I have been on the Android market, and done some searching here on the forum and so far no joy.
I am looking for an app where you can set up lock/unlock methods for individual apps and/or settings. The ones I found and tried all seem to be setup when there is a password/pincode/gesture input and then all the APPs are unlocked at once. I am looking for one that I can set up separately.
For example:
APPs; G-mail,e-mail = specific password/pincode
APPs; wi-fi, settings, = different specific password/pincode
APPs; Titanium Backup, Root File Explorer = specific (but again different than the others) password/pincode
Is there an APP available that has this type of capability of multiple grouping under different unlock methods?
Also is there an APP or any way to place a direct link shortcut for the lockscreen (only - no display turning off ) on the display? The APPs I have tried from the Android market do lock the device OK but they also turn off the display. I would like to activate the screen lock WITHOUT turning off the display. Is this possible? I have tried going into the settings and setting never turn off screen while charging, and also setting the time out always on/never and still when I activate the lock screen APP the display turns off.
If there is an APP that has a setting capability that would allow for disabling the the display shut off when activating the screen lock would be ideal, if there is an APP that has this type of feature, please point me in that direction.
An help on these items would be appreciated, TIA.
You might try Perfect App Protector and see if it suits your needs. It does pretty well for me.

Actually that is the one I have been using (actually kept installed, from trying and uninstalling multiple other lock apps). but again it is the the same unlock method (password/pincode/gesture) to unlock all "protected" apps, you can set it up where the app has to be unlocked every time you try to open that particular app, but I have not found a way to have a different unlock method (password/pincode/gesture) for different apps which is what I would really prefer.

Wondering if there was an app out there that would lock all setting and things to prevent someone else (little kids) from changing things around. Something that would allow all your apps to work, make phones call, use SMS, internet etc.. It wouldn't allow someone to move the widgets around are go into an app and change a setting etc... You know like a 3 year old stealing your phone off the table and start pressing all the buttons
Any such thing out there?
If you use adw launcher there's an option to lock the desktop, you can't move anything around
App protector pro password locks individual apps and also your system settings depending on what you select. Not sure thats what youre looking for.
Thanks I will check it out.
I am running Dman's rooted stock UCLB3 with Entropy's DD and Voodoo Lagfix. I love the setup but one this is really bothering me: I can't set the screen security time. I like the screen to go off in 15 - 30 seconds, but I want to be able to decide how long it will be until I have to use the security unlock. Now, there used to be a setting for this under Location and Security, but for some reason it is no longer there. Is it this ROM or is this missing from all 2.3.6 builds (i.e. stock)?
In case you aren't following me, I am attaching two screenshots, one from Samsung's website, the other from my phone. As you can see there is no "Timeout" menu on my phone. Was this somehow stripped from Dman's ROM (not impossible since the android.policy.jar file - the one that I believe is related to this menu - sometimes encounters issues from deodexing) or is this feature just gone from the phone? If it was stripped, how might I go about getting it back?
This is driving me mad right now, so I'd love to hear a definitive answer.
The setting that you are looking for can be found under Settings / Display. It wasn't stripped, you're just not in the correct menu.
No, that is a different setting. You'll notice that the display setting is to determine when the display will go to sleep (when it will automatically turn off), the setting I am talking about determines when the screen will lock after the screen turns off.
There are two programs with similar functions: Delayed Lock and JuiceDefender Ultimate. However, I suspect that the phone setting is still partially alive somewhere because both programs seem to wreak havoc with whatever settings are now default.
Oh, okay, now I understand. That feature isn't available in stock UCLB3, and there were no issues when deodexing.

Thanks. That's basically the answer I wanted. I've been poking through the guts of both the stock and rooted builds trying to find out what happened. It is really irritating that it's not there (well, for me it is!) because the security screen seems to have a mind of its own, particularly if you introduce alternative lockers into the mix.
For anyone who may be interested, you may be able to set the timeout by editing values in the android.policy.jar file in framework folder. Search around, you'll find instructions. I haven't tried this.
The two apps I have found that enable this functionality are Delayed Lock and Juice Defender Ultimate. However, neither app works well with 3rd party security locks such as Go Locker. The lock delay apps trigger the system security screen lock so you may have to go through as many as 3 screens before you get to your home screen.
Sorry, there is one other app: Password Delay. I did not try this because I want to use a pattern lock. PD does not work with patterns.
Yeah, join the club lol. I just learned to deal with it after a while. But I hear you. Tried looking for some alternative ideas... and I just kept unlocking everytime.

