Anyone get the notification yet?

There hasnt been any mention of this that I'm aware of other than the "end of the month" post on twitter.

I guarantee there will be a dump posted in development for you to flash before you get the ota.
Sent from my Infuse. It is what it isn't.

True. It will probably be flashable before it becomes ready. Any mention of anything so far?

def nothing yet. ive been hittin up the davis att store here in norcal everyday. and checking nearly every single blog and site i can find almost hourly. rofl. if its out trust me this site will be first to have it.
that said i feel it will be out sometime around the 28-29th. just seems if they said end of the month its safe to estimate the very last day.

Who cares, it will be out when it's out?.... Plus you can flash i9000 roms now....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App

If I want the most stable way of this update how would I go about it? I'm running just the rooted stock rom with infusion kernel. I'd like to remain as stock and stable as possible with just the addition of the kernel.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App

You might need to flash back completely to stock so you can get the update. If Not, im sure someone will have it to flash before it even gets totally released. You know how these leaks go.

i am wondering as kies does not work with infuse how can one manually update?
for ex. htc provided ota as well as through htc sync(manual update)

Pretty much only matters for those that want to crack 7.2 Mbps (I won't see this in my area for years so I don't mind) and use the HDMI output feature.

I hit 11.4 mbps down and 1.2 up a few times today. My phone runs on hsdpa. Im not sure if the gingerbread update would do anything to benefit that even more but i am running minimum of 5 down since activating the infuse from my wife yesterday and giving her my iphone 4.

stock froyo or infused?
i could not get the line"since activating".

I use stock that came with it. Froyo 2.2

not everybody is getting good speed with rogers based gingerbread.
One can expect good speed on gingerbread with ATT based firmware.

When i had the inspire and then the atrix, the highest i would get was 4 down and 1 up. I read that the infuse was set to run at a higher max speed and as soon as my wife swapped with me, i tested the theory and apparently it was true. I hope gingerbread gives more anyway though.

skype
correct me if I'm wrong, but the front camera will work in skype with the 2.3 upgrade?
So speed, better battery life - what are some other pluses to the upgrade can we look for (infuse-wise)?

the modded skype works with infused(tested to limited extent)
rest is also true.

If I do the OTA update will I lose root completely? Or anything at all? Never done OTA

Then you will likely not see any data speed improvements when AT&T Gingerbread comes out. You also have working HDMI.
The issue is that all of our current Gingerbread ROMs are based on Rogers firmware - they don't achieve HSPA+ speeds and are missing HDMI.

Most likely yes - but it'll be a matter of days before rooted system images and kernels that inject root become available.

Starting to worry it wont be this month

G2x GB update...

have a look *near* the bottom of:
www.lgforum.com/forum/boards/carrie...artphonegeek-dot-dot-dot-its-another-week-and
take the info with a grain of salt and for whatever it's worth. who really knows.
Ya there's already a thread about this
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
that it's 2.3.3 rather than 2.3.4?
and, that the info is coming from an lg source directly?
i've been on this forum all day and i've not seen that reported here.
sorry if i missed it.
Well you weren't to specific on what you were referencing

i referenced the specific info *near* the bottom of the thread. it was posted about an hour ago.
which thread on xda were you referring to?
I honestly don't care if it's 2.3.3 or 2.3.4, I just want them to release something with fixed drivers already so we can use them.
All the great developers here will upgrade their roms to 2.3.4 anyway, all we need are the bug fixes
useless rumors. back in april they said "coming soon", it's almost july
fyi
first it doesnt surprise me that they are releasing an outdated os again i mean they are only a million dollar company not big like cyanogen .
2nd is smartphonegeek although maybe hes trying to be helpful hasnt given us 1 bit of correct info yet. so although this is probably true im putting no faith in anything he says anymore unfortunately.
We all knew it was 2.3.3 to begin with. No surprises there.
Plus 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 aren't that different. I run CM7 which has 2.3.4 and honestly it is just a number.
I think the only phones running 2.3.4 are the Nexus Phones. The Sensation, Galaxy S2, and G2x will all be at 2.3.3
Although I did see an unofficial 2.3.4 update for the Samsung Galaxy S, it is nothing official.
Lets just hope that this LG update doesn't count GB for future upgrades, as most manufactures will provide at least a few upgrades to the OS. I'd be happy with an official 2.4 Ice Cream update though.
The sensation runs 2.3.3
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
A question
If I have already installed the leaked 2.3.3 when the ota rolls out will it download that for me since I"m already showing 2.3.3 on my settings or will I have to use Nandroid , reset to original and then get the update?
2.3.4 have two major changes:
1. video support on Gtalk
2. IPv6 support
As long as the changes would take care of the rebooting and battery issues. Last night I unplugged at 100%, went to sleep and this morning battery was dead
I"m just ready for the darn update to get this thing running as it should. and since I"m not a T-Mo customer I cant return it to T-Mo.

