I can't be the only one who's fed up with Android's lack of fixed volume for the phone's keyboard click. It was the dumbest move to have it tied to the Media Volume and sadly it's still not addressed. Actually, it's addressed only in Honeycomb.
Is there anyway to get this to work with the stock Motorola keyboard on the Atrix? I don't want to download and install a keyboard from the market...I like the stock Moto multitouch keyboard...just wish it had fixed volume for the click.
I played with a Nexus S, the stock Android keyboard is the still the same way as well. Only on my Xoom is the volume fixed and separated from the Media Volume.
Help.
BUMP.
What, among the couple of million Android users and couple of thousand users on XDA, no one has an issue with this?

I just received my TF about 5 days ago and I'm a little disappointed with some things. Maybe it's my fault for not doing enough research, but I thought I had. I spent about a month reading and watching reviews. Anyway, I read that honeycomb was so great at multitasking. Yet, I feel like I have a first generation IPhone when it comes to multitasking. I was using Skifta and Moboplayer to watch television from my windows media center. I thought maybe I could fire off some emails and just listen to the show in the background. As soon as I choose gmail my video stopped. I noticed that with a lot of programs. I choose one and the other stops. Is there a settings that I'm missing? Also, after play my video files using skifta and moboplayer I lose the sound after about 10 seconds. I thought it was completely gone, but when I had the bluetooth headset on last night I could hear the sound really breaking up, like the TF didn't have enough processing. Well, I really doubt that because I would suspect the video would go before the sound.
The google voice recognition on my HTC hero with Cyanogenmod nightly build 6/27/2011 (112) is just superb. On my TF I have to talk really slow and it is rare if it gets it right. I don't know if it has to relearn my voice or if the microphone isn't as good?
I purchased the keyboard for the TF. It is very slow with delays. Sometime it just flakes out. It causes my cursor to jump to different spots quite often. I thought maybe I was bumping the touch pad, so I started to peck type and it was still happening. It gets better if I shutdown the TF and restart it with the keyboard attached. Is this normal or do I have a defective keyboard? Also, It seems like I have to hit the keys extra hard to make sure it registers.
Video chat?? Where is it? I thought this was Google proud OS. I can't get Google voice, Google talk video to work? Why do we have two cameras on it?
Granted I'm new and many of these things I'll probably discover along the way or there will be fixes. I only mentioned a few, but there are other issues with this device.
Is there a better rom than the default one that someone would recommend that might resolve some of these issues?
Sorry if this is too broad a topic for one post, but I thought I'd just keep everything together. Here goes:
How do I update to the new google talk that allows voice chat?
Also, didn't I hear something about video on Skype on the sensation?
One rather big issue is that I would love to turn this phone sideways to type so its easier (nice and wide), but I would also love to see the last line or two in the chat box as well. The screen is plenty big to have the sideways keyboard on screen as well as the line youre typing on, and also the last line or two of chat. That way, you can just hold the phone sideways to chat. Specifically, I'd love to be able to do this in gtalk and skype, but obviously it has other implications as well.
My phone volume overall is too low, both on speaker and off.
I bought my Sensation just a few hours after the unlocked bootloader was released and I read that a few people had successfully used it. I'm now s-off and rooted Can't wait to see how great this phone gets in the near future
So far, the wifi and 3g have been awesome. The phone runs cool, even when using the screen/wifi a lot and taking videos and pictures. It's super snappy too. The light sensor for when you hold it to your ear seems to function wonderfully as well.
The only keyboard I know of that allows you to control hits height in both landscape and portrait is Smart Keyboard. Its also the best keyboard available in my opinion with a ton of cool skins. It has very accurate auto complete and tons of options. I love having the option to make my long presses for the number row activate in milliseconds rather than waiting a couple of seconds. Its also faster than the HTC keyboard. There's a trial in the market. Check it out.

wow what an awesome keyboard! i have it installed. the only issue seems to be that when in landscape mode after sending a message, the keyboard automatically closes itself. you have to tap the text input field again each time after you send a message if you want to send another one. i dont see a setting to change this. other than that, its perfect! exactly what i was looking for.

1. Wait for the update
2. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/skype-2-available-for-other-devices/
3. Headphones or Speakers?
try Ultra keyboard. You can adjust the height of keys, add arrows and a host of other goodies.
Hi guys!
I upgraded to 8.1 a while ago and didn't have to use my Touch Cover since then. Now I had to write some things and I noticed that my Surface RT doesn't play the sound it used to play when I touch a key. Of course the sound was switched on and I didn't change anything in the configuration.
How can I get that to work again? It helps a lot to know if pressing a key was noticed.
Did no one experience this problem yet?
No. I can turn keyboard sound on and off without problem.
I remembered there one person found problem that he cannot turn keyboard sound off even the setting is switch off after upgrade to Windows RT 8.1. Maybe it the same case.
Only thing I can recommend is try turning the feedback sound off and on again. It's a new (modern) control panel in 8.1, if you hadn't already seen that.
any idea how to **change** the keyboard sound????
Pretty sure it's just a small collection of audio files (different keys have different sounds, but they're all very short, probably WAVs) but I don't know where they are.
for some weird reason on devices with 4.3+ (or maybe even 4.2+ I dont know as I never used a 4.2 device with MX) the volume slider appears when changing the volume while watching movies which is extremely annoying as it's fairly large and right at the center of the screen, also it is not needed since MX des display the volume on its own.
I dont see a system limitation as when you use a software switch in Poweramp to change volume, you dont get to see the volume slider
Please make this happen because as I said it's fairly annoying.
Edit 1: for the record I use MX Player Pro 1.7.33 and I used it on multiple devices, the most recent and active being my Note 3 with Omega ROM 22.1 (KK 442)
Edit 2: as I dont know whether or not this is on purpose I have tagged this as both bug and Request
It happened to me before but I dont really know when that dissapered, it was some versions ago, it is not showing in none of my devices now.
Which version of mxplayer are you using?
look at the last line of my post.
here's a shot I just taken:
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/sv5zp4084db654t/AACb75W_R7ZW7qEasE4Zk-_Ma
the slider is modded into being slightly transparent so it is not so annoying, but still...
btw when you have software volume 200% activated you will only see it in the first 15 segments, anything above is not connected to the device volume and will not be shown (at least that's what I think)

Sorry, didnt read that line.
Well, I have had sometime not using system volume.
Try changing settings>audio>system volume panel.
oh thanks. never knew there was a setting for that., it would probably better disabling this by default, since why would you need it, it just blocks the viewand adds notthing as you already have a gesture for volume and the volume is already shown in a very nice manner...
I thought it was a bug or similar as in a direct comparison at the same time with a GB Rom and a 4.3+ Rom on the same deivce (Galaxy S Wifi 5.0 Custom ROM FTW) both on latest MX only on the 4.3+ the panel appeared while on 4.1 and lower it was hidden.
Wondering if anyone else noticed this...I imagine it is on other phones as well, but since upgrading to Android 10 and using the gestures, there is a weird gap...or dead space between the spacebar and the bottom of the phone, almost like they didnt account for the lack of navigation buttons when using the gestures in Android 10. I keep pressing this void space, expecting to hit the spacebar and yeah, it doesnt work too well. Anyone know of this being something that the Android team is looking into? Seems like this would affect a ton of people.
check in the google issue tracker if they are looking into it
