Anyone else having issues with wifi calling? Initially people were complaining they could not hear me or constantly telling me to repeat myself. I left myself a voicemail on my work phone and was surprised how low the volume was. It's as if the mic gain was turned all the way down. I had to turn the volume to maximum just to makeout what I was saying. Additionally, the earpiece volume is also a tad low on my end. I'm assuming it's safe to say there is nothing I can do till Tmobile updates the phone, right?

I just did a test on wifi calling to my voicemail at home and the volume was fine, sounded like a normal call. There was another voicemail on there as well from someone else and it was the same volume as theirs.

Hmmm...weird. I have no issues with mic volume during regular cellular calls and Skype calls (tested these two by leaving myself voicemails also).
I will call technical support and see what they have to say.
Thanks for the reply Robertsonland
I haven't had any issues (I had latency and sound issues on my Samsung Vibrant and Blackberry Curve before that using UMA) on my Sensation using Wifi calling yet. I used my friends phone while making a wifi call to it, and there was no delay at all, and the sound is great.
Bump. No one else is having low mic outgoing volume issues with wifi calling?

Constant. Wifi Calling is unpredictable. I have no network reception and the phone struggles to keep on wifi calling. I have tried most available roms all the patches and three devices. WIFI Calling is unreliable while using the phone. It works fine when left alone 90% of the time. However those times you pick up the phone and it doesn't show Wifi Calling, or it just then kicks in; you are catching it in its moment of sudden tmobile retardation. And i have tried it will all sorts of access points, obsessed over dd-wrt settings for weeks. Even ended up bricking a couple devices (JTAG ftw).
S-OFF Sensation LeeDroid 1.2 1.3 TMO-US Wifi Calling v1.0
If it's going in and out of WiFi calling like that it's the Sensation's WiFi reception causing the issues.
Do you put your hand over the top part of the phone when you're on a call?
My friends complain that they can hear themselves. Like an echo effect.

Happens all the time with me and my wife...to the point that I don't use wifi calling anymore. It is certainly a problem.
echoing on speakerphone has happened to me, solution.. don't use speakerphone.
Well I'm glad I found this thread because I am having the exact same issue and was going to return my Sensation. I have no regular cell signal in my house so I have to rely on the Wifi calling and it sucks from time to time. I have to repeat myself and sometimes the other person can't hear me even if I'm yelling in the handset. So from what I've been reading, it sounds like this is a normal (abnormal) wifi calling issue with Tmobile. That sucks!!! Is there any fix or possible bandaid for this problem?
Does this only happen with the Sensation or are others having this problem with other phones?
Bumb
Anyone have found a solution to this issue ?