either that or keep your phone rooted and wait for someone to compile a stock/rooted version that you can install. it usually only takes one of those guys a few hours after they get the release... thats the way I did it with my N1 after I rooted it.

Because the leaked GB update is horrible. Of all the roms in this forum, THAT unofficial GB leak was the worst. Ever 4 hours the phone would be found turned off in my pocket. It would die on a charger.
If you want a working phone, get that crap off of there. Even EaglesBlood version based on the leak caused me the same issues.
Flash Eaglesblood Froyo edition or CM7.1 RC1. I'd say those are your two best options right now.

Any timeline on the official Gingerbread update

Just wanted to know if anyone had any insight on when the official Gingerbread update should be arriving? I hear different things all over the net but no one knows for sure. Will it still use the rfs file system or will that finally be changed.

i have no clue on an ota time frame, but i can all but guarantee the official builds will always be rfs
an oem/carrier would be unlikely at best to change filesystems ota as it would just increase the chance of bricks and new phones having to be sent out (ota's have enough issues anyway)
the og galaxy s line and refreshes (charge, sgs4g, infuse 4g) are all rfs til the end
the sgs2 however is not, thankfully
Well, good to know. I really want the SGS2 but ended up getting this so I could get the unlimited data plan. The new ones are obviously a rip off. So rooted ee4 it is for now... When the hell is the sgs2 coming stateside anyway. I feel played on every article I read about how great it is and the US still does not have it

I did the exact same thing and I'm still wondering the exact same thing. Looks like Verizon is set to release the Bionic next, so the SGS2 might not arrive until late August. Doesn't matter to me now, since I'm locked in for two years... again.
that sucks
by the time we see the SGS2, there will be leaks of Nvidia Kal-El and other quad-core super/ultra phones.

Yep. But the same thing will happen as now...we'll either have to get a dual core phone or wait FOREVER for a quad core (kinda like the wait for the bionic...UGH)...but at least we can just grandfather our unlimited plans!

I'd estimate a 3 month wait time from when the leak was released. I forget the name of the phone but there was a GB leak of it and 3 months after that was leaked they saw official GB.

I know we just got 2.3.3 but I'm just wandering why they getting an update so fast and who knows when we will get another one

Probably never, there are rumors of the g2x getting ICS 4.0 sometime, although that is highly unlikely. You can try out CM7 for 2.3.5.
What he said
LG and T-Mobile won't come out with any updates. LG releasing the source code, they abandoned support.
XDA is only reason this phone gets any kind of love and support.
There is hardly anything noticeable between 2.3.3, 2.3.4, and 2.3.5.
If you want a newer version, do a custom rom. I can't understand why people, on XDA especially, fight so hard to stay on a stock rom that is old and lacking. My neighbor bought a G2x the other day and I NVFlashed his phone in like 4 minutes (mostly due to downloading and finding the XDA thread for the NVFlasher).
Gingerbread is available in a plethera of roms for our device. I'd much rather LG focus their efforts on a timely ICS release.
I just wish nvidia would release drivers. I would love a2dp on the newer roms

I hope we don't get 2.3.4 or 2.3.6 if that comes. I want LG to just focus on getting out 2.4 as near as available as possible. All the learning from vanilla with driver fixes should make 2.4 a snap.
At this point nothing about 2.3 any variants makes any difference after 2.3.3
The G2X vanilla should easily be able to handle Android 4, or 2.4 whatever its named sandwich. The hardware is spec. And should be able to get onto the next version after Ice Cream, at that time it will be like a basic model that can still easily support.
I am expecting 2 more full releases on the phone, as the cost for LG to do, with the drivers worked out, should be very minimal.
Worse case, LG can license a custom ROM, and toss that out for a couple hundred K. 2 man years cost.

