So this new market blows. I have a Droid X on miui 1.8.5 and while trying to download a bunch of apps, I get:
"Your device is not compatible with this item"
For the life of me cant fix it. Put the LCD density back at stock 240 (its at 210 now) cleared market cache, tried jrummys market fixer apk, edited the build.prop manually...nothing. if anybody can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

uninstall updates. go back to the old market. problem solved
I've got the same problem...
sent from my epic. thanks samung for the damn key skips
already tried uninstalling updates... miui 1.8.5 comes with the new one originally, so i don't have the option
I assume you were using Android Market 3.1.3?
In case you were using an earlier one I have a link to it too.
Custom dpi (lcd density) seems to cause the "incompatible" problem with the new market.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1196417
Going back to 240 dpi and clearing market data makes everything work as it should.
You can then go back to your custom dpi, but most users are reporting the problem comes back after a while.
:edit: Oh you tried that
I ended up going back to market 2.3.6
I tried going back.to the old.market but kept getting FCs.. anyway, found a thread that suggested trying 160 for the LCD density.. worked like a champ. Set it back to 210 for now and its still working, until I clear cache anyway. I suppose there's no way to fool the market into thinking the LCD density is different than what it actually is?

You are correct though, I am now on 3.1.3 market. Never did have the old green market on this version of miui though.

Hey guys I changed the lcd density from 240 to 230 using root explorer in build.prop. makes screen look nice but after looking it.disables/hides netflix app in app drawer. Any ideas or is this normal. Not.sure if any other appear are hidden or.not. just looking.for.some insight.

It messes with other apps too....thats why i dont bother changing it.
Good to know. I just changed it back. Was nice for a bit. Just a cool factor. Oh well thanks for the quick response.

Did any other apps hide? Also, what version of netflix were you
using?

My LCD density is set at 200, and I have never seen it hide apps on me. The one time I did have an issue with apps not showing in the drawer, I just cleared the data for LauncherPro and that brought them back.

I think one.more app was hidden. Never took the time to check which one. I was using the netflix app from the market the latest release that supports froyo official no fixes or anything. Thanks guys. Im loving my charge(came from fascinate). This forum is so responsive and you guys are great. Especially kvswim for.his help with gps.

Just tried it again and whatayaknow damns netflix pops up. Lol. Didn't have to wipe or anything it just worked this time. On a side note. Anyone know how to fix dialer keypad? I would use 200 as the setting but dialer gets screwed.

It's just something you have to live with. No fixes that I know of...unless a real dev has something to say about it

One day to my surprise there was a new ui on my Netflix, so much better so I looked it up to find out they finally made it tablet friendly
A couple of days later I'm back to the old Netflix
I didn't change anything on my xoom since then
Does anyone have the new updated Netflix apk? I can't find it for the life of me

What's wrong with the one in the market? Works great on my xoom. Go to apps and do a search.

The point was it was from the market, no matter what I did, which version I installed I got old crappy look
A wipe and reinstall of my Tom fixed it tho

The one on the market displayed both UI's. It's an HTML5 app so they can change the way it looks without you updating the app. If you were tweaking your build.prop or pixel density it may have thrown the app off so that it displayed the old ui.
I been using 192 with some app on the market but it was too small on that density. Then i tried 240 and it was to big.
So, whats the best density to choose.
And after that market kept saying in the updates that its not compatible with my device..
Its the density has todo with that??
240 is the regular screen size I believe.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
you believe correctly, it is 240
Edit: forgot to mention to try 220 if 240 is to big. Everything works if someone knows certain apps that wont update, please tell.
Ok yall i would try that.

Tell me what you think. I just switched to 220 to see how it is also. Don't really mess around with it much but I think im going to keep it this way.

I iust change it to 220. It looks like the same density as 240.
Have tried any other?

work.

Are u sure it didn't change anything? It looks completely different for me. How did u switch density, app or build prob? I used build prob.

you are better off keeping the density at 240. When you change it, the market will not let you download certain apps because it changes the screen resolution to a tablet type res. It is a bug with the market.

Go to 200. There's an app called font changer that also allows you to conveniently change the screen density, it's what I use.

