So I have had a Nook color for a few months and it's defective... I have Barnes and Nobles shipping me a new one and now I find myself with a dilemma.
At this point I will have a new Nook Color that I can either sell for retail and then buy a new Gtablet or keep it and keep using it until the Xoom comes down in price.
The problem is that looking at the forums it looks like the gtablet isn't exactly as fail-proof as far as the Nook Color is. And I personally like to constantly test the limits of my electronics.
So do I keep the beautiful screened, slower nook color or do I get the not as nice lcd, tablet that is two times faster?
I think the screen on the gtab gets a bad rap. Yeah the viewing angles are not good, but I can count on 2 fingers the number of times I've wanted to view the screen together with someone else. when the tablet is positioned properly in front of me it looks fine. This tablet does everything I need it too and then some... Plus the battery life is stellar.
So my vote would be for the gtab, but I'm biased.

Not sure why you say the G-Tablet isn't as fail proof? If you take the time to read some threads here you'll see the G-Tablet is just about un-brickable. I own both devices and I prefer the G-Tablet even with the diminished viewing angles. The Nook is a cool device, my wife loves hers, it's just not powerful enough for my taste. Thanks to the hard work of the developers here at XDA the G-Tablet rocks.

Oh awesome! =) I read a few, guess I just read the wrong ones lol. Doesn't help that I don't quite know the lingo and roms yet for this tablet. Definitely thinking about getting it.
If you like the screen of the nook then wait for another device. I sold the Gtab because of the screen and got a Nook. The screen is horrible in comparison. There are IPS tablets coming soon.

I own both devices. Unless you have a compelling need for a 10" tablet (ie: it's hard to read the Nook), then I recommend you keep the nook, ROM it with Phiremod or another CM7 version and wait until the new larger tablets come out.
I love my G-Tablet, but it soon will be very very outclassed by other devices. Asus EEEpad, for instance.
For the price g tablet is a damn good tablet
Screen or speed?
Got both. Love them both for different reasons.
NC really has a nice screen with good viewing angles. 7" sometimes is just right as well. When you OC it, it does perform pretty well also.
Gtab's just a pure speed demon. Despite a few annoyances (viewing angle from the bottom, lack of accessories, etc) it really works very well once you install a custom ROM. I'm currently using Vegan-GB. For games, it really makes a difference compared to NC.

Same as above. Love the Nook Color because of portability, love the Gtab because I can keep it on the end table and it is always in reach. Both have their goods/bads and have their respective places in my Android Arsenal. LOL
My opinion:
You own a Nook already. Keep it and wait for the next gen of Tablets. If it was purely a "should I buy a Nook or a Gtab" I'd say buy the GTab.
The screen is *NOT* as bad as everyone loves to say it is and it's certainly significantly larger than the Nook.

I'm not so thrilled about the eeepad. For one thing, it will be designed like a netbook. I really have a bad feeling about it.

