[Q] HTC Touch diamond - Fully working Android version wanted. - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
I am not starting this thread without doing my research.
I have installed few android versions (some will install and some won't). And the one I was able to install were not fully functional. They were either alpha or beta versions.
I can do with either 2.1, 2.2 or 2.3.
Can someone please tell me if there is a version out there that I can install and work perfect or near perfect on my HTC Touch Diamond?
I have been trying to search this forum and everytime I come accross a perfect version, it won't load on my phone. I am not sure what am I missing.
Hope someone understand where I am coming from.
I can describe where I am getting stuck etc as well.
Cheers
SB

A Small Query Regarding Andriod Installation on HTC Touch Diamond
Hi All,
I have a small query.
I am trying to install Andriod on my HTC touch diamond after reading from threads, the query is that where exactly i have to dump the extracted files. what is meant by "Internal storage"
If i place it in Internal storage i.e the 4GB one and try to run "haret.exe" its says that "cauld not read trailer"
and if i am trying to place it in the root folder i.e "my device" in parallel to "windows", "program file" etc its says not enough disk space. when i checked the memory available its less and data is larger... and just to be clear that HTC is not having data i already did a hard reset and removed my all data.
can you please help me.
Thanks!!!

small problem
i downloaded xdandroid for htc touch diamond...but while booting it shows "cannot find rootfx file on sd card, extracrt it"
but when i try to extract in mobile r laptop it shows...operation failed,i used many software to extract but no use...
pls tell me how to extract it...??
thanks..

[WORKING!] Android on XDA Orbit 2

Since I posted a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=675311 and nobody could help me. I spent the past 5 days trying to get it to work and did it successfully (through haret).
Here's how to did it:
1. Download this .RAR I put together that includes:
-Eclair
-haret
-default.txt
2. Edit the "mddi.width=320 mddi.height=480" part of the "default.txt" to your needs. (either 320/480 or 240/320)
3. Put the content of the folder "android-orbit2-eclair" to the root of your SD card so it should be something like this:
Code:
-(D:) SD Card [COLOR="Red"](root)[/COLOR]
--conf
--media
--default.txt
--haret.exe
--initrd.gz
--rootfs.img
--system.sqsh
--zImage
4. Navigate to the SD Card (start>programs>file explorer>storage card) and click on the "haret.exe"
5. Once that has loaded up click "run" (about 3 lines down on right side)
6. Just wait, Give it chance to do its thing and simple... Android running on your XDA orbit 2.
any problems, reply to this thread and I will try to fix.
Thanks, James
it dosent work on my htc touch cruise.
I click on Run, and the screen becomes gradually black, and that finished as that… nothing any more occurs.
The screen is lit, but is black, and nothing occurs.
New problem now: I have the same message than you :
Code:
sh:2: unknown operand
losetup: /dev/block/loop 1: No such file or directory
Failed
Failed to reach system.img on SD card.
Whats the problem ?

If you read the title it says for XDA orbit 2 not touch cruise.
Have you managed to get gprs/3g working with this? I can't seem to get mobile web working on my XDA Orbit II
I dont know whart u are doing here.
But i can use myns donut and eclair totally easy without modding something.
I just have to use the right "default.txt"...
Most packages you find here habe a "default-polaris.txt" in it or you use the one form myn ... It works great for the orbit 2 too
.....
But maby i dont get what you are doing here.. some special build or something?
BUt running android on orbit 2 is net a problem at all just use right conf.
-----------------------
@moondemon
Wifi works with myns eclair and donut. There are fixes (androidupdate.tar) you have to use (nomorootfs)
could u tell me which version have u installed? 1.6?
I succeeded installing the 1.6 version. but when I was trying installing the latest version, I was stucked at the screen which requires me to long-push the dpad center button. I did it but didnt work. I've even tried every keys, still didnt work.
could u give me a hand on it?
I have tried myn's and default-polaris does not work on my xda orbit 2. Also when I do get haret to run I have had trouble actually getting android to boot due to a continual "power wakeup" message. The default-polaris results in a flashing white screen for me. This config is the only config that actually works on my orbit 2.
Hello, i am just a newbie on Android for Polaris, so plz forgive me dump postings At the moment i am a bit spacy what i have to put together to work Android on my XDA2.
android-orbit2-eclair works on my XDA2 after installing but:
phone can't do outgoing calls:
3G can`t connect,
Cam/Gallery crashes
Wifi works.
Touchscreen works and all the rest.
before i installed the recent builds of froyo and eclair
System shows 10-15 min nice boot flash, then it works, but touch screen doesn`t work.
Anyway all the developers doing a great job here!

