build prop help? - T-Mobile LG G2x

What's up? Well I am a supper newb here so bear with me on this one please. This is the deal I am trying to edit the build prop with "es file explorer" so I can make my g2x think it's a different phone for two reasons, one is so I can get skype with video chat on it & second is so I can get neflix on it. When I Go & do it The Xda Way & Hit Save I Get A Message Saying "Error occurred when trying to save the file. It Will not be saved". Also, here is some info about my phone I am running the ota 2.3.3, I am thinking that's why I cannot do it? If anyone can help me out I will appreciate it thanks in advance. Oh & by the way I did root the phone, if that makes any difference.

You can't get skype with video working, and if you do please PM on how to haha, second you have to go into settings and check "root helper" or like "root something" and right below that check "make writable" this is assuming you have a rooted phone, wont work without it. Sorry.

how do i root it? as far as i know i had done it following this youtube .com/watch?v=ob4TCJ_K_S0 but my phone is telling me it's not rooted

use root explorer to edit...... go to system and the tab at the top touch it.. the folder will become r/w... then long press the build prop and open in text editor.... it will automagically save the old prop as a backup...

I can't get root explorer because you need a credit card to buy it & I do not have one & you can't get it billed to the account like a lot of apps let you do. PS I got it free & the newest one I am going to try it out now what you said

Be very careful. Some roms, especially stock and also some CM roms, won't work if you change the name in the build.prop. This info is used for booting the phone. You could render the phone in a bootloop or just locked up at boot. Better to leave the build.prop alone if you are not an expert in Android development.

You can also change build prop using root tools. Google search for the apk or download aptoide from market and dl from there if the server hasn't already been killed.
I changed mine a couple months ago to htc visions for netflix purposes, long story short I went back to p999. I suggest you leave yours as is.

I Fixed it
A few small things:
Intel should be intel.
Under CPU Optimization:
"Samsung’s CPU is set by default the run at 1gHz."
The should be to.
Sideloading:
"(don’t forget that after you install it from the market you still have to go to your app drawer and run busybox once so it installs)."
Should this be after you download it from the market?
ClockworkMod Recovery:
"ClockworkMod written for us by a developer that goes by the name of Koush"
Missing is.
"This gent puts a ton of work into helping us captivate owners out"
Replace puts with put and Capitalize Captivate.
Changing Your Messaging Ringtone:
"well the ones that matter anyway.."
Extra period.
Other than that, excellent guide. I'll definitely be using it when my Captivate arrives.

Thanks! I fixed all those errors but I'm not gonna upload the new version just yet because I will keep finding more errors so it just seems wasteful. I did not actually write most of the guide myself I just formatted it so there may be some mistakes I didn't pick up on.

Hi,
Thanks for publishing this. It looks very useful, similar to Energy ROM.. But I am very new to Android phones (trying this on Samsung Captivate from AT&T, bought yesterday). I am running windows 7 ultimate 64bit and I exactly followed this guide. But somehow I am still not able to see the sd card. I tried placing the update.zip at Computer\SGH-I897\Phone and shut down the phone and tried restarting the phone by holding the up/down keys as well as power button. But after selecting reinstall packages it said could not find /sdcard/update.zip.. Pls held. Again very sorry if I did some mistake..

The SD card is simply the root directory of your phone. You do not need to open a folder, it is the highest folder you can place it in. Hope that helps
Somehow it was not able to find the sdcard root. Then I realized that you mentioned something called as Droid Explorer, I searched for it and installed it on my PC. But when I opened Droid Explorer, my device was not recognized, then I clicked on link on the explorer window, upon watching that video I enabled the USB Debugging, then I was able to see my device, then I selected connect to my device. After that I saw an explorer but it had empty root and I was not able to copy anything. There was a menu button at the top row named "Transfer to device or Copy to device" I selected that and selected update.zip file and tried to transfer. Something happened but still explorer was empty. Then from my phone Top slide down menu I selected mount USB storage and I started seeing windows explorer on my PC. Then apart from other folders I could see a folder sd in the root. Then I again put update.zip in the root.
Then followed the restart sequence, this time it found the file but exited after Signal 7. It was trying to asert something but could not find the correct model number I guess. My cell phone's model number is Samsung i897.
Please help