I have the same issue sometimes too, If i try to turn on speaker phone the mic cuts off all together. Using Revolution HD
You know .
I truly do not believe its a reception ( wifi reception or anything ) .
I ran packet capture and it all look`s "ok" no drops or resets .
This thing looks like a poor VOIP decryption , either on the phone or the Tmobile servers.
IT IS a software issue . And defenitly need to be attended to .
what i did notice that i have a sensation and so do my wife .
I get the issue she doesn't .
The difference i rooted my machine ( still uses original ROM i have a trust issue regarding running some unverified kernel`s ) .
Any thoughts ?
I have called Tmobile about the issue. The tech I talked to said there were no other reports of low mic volume. My mic volume works perfect when using Skype or SIP. But when on Wifi calling, the mic gain is way too low. I have left myself test voicemails, and I have to have the volume cranked all the way up to hear myself. Hopefully the issue will be resolved with the next software release.
Man that sucks .
This Wifi calling is cool and i like it , but if it doesnt work whats the point .
Any way to contact the development team of this product ?
Calling and talking to some dude in India at Tier I do not help here...
I have used several custom ROMs and Kernels and have had no issue with sound volume or quality using the WiFi calling app. It may be a simple hardware difference during manufacturing. Just as some people's phones work flawless while OC'd and others crash even though they all have the same model CPU. I would try to get a replacement phone to see if it works better.
I actually have another 2 new phones next to me .
Any way to clone my OS (including the config and everything ) to the other phone ?
Then i can move my SD and SIM .
We switched from T-Mobile to ATT and got 2 Inspire 4g's and one Infuse.
Now my wife is hating her Inspire because she says the call quality is terrible. She can barely understand the person she is talking to, and if she turns the volume up it gets worse and worse.
She does not think it is the ATT network because it happens no matter where she is, and is not sudden or sporadic. She says it is every call all the time.
Any ideas before we take the 2 Inspires back?
You have a couple of options. The first would be to divorce her. (Just kidding.) The call quality is good on these phones. It is possible that you may have received a defective unit. The second option would be to exchange the phone for another and check the quality on the second unit, which is what I would recommend you try. It should not be happening on every call. There is nothing you could really try until you root your phone and test different fixes, but you should not need anything right now on a phone you have not changed yet.
I am in agreeance with the above poster, it sounds like you may have a defective handset, in all likelihood you should be able to exchange it, sooner than later and see if it works better. The other issue could be your area just has horrendous service for AT&T as that can happen as well.
Thanks guys, I agree we need to exchange it sooner than later, I am just worried because both Inspires we have have the same issue. I dont think it is the service because my Infuse is fine, and we have an iPhone 3gs that is fine in the same areas.
If both Inspires have the same issue it is possible they may have come from a bad batch. It is known to have very good call quality, and on certain roms you just have to apply a patch to fix sound issues. Normally, HTC build quality surpasses Samsung build quality. It may be worth it to go to a different store and try an exchange there to see how that goes. If your Infuse is working well, so should the Inspires.

Well just because my son really likes his Inspire I went ahead and rooted his and installed the Android Revolution HD ROM. Here is what I tested/noticed:
With the downgraded ROM that is installed during the Rooting process the problem remains, and I was unable to use wifi. It would connect to the wifi, but could not browse the internet.
Once I installed Android Revolution HD I could connect and wifi was fine, but the phone signal was weak. So I installed the linked radio from the first page of the ROM and it went back to a strong signal, but not really any different than stock.
I am convinced that the issue is the radio, not the physical device, so I think I just need to find the right one.
If you are using the M2 radio that is recommended for the AR rom, then you should already have the correct Ril files that match that radio because they are included in the rom. The downgrade rom that is used during rooting needs to have a newer radio flashed in order to get it working. If you are getting any kind of tinny audio quality then there is a patch in the first post that fixes sound quality issues that a lot of people get. These patches are used for most of the European based DHD roms.

I have owned many AT&T phones, and the Inspire has one of the best sounding calls I have ever had. I would agree that it is probably a bad batch of phones, or something damaged the phones when they were shipped to the store. I have rooted/M2 Radio, and am running LeeDrOiD. This is by far the best phone I have owned. I am sorry that your wife is having issues, but i would definately try exchanging it for another Inspire before giving up.
i have no problems with call quality except for speaker
when i put phone on speaker the other end could never hear me
i would suggest putting ur sons phone back to stock, and taking them both to ATT and reproduce the issue for one of the reps and say see listen the phone sounds like total crap please fix this and have them replace both phones. do not leave the store until both of ur phones are working correctly
I recently got my MyTouch4g Slide. I used Revolutionary tool to S-OFF the device, and all was well.
After a day of usage, I began using the Bluetooth hands free in my 2010 Chevy Equinox. The connection synchronizes, no problem. All the hands free buttons work, and everything appears functional. However -- I have no audio, either mic. or speakers, from the bluetooth. I have to activate the handset to have a conversation, rendering the bluetooth useless.
Before I reached out to anyone, I performed the RUU installation from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178082. It reverted my hboot, system, etc back to stock. However -- it is still S-OFF. So how do we get S-ON back on this phone?
Regarding the bluetooth -- I began escalating to Tmobile and GM. GM said there's nothing wrong with my Bluetooth (it works with all my previous 3 phones OK). Tmobile says this is not a known issue.
I called HTC support, and they said it sounds like a phone hardware issue with the phone.
I would like to know two things, which I cannot find searching the MT4G Slide forums:
* How can S-ON be restored? (I thought the RUU would handle this). I want to know in case I have to send it back to HTC.
* Has anyone had these bluetooth problems, before I send it in for a replacement?
Thanks!
I just got my 4G Slide yesterday, and haven't yet paired it with my '10 Equinox.
I'll do that tomorrow and let you know if it works or not.
I haven't had any issues with bluetooth on my JVC deck, but there is no problem sending back an S-OFF'd device, I've sent back several with no issues. Some devices are factory S-OFF, plus they never check returns.
Thank you both for the feedback.
jonnycat26, Please let me know what happens when you pair with your '10 Equinox. It's great to have someone with the same device and car make to test, to confirm if it is in fact my device.
I was able to successfully make a call without any issues. Or at least, I had audio when I did (call went to VM, and I did not leave a message).

