T-Mobile Exchanging Sensation for G2X - T-Mobile LG G2x

Yesterday I confirmed that T-Mobile is now allowing customers to exchange the G2X for the Sensation (see chat excerpt below) - pretty significant move if you ask me. So I am really torn now - I love the G2X because of the dev support (this phone would be a complete turd without them), but I still have not found a ROM that meets all of my needs/wants - Whitehawkx's ROM is the closest and best if you ask me. I am looking for a rom/UI that allows me to use Netflix, HBO Go, and which allows me to adjust HDMI output (Sensation 2.3.4 does this). Moreover, I am worried that LG is not going to support this device (no real proof just a hunch based on the fact LG has been so quiet and secretive about updates and fixes). I kind of think LG is going to wash their hands of the device and let the Devs take over (which is kind of cool in a way).
Anyway, I am still going to conduct some extensive research and do a hands on test at a local T-Mobile store. I'm pretty sure I will stick the G2X but wanted to pass the chat transcript along as proof that T-Mobile is in fact allowing customers to exchange their G2X for the Sensation:
You have been connected to _Richard N.
Me: My G2X is randomly rebooting - this is my fourth device since April 20. If I don't want another G2X, what is the replacement phone?
_Richard N: Hi Me , welcome to T-Mobile live Chat. I’m _Richard and I will be happy to assist you. Please give me a moment to review your question.
_Richard N: I can completely understand how frustrating it is that your phone is not working properly. I would be more than happy to help you with this today.
_Richard N: Thank you. Please allow me 2-3 minutes to research this issue.
_Richard N: I will need the current IMEI number from the G2x you have now please.
Me: I just would like to know what model I can replace the G2X with before going throug all of this
_Richard N: And I cant look that up without the imei number.
Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
_Richard N: Thank you. One moment please.
_Richard N: It would be for the HTC Sensation 4G as a multiple exchange and you do qualify for a multiple exchange.
_Richard N: Have we done the troubleshooting for the issue you are currently having?
Me: Yes, I've had this issue a couple of times.
_Richard N: okay one moment please.
Me: I am going to research the Sensation to see if it is a better device
Me: I don't want to process the exchange yet
Me: I want to do my research
_Richard N: Okay is there anything else i can do for you now?
Me: Just want to get an idea of known issues with the Sensation.
Me: No. You have been very helpful. Thank you.

Wow. I got my g2x for free online is it possible for the exchanged to go through or do I have to pay full price?

After reading this, I'm pretty sure I am sticking with the G2X:
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_sensation_suffering_from_touchscreen_issue-news-2956.php

Proof that HTC sucks just as much as LG does huh??? HTC uses ****ty low end garbage parts, LG seems to have quality control issues more than anything.
G2x with CM7 and faux kernel. NONSENSE!!!!

I think every company is hit or miss. When I was with AT&T I chose the HTC Aria over the Samsung Captivate because of a non functioning GPS and several other minor faults. I found my HTC Aria robust and reliable although under powered compared to some other phones. It seems that Samsung phones are having a great run at the moment and LG and HTC have a few issues.
I just got my G2x and I love it. Hopefully I'll have no issues. At least T-mobile is is exchanging defective devices. Trying to get AT&T to do anything was like moving a mountain.

1)Exchange G2X For Sensation
2)Sell Sensation
3)Buy back a G2X
4)???
5)Profit

Im confirming that Richard K was the guy that made me get the Sensation instead of giving me a g2x -.-

Just got my exchange for a Sensation and should be here tomorrow. Sold my other G2x for $350 and was gonna use that money to get the new BB Bold 9900 but decided to see how the Sensation is first.
And if I don't like the Sensation I can sell it for $400 easy and make a total profit of $750 : )

Remember way back when, when a phone could be counted on to be a phone every time you picked it up? It seems like just yesterday... Oh crap, it was almost yesterday - it was 3 months ago when I got my G2x and retired my Motorola W490 (which streamed music on a2dp and WORKED EVERY TIME).
There has been a social commentary that with modern technology, we've grown to almost expect identity theft, and I guess now expect phones that can't be counted on to be phones.
I guess I'm fortunate that with my two G2x and manually re-booting EVERY DAY, my phones are stable. Part of me wants to join that class-action suit - "I'm tired as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!".
Excuse my while I re-boot my phone and check my text messages...
Wow....