I did not write the PC instructions, so I can not help you (I only have a Mac). But the person who did can probably help you his username is systoxity.
Because not enough errors were found to make it worthwhile to update the PDF i will wait till tomorrow to fix the minor errors.
Good source of information
Thank you for putting this together. I am going to sticky this for the time being.
For installing the latest version of busy box, you should include that before the instructions for running titanium backup...the latest version of busybox installed from the market will work with titanium backup so theres no need to have to click the "problems" button...this way you wont have to do the busybox download step twice...should also save a few megs since titanium backup wont have its own copy of busybox installed BTW nice guide
You can also just mount the phone memory using windows explorer and move the file over. I was never able to get droid explorer to transfer the file. It always said it went but then was never there.
Anyway all I did was connected just as I was going to connect to kies but then when windows asked me what I wanted to do I clicked on open file view and dropped updated.zip on my phone.
Only issue that I had with rooting was I accidentally opened the file in windows(winrar). After I moved the file over it found it and attempted to install it but then exited with an error(do not remember exact error), but had to do with mounting. Anyway I re-downloaded file and saw file size was different. After I moved the file over again everything went great. I still haven't removed bloat-ware and such but thats next on the agenda.
Also I was on windows 7 64 bit, saw some other users in other threads saying they had issues connecting the phone. Everything so far has worked great for me
Thank you very much for this handy pdf file!
Somelinks aren't working
First of all I have to say very good guide for noobs!
1. when I downloaded the update.zip folder I didn't work I guess because the name of Samsung captivate is not in the folder or something. So I just downloaded the other file from the forums.
2. Link to CPU optimization doesn't work.
3. I downloaded the droid explorer. It connected to my phone but I was unable to transfer anything. So I just tapped on the USB connected in the notification bar and mounted the phone. This allowed me to use windows explorer to transfer files. I believe one can transfer files by selecting the option of Samsung Kies under USB settings.
I got all your feedback. It will all be corrected by tomorrow night.
Cool guide however the rumor is the GPS only gets turned on when pulling up an App that uses it, so that step in the "battery saving" section might not be necessary.
Also you may want to replace Market Enabler with Market Access. It's a rehash of Market Enabler but also has a Set on Boot option that keeps it persistent versus being reset each time.
You also Might want to add a Tips/Tricks Section..
Here You can put some cool tips like the one i found out about backlight control.

[Q] Step by Step?

Hey guys!
Noob here who has flashed other phones in the past, but never anything Android based. Is there a step by step guide anywhere for the Mesmerize? Something generic and simple to follow from post root to a fully flashed phone?
Thanks for any input.
Tyler
Well our moderator is nowhere to be seen.. we should have a step by step sticked.. but we don't.
1) Root your phone. Search the forums to figure out how to do that.
2) Install RomManager and the ClockworkMod Recovery. There's a thread for that as well.
3) Download and install the ROM of your choice. Roms are located in the Dev Forums.
The details can be found in the Mesmerize General and the Mesmerize Development Forums. Search is your friend.