jonnycat26,
You were able to hear audio and use the mic in your 2010 Equinox?
I guess this confirms I have a hardware issue. Sucks.
Thanks again!
Seeing as the Bluetooth worked for you & GM believes it's a phone defect, I am getting a replacement from Tmobile.
I know you already said you are getting a replacement, and for as expensive as this piece of hardware is - I wouldn't do anything different.
Figured i'd chime in though, have no issues pairing and using my bluetooth headset. Lets me do voice and listen through the headset.
My hands free (genius) mode works, though I don't use it.
I have a bluetooth game controller coming, somewhere in the mail. I know that's a whole other animal with it's own set of issues, but i'll let you know how that goes.
Thanks for posting about this, though, and it's lucky you found someone with the same stuff to test and compare. Bluetooth is going to be the next focus of my attention, I think, so i'm soaking up everything I hear about it now.
If anyone has found a way to make it S-ON, i'd love to know just to know, but it shouldn't be a problem with warranty issues if it was S-OFF.
The worst part of this for me is I have only had this phone since Friday. Further, it was a replacement for a faulty LG G2X, which I had RMA'd three times, and was about to cancel my service before they finally offered me a different phone.
So this will make my fourth return to Tmobile (three G2x, now a MT4G Slide) in the past three weeks. I have also spent about 30hours on the phone with them in the past three weeks.
I am truly exhausted dealing with this, but I really like this phone (the G2X sucked). So I am giving it one more shot.
They are sending me a new phone again, and not a refurb, so that's nice.
It's worth it.
I'm on my second one, I returned my first one. They took it back without hesitation, so even if you have to go through one or two at the beginning it's worth it.
You have the first few days after you get it, to exchange a defect for a working model. With this phone, it's absolutely worth it. Too expensive to walk around with a damaged one - especially from the door.
Your patience will be rewarded with an awesome piece of tech in your hands, it's amazing what you can do with this device.

Weird, I have a JVC KW-NT1 that worked AWESOME with my TouchPro2 but this MT4GS has a bunch of static issues which pisses off my callers...does anyone know of a fix or a BT radio software update perhaps? It sucks that the phone is LIGHTYEARS ahead of my ancient TP2 but the BT might make me return it

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been posted but I could not find any using the search although I came close.
I bought a 2nd hand Telstra HOXL using an Optus sim on fleabay and it is basically brand new. I've had it for almost a week and everything has been working fine except that I dont actually use it for calls that often. So last night I get a call and the person on the other end couldn't hear me so I figured they were in a bad reception area. Similar thing happened today and it felt strange so I called myself and all i could hear was a loud buzzing sound every time I spoke into the mic. When i turn on speaker phone, it actually works properly. Obviously it's a bit pointless if I can make a call without being on speakerphone. The strange thing is, I definitely had a successful call when i first got the phone but it required a few attempts before we could hear each other and I was told by the caller that all they could hear was the buzzing noise. Why it would suddenly work after a few attempts and then never again is beyond me.
Things I've tried:
- Performing the Audio Test. It failed because I could not record anything. I confirmed this by trying the voice recorder and it didn't work - just buzzing.
- I tried factory reset without success
- Finally I jumped onto the online support and they told me there is only 1 mic so it sounds like a software problem.
Has anyone experienced the same thing? I can't exactly take it for repairs cos the Ebayer has gone MIA even though they promised to provide proof of purchase. Hopefully they aren't dodgy cos they even refunded the postage difference. So now i'm stuck with a potential lemon and a few hundred bucks poorer.
Thanks.
I probably can't help you, but I suggest making more tests and post here, hopefully somebody had a similar problem and can help:
- try over headphones
- try over Bluetooth headsetor in car handsfree
- try a call over Skype or yahoo messenger (on wifi) to make sure isn't the network
Post results here. You'll probably end up with a custom rom, but not sure.