OK so after installing Faux's latest kernel over the weapons rom there is no freaking way I am trading this device in for the Sensation. This thing is fast!
Next, does anyone know a guy who knows a guy who works for Netflix and can get this device approved?

I have my g2x running stock 2.3 and it reboots every once in a while but this phone is pretty dang fast. But I'm one of those people who likes to get new phones all the time. I just like mixing it up.. Im torn.between what to do now. As long as a phone doesn't have noticeable lag I could care less. Decent battery life. The basics.
I love my g2x but it lacks support. I.like the screen on the sensation but iIdk what to do.

I like my G2x. That being said, I wouldn't know what a phone was if it didn't have problems. My last 3 phones were the G1, Touch Pro 2, and HD2. Now on the G2x. I'm use to constant reboots, freezes, glitches, snafus and crank wankery when it comes to smart phones.
What's the point of having a phone that just works? XDA would not be here if your phone "Just Worked". All these new and improved roms wouldn't be if your phone Just Worked. You wouldn't know what a CM7 was if your phone Just Worked. Cyangen Mod? What's that? Faux? Isn't that a play?
Just think of all the cool new terms you wouldn't know if your phone Just Worked. Rooting. Nandroid. SuperOneClick. ClockWorkMod. etc,
So just by having a phone that just does not work, you have increased your intelligence 10 fold! All Hail the Phone That Just Doesn't Work All The Time!!! We Salute you O' Temperamental Phone! You Rock! Now let me pull this battery so I can pull the battery.

don't do it.

when you all do an exchange, do you have to send the g2x back? also do you have to have the "stock" rom?

It's Been Fun, Getting a SGS2

Call me old fashioned, but I expect a $500 device to work out of the box. It's also been pretty sad watching everyone's desperation in either getting a stable CM7 build or a kluge of the Gingerbread pre-release to try and make all the phone's functions work properly. I've been pretty vocal about my dissatisfaction which I know has irked some of you. There were others, but they already bailed when their remorse periods ended so as we all jump ship there should be fewer "haters" and nothing but the positivity you seek here in G2X-land.
I was going to wait until 6/8 and get a Sensation but the phone re-booted in the middle of conference call to Asia and that shall we say was the end of that. I'm getting an international SGS2 instead. It'll arrive next week. It's an HSPA+ phone so it can do 21MB down on AT&T. To get on to AT&T's network I'm getting an Infuse 4G for $99 on 5/15 which I'll eBay for $400 easily. I'd be lucky to get $300 for the G2X once the Sensation's out and the comments on this forum certainly don't help the resale value. The SGS2 is $725 so the net after selling the Infuse will be $425 - $75 less than the G2X. I also won't have to be dependent on any carrier any longer and will get updates directly from Samsung.
Unlimited voice, unlimited messaging, 4GB of data, and tethering is $99 a month and AT&T has terrific international data plans when you're roaming where T-Mobile has none. Also, I'd rather pay $8 a GB if I go over my limit than be throttled to dial-up speeds by T-Mobile. My relationship with T-Mobile's always been love/hate but the G2X did me in. I'll still lurk and comment on this thread and if you have any SGS2 questions just ask. Also, modding may not be a dead horse. Paul posted the SGS2 firmware this morning.
See you guys in a year on AT&T-Mobile
P.S. - Gamers beware of the SGS2, it's been determined the Mali GPU doesn't support x-frame

Thanks for posting your life story. Did you really need to type all that just to say you were buying the GSII? Nobody cares how you are going to acquired it. I am getting the GSII aswell but you don't see me making posts about it. I'm thankful that I got a working G2x from day one because I can tell you right now. Its the best Android device I've ever used. I haven't had a single problem with it. Lastly, every phone has problems when its released. If you don't think so then u haven't been in this game long enough. The G2x wont sell for anything less due to these forums. I think your giving these forums a little to much credit if you think they a driving phone sales on eBay down. LOL...where do you guys come up with this stuff?