Im not using sd haret anymore. If you try with nand flash (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636024) everything works like a charm.
But as i used haret on my Orbit2 i was good with the package myn offered in her donut(or eclair im not sure).
In the package were a default.txt and a one for polaris/Orbit. I changed the polaris one to default (renaming) and it worked.
I think it was the donut package and it worked with zimages for eclair too.
Try this package if it works its worth a attemp to look into the default txt for other builds.
But atm i would suggest to give android at flash a try. Its almost perfekt for daily use if you not to much with some special programms on winmo.
As far as i read there are problems with haret atm gernerally that programms close even if install is fine.
Seems that flashing is the solution to all my problems, but
can you try to explain what makes the difference between haret and a NAND flash install relatet to the runing system?
Unfortunaley my XDA Obit2 is the carrier of my beloved navigation software. The other Wimo apps are junk compared with android. If there is a offline solution for Car Navigation on android, i could kick Wimo into the trash bin. Also i am a Linux user as well on my PC
Camera and astro application not working
Camera and astro application not working .. please help ...
xda orbit 2
I stuck these sections of
I've tried it and it seems it works, but I have a few questions and one major problem:
1. I installed the systems without the SIM card. When I started it again with SIM card, system says that the PIN I type is wrong altough I know that it's correct. How to solve it? Maybe it is so because I'm not O2 customer?
2. Is it possible to boot Android automatically without flashing NAND?
3. Can I theoretically Install Donut or Froyo using this method simply by putting different Zimage in the folder?
4. Do I have to perform another installation in case of buying a battery of more capacity? I saw that default.txt contains information about the battery.
5. May it work well If I change default.txt to the one prepared by atools?
Thanks for advance and greetings.
Double post, sorry.

[Q] How do I get Android on a Vodafone HTC Touch Pro2 with Windows Mobile installed

I have a TP2 I got from Vodafone, pre loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro (5.2.21854 build 21854.5.0.80), but would like to change or at least try Android. Is there an image (cab) I can download and install.
My CPU is QUALCOMM(R) 7200A. ROM version 1.86.161.0 (67102) WWE
CAN you even? :S
You would have to have a custom ROM built for your phone unless there is someone else out there with the exact same model of phone that is running Android. That is why there are so many people with newer models of phones, like the Kyocera Zio that can not upgrade to FROYO or Eclair. They have to wait for the ROM to be built. (At least that is my understanding)
search for xdandroid.
Sent from my MSM using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Thanks guys
I am trying Boushh Rhobuntu Shortcut Dinik.cab but kept getting stuck with booting. Says it can't find the "default.txt" script. To get it going I refreashed my HTC by clearing the memory and going back to scratch. Then before I did ANYTHING else I copied over the files and folders from my Laptop to the SD Card. Restart and boot. WOrked a treat.
Then went to XDANDROID and copied over the cab file to the SD Card and installed from the cab. Almost worked. Tried deleting the data file and re installing.... DId several times, until I managed to get it going with Project Android 2.2Blazin.092810
Only two major issues!!!
There is no sound to the phone or alarms and notification. The ONLY option is SILENT and
I think this may be related, it states that there is no SD card installed, which is less than honest as the system was installed and booted from the card! ANd I think that MAYBE where the sound files are that causes the SILENT only mode above.
Any helpers, welcome