I'm more interested in the Transformer (minus the laptop dock thiny). It looks like the price is going to be closer to what everyone else is charging, rather than their initial pricing of $399 though.
And Samsung comes in for the win (FTW). 8.9 and 10.1 in tabs, $469/$499 respectively, most likely IPS screens. Unknown yet, but assumed to be Tegra 2, with Honeycomb.
I'm still happy with my $350 purchase, but it's nice to see someone competing with Apple finally (and making life difficult for Motorola, as I hate them)
i have a nook color and a gtab and if i had to choose between them i would pick the gtab every time but thats just my opinion
I'm looking to get a Android tablet and my only choices really are the Xoom or the as yet unreleased Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1v. I was wondering what was the general consensus, is it better to wait for the Galaxy Tab 10.1v or get a Xoom now. Obviously the choice is personal etc. however if I got the Tab it would be the UK version not the new updated version and the reason why this bothers me is I like to root and mess about etc. Which is why I'm asking here, I have a Nexus S and so I am drawn to the Xoom because its another 'flagship' device for android and as with the Nexus S I imagine there is a lot of developers behind it - this is a major plus for me between the Tab 10.1v and Xoom. Which is why if there are different versions of the Tab this would slow/hamper development plus as its not the flagship device future software updates don't seem as certain as they do for the Xoom. I know the general specs - the Xoom being slightly heavier and thicker buts its mainly the software and development which concerns me. I know this sounds vague but to me it seems that the Xoom is the logical choice development wise but every time I look at the Galaxy Tab 10.1v and read about a small niggle with the Xoom, such as the lock button, it makes me wonder and hesitate.
Secondly, I'm currently travelling through Malaysia, Singapore and then onto Oz and Nz. I was thinking of getting the WiFi only Xoom in Kuala Lumpur as the prices I have seen are cheaper than in the UK, I was just wondering this wouldn't be a problem - as in its not a different version as compared to a UK WiFi only Xoom. (Also if anyone knows KL well, where is the easiest Courts store to get to from a tourists point of view to get a Xoom?)
Thank you in advance!
P.S. how do you say Xoom? Is it like xhume or just zoom?
A shameless bump, one of the 40 odd views must own the Xoom and/or have an opinion.
Thank you!
The trouble is that few people have experience at this point with multiple Honeycomb tablets.
If you are basing your decision solely on the issue that the Xoom is a "flagship" product remember that Google is fickle, and have already stated that the Honeycomb tablet variant of Android is basically a deadend. If they are serious about Ice Cream Sandwich being one version for all devices, there may not be a second wave of Honeycomb tablets and certainly not a third. As far as official Honeycomb versions, 3.1 may well be the last. In that case, there will be a new flagship tablet by the end of the year, one designed around Ice Cream Sandwich.
However, its current flagship status likely means that the Xoom DOES have a better chance for an official ICS upgrade then some other tablets being released now.
I completely agree with you that the real rival to the Xoom on the Honeycomb field is the Samsung Tab 10.1. Both the Asus Transformer and Acer Aconia fell behind in my opinion on build quality and physical quirks (which is consistent with my experiences with both Asus and Acer...too many corners cut and compromises made). The Transformer does have a price edge, but I got the impression that, like me, you are not looking for the budget model, but the best model. Both the Xoom and the Tab series also have active modding communities, which don;t really exist (at least not yet) for the Transformer and the Aconia.
So how do the front runners measure up? Well, the Samsung Tab 10.1 appears from the specs and reports to have a slightly better screen than the Xoom, and this makes sense as my Galaxy S i9000's AMOLED is the best screen I have ever had on a mobile device, bar none. Since Samsung's bread and butter products are screens and NAND, this makes sense.
However, Motorola has always succeeded (or failed) mainly on overall design, and this is where I feel the Xoom shines over the Samsung Tab (I have worked with a Tab 7 inch and the form factor of the 10.1 seems to be identical, just bigger). The Tab felt wrong in my hands, somehow awkward and angular. The Xoom, on the other had, has a very substantial yet organic feeling to it. I enjoy holding it and carrying it. The design and the attention to detail of the Xoom simply works for me. For example, the fact that the power button is on the back and slightly recessed, which some users hate, is a case in point. It feels natural that it is there to me, and I really like the fact that it is out of the way. The build quality overall is truly excellent, it feels like a luxury device where the Tab felt to me far more functional.
I am sure they are both excellent devices, and I may pick up one of the Tab 10.1 devices to tinker with the hardware and out of some newfound loyalty to Samsung...however for now the Xoom is my mobile office of choice. If you were able to handle both, side by side for a little while, I have a feeling you would agree.
And as far as I know, it is pronounced Zoom...at least that is how I say it. As the word looks more like Klingon than English, I could of course be wrong.
Thank you for the very helpful reply! Yes another worry is Ice Cream Sandwich, for my Nexus S its not a worry as I know it will be supported and updated so on that front its all good but yes when ICS comes out they could quite well release a new tablet - which is the main problem in the tech industry as soon as you buy a new better model comes out and it seems even more apparent with android!
Part of me thinks get a Xoom will be fine with updates etc and then everytime I look at the tab 10.1 or read about ICS I hesitate. Rather frustrating!
Part of me thinks just jump in! And if I come across a Xoom whilst in Kuala Lumpur I will probably buy it.
Thanks for the advice!