When I began this process about 2 weeks ago, I was at the same experience level as you Tyler. This is what worked easiest for me for my US Cellular Mesmerize.
(I'm just going to elaborate a bit on what Dcow posted, hopefully he doesn't mind .
Also keep in mind there are many variations to each step, this is what worked for me the easiest as a newb, hoping it does for you too.
And last but not least. There is always the disclaimer that attempting any of this can and will make your phone dysfunctional and or possibly bricked beyond repair (but most likely just dysfunctional which is a pain in the arse to deal with) if you do not follow steps completely (and of a trustworthy source such as xda).
So take your time, read each step that these people have taken the time to carefully write up, and you'll be just fine. Be patient as things don't always move fast and you never want to freak out as you may screw things up bad, when it's actually just taking longer than you would expect. There is alot going on behind the scenes so just give it time, trust me!
1) Root your phone. - Basically all this means is gaining the ability to give programs/apps and yourself SuperUser access (equivalent of being admin in windows) and also the ability to flash roms via recovery, detailed below.
The easiest way to root is to acquire the z4root.apk.
Download Here
After download, put z4root.apk on your SD card root directory
Then make sure in Settings->Applications that the "Unknown sources" box is checked.
If you don't have a file manager, download a free one from the market, using the file manager navigate to the z4root.apk and select to install it.
Reboot your phone
After it boots, open the z4root app and press root. At this point it is going to hang, give it 2 minutes and pull the battery. Count to 10, put it back in and turn it on. - This is normal, trust me.
After it reboots open z4root again and run it, this time it will run no problems and phone will reboot.
Once you are rooted (you will see the superuser icon in your apps, it will show apps you've given that permission to eventually) you will need to make sure you have a file manager that can request root permissions (read/write) before you will be able to complete the next step. Search the market for "root file manager" and pick one to download and install.
Also at this step I would download and install RomManager and TerminalEmulator as you will need these later.
2) Install RomManager and the ClockworkMod Recovery. These will basically just give you the ability to boot into recovery where you can more easily flash kernel's/rom's and anything else you wish to push to your phone.
I was able to install the Clockwork Mod Recovery very easily just by simply using the root file manager app I downloaded with these instructions.
Download the two zip files located in the first post here
Place both files on your SD card root
Using the root file explorer app, move the Redbend_ua file from the SD card to /system/xbin/
Long press on the Redbend_ua file and click permissions, there should be one check missing, check that.
Now open the TerminalEmulator
NOTE:The spaces below are actual spaces and the bml8 is a lowercase "L" not a "1" there is also a space after cd, after redbend_ua, after restore, and after recovery.bin
TYPE THIS ALL EXACTLY AS SHOWN BETWEEN THE QUOTES
at the command line ($) type "su" (then hit enter)
Type "cd /system/xbin" (then hit enter, which changes directory)
Type "redbend_ua restore /sdcard/recovery.bin /dev/block/bml8" (then hit enter, It will now scroll a bunch of text and reboot.)
After phone boots, open RomManager
Click on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
Select the Samsung Fascinate your phone will still be the mesmerize
At this point you're all stock and ready for new kernel/rom.
3) Install Voodoo lagfix kernel and new 5.0 sound
If you want speed and good battery life (and high standard marks) +unlocking the headphone amp and eq controls (it makes even the samsung headset sound killer) go here and follow those steps for using your now functional recovery mode to flash the new Voodoo 5.0 kernel.
Note: There are a few ways of getting into this recovery mode, the best way if all else fails is to hold phone from the back with left hand (thumb on volume button, in the middle holding both down and pointer on power button) hold these down until the mesmerize logo pops up then slide your thumb down a bit to volume down only (if you slip don't worry it might blink but it'll still go to recovery)
Note: If you are more code/computer oriented there is a method using a program called ADB, which I'm not familiar with and seemed more complicated than what I went with. Search for that on the forum if you wish to do the above process that way instead.
4) Download and install the ROM of your choice.
Just pick one from this list Here, read through the first post of each before you decide, some are plug and play some take a few steps first.
Credit goes to all of the OP's and many others included in my sig, these people are awesome show them some love!