It is nice to see you post something other than the CAL... if you really think LG is gonna release anything other than maybe a small updae which i also doubt. maybe youll join with the CAL.. This is it even LG has said they dont even plan on bringing out the camera appp which i thought they would at least do.
As burk said no proof either way. But history means a lot and sicne this debacle i have looked at lg and see this has been nothing new with them. and Updates have been only carrier pushed for bugs from what i have read.
Yes it would be nice to see something new and great for the phone from LG but dont hold your breath.
hmmm
I would rather LG focus on getting all the bugs fix with this phone rather than releaseing a new os version for it plauged with the same issues and froyo and gingerbread

Wouldn't actually work since gtalk works using NEON which our processors don't have. I haven't tried the alternatives (like vtalk our vtok, something like that) but they don't apparently work well. google has to fix it unless there's been a development I missed.

After the fiasco of 2.3.3, LG is never going to touch this phone ever again. It's dead in the water for all they care, and Tmo isn't going to pressure them into updating because they're focused on pimping the Sensation right now.
CyanogenMod is the only way this phone will ever see ICS, I would put money on that.

need quick answers on ROM, kernel and few others

OK so background story:
I ordered a i9100 from clove and the screen is defective. I don't have time to send it back and wait for a new one. So someone is buying this one (buyer knows about screen). Anyway
Looking for a good kernel and a good clean, stable, fast ROM. Over locking ability would be nice but if not I need to remove that BS bloat ware and tethering without AT&T knowing. That's why I like the international version.
Is the SR getting any love from the dev community in regards to CM9?
I usually search for a few days but need to know fast because I'm getting this phone or regular S2.
Side note: Hawaii should be getting LTE early 2012.

No ICS for Droid Charge

Looks like Verizon screws us again.
http://news.verizonwireless.com/news/2012/03/bl2012-03-06.html
Especially frustrating considering the Thunderbolt and the Incredible 2 came out BEFORE the Charge.
Feel free to email the guy who posted that bit of FU from Verizon and let him know how this sits with you.
Wow not even the Droid 3 is getting ICS, and that launched with gingerbread.
Same with LG revolution

I didn't research all these phones to find out but...
Do they all have more ram than 512MB? That might be the limitation for the charge.
Edit: I researched the devices. They all have at least 768MB ram. That's probably why the Droid 3 isn't getting it either.

The issue is more likely to be not enough space on /system for all the crap VZW wants to add in. The Nexus S has 512MB of RAM and it runs ICS just fine.

I agree with all you started above till the last sentence.
Correct me if I'm wrong-
I've seen the update came out for Nexus S, was retracted and now owners are still waiting for the official release. A debloated ROM will probably run just fine on Charge, which you touched on in your previous post. That being said "Officially" I don't believe the charge will see ICS. I'm sure with your help along with JT and others, we will have it.

In regards to Verizon's upgrade list here; even though it isn't complete, I think it is ridiculous that carriers aren't more worried about getting their phones upgraded. I recognize that the manufacturers do the development, but you'd think that the carriers would try to light a fire under their ass.
Furthermore, I am rather upset that Verizon hasn't said anything about getting an HTC One phone.

Man I would love to be that optimistic. Unfortunately, I would bet cash money that even if they were to eventually upgrade the Charge to ICS, it wouldn't be until 4Q 2012 or later. In fact, I would be downright shocked if any of the phones they listed get ICS before 3Q.
By then, Jelly Bean will be just around the corner and ICS won't be enough anyway
Hope the stratosphere gets ics to =/