Yea that gpu is going to bite a lot of gamers in the ass. This is why the SGS2 was never an option for me. I'd love that screen paired with a tegra but I don't see it happening soon.
Tegra looks like the most future welcoming chipset IMO which also deters me from the Sensation.
Sorry to see you have so many problems but you do what you have to do. I always have low expectations of stock rooms although the 2.2 stock did run great for me. I flash not to fix issues but to flash. I actually have more problems running custom then stock but that's half the fun because I know that it helps to get to that point we all would like.
So while a slight backlight bleed isn't viable for some, a gimped GPU for locked boot loader isn't for me. Aside that, the rest can be fixed and patched. That I can handle.
Also, good luck getting anything out of Samaung. Those guys never update their phones. Gingerbread was promised last august and they still don't have it.

I never said u weren't experienced in the phone world but if you are then you should understand no device is perfect within the first month of being released. Christ, my Vibrants GPS was never perfect and I used it for 8 months. I just don't understand why people are expected to get a perfect device when they buy them as soon as they become available. Like it or not, we are the beta testers.

I got my phone on 6/19 so I have a lot of history in this forum. I've posted lots of positive comments which still hold true. I like the phone's form factor, I like the way it's built, I like not having a UI, and it's fast as hell. I get a new phone every few months. I've never had a new phone that didn't have bugs - to your point, it's to be expected. My issue with the G2X (and I know there are those with different experiences) is that the basic connectivity functions are unreliable, at least in it's current state. The LCD does kind of irk me, especially since the iPad2 announcement, but I could have overlooked that. It's a pain in the ass to change carriers and swap out the phone so soon and I really wanted to like/keep it. But I can't wait weeks/months for it to be 100% stable.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you want a phone that isn't meant to be tweaked then you are better off with an iPhone. You will never be happy with any android phone because android is meant for people who want to personalize and make their device theirs.
The g2x is a guiness world record holding powerhouse. It doesnt help your case to write a pompous and useless post.

Why do you need to wait weeks? Just keep exchanging it until u get a working phone. It really is easy. I promise. I also get new phone ever couple of months and I've had to exchange everyone I got. That's exactly why I always purchase at a brick and mortar rather than online. I don't know why your living with a phone that doesn't work but I wouldn't stand for it. Go exchange it and hopefully you get a perfect one like me. Only took me 4 exchanges to find a perfect one. Lol

One thing is forsure, there will always be those that have a bad experience with a device no matter how super, duper, incredibly awesome it may be. Looks like you're one of those who will go down as having a bad experience with the G2x. You aren't the first, you won't be the last. And you can bet your ass there will be plenty of users over in the Samsung forum having the same frustrations with their SGS2's that you had with your G2x. That's just the way it goes with these things.
When I first got my Droid X I had a lot of problems with it. It took me a while to figure it out... it was my first Android device so I had to learn everything from scratch. But I finally got it to the point where it was a flawless device (all it was missing was an unlocked bootloader) for me. But that wasn't the case for every DX owner... plenty of the members of the Droid X forum took their device out of the box and the damn thing worked flawlessly without them having to tinker with it or do anything at all in order to 'fix' it. It might have been a little hard for me to swallow since I was experiencing so many random reboots, terrible lag, and constant freeze-ups... but it was true all the same. My poor performing DX was the exception, not the rule.
Same thing goes for the G2x. This time I'm on the other side of the fence (thank God). My G2x doesn't have the LED bleed issue, or the rebooting issue, or ANY issue for that matter. It has worked flawlessly right out of the box for me. And it's only been available here in the states for 3 weeks, so if there are still a few bugs to work out of CyanogenMod7 for it, that certainly isn't the end of the world. Nine months after getting my Droid X (at launch) and CM is nowhere on the DX's radar, and likely never will be. So just the fact that CM7 is working at all on this device is more progress than I was able to get out of my Motorola the whole time I used it (I still have it, just in case someone sneaks the bootloader keys out of Motorola HQ's I'll be first in line to beta test CM on it!).
Anyway my point is, if you like a device enough you'll stick it through the rough spots and see if you can't get it to work well enough for you to enjoy it. If you don't like a device enough to do that, then get another device, period. No need to explain yourself, you're a grown ass man. You can buy an iPhone, Win7, Blackberry, Palm... hell even a dumbphone if that's what you want. If it's a SGS2 that you want, go for it. I hope it makes you happier than this device obviously did not do.
But going out like you chose to do isn't going to go over well, I'm sure you understood that when you were typing that post out. What are you hoping to accomplish here, do you think you're going to convice those of us who are having a great experience with our G2x's to suddenly realize we got it all wrong? Should we all pack our LG's up and throw em on ebay pronto now too just because you didn't get along with yours?
No OEM is perfect, but for what it's worth I respect LG and Samsung the most out of all the manufacturers because they both refuse to give into the pressure the carriers have been putting on them to lock down their bootloaders. HTC comes in third in my book because while they do lock their bootloaders, at least they don't encrypt them. Basically they play both sides of the fence. They lock the bootloader to make it look like they're on the carriers side. But they don't encrypt them because they know that hackers will easily unlock them and still be able to develop on them at will.
What I don't get is your statement that you'll get your updates from Samsung... since when has Samsung rolled out updates in a timely fashion? For me LG is my top choice because they left the bootloader completely unlocked, and they left it vanilla Android. It's basically a Nexus device. Samsung would be my second choice since they don't lock their bootloaders either, but I'd have to get rid of touchwiz the second I got it.
All in all, I hope you have a good experience with your SGS2. No need to attempt to make us feel stupid for keeping our G2x's though. If we like our devices, why can't you just leave this community and wish us the best so that we can do the same to you?
Its safe to say Barry that no one cares. See ya