I check in on all my forums many times per day (even at work ) so if I miss something, please feel free to PM me anytime and I'll try to help where I can
I'll get in touch with bdemartino regarding getting a guide together that I can sticky
In the meantime Ill move this to general.
I few days ago I found an explanation here on how to do this:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1694111-Installing-Clockwork-and-Voodoo-onto-the-Samsung-Mesmerize
(The same explanation bdemartino gave here today)
1. I used the files from there. How do I tell if I am running voodoo5?
2. If its not the same, I've read that I can install voodoo5 over another voodoo, correct?
3. Is anyone having trouble with 3g, vibrate, etc...on the mez? I saw in the voodoo5 thread that a few people were having trouble with these things. I couldn't tell if they were fascinate, mesmerize or captivate.

That is the old Voodoo kernel, you will need to go to the link I listed in my post for Voodoo 5, and yes you can simply disable lagfix and flash the new one over the old.
And no problems on the write up, I spent a good amount of time digging up the links and stuff but I'll spend a little more time polishing it and will post it in another thread for Scotsman to stickie.
And to answer your last question, no I'm having no problems with any functions of my phone after upgrading to voodoo 5.
Thanks for the write up and nice job on it too. It seems, sometimes when people try and tell others how to do something, they don't break it down enough. But you did and made it easy for us noobs. Thanks again.
My clockwork ( or voodoo, not sure) didn't come with a "disable lag-fix" button. I just have to create an empty file called "disable_lagfix". I'm just unclear where to put it. I saw it somewhere before I just have to find it

There isn't a button, per se. When you go in to recovery, there is a disable lagfix option under voodoo. You can put the file, disable_lagfix, in the voodoo folder on your sdcard to do the same thing.
He does write up a good how-to, though, doesn't he.
Haha thanks guys, and you're welcome!
I think the reason you don't usually see this much detail from others is because they are more developmentally enabled and therefore "forget" to break down the little steps that are second nature to them but foreign language to a non-developer.
Thanks. I found it. and disabled it aready. now i just download the file in the write-up and boot into recovery, install zip from sd card and select my file correct?
I always wipe dalvik cache (in advance settings within Recover) before flashing anything.
So it's;
Disable Lagfix
Reboot (you'll hear the chick reversing the process)
Clear Dalvik
Install voodoo 5.0 from zip
reboot
re-enable lagfix and reboot one last time.
Then you'll need to download the voodoo controller app from the market to control the amp gain and set a few other eq settings.
Man you guys are fast. Thanks for the quick replies. WOW
Ive done all that except re-enable lag-fix. Noone ever mentions that step. Do I just remove the "disable_lagfix" file from the voodoo file and reboot?
I just enable/disable it through the voodoo menu in recovery, much easier than pushing files around. In your case i think you should be able to delete the file and reboot, but if not you may just need to go into voodoo and enable it that way (after removing the disable file)
I guess if I edit a post and dont finish it, the post gets deleted. Oh well, I asked how to reenalbe lag fix but i figured it out. Like I said I had to put the disable lag_fix file in the voodoo folder. I just had to remove it from that folder.
Is there a way to tell (besides the quickness and the extended battery life) how do i tell if its voodoo5? just out of curiousity
Just a guess here but possibly under About Phone the kernel version might? Mine is listed as 2.6.29
I would also think that when trying to use the Voodoo app it would fail if you didn't have the kernel so that would be a sign too, if that's what you're looking for.
Well thanks alot. Thats what mine was listed as also. And the voodoo app did work, so I guess I've got it. And I think thats all for now.
Now I think I might wait to see the awesome developers come up with for 2.2. I dont mind the stock 2.1 for now. I just dont want to keep flashing ROM's, if they might be close to getting a version of 2.2 going. I can wait....I think.
Thanks Again