Hey man...
I recently bought the xoom (zoom) this saturday 6/4/11 and I was racking my brains on which to buy...same as you...and I went for the xoom for these few reasons...
Motorola made a great Android phone (Droid) and the build of it was really solid and sturdy. I tried to intentionally scratch the screen with a tack, keys, nail, sharp things and it simply would not scratch. +1 for that...The build quality of the D1 was great...really really sturdy. I was looking at an upgrade for my cellphone back in Dec and almost went with Samsung...but the build quality was a bit plasticy...so I waited..got the Tbolt...these few things about the D1 sold me on the xoom...but not fully.
When comparing the two devices I saw some pros that the xoom had, I felt took the cake. Expansion SD Card slot...Vanilla honeycomb...and different outputs i.e hdmi ect...I had to go with the one that was more bang for my buck so to speak.
After using it for almost 2 days now...I love the weight of the xoom...Its very very very solid, just like my D1. I love the screen, I love the usefulness of the device and I love everything about it!
It looks great, feels great, and operates fantastic. I should say that I got the wifi version and really love the thing man...if I were you...go XOOM!
Some things not mentioned
a) Have to hack to get the sd card working
b) The Samsung 10.1 does not have an AMOLED screen. Therefore cannot be listed as an advantage.
Although some have claimed that the tab does have a better screen. Not sure. But I have heard that the tab has bleed through light on the sides. Again not sure.
Guys im really confused..... can't decide between the xoom, acer iconia tab and the transformer.... Plz help.... I heard transformer has many issues such as light bleeding..... plz share your experience with me......
Plz let me know if you have any other tab in mind which I can buy......
(and if some one could tell me whether the transformer has a ddr2 ram or ddr3??)

some transformers have a bleed issue, not all, mine doesn't or at least it's so light i don't notice it.....makes for an AMAZING comic/book reader....loving it so far
Do you want the keyboard dock? I did and chose the 32GB Transformer. I am very pleased with it. The screen is really good. I have never seen this bleed problem. Don't worry about DDR2 or DDR3. What counts is that the Transformer is very fast. Expect for some bragging rights, all of the Terga 2 tablets are about the same performance. It's more about the features.
Bye.
Could someone post me a pic of how the transformer looks like with the bleed......and can't I (if I buy it) get it fixed under warranty??

No bleeding here, so I can't help. Just wanted to add my 2 cents that I love my TF and have no issues with it.

Padfone is coming out around Christmas. That'll be a long wait.
Regarding backlight bleeding. Not sure if I have it or not. I haven't gone into a dark room and looked at a black wall paper with maximum brightness lately.
I think a lot of the backlight bleeding is being blown out of proportion as it requires very unnatural conditions to really even notice. I don't think it's something to really worry about.
Anyway, I'd much rather have the Transformer's nice high contrast IPS quality display with some backlight bleeding rather than that washed out Xoom or A500 display.
One other thing. The Transformer feels a lot lighter than the Xoom or A500. The Transformer is a no brainer if you can find one.
I love my Transformer and it just got a bit better last night- update to 3.1.
I hate to say this - bc of jinx factor, but i have had no issues with mine.
A good way to see if you have light bleed issue is go to nook app, pull up a book and set it for night reading. it will blacken the screen. I have a min amount of light bleed. not enough to worry.
A friend has xoom and is selling for transformer. Not sure about acer.
But my recommendation is asus....
NOW go get it.
If its TAB 10.1 vs TF, there is something to give a thought for. Xoom vs TF vs Acer, TF is a no brainer for me.

For me Tab vs TF isn't comparable. The Tab comes with no HW I/F but a propietary connector, and iPad-like experience. No SD/USB/HDMI until you use propietary accesories.
I somehow regret it, because I like Samsung very much, but no I/F is a big fail for me.
Regards.
Transformer...all the way!..Loving it...no issues...no COSTLY accessories...and best part is..Its OPEN SOURCE....and DEVELOPED everyday!...Go get one...along with a DOCK...yes...thats the feature you wont find in any other one...so go on...get it...
I have all three sitting on my desk. 32GB Xoom, and 16GB TF and Iconia.
If cost is no object I will take the Xoom. Smaller footprint, better selection of cases and it just feels and looks more "industrial".
With that being said I can also tell you that all of my team is getting the Transformer. Looks great, feels ok and is $200 less.
I can't speak specifically to battery life on the Transformer as I have not had it in the field enough but for me the Xoom will give me two, sometimes three days of use before a recharge under normal use. Heavy usage online and I get a really full day +
All in all I'm please with all of them but the Xoom and the Transformer stand out.
I just went through 2 Transformers. Beautiful IPS display, probably the best display of any android tablet at the moment. When used with the keyboard dock it's as close to a perfect duo any android base device will give you. Unfortunately, for me, I had issues with both devices. The first one had a tiny red stuck pixel in the center of the screen, to the left of it was a small piece of dust stuck under the screen, the right hand side suffered from creaking, and like many report I had backlight issues. The second tablet was pristine except for very noticible backlight bleed toward the bottom. This wouldn't have been such a major issue, however, since HC's status tab is black and right square where the bleed was, I couldn't deal with the fact that I'd be staring at it 24/7. Tigerdirect has been terrific with their customer services, but having to wait roughly 3 weeks for them to restock their inventory is a bit of a headache. RMAing to Asus is almost just as long. My advice to you is decide on what you need first before jumping in this generation. There are quite a few choices out there. Additionally this generation (Tegra 2) has been slow to mature. We've had tablets since November with very little fan fare, the eruption just started in February/March.....and with Tegra 3 and several Intel solutions within the next several months, it's important to keep your options open. I think we're about to hit a golden age of tablet computing due to high competition and increasingly incredible technology. Normally I am not the one to advocate waiting...as really, there is very little point with a hobby as everchanging as ours ...but in this instance with the late maturation of Tegra 2 I'm not sure....in any case if you're looking
cheap:
Nook Color/Viewsonic G-Tab;
bang for your buck:
Asus Transformer
blatant ripoff:
Motorola Xoom
One more question....is the 3.1 upgrade available to the asian region??
And the bleeding issue can be fixed right???