Thanks. It's definitely not the network because I put my sim back into my old trusty Desire and it works fine. I'll give the headphones / bluetooth a crack later and I have a feeling they will work.
UPDATE - Tried it with headphones on and it works. I read on another forum that some people believed it had something to do with removing the headphones from the jack which caused the propblem. I happen to use my headphones a fair bit and I'm thinking maybe it's "confused" itself somehow. Some people have tried clearing the cache but I'm not sure how to do that on the XL.

I got my Pixel 3 unlocked from Google a couple of days ago. I really love the phone, but oddly, every time that I call my wife and I'm on speaker, it always takes 8-10 seconds for her to be able to hear me. This happens with no one else, as I've called multiple people on speaker. Google offered to RMA the device, but I'm not convinced that it's a hardware issue. If it's a software issue that will likely be fixed in the future, I will just keep this one. I'm not entirely sure what to make of it, but I don't really want to go through the RMA process just for it to continue happening. Has anyone else had similar experiences? From what I can see on Reddit and elsewhere, it appears to be a rather commonplace issue. I just can't justify waiting for another device to solve a wide spread problem. If it was a fluke issue, then a factory replacement wouldn't make me nervous. I think that I am just going to return the device for a full refund and wait for something else to come out. Sucks though, because I otherwise loved this phone.
I have noticed this as well. I try to talk over the speaker and the person on the other end can't hear me for a little bit. I might try to RMA the phone. How'd you go about talked to Google Support about the issue? A phone call, chat or email?

I was using the chat service, it worked fine. I haven't RMA'd the device. I went and got a new SIM card from AT&T and it seems better. I did tons of test calls to other people on different carriers and it only ever happened with my wife, who is in Verizon. For that reason, I don't think there is a hardware issue with my device, but I don't know what it might be.

I figured it out while I was messing with it yesterday. Turn off HD voice. "enhanced LTE" in the network settings menu and that fixes it. I am on AT&T and had great connectivity with same carrier subscribers, Sprint, and others. I tried calling multiple friends with Verizon and had the issue every time. So I just turned it off.
Update: it looks like December update fix my issue. Will update again if something happen
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This speakerphone issue is happening to me using TMobile and also using Whatsapp calls.
I noticed this issue because the phone is also not connecting to my Honda Civic 2016 Bluetooth and tried using the speakers.
I'll wait for December 2018 update and make lot of test before I contact Google.
I'm using the regular Pixel 3 white.
I have the same issue,,,when I first get a call and answer it with speakerphone no one can hear me for a few seconds then if I toggle speaker off then back on it works okay??

Doesn't this remove the ability to use group chats?
I got my wife the Pixel 3 at launch and we're on the 3rd phone because of this issue and it's still happening. It only happens on speakerphone (not regular) and her speakers seem to be fine which makes me think it's software and not hardware.

I am wondering if anyone has tried turning off the wifi calling option? I havent tried that yet as it is the only thing I havent tried to see if my phone doesnt have problems when first answering a call with the phones speakerphone and people on the other end not being able to hear me for the first few seconds? I saw in a Google thread that there may be a problem with the handoff of wifi to actual LTE calling and it makes it difficult for the phones speaker to know where to apply the sound to? I dont have a sim in my phone currently so I am wondering anyone else tried this to see?

My wife has this issue with her new Pixel 3 - oddly not when calling me (I have an S8) but when calling 3 other confirmed people (who [co-incidentally] all have iphones?). Even talking to them over handset first which is obviously fine, when she switches to speaker mid-call they can't hear her.
We tried this but she still has the issue.