Wow. This forum has become the dear diary of threads. I guess since the galaxy is almost a $1000 it won't have issues. You said you doubt the g2x will be worth $300 when the sensation comes out. Lol that was a insult. I guarantee the g2x will have more support and roms than the sensation. How can Cyan develop a rom, when he said himself he won't if it has a locked bootloader. I like what the galaxy can do but once it launches in the US and carriers strip it down like the original it wont hold its international value. Ill ride it out with the g2x. I'd rather return until I get a close to perfect instead of paying mortgage prices on a phone.

You got a 12th replacement G2x and this time, it had no screen bleed?
They're giving you a G2X with AT&T's bands unlocked and transferring your account to them thinking not having to support the G2X anymore works out cheaper in the long run.
Um they sending you another G2X? I called a few days ago and my phone will arrive this coming Tues. Called tech support once and had them walk me though the remove battery then insert back in, press volume down while pressing the power button "factory reset". A few hours later I was still getting a reboot so I called back and they are sending me a new one. WTH they are charging me $20 for a replacement fee? Will dispute that when it appears on my bill.
They are aware of the reboots, power off, and gps issues. At the same time, they know some G2X phones have no problemss at all.
OK, I just thought to myself that I'm not going to **** up my deal T-Mobile gave me due to my account having extenuating circumstances. Here goes....
On June 11th I called T-Mobile and told them I was on my 4th G2X and was having problems with it since I wanted to exchange it for a Sensation. The rep I talked to in customer retention told me there was no comparable devices to the G2X at the time but told me about a phone named the Sensation coming out on the 15th and that it would be a comparable exchange. He continued to notate my account and told me to call back after the 15th for the exchange. In between that time I went out and bought one with the intentions of seeing which phone I liked better before I exchanged my G2X. I decided I like the Sensation better so I gave it to my wife. Turns out she likes the Sensation better as well so when I called T-Mobile yesterday the person I talked to said there was no possible way for her to do the exchange but she did in fact see the notations on my account. She told me she would send an email to the guy who notated my account with "Exchange G2X for Sensation" and have him call me today. He never called so I just called T-Mobile and spoke with someone else. After explaining them the entire story he put me on hold for 10 minutes so he could speak with his supervisor. He came back and said something I wasn't expecting. He told me when I called on the 11th I was still within my buyers remorse period but the original representative I talked to failed to do the return and told me to wait until the 15th . I am now outside of my buyers remorse period so T-Mobile is eating the cost and sending me the Sensation. I asked the representative if I should return the G2X with all of it's accessories in it's original box and at this point he said the unthinkable. Nope, don't bother sending it back. There's really nothing we can do with it since the manufacturer wont take it back since it's past the 30 day period. So now I have 2 Sensations and one G2X. I am still trying to comprehend just how awesome T-Mobiles customer service is.
.....So no Disney tickets?

