is it possible for me to overclock on the stock 3.2.2 ROM, or can I only do it with Moray?
If I flash with Moray, and overclock, can I then flash up to the 3.2.2 stock?
Thanks for the replies,
Justin

Sorry, I assumed you had installed a rom or kernel that could overclock. It's not possible on stock.
Also, with a downloaded governor like I mentioned, you can set profiles to save battery, etc.
Thanks again,
Maybe I should flash the Moray ROM so, I like the 3.2.2 one, but not sure what additional benefits I'm getting with it as its only WiFi, I'll never use 4G.

I just can't understand why the fuss over HC3.2.2. As you say, it's for 4G.
Plus stock anything is just pure boredom-inducing IMHO.
OK, that clinches it - I'm flashing to Moray
Thanks a mill for the advice, saved me hours of messing around,

Hi, whats the story with 3G after installing Hammerhead ROM ? Does 3G work properly? Just wondering about is as you wrote that u have some wifi issues as well...
Im looking forward to overclock my one but am curiouse if 3G works all right ?

[Q] I seem to be a little lost with this.

hey Guys.
Ok so my Xoom is a MZ601, 3G Version!
It has 3.1 HC on it.
ive rooted it using the Universial Xoom Root.
Can i now just Flash the Team Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.2.2 - Moray ROM?
and then the OC GPU KERNEL? sorry for the noob question but is this the way to do it? cause i know the Tiamat ROM is 3.2? safe to go from 3.1 to 3.2 like this?

Any recommended Kernel for Rogers stock rom?

Hi guys,
I am currently in limbo here. I have had my Skyrocket since Oct/Nov and I have juggled between half-a-dozen roms. The problem is that non of these roms have allowed me to achieve download speeds that Rogers allows my phone to achieve.
I figured that if I go back to stock then I would be able to get those speeds but the thing is: does anyone recommend any particular kernel to go with my phone? Correct me if I am wrong but it is the kernel that allows for a lot of the performance gains and increases in battery life so I figured that if I had the proper kernel then I can live happily ever after.
Try Bonestocketeer or any of the other almost stock roms. Eugene's kernel from what I remember is really good as its stock but under/overclock unlocked. Make sure that u are using the Rogers radio (KJ7)
Which one is Eugene's kernel?

Bump... Which one is Eugene's kernel. I'd also like it.
Sorry that kernel is for the t989 I believe. Try romracers stockish 0.03. I've tried it and its very stable.

[Q] ics OC with the latest update ww 9.2.1.17 stock everything just rooted

Hi everyone, this is my second post, i know there is a wide quantity of post talking about the same but if someone could light a candle in my path i would apreciate it very much.
My question is, I've rooted my tf101 when it was in the ics rom the 9.2.1.11 then i used ota rootkeeper(the name was something like that) and now I'm running the 9.2.1.17 everything stock including the kernel and the recovery, so is there a way to achieve overclock in my current status or what do I need to do to get overclock, I'm open to everything changing roms, kernels or anything, I know a bit more than the average noob but if you could explain to me in a simple way
Extra info: I'm using a WW version of the transformer
Can't overclock yet. Wait until someone makes a modified kernel. Should be soon since Asus released the source.
Blades has one available now
Or flash team eos latest build that also contains oc kernel

[Q] Kernel for stock rom?

I have a fully rooted phone but sticking with the stock rom, the latest. Is there anyway I can flash a better kernel capable of overclocking?
Pull a nandroid then flash one via CWM. I don't think the current kernels are optimized for the last two versions of stock software. Which version of software are you running. If the kernel sucks load your nandroid and you are back to where you started.

I'm not sure how to pull one from the custom roms. I have OTA 1.63.531.2

None of the currently available kernels will work on a stock ROM higher than 1.28.531.10. So, if you're running the latest 1.63.531.2, you're out of luck.
