The battery on the G2 looks almost the same as then one from the Touch Pro 2. Are they the same? I don't have my Touch Pro 2 anymore.
I did a comparison at the corp store. It's a bit thicker (you can feel with finger).
All you have to do is to flip the battery and cut the corner by the connectors, but the thickness may block the back cover even though it's 0.3mm thicker.
Good to know. The G2 might actually use the same battery as the HTC Eris and Dinc. Anybody can confirm that? I want to pick up a couple of batteries and a charger on ebay but don't want to pay a premium price just because they are listed for the G2 only.

Damn HTC , may wanna check the form factor of the battery it self.
I have a mytouch slide which has the same battery as the g2, 3.7v dc 1300mah
Thing is, not only would you have to flip it face side down to align with the pins, but the nub is backwards making the ass end of the battery stick out a bit too much, dunno what snappin that lil peace off would so as Im not a battery geek, and Im not sure how far the cells inside and its caseing are etc :\

+1 man the battery life for my G2 is better then my N1 but I think my N1 had a bad battery because mine was so horrible compared to what people had. Then again how would that work with this battery door

Definitely, the battery life gets me through the morning and afternoon but need a little more juice to get me through the night. I'm one heavy user

Really if i last till 4pm that is like heaven for me. I have charger in my car and work but still i hate that i have to keep my phone on the charge all the time I will be looking for a 1800 battery to replace the OEM battery
Here's to that.
Haven't had my G2 long, but the few days I have I've been around 20-25% at 5pm. I take it off the charger at 6am when I head to work.
Used a 2300mAh in my G1 - it spoiled me!
So I'm guessing no one has any information regarding if there is any extended batteries for the G2 yet? I just got my G2 yesterday and I pulled it off the charger this morning at 6:30 a.m for it to be dead by 4:30 p.m. I definitely want something to last a little longer than that.
As far as I've seen, there aren't any extended batteries yet. But the phone did just come out. It's going to take the case/accessories/battery companies a few weeks to get stuff shipping, I would assume.
If the battery in the G2 is the same as the one in the Droid Incredible (I am just speculating, they both seem to have the same specs), there is a slim extended 1750 mAH from Innocell on the seidio website.

Don't waste your time with the Seidio extended battery. It is nowhere near the 1750 that it is rated at.
Take a look at this thread: http://androidforums.com/incredible-accessories/98877-seidio-liar-liar-your-pants-fire.html
I can confirm that the Dinc battery does not fit into the G2, due to the tabs built into the corners.
Edit: you would also have to put the Dinc battery in upside down to align the contacts.

I remember reading somewhere that the G2 battery is the same model as the HTC Wildfire battery. Of course I can't find where I read that now. Does anyone know if that's true? I hope so, since G2 batteries on eBay are $30, whereas Wildfire batteries are only 5 bucks.

If it was true we would have heard about it by now and Ebay would be flooded with them.

Actually, upon searching ebay for "HTC vision" batteries Wildfire batteries kept popping up in the titles. Given that there's already extended batteries for the Wildfire that don't seem to be out of proportion, I'm thinking I'll be the guinea pig on this one.

Let us know if it fits! If so, what the difference in MaH is as well as real-life percentages please! I'd love to have a slightly bigger battery, just so I can make it through the day with WiFi on all day...
Superfly has reported in the battery thread in General that he is using a Seido from the Incredible. He is reporting nothing but goodness about it. He did have to slighty trim a corner to get it to fit though.

I found this. But, its kinda expensive.
I've been trying to find a good spare battery to get as a gift for someone but haven't been able to find the battery dimensions anywhere. Being square it looks like it should be compatible with the other HTC Devices, like the Sensation & Evo 3D, but I don't want to order anything unless I know for sure it is.
Does anyone know for sure if the batteries are indeed interchangeable or maybe be willing to measure one for me?
Just look on google/ebay for an inspire 4g battery, you might even be able to get one straight from htc so you know it's the correct one.
I just bough this. Took about 2 weeks to get here due to coming from china but well worth. Excellent battery life on them

Looks like a complete gimmick to me, is it really better battery life than stock?