[Tutorial] How To Root Galaxy S 4G & Deleting Fota Files

Rooting Galaxy S 4G & Deleting Fota Files
Hi guys - I wanted to shared with all of you the methods that I used to Root my phone and getting rid of the FOTA files and "Bloatware" which free up ALOT of space.
****I want to thanks "Theshadowman" for the Fota files and to the developer of SuperOneClick, the awesome tool that makes rooting possible.****
Before this fix I was getting the "Internal low space" message.
Let's get started
Programs and Files you will need:
-Samsung Galaxy S 4G Drivers 32-bit: http://rapidshare.com/files/456420295/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_x86.rar
-Samsung Galaxy S 4G Drivers 64-bit: http://rapidshare.com/files/456420354/usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip
-SuperOneClick 1.7 (To root your phone)
-File Expert (to Unzip files)
-Super Manager (Access to /data/fota)
-Fota.zip (Files that will free up all that space)
Additional Files
-Bloatware (Thanks to Chadster)
http://db.tt/RFzd364
***Note:*** You will find all the files you need attached at the end of this post with the exception of Root Checker and Titanium Backup. You can download those by simply doing a search in the Market.
How to Root your Galaxy S 4G
1- Download Samsung Galaxy S 4G driver and install it. Make sure you know what version of Windows you've got. (I posted links for 32bit and 64bit)
2- In your Phone, Go to Settings>Applications>Development>USB Debugging.
Note: You will have to check USB debugging or else it will not work.
3- Download SuperOneClick 1.7
4- Open SuperOneClick 1.7
5- Under exploit MAKE SURE you select "rageagainstthecage" and then click Root. Let it do what it needs to do Note: the whole process will take between 5-15 minutes
6- Download Root Checker from Market
7- Run the test and it will confirm you that your phone is Rooted
How to Delete Fota files
Step 1: Download all three files in your computer and send them to your email and open them from your phone.
Alternative method: Download them directly to your phone.
Step 2: Install File Expert
Step 3: Install Super Manager
Step 4: Open File Expert and navigate to the directory aka folder that you downloaded the files to.
Step 5: Press and Hold the fota.zip file and select Unzip files
Note: File Expert will unzip files by default in same folder.
It will create a Fota folder with two files fota_delta_dp1 and fota_delta_dp2
Step 6: Open Super Manager and then open setup and check the "Enable ROOT function" then press menu on your phone and switch to r/w (stands for read and write)
Step 7: Navigate to the folder where you have the 2 Unzipped fota files (fota_delta_dp1 and fota_delta_dp2)
Step 8: Select both and cut them
Step 9: Navigate to /data/fota and paste the 2 files in this folder
Step 10:Reboot phone and WAWAWIWA! between 150mb-300mb of free space
If you want to get rid of Bloatware - Download Titanium Backup from Market open it and uninstall every app that you don't need.
Warning: Becareful with what you uninstall.
Hope this helps and let me know if have any questions.
damn dude that worked! thank you, this helps the phone a lot right?? Hey man I was also wondering if you know a way to fix the lagging for this phone?? I've heard of oneclicklagfix thru superuser once u root the phone, but I can't access it because, like I was told not too long ago, there isn't a oneclicklagfix available for the sgs g4 right now. any pointers? thank you
Worked perfect. Have 400mb free. I'm also wondering about the a lagfix for this device.

now you've tried using that titanium backup app...now how would you know which bloatware you can removed and which you can't.
Just in time omg!!! Lol just got the galaxy s 4g today for $280 ahhhh yeahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its safe to say that if you didn't read about a lagfix in this forum, then there is none yet. I would only attempt tools for other phones if your an advanced user.
If you have the bloat zip file, use that as a template to delete apps. Im not that experienced.

If you use the paid version, you can freeze the app first to see if it causes any problems.(trust me, it's worth the money)
If not, just do as fknfocused said. Download chadstet's bloat zip (in the themes and apps forum) and use it to see which bloat can be removed.
But it is pretty basic. If it ooks like 3rd party software, just rip that sucker out of your phone.

I'm glad this helped. No lagfix yet for this phone, but once you get rid of all the bloatware you should experience less lag. I'm pretty sure it will come out but I am giving it time.
Here is a list of apps i have removed and haven't experienced any issues after deleting this apps:
Folder organizer
Kindle
Amazon mp3
Double twist
airsync
facebook
news & weather
talk
layar
T-mobile tv
video chat (qik)
Desk home
media hub
add to home
gogo
inception
buddies now
feeds and updates
y! finance clock
slacker
telenav
drivesmart
drivesmart system
I have 328.23mb available on my Internal memory.
Awesome thanks for your help, I hope the lagfix comes out soon.