Working XAndroid version THTC ouch pro

Hello All,
Does anyone have an working version of XAndroid working on HTC Touch Pro,that wifi, camera and gps works on? I downloaded 2.2.1 xr03 and no wifi,no camera,no gps. The 'look' looks great, I have to say. Also what is everyone getting on battery life that has used recent versions of XAndroid on HTC Touch Pro?
Thank You,
Barry
I'm using the XDANDROID version 2.2.1 (frx04) and wi-fi and gps work, but the camera doesen't work. If you want, you can whatch this site : h**p://xdandroid.com/wiki/Downloads
hackerino,
Thanks a bunch for the info. I updated my Touch Pro from (frx03) to (frx04) today but still cannot get wifi to work. This is the first time I have run a 'patch update'. It appeared to go correctly at bootup,,as I got the package icon thing. It took about 5 mins to update, then rebooted back into WinMO. Is this correct? reason I ask,is,in reading the update procedure it should do the update routine, then delete the actual update.zip file. My update.zip file is still in the andboot directory on my SD drive.
I have the PPC6850 HTC Touch Pro phone. Is this the same model TP you have? I am running WinMo 6.5 that is an almost one year old image, from here. I wonder if running WinMo 6.1 versus WinMo 6.5 can have any effect on initializing the devices for XDAndroid to hook into?
I am using the RAPH800 startup.txt file. using the RAPH startup.txt file my device hangs at 'reading sd card' at a certain point.
Thanks again,
Barry
I'm using the latest kernel package from the Autobuild site and I am staring at 5 wifi spots as we speak. Keeping in mind I have a Fuze/RAPH110 and I occasionally get the waiting on SD card message but it passes after a few seconds.
Link to the Autobuild site: CLICK HERE
In addition, I am using the system.ext2 partition for FRX04. I am not sure if it matters which one you use (the system.ext2 file or the OTA update) as long as the system.ext2 you are updating from is an original, unmodified signed system image.
Do leave us some feedback HERE, thanks!
n-Joie! (Enjoy)

A little direction...

Hello Everybody!
It's been 3 days I am reading different discussion and threads. There is so much that it confuses me. If any of you pros can just redirect me to the resource which will full my need then please help me.
I have HD2 (Leo, T-mobile). I want to install Android on it but I don't want to lose WM6.5. I have been reading about installing Android SD card which seems like the option to work but still I have confusions in that.
Can you just provide me some or anything where I can follow the procedure and get Android install with disturbing my WM...
Thank you
There are plenty of SD builds for the HD2. You'll find the HD2 SD Android forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735&order=desc
If you like stock Android and not HTC Sense, I had a lot of good times with this particular ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518. It hasn't been updated for a while because more and more people are running it from NAND these days.
I'd recommend checking to see whether it's completely compatible with the TMOUS version (some ROMs aren't). Also, check a few out before settling on the one you like most, don't just take my word for it
Good luck, and welcome to XDA
I installed SuperRAM_Froyo_v1 on SD and it was working smooth. The next day I installed AmeriCanAndroid and it was also working fine. I kept switching back to WinMo. Just now when I tried to run CLRCAD or HARET it just says "The file 'CLRCAD' cannot open, etc etc".
I tried deleting the files and pasting again but it's just not working. Anyone been through such an issue?

[Q] How to get Android on Touch Diamond P3700

Hello all you experts.... ;-)
I've spent days looking for a 'definitive' article on how to get Android OS onto a P3700 Touch Diamond, but of course, the more I read, the more confused I become.
Can anybody point me to a set of comprehensive instructions on how to do this?
This page seems to be the most informative, but it leaves many unanswered questions:
ghost301tech.wordpress.com/2010/01/29/how-to-run-android-in-htc-touch-diamond
Here are my questions:
1) How do I know which version of Android will work best on the P3700?
[I have tried 2.2.1 AOSP FRX03.21.11.10 Full, but when I executed the Haret.exe, it started (eventually) briefly then re-booted to Windows]
2) Is this page the best place from which to download XDAndroid? -
//files.xdandroidDOTcom
3) Is using Gen.y dual boot the best method from this Win Mobile 6.1 phone?
4) I have copied it (Gen.Y) to the phone's internal (not the 4GB storage) but it doesn't start.
5) There is mention of editing the registry on the phone to allow the boot utility to start, but I cannot see how to do this. Can anybody assist?
6) The 'Bible' page mentioned on this site no longer exists - is it located anywhere else now, or has it closed?
Thank-you for any help here.
How to get Android on Touch Diamond P3700
I guess all the experts have other interests now. Oh, well. My fault for being 2 years too late. :-(
LOL
I'm not an expert, and yes I have many doubts just like you. Maybe we can build a FAQ and ask for donations eeheh
I have tried two ways: XDAndroid, and the Cherry Pie v3 (CP3). XDAndroid works in LOOP mode (the filesystem is a file called system.ext2) and CP3 runs in a native ext2 partition created in the same place as the Internl Storage.
If your XDAndroid is giving troubles, do this:
1- delete data.img and try again
2- if the above didnt work, delete all xdandroid files and install arghhh's package: http://www.multiupload.com/XD023XA5AH I get it from here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6967724&postcount=3
cheers
Thanks iRiKi . I'll follow your advice. Cheers.
