I have an issue with the email application I'm hoping I can find a solution to with the great knowledge of XDA
I have multiple email accounts like I'm surevmany of you
One for work
One gmail
One yahoo
One for stuff that I think will spam me
One for stuff like forums and personal stuff like banking
The issue is if I use an app such as evernote and want to email it. Android uses the default email account and I can't change that unleashing changebthe default account in the email settings
I don't want a default account but android makes one regardless of if you choose it or don't choose it
May be a problem with Evernote not the email app. Whenever I want to email something form my phone it asks me if i wana use gmail or the email client. In either case I can select which address I wana send from.
I don't get that option grrrrrr
For instance I know its not evernote because if I Jolene my gallery choose to share a picture I get to s of options Bluetooth, email,Facebook, twitter, messaging and so on but if I choose email it automatically opens gmail.
What do you have that I dont?
Bump for a possible response
Why when composing an email from an app am I not allowed to choose my email address?
ill bump this for a hopeful response and add a second question
why am i not able to email the HD files i record with the email app?

Hi Guys and Girls!
Just a quick question I wondered if any of you forum guys had an idea of a way to receive e-mails from 2 Windows live email accounts to one device?
I have a hotmail.com address which I've had for ages and is used for messenger, facebook and any other crap like that and i have a live.co.uk account that I use for all important e-mails such as Jobs, banking etc.
I dont want to set the one account just to forward to the other account but as far as I can see you can only sign into the windows live application with 1 ID and you have to keep switching. Also it won't let you set up the other e-mail address through the general Email account setup.
If anyone has any ideas that might help I will be very appreciative!
Many Thanks All!
The only way as far as i know is to just bookmark one of the hotmail accounts in your browser and just refresh it whenever you want to check for new mail. It works for me. Cheers.

Yeah but it kind of defeats the object of having Push Email though...
Sorry, but it don;t know of any way to do it. as you have already noticed, the Live app only supports one account. Maybe something like fleximail or a similar 3rd party mail app would allow you to have multiple hotmail accounts??
Hello
I like the email client that comes with android (the one for accessing secondary email accounts). It does seem to have a major limitation though, you can not move mail around to different folders (e.g. lets say an important message ended up in my spam folder by accident, I can not see any way to move that message to the inbox)
If this is in fact possible could someone please tell me how to do it, but if it is not (which from what I can tell this is the case) can someone recommend an email app that supports this function.
Thank You
***UPDATE***
Yes I am using the vanilla/AOSP email app being that I am running cm6
The email account that I am connecting to is my AOL account. I am not 100% certain but I thought AOL uses IMAP.
So I guess the new questions are 1) does AOL use IMAP and 2)does the AOSP email app allow you to move emails between folders
If what you are accessing is a POP3 account, then I believe no email client permits you do do this (as this sounds like a sync function only found in IMAP accounts).
What I found to work best (and easiest) is to have my alternate email accounts foward all my mail to my gmail account, and have my gmail account tag each email with the name of the incoming account (hotmail emails are taged hotmail, etc.).
This lets me recieve all my email with one single app (Gmail), provides me with push notifications for every email, permits me to sync emails effortlessly, an so on.

I'd think that any email client can do it, but I personally use K9 Mail and love it, and it certainly does this.
As the above poster says, if you're using POP this might not be possible. IMAP it certainly is. You should not being using POP anyway.
Don't know about the vanilla android one but I know the HTC Email program will let you move between folders.
I need to find a way to save Emails on an Android phone, no Email client will do that so far as I can find?
My ISP is POP3 ONLY and I'm unwilling to change my email address so don't say use IMAP or Gmail.
I have no problem saving messages on my BB or on a WinMo phone, why can't Android's email client do that? BB has a 'save' option on the email menu which moves the mail to a Saved folder, WinMo allows me to create a Saved folder and move email to it which remains after it's deleted on the server, exactly the same as any email client on a PC so why does Android not allow anything similar?
NOTE: I've set my PC's email client to delete message from the server when they're downloaded, that's not going to change, there has to be a way for the Android device to do that or must I go back to WinMo or BlackBerry because of this one ridiculous failure of the Android OS?
Not sure i'm seeing the problem here. If you want to save your emails just don't delete them?
Same for me. I'd love to be able to make email folders so I can organize the accumulated emails. Having all emails in the inbox just doesn't work and is a pain in the ass.

