Inverted touchpad in 3.2? How?!? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, for some reason, despite the fact that I have updated to 3.2 and the dock is EP101-0209, when I try to scroll using the touchpad using 2 fingers, the motions are still inverted.
So when I scroll up the page goes down and when I scroll down the page goes up.
Did anyone get this? I thought with 3.2 the inverted touchpad was fixed.
If it helps, I do have the Canadian version keyboard, labeled CBIL (Canadian Bi-lingual) with shortened shift and enter keys.
Also, I am not sure why the picture is so big, can anyone tell me how to post a picture thats resized to fit the screen? Much Thanks

3.2 causes the reverse scrolling. The 0816 patch looks to regress the change. If you've not had the latest OTA then you'll see the reversed scrolling.

Even after the OTA, you have to switch the cursor style in Input Settings to make it switch to normal scrolling.

I dont seem to have the option to change cursor style under input settings, where do you see that?

You probably haven't received the latest OTA yet. It's due to start rolling out in North America tomorrow I believe.

Awesome, it reverts the inverted scroll with this patch too, eh? That's great news.

As long as you switch pointer style to Pointer. Tested and working on Prime 1.8.1 beta.

Macbooks have the same scrolling thing too. I guess they r trying to mimic touchscreens, but still it seems counterintuitive at first but after a while ull get used to it

Yeah, but then you kind of expect that with Apple. They love to force their customers to hammer square pegs through round holes. (One-button mouse, anybody?)

Landscape keyboard?

Hi everyone!
I stopped using the dodgy default keyboard and switched to the HTC keyboard. Wow, it's a whole new phone now! One question though, I use IM a lot (ebuddy, msntalk and msndroid) and everytime I go to the landscape keyboard, it fills up the whole screen so I cannot see what someone has just said while I'm typing. Is there anyway to stop the landscape keyboard from filling up the whole screen (similar to the iPhone)?
Thanks!

Use Better keyboard with custom skins keyboard sizes its accurate and fast and doesn't use the whole screen cost as little a couple of dollars with load of additional skins to install too for free.
Doesn't quite work. When I go into landscape mode on ebuddy the keyboard and textbox still cover the whole screen. Is there a setting to remove the textbox so I can see what is going on in the app?
I need something like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As opposed to this:
Thanks

If you use htc_ime by jonasl then you can go into Setting -> User interface -> No landscape fullscreen
Just check that box and you will get what you want
I use v27 of jonasl htc_ime_hires

Request: Droid X style text edit

Hi all, I just came from iPhone and am really missing the magnifiying glass that pops up when i want to move my text edit cursor between letters. I noticed the Droid X has this feature as well (in fact seems to work better than the iphone's).
My big thumbs can not tap accurately enough between letters, and I do not like the stock Sense kb (I'm using the Gingerbread kb).
Could anyone hook me up with this magnifying glass/cursor movement? I would be very appreciative.
I have fat fingers, too.
You know the GB keyboard you're using already has a helpful feature for this, right? It doesn't magnify anything, but those big text selector tabs just might be the best part of the GB update, lol.

hmmm i am not sure what you are talking about... The only way I know of to move is by tapping, but it is far too inaccurate.
The Gingebread keyboard has big tabs for text selection and moving the cursor. Here's an example:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

Oh, Whoa!
Which Gingerbread kb are you using?? That looks sweet and I am pretty sure the one I've got does not have that function. Or if it does, I'm a fool and haven't figured out how to use it....
(I'm stock ROM with an "ruKeyboard 2.0 r19" apk)

the ones i have tried dont have it either. I did go to bestbuy and tried the nexus 2 and it had it and works great.
it isn't a feature of the gingerbread keyboard ports to 2.2, it is only available in the actual 2.3 system.
Sense at least has it in their browser.
I had the very same situation, came from iphone and was frustrated by this. Swype actually has a great text selection setup, just swype from the swype button to the sym button.

Thanks for the clarification.
Even more frustrating is that my buddy's Droid X has a similar function.
Nonetheless, one week into my EVO and loving it.

Thumb Keyboard 4.0 Beta (Amazing TF Keyboard)

If you haven't tried Thumb Keyboard yet, give the free 4.0 Beta a try. It has changed my TF experience for the better in a huge way. Link here.
The Beta lasts for another week, and I'll buy the full release without hesitation.

It comes with custom skins but you can also find and install customs.
I've been trying the betas for quite a while and agree its the best one around. As long as you turn off predictive text, it doesnt lag at all. It's only getting better with updates. Will purchase it too if it ever comes out.
I purchased v3 not so long ago (but before the beta came out).. am I gonna get stiffed and have to buy v4 all over again when that eventually launches? I know its only a few quid but it'll be a pain if I do..

is there a thumb typing lesson that i can do online. this is great and convenient but unless you're trained to do it, it can slow you down even more.
Thanks! This really made typing a lot easier while holding the device.

The cursor keys work on ssh terminal programs like connectbot, but the tab key does not.
it's a beta, let them know and hopefully it's something that can be fixed before the final release.

I had to reboot to get it to show up on mine.
I cannot figure out how to change the buttons....I picked large buttons and now I want to change it to small ones and see the difference...it said that you can change but did not say where to do that. I looked in settings and could not see where to change it.

Thanks for pointing this out. Absolutely brilliant - have to say one of the best features is the option to instantly switch between split layout, full screen and half screen keyboard. Plus, none of the lag or missed keypresses, even with prediction on...

It was pronounced to be an rotation lock switch, but it didn't make it into the final product. Don't know why though, for me it would come quite handy sometimes...

Probably because the initial design was to include Gingerbread but now Honeycomb has been chosen which already has a software screen lock

All android versions (at least 2.1+, not sure about earlier versions) have software screenlock in settings-> display. But a hardware button is more universal to use, no matter whats on your screen right now.

+1.. tap the time in honeycomb, and then Settings on the little tray pop-up. one of the options in the bigger list is to lock the screen orientation

Simple question, I've tried to install the apk normally and also place it in the /system/app folder with executable rights...no go.

Since I don't use gesture typing of any sort, the new keyboard simply brings a better UI (to me anyway) compared to the other stock keyboards. The ONLY gripe I would have is that there is no separation between keys, meaning it looks like one flat pad with letters and no lines. Looks/works beautifully though.

It's the exact same keyboard, it just adds an extra "theme" in Google Keyboard settings > Advanced > Color Scheme, named "Material". Choose that one.