Most aftermarket batteries are grossly overrated, but some are still decent. If the Inspire battery is the same size as the Sensation/Evo3D battery than I was going to get one of the chichitec 1900mAh. I don't know if it's a full 1900 but it definitely does last longer than the stock 1730mAh that comes with the E3D.
Thanks for the responses everyone. I ended up getting some chichitecs from Amazon, they don't have any reviews for the Inspire/DHD but I've been impressed with their evo 3d batteries so I'm hoping they'll do good too. Plus for 20$ it's a deal regardless. The Mugen 1500s got pretty good reviews in the DHD forum but $45 for a single battery is ridiculous.
If anyone is interested: CHICHITEC HTC Surround AT&T Inspire 4G 2x1500mAh Battery better than OEM + Wall Travel Dock USB Charger also for t8788 ACE BD26100 PD26100
Thats looks very very interesting. Ive heard of that brand before and its better than buying a no name knock off for way more. Please let us know how the new batteries work out!

Hey guys from the g2/dz forums!
The other day i came across a post that said that batteries for the evo shift where compatible with the g2/dz but they didnt show any proof
so later i found this freaking good deal on ebay that comes with 3 1800 mah batteries and a battery charger for a very low price
here is the link
Can someone please confirm this to me before i purchase them please!
I do know G2's batteries work in the Evo Shift. So yeah i would take it shifts batteries will work aswell
I am using an EVO 1800 mah battery in my G2. Get about 1 day and a half on CM7.1.
Ok thanks for the replies!
I guess im buying those batteries!
No don't get these batteries I did and they are not worth it they are at best 900 mah batteries and are way worse than stock and a month after using them they take nearly 8 hours to charge and 2 of them have this weird issue where it will start at 100% and just shut off when you start to do anything on the phone that uses a lot of battery and when you reeboot the phone it will display 17% battery left.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!

Not sure about the reds... for 17 bucks they probably are a knock off, but I am using the white HTC OEM Evo 1800 mah battery. Have been since the G2 came out. Got 2 and charger for $40 and still running great.
i have both an evo shift and a desire z. The batteries look almost exactly the same and the evo shift battery slides right into the desire z without any modification. The only problem is, the door doesnt fully close with the evo shift battery because it is like a hair thicker. I'm sure u can get it to close by pulling off the wrapper... but if you're going to go thru all the effort to mod it, you might as well get an evo battery (which has more mah then evo shift battery) and mod that lol.
i had the evo shift 1500mAh battery it does fit, but the battery door will not close fully. Returned the battery and ordered the HTC Incredible 2 battery 1450mAh perfect fit battery door closed all the way. I was a bit pricey at $30 but its oem.
Well apparently batteries for the G2 are used in many other phones.
This OEM original battery is made and manufactured by HTC and is directly compatible with your HTC devices. Don't buy non OEM batteries on ebay.. they are alll crap! Bought a 1500mah and the description states clearly "1500mah" and its worst then my stock battery... but it costed me 3$ lol

So I think its about time to accept that I'm going to need to buy a high capacity battery to be fully satisfied with my cappy's battery life. But I don't know what to buy, all the ones on eBay seem to be from Hong Kong, which I'm a little warry about since I don't want to put a sub par battery in my phone and have it fry it or anything like that. Has anyone bought one of these batteries and had an excellent experience with it? Is there any store in the US that might carry them?
--Thanks.
Try this battery here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303883. It doubled my battery life and it fits under my back plate. I ordered mine from www.cellguru.com. It is the battery for the Epic 4g touch but fits in the captivate fine

Just incase anyone is curious, I have found out the HTC Evo 3D battery is also compatible with our phone. It's a longer life battery than our stock and isn't too shabby. If anyone would like to pick one up cheap, RadioShack currently has them on clearance. I just picked one up myself.