That's great Well, I'm buying my first tablet and I've read many reviews and many comparisons between those 2 tablets, and I know almost everything about them. The only thing left is something that can't be written down or recorded Just out of those 2, which one is faster I know it seems like a general question but I'm talking about raw performance. As in, which one will open applications a lot faster and load them a lot faster. You know, browsers and so on.
I'd appreciate it, thanks
Im going to have to give the edge to the note. The combination of lower resolution and 2gigs of ram make it super fast. When i open an app on both devices at the same time i will say the note wins a majority of the time. When it comes to web browsing the note is a clear cut winner when scrolling through pages very little hangups. The infinity isnt far behind though and i am not a fanboy for either device i think they are both great but raw performance goes to the note.

I spend a hour testing a Galaxy Note at a local store. Because my first TF700T was broken and I decided to test the Samsung to be sure that I pick the right one again.
Yes it's fast, but fast is not everything. Haptics, design and ergonomics goes pretty clear to ASUS.
That the ASUS is slower is just a matter of the Screen Resolution. Android is not optimized for this screen size now.
So if you have a Samsung device with the same stunning display you will see that it doesn't matters wich Company you choose if the OS isn't made for it.
Plastics against metal is a unfair war but ASUS feels a lot better to hold in hand. I don't understand why Samsung still uses this cheap plastics, ok they say it is for the wight but ASUS is lighter and thinner even in Metal Case..
Over all display res is ergonomics and ergonomics are pretty much the most important part in a held-in-hands device.
Samsung can't take any competition agains the TF700T in this point. Samsung put the same Resolution as they had on the first Galaxy Note to a double as big screen. Thats just a joke for a device calles it self highend.
Only points left for samsung, if you need it, is 3G and the stylus.
The Stylus is a pretty little toy, but at all I don't know where to use it in productivity.
So my choice again was clear, ASUS will become a lot faster with 4.1 and the screen is still amazing.

This is the dumbest argument. First its not cheap plastic. Do some research.
Second the infinity problem is more then just screen resolution. Asus used cheap parts in the building. Thats why you have i/o issues.
Design and ergonomics is subjective. What's good for the goose isn't necessarily good for the gander.
And I have no clue what you're talking about with haptic. As far as I know it works fine on the Note. At least on mine.
The ONLY advantage you could quantitatively give Asus over Samsung is the screen resolution.
Aside from screen resolution, which ultimately each individual will have to decide which one he or she wants, both tablets have advantages over the other based on how you want to use it.
The Stylus is anything but a toy. I use it exclusively with S-Note for class and at work. Plus if you have any desire to do drawing/sketching on your tablet the Note is really the only choice. The infinity is horrible at stylus work. No matter how awesome your touchscreen tune is configured.
With that said the Infinity does offer a base with extended battery, sd card and a usb connection so if those matter then take that in to account. I found I didn't use the base very much. And when trying to take notes with the "office" apps I typed way to fast and there was serious delay.
As far as mirroring Infinity has hdmi out and Note has an allshare cast dongle (I believe this works with the note). Again subjective if you will use either.
I find the note better then then infinity. But that's just opinion and the way I use a tablet.
Oh and btw. Note warranty isn't voided when you root. Or at least you can get back to complete stock.

