[Q] Can't uninstall Arabic keyboard? - HTC Inspire 4G

Not sure where it came from (may be part of VU ROM), but my Inspire 4G has an Arabic keyboard from Parfield Software that I would like to delete. It has no uninstall option in its settings, nor in Settings/Applications/Manage Applications.
I found and deleted a com.parfield.inputmethod.arabic folder from data/data, but the keyboard persists and the folder comes back on reboot. I found and deleted parfieldIME.apk in system/app, but that did not do the trick.
I cannot find any other apk for this keyboard (one thread said to find and delete com.parfield.inputmethod.arabic.apk in system/app, but I do not see it) on the phone, searching with Root Explorer (searched on "arabic" and "parfield").
Any help would be appreciated.

Please where did u get this software i cannot find it on the Parfield Software website, thanks

Don't search for it. Go to system/app folder and look in there.

Hi,
I am based in the Middle East and do not have market in my galaxy tab. I hard reset my device and installed astro file explorer to check if vending.apk is available. It does show vending.apk, but the file size is zero and more over in system/app ,all the applications have .apk & .ODEX file but vending has only .apk ,which is 0 bytes. How can i replace the vending.apk and also add vending.odex to system/app. I tried root explorer but couldnt successfully paste vending.apk file. Any help will be really appreciated.
I can help,
Just type *#272*IMEI*
A screen will show, select SGX, (just back up everything before doing this)
your device will reboot, and you will find the market icon.
Download all market apps you want.

[Q] Unable to install soft keyboard

I have the TnT and Android keyboard.
Tried to install a couple. They show up in the Settings. Tapping the checkbox gave the Attention warning. Clicking on OK. But the checkbox remains unchecked.
In one of the case, when I click on "Enable", it says
"Sorry your device can't perform this action. Please send report to developer".
Am I missing something?
Lots of threads out there on this. Fix involves copying the apk from the data/apps folder to the system/apps folder I believe.

Would you mind telling me which keywords to search?
Thanks
I posted a how to video on my blog for this issue. http://www.androidappgeek.com/2011/04/gtablet-tutorial-enabling-third-party.html
Checked my device. The apk's are already in /system/app, not /data/app. I did not move things around.
What else is missing?
Thanks!
The keyboard I installed is Multiling Gingerbread Keyboard. I saw the file in /system/app.
Now I've uninstalled it but could not find a link to download the apk file. So I installed it again.
This time, the same problem. However, I can't find the Multiling file in either /data/app or /system/app.
Where is the file now?
Thanks!
Hmmm...I'm not sure how it would already have been in system/app. I found it it in the market like normal and moved from data/app to the system like i showed in the video. Worked perfectly on my end. Do you not have access to the market?

Yes I do. Most apps from Market installs and runs just fine.

How to delete stock .apks?

i tried to use a free-type root explorer; it didn't have the mount as r/w button, so i went and found a program that does only that? anyway, when i delete the apk's from the system folder nothing happens.
also, i need to add dutch to the bilingual stock keyboard.. only current option is espanol. anyone can help? my chef asked me what the code for holland was, it's nl_NL, but he never said what to do with that info after i found it.
There is an app that will uninstall system apps: Root uninstaller, iirc.
Barring that, you can delete system apps by opening the <rom_install>.zip, and going to system->app, next time you flash.
yay that worked.. no wabout that dutch keyboard..
Or even titanium

Don't delete unless u r too sure.
U could go into /system/app folder and rename all those u don't want to .bak files.
I just use the roms who just take care of the junk stock .apks lol

[Q] How to Install APK into System/App ???

I downloaded the Backup System Apps from here ... http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1209425
I put the DeskClok.apk on the sd card then I tryed to install, but it give me an error ..
how do I install this or any other APK into the system/app folder ?
is this okey to install on Galaxy Gio 2.2.1 FROYO ???
What is the error? because that helps give you an answer.
Do you have your settings to allow installs from outside the market?
Go to settings, applications, Unkown sources and tick the box.
What error are u getting?
I'm getting this error .. "error analysis ... there is a problem with the analysis package"
(don't know if its well translated .. I'm portuguese, so I get the error in portuguese)
I put it on the SD card .. clik in it and it give me this error ..
It probably said problem parsing the package. It maybe that that file is corrupted so look for a different one and try it.
well .. that was the only one I find here .. for galaxy gio
I accidentally deleted my DeskClock.apk ... I tried to search for it but none are the original clock for gio ...
I hoped this was the one .. don't you know how can I get the original DeskClock.apk for GIO 2.2.1 Froyo ??
Ok let me see what I can do.
thanks a lot
i'll be waiting for a reply !!
Ok considering deskclock a standard app here's a link download one of these apk's to see if it works try the newest ones first.
http://search.4shared.com/search.html?searchmode=2&searchName=deskclock+apk
You can even download from your phones browser to make it easier. Just make sure you have unknown apps checked.
thanks a lot ..
i'll try it now ..
Just hit the thanks button if I helped its a non-dev like me got.
System apps are not signed, so they cannot be installed through the normal way. You'll need Root Explorer or another root level file explorer. EStrongs File Explorer is free - you may need to enable root access in settings. I highly recommend getting Root Explorer if you can. It's on sale for $.99 in the Amazon App Store and possibly in the market. I purchased it from the market so I can't see the price right now.
Anyway, I'll give you the directions with Root Explorer, but they may be a little different with another app. Navigate to where you have the apk on your SD card. Long-press on the apk and select copy, then use the up level button (at the top of the folders, marked as "... " ) until you can't go any further. You'll be at the root directory of your phone. Open the system folder and select "mount r/w" near the top left, then app (you'll be in /system/app) and select the paste button. Long-press on the deskclock.apk and select "permissions" from the menu. Mark it so it looks like this:
Read Write
Read
Read
Then reboot your phone & it should be there.
Alternatively, you could reflash your rom without wiping data to get the app back. Reflashing will override any changes you've made to the system, and any apps you've deleted will need to be deleted again. Good luck!

Thanks a lot .. your tutorial about root explorer is really explicit .. I dindn't know it would be that easy .. i'll purchase and try it now
About Reflashing ...

He probably talk about to reflash your stock rom as i linked u in your other thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16810804&postcount=8 in second post of that thread is explain how to flash your samsung.

Why does my Go Keyboard reset to stock?

Hi guys,
would anyone know why my Go Keyboard gets reset to the stock keyboard after every reboot? Im thinking maybe the app is stored in the wrong location or something.
After rebooting, I must always go into Settings to change it from stock to Go Keyboard. I prefer not having to do that
Thanks!!
I don't know about this problem, because I'm not using the Go keyboard but what you might try is to navigate to /data/app/ and look for the go keyboard apk.
Important:
Just to verify, for all that I'm saying right now you need to have root permission. So if you don't have root this won't be a solution for you. And backup the files, before modifying them!
Well, as I said, navigate to the path and copy the apk to system/app/ and rename the existing AxT9IME.apk to AxT9IME.apk.bak (for example) and rename the go keyboard apk to AxT9IME.apk .
So what you did was just renaming the go keyboard to the stock android keyboard. Hope this helps!
If don't, just delete the modifyed AxT9IME.apk and rename the AxT9IME.apk.bak to AxT9IME.apk .
U might just freeze all un used ime with Titanium bkup or rename the. Apk to sth else like above said