I believe you're correct, I'm currently back on my BlackBerry as one solution to the problem.
you could try opening a gmail account, sync with your pop3 account and dont tell anyone your new e-mail address
What Robbie said. You can have emails forwarded to your GMail?
Check out K-9 mail. The native email client that comes with android blows- it's bare bones and it's meant to be that way. The phone and the OS is designed to use gmail as your main email. Although a gmail account is my main email, i also have to use some other email account and the native android email app does't cut it for me. K-9 has an archive feature which will create a local folder and save a copy of that email. I am using IMAP and haven't setup anything with pop3, but give it a try and see if this app works for you.

I have set up k9 and tried the archive but it just took the message of the server, how did you copy it instead?
Now that people are getting their new phones I would like to know if Sense 3.0 has any improvements in the email application, specifically when using IMAP.
Firstly I would like to know if the email app now supports IMAP IDLE, which may be listed as Push.
Also I would like to know if you can have multiple "From" addresses per mailbox so that I can choose who to reply as.
Lastly I would like to know if you can have an auto BCC for each mailbox.
Thanks.
I guess I asked too soon.
Bumping.

Just a quick reply to this
1) I have my google mail set up in htc mail as an IMAP there is no option to set the update schedule for push mail. I cannot see any other option to set it up for IMAP Idle so I assume it does not work with HTC mail.
2) I have both an exchange activesync mailbox and a google email mailbox set up in htc mail. When you compose an email there is an option on the top to select the from address you are sending to.
3) In the send and recieve settings for each mailbox there is an "always bcc me" option. I just tested it and it looks like it will only automatically bcc to the same account you are sending from. You do have the option of adding other accounts when you are composing an email.
Hope this helps.
one more thing abt the new Sense email app;
is multiple selection possible for ex. to 'mark as read' or 'delete' purposes?
(asking as a potential Sensation owner soon)

Yes this was implemented in sense 2.1

Thanks for this. It's a pity that HTC decided to add eye candy to Sense instead of working on useful features like IMAP IDLE.
I just need some clarification on (2). Does changing the From address change the account or can you have two accounts with multiple from addresses?
Thanks

I don't understand what you mean but from what I gather it changes the account you send from. Only one from account can be selected.
I don't know if it is new but the Sense 3 Mail program also supports multiple exchange accounts.
Extra exchange accounts must be added from within the HTC mail application.
Now I can use my personal and work exchange accounts on the phone at once. 1 up over my Touch Pro 2.

Ahh. OK. What I was talking about was using it with an account that is a catchall. account
Say I have owned domain custom-roms.com I could have any email that was sent to any address at custom-roms.com all come into one mailbox. So email sent to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] would all come into the same mailbox which could have the default address of [email protected].
However when it came to replying, say I wanted to reply to an email sent to "kernel" but I didn't want to reply from the default address of "admin", with some mail clients, like K-9, I could choose to use one of the other "From" addresses even though they all belong to the same account.
Ok I see now, setting the from address to an alias set up to the account.
In that case no, from your example you will only be able to choose the [email protected] account. The from addresses you select from are derived from the mailboxes you set up in HTC mail. It is not a text box which you can edit but a list you select from.
The only way to do what you want is to set up an actual account for each of those emails, not aliases and then add each of them to HTC mail. not really what you were looking for though.
I have a question. On my G2 I was able to press a button at the top of each email to "Show Pictures" to display the embedded images and content. I can see it when I bring up my Google account emails, but not my normal POP3 email. As it is the only thing I can view in my emails are just words and links. Is there anyway to fix it so I can view images on there?
Thanks for the help!
exchange calendar sync
Hi,
I am using my phone with my company's exchange server. Since I bought it 1 week ago i never managed to sync my calendar. it tries for about 2 mins then it tells me socket timeout error.
i did a lot of search in the forums but none of the recommendations worked.
strangely my galaxy tab has no issues at all, working just fine.
Any help will be very appreciated.
Cheers
Does anyone know of an email app where you can setup multiple accounts and 'Respond' to an email with whichever account you like regardless of which Inbox the email is is.
When I was using the native 'Sense' email, it was great. I could open the email in one account and simply respond using from whichever account I wanted (drop down 'from' list) whereas now that I'm on AOSP (CM10.1) I don't have that option any longer.
It also needs to have Exchange ActiceSync functionality which is limiting my options.
Yep - K9
Choose answer and tap your email account on top. You'll be prompted for 'send as'.
I can't say anything about Exchange active sync so.
yeah thanks, I tried K9 already but it doesn't have EAS. I don't really want to use POP for hotmail.