for me plastic is cheap, no matter what kind u use, and if you use shiny plastics thats less cheaper haptics than ASUS.
Have you tried TF700T with 4.1 JB ROM? It is a lot more responsive and no more lags at all. More Resolution means more work for the Memory even on the UI, if it isn't optimized for this it would lag. Or did you have seen a more resoponsive Full HD Tablet now?! The I/O Troubles from cheap chips? Hynix 64GB NAND chip in 2X nm technology? Not the main problem about the I/O troubles more kernel side I think.
Yes Design is subjective. But please tell me that you better choose the Note Design over the Apple iPad's or ASUS TF700's. That should be a joke. Every review out there calls the plastic cheap.. and what feels cheap has a bad haptic in my understanding.
Stylus is a pretty nice feature for sure, but to be clear if you have the choice between Full HD and Stylus I choose Full HD because more density is just more.. more website, more picture, more from everything. If you want to draw on your tablet or you take handwritten notes often the stylus is yours. But why no full hd with stylus? the Display is just cheap and the display is one of the most important parts of a tablet.
I never had any real delay on my TF700T just little lags like on the most 4.0 Devices but from what you say delay in office I've never seen anything.
Tell me you would not prefer a Galaxy Note 10.1 and ASUS TF700T combination. The best of both worlds. ASUS Metal Body, Display, Dock, Camera, DDR3 and maybe Samsungs Stylus, 2GB Dualchannel Memory, IR-remote.
And as long as this perfect tablet doesn't exists everyone have to choose wich points he gives more wight.
And WHAT?! Rooting don't viod ASUS Warranty. Even unlocked ASUS still is cool with hardware defects.
Samsung also have a way to see what you have installed on your tablet and will don't give you warranty if you do great ****. Ever heard about Binary Counter?
Ever heard of the app that resets binary counter? Not like Asus which logs your s/n and has denied many warranty claims on that fact alone.
Please, your still spewing opinion as fact.
I guess you could search the infinity forum and the note forum and see which has more complaint threads.

The only thing I stated that was a fact that made one better then the other was screen resolution.
Everything else about the two tablets comes down the subjectivity. I stated features that distinguish each tablet, but those features don't make one better then the other. It's up to each person to decide what features they want in a tablet and can live without from another.
Don't be mad dude.
And straight out of the box my opinion is the note 10.1 holds an edge as the better tablet.
i'm not a fan boy of asus, infact i have GS3. I have tried so hard to like the Galaxy Note 10.1. Bought it and returned it to bestbuy TWICE. trying to like it more than my asus and just can't. First i hate the cheap plastic YES CHEAP PLASTIC. hate it when you are holding the devices it feel SO CHEAP. Second the screen sucks compare to asus, cannot look at such low resolution and salutated colors, third i cannot get use to using a big touchwiz tablet, with all that crap installed. I understand that you can install custom rom, but 90% of the people don't even know about custom rom so they are force to use the tablet just has it is. With the infinity you don't have to do any of that. It looks plain ICS just the way i like it. Touchwiz looks to cartoony made for kids. I use my tablet for presentation and HDMI output is a must for me. Hate the way samsung uses HDMI, have to buy a $40 xtra connector plus using MHL hdmi requires Xtra power connector to an outlet for it to work. Asus tf700 run a microHDMI from tablet to HDMI TV and done.
OP - Since you have both tablets it would be benificial for everyone to see some comparison videos side by side. Only if your up to it. It does become time consuming.
I also have a note 10.1 that i won at work. Its nice, the pen thing is pretty cool but otherwise useless unless i want to draw or be an artsy pantsy dude. I mean using supernote on my infinity and writing with my fingers is as good if not better than the S pen app suite from samsung. The tablet is quite more responsive because lag plaigs the transformer but again, the TF700 has the ressources, just need to work on the software issue. The note is fatter, thicker and chunkier, it feels much cheaper also. The TF700 overall is the better tablet, it feel premium, has a beatiful screen resolution that in certain cases is better. I've compared both tablet side-by-side and played an MKV bluray rip and suprisingly the note has better, brighter colors, the blue is more blue, the greens are more green and in color saturation its considerably nicer. but unless you compare side by side, there is no way to know.
P.S. I can make a side by side video for you guys tonight

I disagree. Cheap plastic, gimmick pen and horrible update history. TF700 ftw.... Also dude you need to calm down, calling other users argument stupid because they expressed an opinion shows how close minded you are. That kind of attitude is not needed on these forums.

I encourage people to express opinion. But don't express it as fact.