No problem man, Glad to help.
Dude I was fine until I got to part where I have to paste the files in the
/data/fota file. I cannot locate it how do I find it.
In super manager go to setup and select "Enable ROOT function" and then press the back button of your phone in super manager and then you will see the /data/fota make sure you are not in /mnt/sdcard/data. Let me know if you still need help

I'll try this when I get home thanks.
Thanks a million
The fota.zip rocks! It was driving me crazy that I was removing the bloatware, but not gaining any internal storage. It went from 24M to 356M after your fix. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
If we replace the fota (firmware over the air) are we not going to be able to get our firmware updates over the air?

Quite likely, without restoring them, if you've used the space freed for something else.
The files aren't really replaced, but the "placeholder" files that reserve space for FOTA have been truncated to zero length.
Removing the files completely will likely allow them to be regenerated, assuming you have cleared the space for them on the internal storage, should you want to get any FOTA (which, unless you're running stock firmware or are a dev and need the new firmware, is an open question).
=D my memory storange application space is at 318 mb now =D
Please give credit to the ones who made the files in the OP.

this is awsome! great walk though. i wish i had this a month ago when i got this device but i had to search and learn and ask questions before i got 310mbs free! even though superoneclick 1.7 to root only took me like 2 mins. for anyone wanting more from there phone this is the way to go. im still running stock with Launcher Pro Plus.

[Q] new sensation user, few concerns/questions.

hi i've upgraded my hd 2 to the sensation( i had windows on it). and it's a god send!
i've got a few concerns/ questions
1. biggest concern - backups.. i have a stock tmobile usa sensation.. what is the best app/ way to do a COMPLETE image (all settings/info, programs, pics, messages etc..)is there away? i use acronis for all my pc's which is just awesome. anything happens i plug in external drive, and everything is back to date.
2. rooting, i hear people talking about it... what are the benefits? if one roots there sensation do they have to start over? meaning a image would not work?
3. apps. i 've bought a bunch of apps, and installed a bunch of free ones from the phone. how do i back all these up? and save them?
4. EMAIL notifications, i have 2 email accounts, personal, and business, anyone know of way to set customized ringtones/sounds for each INDIVIDUAL email account?
5. how do i access the phone files so i can add my own notification sounds, instead of the factory ones? i'm not finding an option to look on SDcard and use my own for notifications.
Thanks for any help with these concerns.
your apps are bundled to your google account. There's a list of what you bought/downloaded already. If you wipe your phone, you can simply put them back through web.
good to know, ty!
Out of curiosity, is there away for me to get the installers as well? so i can back them all up on my server?
Anyone else have info on other questions please?
1. You can Temp. root right now( which means you will lose root if you reboot), perm root is not available yet (Hopefully soon), so temp root and use the application from the market call titanium back-up , you can back up all system, apps and personal settings to your SD card. As far as backing up pics they are already on your SD card so if you want to back those up back them up to you personal computer.
Link to Temp-root
2. Rooting benefits are removing bloatware apps installed by your service provider that you don't want, use custom Roms and root apps, increase speed and performance and battery life etc.....
Cons of rooting- you could seriously Eff up your phone if you don't know what your doing, void warranty etc....
3. See answer #1 also you can back them all up on your Google account.
4. As far as i know there is no way to set up different notification sounds for two separate email account, only one choice for notification sounds.
5.Install a file manager from the market like "Astro" to explore your sdcard, with temp root or perm root you can use "Root Explorer" and browse and change system files as well as the SD card files.
If you want to add notification sounds you can also select the personalize button on the far right side of the Rosie launcher and then select "Sound Set" and download new notification sounds.
Add ringtones check out this link....http://maketecheasier.com/add-custom-alarm-ringtone-in-android/2010/01/08
Hope this helps you with some of your questions.....
Thanks joemm
thanks for detailed info... one question on rooting if i may. Can i root without loosing everything i've done? meaning root it, download, use titanium. and know i'll be good to go.
Thanks
Yes, temp rooting will not touch any of your settings or apps. So temp root then back up with titanium backup, it will even back up each apps settings too, like a certain level your on in a game or saved search results etc...
thanks alot.. will attempt this tonight!