I had my density at 215 for a while and last month i tried redownloading facebook and a few other apps and it said not compatible with device. It is quite annoying, google responded to users complaining about the issue and they basically said that we shouldnt be altering our phones. Oh well....
I have 2 at&t Infuse4g, with one running Catyrom and the other running Zeus.
By the way I love both roms....pretty sweet.
My question is that EpixHD app is not avail to these phones with me running these Roms. EpixHD states avail to Android 2.1 and higher and obviously these r higher but unavil in the market.
Is there way to get this apk not thru the market? It's a free app. Forgive my ignorance if there is a easy way.
I know when I'm on stock Rom it's there.
Thanks
You have to make changes in the build.prop. I don't know if it would work on those two roms either because i never tried it. If you can get it on the stock roms, I would wait till you went back to those roms and just back the app up with tbu and see if that works.

go on the stock browser and change the useragent to desktop. to do this type about:useragent in the address bar, then log into gmail from the website and go to market.android.com
this also can be done from a computer that is logged into the same gmail account that is on the phones.
the android market is very weird with keys and carrier branding. there have been fixes and you can Google them but I gave up on that stuff once they started with the web market.
Update:
Well I was wrong I could get Epix on Zeus not on Caty rom.
But I'm good now!!
Thanks everyone!
I searched around and there was an old thread about this but the actual poll wasn't made. So here it is again, and please comment about the method that you used.
I've used the Stock tool in AOKP's ROM, but I'm experiencing Market Compatibility Issues so I may buy LCD Density Modder Pro.
Edit: 50 views, and 1 person voted (me). Come on guys. Or are all of you on 190.
Mine is 190 (not on the poll) as cm9 is weird with 180.

Using 190 as well. Changed from rom toolbox, no market issues because I downloaded the edited apk but my dialer is smaller than the screen so I'm searching for an edited apk for that now.

I'm on AOKP and 180 worked fine on the dialer (the actual app crashes on an incoming call, but still it looked good @ 180). What should I google to find the edited market apk? Is it density specific (i.e Market w/ 240dpi spoof)? Sorry, I don't really know the nuances of my phone yet.

190 is mine also.
The little blue pull-down circle ring in SkyICS is off-centered now.
And RocketDial app has everything smaller, it didn't resize properly.
The only reason I'm doing 190 is to fit everything I want in one view on the Apex launcher bar.
EDIT: I thought I was 190 but I'm actually 200.
160. Use them good eyes while you got them

Do you get market compatibility issues with 160? And doesn't the phone crash at 180 and below?

Here's the difference between 240 and 200 for me. http://imgur.com/a/6JPVC
Edit: What methods for both of you
ROM Toolbox here.
I restored all my apps from Titanium so didn't have to go to market to install anything.
I originally tried 180 but it was just too small for my older eyes.

I used ROM Toolbox to change the density then LCD Density Modder to Fix Market Compatibility
And I can send you a link to the phone fix... its just an apk that you need to copy to your /system/app folder then reboot.
Also no market issues at all.

Edit. I did see that some apps were not being seen in market so I purchased LCD DENSITY MODDER pro. However I dont use thoes apps. I also wanted to play with fooling the market

That would be wonderful, I just brought that ***** down to 160 (trying out the market fix in Themes/Apps section) so a stable phone would be great.
Also on ROM Toolbox question, is it really as good as advertised? Replacing ROM manager, Tit Backup, Root Explorer, etc.

Honestly, I use Root Explorer for what it's used for and ROM Manager for what it's used for.
ROM Toolbox might do all those things just as well. But I never bothered to try using it for any of those.
I have used ROM-T for replacing boot animation (the selection isn't super) and some icons like 4G or Wireless in the pull down (again, selection isn't super).
And toyed with it for overclocking.
I stop using it for awhile but always seem to find something useful in it to use here and there.
This is what I used for the market fix... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639213 .. can someone post the edited phone.apk? Thanks!

On miui changing the density will crash the home. On aokp under 190 phone won't work. Cm9 under 180 things get thrown off like the circle in the pull down.
Android 4.0.4 AOKP
"Here's the difference between 240 and 200 for me."
Now that's just creepy - I have the EXACT same toggles in AOKP, but my swagger is ON
Is Rom Toolbox the best way to go for changing density? I using LCD Modder and set standard/boot to 190. Basically thought I had bricked for a few minutes, phone went fully unresponsive. Battery pull + power only showed Samsung logo followed by nothing, luckily booting into Recovery wasn't a problem.
EDIT: SkyICS
I use Rom toolbox. I am on SkyIce 4.2E and have no problems using 160 or 200. The only reason i stay at 200 instead of 160 is my eyesight. Im not blind, but i dont like straining either. Yes, the dialer screen at 160 is really small, but still plenty usable. I dont really get picky over the small stuff.