I had Galaxy Note 10.1 for 3 weeks before returning. Prior to which I had Transformer Infinity for almost 4 weeks. So what I have now? I am back to Infinity and plan to keep it.
Galaxy Note 10.1 essentially superior to Infinity every aspect except screen i.e. smoother, more stable, faster (especially browser), longer tablet standalone battery life. This is a fact. You put things side by side and ran same applications, it is easy to see without even running benchmark tests.
So why I chose Infinity? Because the difference in aforementioned areas are to me not significant enough to the difference in screen resolution.
Full HD is (to me) noticeble every seconds I use the tablet. Slightly less stability i.e. random crash every other day or so (which for some reason seemed to have improved) vs. once every week is manageable. Loading web page is slower but that is like 10 seconds on really flash heavy site that I visit so I am losing probably 5-10 minutes every day at most because of the difference in page loading time.

Guys now is my time! i have to buy my first tablet ever! i have saved money and i cant upgrade sooner cause i am a student so pls help me sincerely...
i have about $650 (US dollars). i want the best tablet.
i love the flash in android devices for internet, but for the resolution i had in my mind to buy the new ipad but then Jelly bean came and it also does not have flash so i changed the idea of getting the new ipad. because both ios and android now dont have flash, i love android. but i thought to just check ipad cause i have never bought and apple product cause i simple hate apple.
my uses r:
1- using internet. i use a lot of internet on my mobile so i need tablet now.
2- watching movies and videos
3- using camera on mobile but a decent tablet camera would be nice
4-listening music
5- transferring big files
well here are my choices. guys dont be one sided for ur 700 cause no device is perfect! just give me the idea of which to choose between these depending on ur experiences cause many of u guys here would have definitely used more than one tablet.
1- Samsung galaxy note 10.1
2- ipad 3
3- asus transformer pad infinity tf-700
4- asus transformer pad tf-300
5- acer iconia tab A700
guys i expect a good answer from u guys.
thanks
1- Samsung galaxy note 10.1
Fastest tablet on market, completely plastic case (I hate that), lower res screen than Infinity, S-Pen if you like to draw/take hand written notes.
2- ipad 3
iOS, Apple, iTunes.. meh
3- asus transformer pad infinity tf-700
HD screen is amazing, fast tablet but not as fast as Note 10.1. Has a Keyboard dock with extra battery, I type faster than I write so I prefer keyboard over S-Pen. Asus does have some QC issues so test out everything and make sure you're happy within the store return policy window.
4- asus transformer pad tf-300
If HD screen isn't important to you this is a good budget option.
5- acer iconia tab A700
Over-heats, sluggish, HD screen but I wouldn't go for it.
I suggest you go in to a store and play with each one and decide for yourself which you prefer. iPad, T700, Note 10.1 are all good tabs and suit different people's needs. Sony just released their Xperia S tablet with a 9.7" (I think) screen which might also be worth a look at. Or if you believe all the rumours you could wait and see if Samsung release their P10 with HD screen and perhaps Google will release a 10" tab too before Christmas. Oh and then the Windows tabs will be out so you'll have more choice
Tablet shopping is such fun!
Personally, I'd try to hold off on making your decision until Jelly Bean is available for the TF700. If Jelly Bean runs as well as we are all expecting on the TF700, it would be much easier to recommend it over the others.
Right now, with all of the QC issues that Asus has, I have a hard time recommending the TF700 to anyone. I really do like the device (or I would have sold it and bought something else), but some folks have had to return the damn thing 7 or 8 times before getting one without physical defects. I just don't feel comfortable recommending a device with so many defects out-of-the-box. Combine that with the Asus ICS implementation and it's just plain hard to recommend to someone that just wants a working device. I don't mind dealing with the software issues (I actually enjoy "tinkering"), but some users just don't want to be bothered with that stuff and want the thing to work without "tinkering".
Now, if Jelly Bean is implemented properly on the TF700, that I might change my mind on recommending it. While the physical defect rate would still be the same, I just think that it would be more "worth it" to deal with the QC issues if Jelly Bean runs well...
Just my opinion. I really can't comment on the other devices in your list since I don't own them...
My best recommendation would be to go to a retail store (if possible) and just try them out for yourself...