Awesome deal for you, but customer service in my opinion is still so ****ty !
Shoot, I was hoping for something more exciting. T-Mobile customer service is so hit and miss. Some times retentions would tell you to go F- yourself while the brand new level one CSR would make huge concessions without even being pushed. It's terrific it worked out for you. Now put the G2X back together and sell it on eBay.
i'm pretty upset nothing's going on with the g2x and everyone's moving to the sensation, thought this phone would be used by so many

A lot of people left even before the Sensation. And since it's no longer being sold by T-Mobile there aren't as many new users. What happens next depends on how well the GB update goes and the marketing support T-Mobile puts behind it (vs. the Sensation) once it's re-introduced. Also the Hercules is supposed to be out in the Fall so there will be another dual-core option with good dev support. It's still not too late for the G2X to recover from its rocky start. People have very little short-term memory.

[Q] A Little Advice Please

All-
I'm hoping to get some input or advice since this situation has become more frustrating than I can explain. My first G2x unfortunately suffered from the screen bleed and random shutdowns. Since that time I have had 3 replacements (refurbs) sent to me all of which had similar problems. I was told by T-Mobile support that I should wait for Gingerbread and that would fix many of the problems I had experienced. Unfortunately, it didn't. Then, I was told by T-Mobile that I could no longer exchange G2x's but could exchange only for a G2. So, now my options were to keep my G2x that shuts down 5-6x a day or accept a G2 which I was told was comparable (not a big fan of physical keyboards). I went to my local store and they gave me a 'new' G2x that I was assured wouldn't have this problem and on the first day has already rebooted 2x. I really do like this phone but since I use it for work, it's important that I know it's on and working. It doesn't seem fair that's the phone I'm offered since the Sensation seems more comparable to me. Can someone explain to me how they were able to exchange this phone for a Sensation specifically? I'd love a working G2x if someone can help me verify if this is a phone that has had any hard or software improvements from the original release.
Thanks in advance-
Darren

I wouldn't even bother trying for a Sensation... Just keep calling Customer Support until you get a Rep who will finally exchange you another handset. PATIENCE IS KEY!
If they wont give you a sensation, then try for a Mytouch 4g slide. Its the only other phone thats comparable to the G2x.
Thanks Guys-
Seriously I really love this phone, so maybe I'll just stay the course until I get one that works well. What I had a hard time believing is T-Mo telling me that I had exceeded my number of exchanges and that I would have to either take a G2 or be stuck with this phone...WTF? Haven't seen this kind of ultimatum.
It sounds like it's best to keep calling until you get the right person...
i have had 8 g2xs shipped to me, and i have paid the 20 dollar fee not one time. I just call in and say i am calling so i can get another G2X shipped to me. then i say that since i am within the first 30 days of my most recent G2X this one should be shipped free. works like a charm every time.
but after 8 G2Xs, i want a sensation, but i have never got a rep to offer me one.
Did you try Gingerbread? Works great on my G2X! No random reboots or shutdowns on mine, try it out!

Have you tried walking into a T-Mobile Franchise store? Once you can show them what is going on, the response is much better.

First, are you using the OTA update v21f? If yes, great. Next step, wipe the phone, do a factory reset. It really does do wonders for a lot of phones. After a wipe, I would then try operating the phone with OTA update without restoring any 3rd Party applications (at least the random ones - things like twitter, facebook, etc are liklely not causing any headaches). I would continue use the phone in a stripped down form for a good 12-18 hour period and see how it responds. If the phone seems to function properly at that point I would then and only then start to add back applications in the order of most importance. If the reboots return I would uninstall the most recently installed applications.
I know this seems like a bother, but anyone who has gone through the effort of trying four different phones can surely spend a day or two testing the hardware to insure that the phone is the problem and not some random application you are running that is tanking the phone.
Who knows, the factory reset may be all that is needed?

[Q] looking into buying a G2x

would appreciate you expressing your likes/dislikes about this phone. if problems from when it was released have been addressed, etc. If you feel their is something noticeably better by T-mobile, u can also point me in that direction.
note: i am looking into the new Wallmart/T-mobile deal (with grove IP)

The G2x is a solid phone man. I love the design and it's very fast. Screen is nice and big, ISP display is highly underrated. Some people get random reboots but I've never experienced that.