I'm using a Galaxy Note 3 with a recently installed 6.0.1 ROM, and the latest Google forced dual-unlock screens (i.e. where you need to swipe one screen away before getting to the actual pattern unlock screen) is really annoying me. I've searched, and tried lots of apps from the Play store, but nothing seems to do exactly what I want.
In fact, I really only have two requirements, which is why it seems so strange that I can't seem to find an app that fits amongst all the bells and whistles out there:
1) Initial pattern-unlock tool should be visible immediately after the phone is woken by the Power or Home buttons (i.e. no swiping away another redundant screen first).
2) 'Smart-Unlock' style feature to bypass the wake/unlock screen entirely when the phone is connected to a trusted Wi-Fi (home) or Bluetooth (car) connection. (Local connections preferred rather than GPS/etc location, as Android's Location feature can be a bit patchy inside our house)
Notifications, apps or widgets on the lock screen are not required, but I wouldn't object if they were available as options.
Can anyone suggest an app which fulfills both of the above requirements?
Andre
I can't be the only one wanting this, right? I am someone who doesn't use screen lock. I like to just quickly swipe to unlock my screen.
But sometimes at work when you keep your phone on your desk and want to go to the toilet, you want to quickly lock the phone just in case. Or you are charging your phone and need to step away for a minute. You want to quickly lock it up, and quickly unlock it again with a PIN. Android (and Samsung) do not make this easy, because going through the Settings page to enable and disable the screen lock is troublesome. It takes quite a few steps. I just need an app (or even widget) that quickly toggles a phone lock. It doesn't even need to use the Android system's screen lock.
There are plenty of apps that let you lock down individual apps. But I can't find one that locks down the whole phone just like the stock screen lock. I can understand this is not easy to program, but I think it is possible. Because I see apps like this that can keep you in the lockscreen until a certain time limit.

If Android Pie had a quick toggle for changing screen lock type (e.g. PIN / swipe), that would be perfect. I can't believe the developers haven't considered this. I mean, they even made a toggle for flashlight...
I don't want to use a custom launcher because I really like Samsung's One UI, and I don't want to install something like Tasker because I don't want to give it excessive permissions or root my phone.
Does anyone know of an app or a method to achieve what I described?
When I use facial recognition to unlock and app, after my face is recognized, before I can go into the app, I get a screen that is showing a message: "Verified. Tap confirm to continue". I am trying to get rid of that message and avoid the unnecessary extra step to press the confirm button before I can access the app. I am told by an app manufactured that it is a setting on my Samsung S22 Ultra with Android 12. But I am coming from an old Pixel phone and cannot find this setting on my new 22Ultra. Can someone direct me to the setting to turn off that extra step after facial recognition works? Thanks!
Sounds like you've installed some 3rd party app that does this. The default S22 behaviour doesn't show this message.
I can see you asked on other fourms, and they suggested things I was going to say. But it seems like some third party app is either doing this, or enforcing it.

Yes I posted on another forum but no solution there yet, just a few good suggestions that don't work. I don't have any other apps that enforce this behavior though. And I pressed support at RoboForm pretty hard about it and they insist it is not something in their app even though RoboForm is an app that it happens in. I am thinking it is when certain 3rd party apps are opened using face recognition, the Android system does not acknowledge those apps for some reason and pops up the message to do a 2nd confirmation before it will allow the apps to open. Thanks for the reply.
Have you tried unistalling Roboform to test if that fixes it?
I have found a few other apps that call up the exact same message so it is not just Roboform. I did uninstall and reinstall Roboform today for another reason and called up a health record app that does the same thing. It happened in the health app even with Roboform uninstalled.
I think we have determined that it is a system message. An app may call it up or trigger it when using face recognition but it is not generated by the app itself. If we knew what it was called then it would be easier to track it down. within Android or the Samsung settings. if it is even in the settings somewhere.
Yea, it's likely going to be a system message, that is called by certain apps in certain circumstances. But the only way you'll find it is to remove apps a few at a time until it stops appearing.
I get the same message and have looked everywhere for a setting. It doesn't exist. Pretty stupid behavior for sure.
Is there a solution? I have the same thing with Microsoft apps. So stupid..
Try: Settings, Biometrics and Security, Face Recognition, And untick: Stay on lockscreen until swipe.
For me, double tapping the screen or using the power button to wake the phone, triggers the face unlock which then quickly unlocks the phone with no other input.
Is this just one app, or all apps?