The two replies given cover the base, so I am not inclined to add my measly $0.02 to them.
However, I would like to make a point of requesting a more to-the-point topic title next time, for your own good. Not many people are inclined to go read up on a question with such a generic title -- meaning you will get less replies and hurt your own chances of achieving whatever it is you want to achieve. And XDA is not exactly unique in requesting explicit topic titles, either...
Process of elimination is probably what you have to use as "no tablet is completely superior to other i.e. NO best tablet" in my opinion.
The last two can be eliminated. Acer's tablet has full HD screen but have not received great review and pretty much most reviews puts TF700 over the Acer. TF300 is great budget tablet but if you can afford TF700 is better as it is higher end model.
The other three are tough and really depends on the preference.
1. New IPad ( I have iPad 2 so I am sort of basing on this)
Basically all round player with high resolution display, stability, speed. But it is completely different ecosystem than android. So you have to first decide iOS vs. Android.
2. Galaxy Note 10.1 (I owned it for 3 weeks)
Fastest, most stable android tablet out there. S-pen is closest to the paper the tablet can get. But lacks full HD, which I found out really important for me.
3. TF700
Full HD. When its functioning as fast as Galaxy Note. But slightly more frequent random browser crash. (which by the way I get it with Note and Ipad 2 as well, just a less frequent). But overall I chose TF700 as difference in stability and speed were not as significant as full HD (personally).
As someone else suggested, if you can wait until jellybean on TF700, it is probably the safest to wait until then as if it makes TF700 faster and more stable (particularly browsing), I can say it is hands down the best tablet at that point.
Ok I'll answer because you have so adamantly begged for a reply.
I had an Acer A700 don't go there you can cook dinner on that thing.
We have an iPad 3 it's wonderful device, it's not for those who love to tinker and adjust.
The Asus TF700T is my personal favorite because I'm big fan of the Android OS.
*just a note,
XDA is an Android board so you may not get too many recommendations for an iDevice here.
So there you go...

Well if you can handle iOs and itunes then I would say go to ipad. It is very good and quick.
Just not for me. I also have ipad but bought infinity. I just hate the software too much to use it. But hardware wise it is a well made nice device.
Quality Control issues are a constant for EVERY MANUFACTURER. With some having more and other manufacturers having less. I've owned Sony and Panasonic products that had horrible QC issues. Yet their products were still highly touted and rated the best in their respective markets, for that particular product. People come to product forums, more times than not, to vent their frustration about a product. Rarely do you see people come to tell you how amazing their device is...
For every negative review, on average, theirs 11 people ecstatic with their Infinity. If you go to Amazon 's review Site for the Infinity - over 250 people reviewed their device 4 stars or higher. With 50 people reviewing it 3 stars or less.
I
The Asus Infinity tablet is the flagship device all other manufacturers will try to emulate. I'm very happy with mine. Best electronic purchase in 4 years. And we're still waiting for Jelly Bean!
I would say that even putting the iDevice on the list means a person actually wants one.