I just got it as my first smart phone. I love it, i was originally going to get the S2 but decided on the g2x and i am glad i did. Just root it and run weapon and you should be good.
thx for replys, id b upgrading from an optimus V (virgin mobile) so it will b a much newer phone (not that the ov is a bad phone, just outdated).
I would suggest you pick another phone, my wifes g2x has been freezing, rebooting, not turning on and this is the second one thats been doing it. lG are sposed to be working on an update, but im not holding my breath. There is the glacier which i have and love it, sensation, sgs2, amaze....so much better phones.
XOOM
I myself live this phone ...Yes it had to be replaced one time because the phone itself had a problem staying connected with a server ... But now I've had no major problems whatsoever .. Haven't had any rebooting problems but I might have it freeze here and there, but then I'm always flashing my phone so if it freezes it doesn't bother me... I know someone who has the sensation and have had the chance to really check it out and really don't care for it ... IMHO this phone blows it away... haven't checked out any other new phones so I can't comment on them but I can say I'm happy with this phone ... Especially now that we have CM 2.3.7

[Q] how did u get t-mobile to switch g2x for something else?

I called tmo today because I was under the impression that people were being offered sensations as replacements is that not true? They said they could only get me into another g2x...
im wondering the same thing & thats exactly what they told me, i hope someone has an answer for this
They only offer you another phone if you've exchanged it more than 4 times and/or they ran out of G2x's temporarily on stock.
Why you asking that here? Those people are gone and good riddance to them. Go in the other forum for the phone you want and ask did anyone get TMO to switch from G2X to this phone. Don't pollute our forums here. Thanks.

Don't Hate on people for running out of patience with the G2X
It is possible to love your G2X and hate it at the same time. I finally decided to try to finagle an exchange and my helpful representative told me that if they only can offer a Sensation if they have no G2X phones available. As of Nov. 5th they had phones in stock. I was out of luck anyway because the reason I gave them was spontaneous reboots, which is in fact true and annoys my wife more than me when she can't call me. The T-Mobile representative said it was a "Known Problem" and that providing a replacement G2X wouldn't solve the problem. She indicated they are working on a new ROM that will hopefully fix this problem. I realize it is probably the 2.3.4 that was leaked and a couple custom ROMS are based on. I wish it was ICS but I highly doubt it has even been started. Once again I will have to depend on XDA to provide the support that LG seems unable or unwilling to provide in a timely manner. That lack of support is the biggest reason I would ever consider switching to a Sensation. Both HTC and XDA have far better software support for the Sensation. Frankly, I'm kinda glad I couldn't switch.
Just because you love your G2X, don't hate on someone else who has run out of patience with it's well documented short-comings. I love my G2X as much as anyone but I also hate the little things that keep it from being the best phone it should have been.
In the mean time I will enjoy waiting for the Galaxy NExus or Galaxy Note to arrive or maybe, if ICS comes soon enough to the G2X to scratch my phone itch, I'll have the patience to wait for Tegra 3 based phones to hit the market with 720p screens. That sounds mighty tasty to me.

i went through, 3 g2x's till they finally offered me the sensation 4g.. had it for a month and just got rid of it 2 days ago. now im back to the g2x lol. once i played with the g2x after not having it for over a month. all i gotta say is wow. this phone is stupid fast compared to the sensation 4g lmao. also the sensation 4g has the wifi death grip which pissed me off a lot. lol
also when i received the sensation 4g, it was refurbished and came with a 2gb sd card from adata. also it came with ****y blackberry headphones and the usb/charging cable. there was no box and they gave me a printed out version of the quick start guide lol.

You can't really blame him for being frustrated with his G2x. Mine has zero issues but that's not the case for a lot of people. Anyway, why would he post this somewhere else? It's not like they'd know anything about switching out a G2x if they don't have one.
I've heard three is the magic number. After your third, they offer you to switch. My brother switched his G2x out for a myTouch 4g Slide. Good luck.
I went through 6 G2X's before they offered me the Sensation. I ended up doing the switch, I loved my G2X as it was faster than the Sensation but i just couldn't put up anymore with the droped calls, screen bleeding and so on. I'm just glad i have a full working phone..... Now as soon as I find a cheap G2X on CL i'll be back loved the speed of my G2X.
so my question is this: if you run cm7 on both devices, does the sensation still feel slow?

Yes The Tegra2 chipset easily outclasses the Snapdragon S3 My friends sensation on CM7 feels no where the same.

I don't understand what people base speed on. CM7 is damn smooth on my G2x, and I love it. But CM7 on my MT4G is just as smooth... even with a single core Snap.
Apps open up in milliseconds for me on both phones. Never lags on my MT4G either, just like on my G2x. So maybe the G2x may be faster, but I am for certain the human eye can't detect the millisecond difference.