ES will work just the same....
No need to temp root now....perm root is out.

i think this may beyond me. i tried the temp. i think it's the temp.. steps i took
downloaded rw sensation from post #1 on link you provided.
unzipped
installed htc sense on win 7 machine double clicked Run_ME_Fr3vo_ROOT
ran a bunch of commands. once done it said hit any key to continue
then i went to phone transferred superuser file to storage card /installs, installed that. then went to superuser and it says no apps.
so not sure how to uninstall the default apps.
in Es file explorer i did notice i can see the system files now.
questions. may i ask how i permanently root this thing? (all i want to do is remove stock apps, and do backups. i 'm to old for the custom rom stuff. and to be honest don't have the time to be testing/doing custom roms anymore.)
after i accomplish the permanent root, what steps are needed to remove stock apps? (special programs, commands?)
and then what steps are needed to just do a backup, and finally enjoy this phone with out worries of lockups, crashes, etc...
and thirdly what are the steps to get all apps off my htc sensation onto my main machine so i have them backed up.
Sorry for not understanding fully. ive spent 4 days setting this up to my liking, buying what i need. and just want to be able to backup everything, and not worry bout it. like i can with all my pc's via Acronis image.
thanks for any clarification.
still yet to get my sensation permanently rooted... is this the most recent guide that will work with my Tmobile USA sensation?

Ah, yep. That's the one.
Just read each point completely before you start.
It's really much easier than it appears.
Good luck.
well i decided to try it. and i think i screwed up
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Grrrr. im getting to old for this stuff, (not on pc's as much anymore) when i was younger this stuff came easy to me.
i downloaded first file (revolutionary) did the steps. OF COURSE IT HANGS ON MINE)
so i went to post 2. it wasnt detailed for lamens.. so i uninstalled htc sync on phone and windows 7 32 bit. then i went to this post unrar'd files. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161769&highlight=htc+driver and have no clue what to do next...
so now i sit, with those files on my windows 7 machine, no htc sync on phone or windows 7 machine. ideas please?
yes i read this post... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16143324&postcount=11
but they dont tell me where i should make temp folder (on phone or pc?)
who wants to make a quick $20.00?
If not enough let me know amount. i'm done with this. i just want to backup my phone in it's entirety, i want to backup my apps to HDD location of my choice on my pc. I want to do an image (just like an acronis, or norton ghost) of my sensation to HDD location of my choice on my pc. Like i use to be able to do with my SPV's, HD2's.
Pm Me. and let's get this done!
Thank you!

I'm wondering if it is possible for me to make the market believe my phone is a different model of my choice ?
Not sure, you could try editing your build.prop to a different phone and see what happens.................

Root Browser
and
ES Explorer
are both very good free alternatives
Also a good example of what editing the build-prop to a different phone model can be found here
@TurnBOOM what are you trying to do? Are you trying to get an app that is not ment for your model/country? Whats this about re-registering your google account? Same account just a "different phone"
I'm trying to get an app that's not mean for my phone I've edited the build prop however when you first start your phone up with custom rom and load the market it registers your phone tpo your google account and shows the apps meant for your phone now I've changed my build I can't log out and log back in market so iot sees my phone as a different model
you'd have to register your account after having edited the build.prop file, at one time I had 2 Galaxy S2 and one HTC Desire S all linked to the same account, worked a treat..