I guess you just have to do what we all have done:
1) do your research. Read published reviews, product reviews on retailers' sites and learn everything you can about the potential products and then;
2) choose one. Try to choose one that you could return or sell more easily if you don't like it, so you won't lose too much money.
No one can know what is best for you, what works best in your environment...You can see that even with the same product, there is a diversity of opinion about how good it is.
You just have to take the plunge and make a choice.
Jelly Bean
The TF700 is supposed to have jelly bean in early October. I got this from Asus support and posted this earlier.
tf700t would definitely be my best bet. it is just better than everything out there. Alot of people on this forum complain about this tablet on very specific issues that are caused by rooting or unlocking. if you have only school uses for it you dont have to do either of them. tf700t takes surprisingly awesome pictures. video playback is beautiful. writing essays is ridiculously amazing with the keyboard. battery life lasts me all day. its a beautiful machine. GET IT!.
Strictly opinion/a suggestion (Not to be taken as the ultimate elitist truth)
Personally, a person that's owned a HP TouchPad, a Transformer Prime, and a current owner of both the Transformer Infinity and iPad (New iPad, 3rd gen.. whatever you want to call it... stupid Apple naming scheme), I would recommend the new iPad. And I mean that wholeheartedly if you're intention is to actually buy a tablet, and not an oversized phone without the phone or portable web browser/e-reader.
Ultimately, I think what's important is support and just look at all the mindless iSheep out there. It's just incredible. Android ICS was touted as the first iteration of Android optimized for tablets... yet the apps are still mainly for phones. The developers are brainwashed by the Apple brand and it is what it is.
You can go for an Android tablet but the "better specs" can only go so far... or if you ask me aren't even frickin enough! I bought the Transformer Prime thinking I was buying the best Android tablet in the market and was so underwhelmed and disappointed. Browsing was sluggish. Touch isn't as responsive as you'd hope most times (which is why Jelly Bean is still promising that the 'buttery smooth' experience...how many more versions until they get it down right instead of just settling?)... and most of the apps available are still optimized for phones not tablets. As an Android owner, I lust for updates hoping the experience feels better/snappier/ less FRIGGIN forced closes! As an iPad/iPod touch owner, I get excited about updates for new features. They've already got the experience down to a T.
With the new iPad you've got a screen that's better than the Transformer Infinity without the damn quality control issues. If you ever have a problem with it, if there's an Apple Store within your vicinity and your product is still under warranty, expect a pleasant turnaround time for troubleshooting and repair. With ASUS, you'll be paying out of pocket to get it shipped to them, and expect at least a 2 week wait.
Dev support makes it pretty much the Windows of the tablet universe. Ironically, it's actually iOS that makes Android look like OSX in that regard but most often with the quality of Linux software. You'll find some of the same apps on Android that's on iOS but they're either just as good or mostly worse or a still phone app that gets blown up on your tablet. So much for that big screen with the full HD res, huh?
Even with jailbreaking and rooting... the iOS jailbreaking community is more active. Cydia's updated everyday. With Android it's an easter egg hunt. God forbid you ask someone in a forum for stuff. You're often subjected to trolling... how about the classic "do a Google search!" It's the same with iOS too but since the community there is larger you're bound to get answers easier.
Does the mlb at-bat stream HD live games on Android? Last time I cared they didn't. I watch HD games live with no blackouts on my iPad thanks to mlb at-bat's better support on iOS and the jailbreak app FakeLocation.
There's also way better resale value with the iPad than any other tablet... check eBay for proof. Those people selling Transformers for $400 $500? Don't be fooled... they're either getting 0 bids or they're selling a whole bundle with the keyboard and crap and losing a lot of money. Apple sheep's got the mob mentality so it's way easier to sell... people even buy broken Apple products for more than you think! (again check ebay for proof... I sold even sold my water damaged Macbook for $400) With another tablet it either sells for way less, or ends up in the trash if it's out of warranty.
I'm just saying all this out of experience. You don't have to go buy an iPad... go for what suits your needs all the way. It's your money and these things are expensive. Good luck with your decision!

I have access to the Samsung note 10.1, the ipad 3 and the Asus infinity 700.
For some reason the Asus is the slowest in the bunch by far. I'm constantly making sure i'm in performance mode and even after that it just runs slow, slow and slow. It is like an old Windows ME machine. You have to let it boot up and then let it sit for a while and let it finish do whatever it needs to do. It gets frustrating when you hit/tap a button multiple times and nothing happens because the delay is so bad. People will just bark out screen resolution but in reality the screen isn't that good at all. The colors are very weak and nothing pops.
The Samsung even though is all plastic is a fantastic tablet. It runs smooth and quick. It is just a great all around tablet.
The ipad has a gorgeous screen. Best screen i've seen on a tablet anywhere. I put all these 3 tablets on a table and ran some videos and different things and by far the ipad has an awesome screen.
I really would LOVE if the Asus tablet was faster. Maybe I'll try to wipe it again and see what happens?

Hmm... Strange. I have iPad 2 and had Galaxy Note 10.1 for 3 weeks. I agree that infinity is slowest (in particular browsing) but otherwise I didn't notice much difference in speed e.g. loading other applications. And even when things are slower I wouldn't say way slower. When I compared browser page loading time side by side, most pages loaded similar speed if simple; whereas, flash heavy site or some other whatever heady site took almost twice as long but that is 10 seconds vs. 20 seconds.
If you have all three, perhaps it would be nice to have comparison video posted by having three unit or two side by side and perform the exact same task.
*Note: I have turned bloatware off, and browser2ram installed.

People will have different experiences based on the apps and syncs they have set up; especially those that perform a lot of concurrent background processes. The sequential IO scores on Asus tablets are nothing to write home about but if you don't have a lot going on in the background performance should be adequate. The moment a bunch of stuff is going at the same time reads/writes become random (vs. sequential) and things go south pretty quick. So if you loaded Opentoe’s apps and set up his syncs on your TF700 you’d get his results. So you’re both right.
Personally, I would go for the first Windows RT tablet that is full HD, if Microsoft lets them make one that is.
Otherwise the ipad 3. I sold my replacement one because I grew to despise them for their lawsuits and over pricing. But if you can live with getting raped by the $300 profits then the new ipad is the best for now.
Windows tablets look crazy fast and smooth and functional though. Kind of like Playbook, webOS, and Android swipe gestures with IOS fluidity.
