Old market - HTC Desire S

Hello, my market is the new 3.0something market, how can I go back to the original market? Help!

if you installed the apk, you can just uninstall it from applications otherwise i don't think you can. Even if you do manage to do it it would probably update itself again.

You can download the original apk from here and install it in recovery.
Ciao

i hope they will bring out an update for the new market soon, i think it's pretty pretty slow!

I agree it would update itself. nothing to do

The new market has some nice features, but I agree that out is pretty slow.I noticed that using SSH tunnel speeds up things.probably three amount of DNS requests is pretty high and handled quicker this way not using wifi.anyways a upgrade is really required and I am sure they will speed things in the best future (hopefully).

Gingerbreak 1.2
Virtuous Unity v1.31
EXT4Recovery v2.1.3 RC2

Initially i installed new market as soon as it was out via APK and it was a bit painful to say the least. I went back to the old one and gave it a month then the auto update came through and it's been ok since. Must have ironed out the earlier crinkles before final rollout?

I'm still waiting for the auto update. Seems to be a very slow process.

The APK into SYSTE \ APP

I like the old market.

Saw this on XDA today

Have not got the new market yet, but think it looks cool. Maybe you just have to get used to it?

I've given it a week. I couldn't take it any more! I may have been able to overlook the lag, but the added annoyance of the missing 'update' button for new app updates was just too much. Every day having to clear data before updates worked. Trust me the new looks wear thin quickly!

TweetDeck

Anyone try the new TweetDeck beta? I've been using 0.9.4 for about a week and its awesome so far. However all the updates since .5 through .7 seem to break it.
How did you update it. I think I still have the original beta version.

it's nice but the one thing about it I'm not liking is when I update it in the morning (I have it set on manual update) it remembers my position but after 5 or so tweets it jumps to 2 hours ago. It skips like 6 hours. I usually use touiteur and it lets you set up how many tweets you can load. I don't see this on TweetDeck. If it had that then it would be pretty nice...
Yeah, its a little rough but until they smooth out the rough patches and give a widget its one hell of a beta though.
Ok, call me new but Im lost. I have 0.9.4 as an apk file, but this new update doesnt seem to be in that format. Any clues how I load this?

When I installed the new one it was also an apk. But it wasn't a very good build so I went back to .4 seemed most stable.

I am in the same boat with you still have not gotten a market update from the default.
Be grateful guys and enjoy the good old market. New one simply sucks and lags as mad!

+1.
New market is just painfully slow. Sure it looks nice but even with good 3G/4G or WiFi it takes forever to load sometimes.
Not for me...

I don't know why you've got lag. I'm using baadnewz insertcoin ROM with the new market, and it's fast as ****. Perhaps you should change to a better ROM

Funny I'm using Insertcoin 3.4.0 that you have listed in your sig. It's just the new market is much more image intensive and take a while to initially load. I speed test in the 4-6mbps range with my HSPA+ and it still takes a few seconds of watching the "loading" screen when I first launch market. On edge it can take 10-15 seconds.
I wasn't aware that the market actually notified you about there being the actual market updates, I thought it updated itself silently behind the scenes.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
it probably doesn't notify but i haven't even received the behind the scenes update... it's kind of ridiculous to wait this long when they've already updated the new version 2 times over....

[Q]New Netflix tablet UI downgrade?

One day to my surprise there was a new ui on my Netflix, so much better so I looked it up to find out they finally made it tablet friendly
A couple of days later I'm back to the old Netflix
I didn't change anything on my xoom since then
Does anyone have the new updated Netflix apk? I can't find it for the life of me
Sent from my HTC Mecha using Tapatalk
What's wrong with the one in the market? Works great on my xoom. Go to apps and do a search.

The point was it was from the market, no matter what I did, which version I installed I got old crappy look
A wipe and reinstall of my Tom fixed it tho
Sent from my HTC Mecha using Tapatalk
The one on the market displayed both UI's. It's an HTML5 app so they can change the way it looks without you updating the app. If you were tweaking your build.prop or pixel density it may have thrown the app off so that it displayed the old ui.

Market 3.4.4 - Painfully Slow!

I had the update to the market 3.4.4 about a month ago.
I noticed real speed improvemmets over the previous market 3.1.5.
However, recently it has slowed down soon much its ridiculous.
Starting up takes about 1minute to load the home page.
Clicking on an app takes 1min to load the pictures.
Its unbearable and painfully slow. Do your other devices have this problem too? What can I do?Thanks.

Did you install or change anything around the time it started getting slow? Do you have a nandroid backup you could roll back to? Failing that i would probably do a factory reset.
Wouldn't want to tolerate having a slow Market again after the speed improvements of 3.4.4.
For me it is the fastest market version I have ever used ... much stable for me I must say...

Although I do have a Sense 3.5 ROM backup and MIUI backup.
I might teat them out later
Thanks for the help guys!

I always thought Apple's App Store was equally slow (If not slower). Perhaps it's just a given that app stores are to always be slow

It's slow as hell on my ancient 2nd gen iPod touch. But on a newer iPhone 4s, ipad etc, its lightning
And android market 2.x was the fastest app store ever!!
Why take away the speed Google?

I wouldn't know. I never had an iPhone. I will say that the WP7 app store is as speedy as the rest of the OS.

Ok...
It's been a while...
I've recently moved back to Sense 3.5 Rom, and now my market is fast again.
I guess there was some corruption in my set up on CM7

[Q] Newer Market coming?

Does the MT4GS stock have a chance of getting a market update? A friend has a MT4G and it got the new market a while back.
Newer market has a few features I am looking for and this older market is not cutting it.
Any information is helpful.
It should automatically update. There should be a way to sideload the market if it doesn't update automatically.
@Lime - Right I saw it automatically update on the MyTouch 4G and thought maybe the Doubleshot would get the update soon. It hasn't. It's been months.
When you visit the market there is no "market" to update. As it is a system app.
Please keep the thoughts coming.
It is a known bug that market updater is broken on the 4G Slide. I am not sure if the 1.55 update fixed it but it doesn't seem so.
Edit: ok so I uninstalled the updates and cleared cache. It went back to the old market and it updated but not to the new one though. But 1.55 did fix the market updater. So if you don't grab the newest version below it should update eventually.

That link doesn't work. But it auto updated. If you go to apps and uninstall updates and clear cache it should update to the new one. It just did for me.

I went to Home, Menu, Settings, Applications, Manage Applications,All Tab and scrolled to "Market"
There are three -
Market 2.3.4, 3.57 MB
Market Feedback Agent 2.3.3, 120 kb
Market Updater 1.0, 4 kb
I cleared cache. There was no way to uninstall any of them or uninstall updates that I could tell.

How? The Clear Data button is greyed out. There is 2.37MB of data. Happy to clear it. Not sure how too.
I didn't do anything. I just launched the Market App and got a notification for update to Google Play. Didn't do anything to cause it. I am running Pyrosense.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement.
I am sure updating to Play is automatic but likely you already had the newer market. In this case I am stuck in the older market, no books, movies, or music, just apps.

Google Play is likely a less confusing name than "market" plus as not everything costs money it is a softer sound. Also likely some arguement can be made that games, movies, books, and music are all more "play" oriented.
Now if I could just get the last market to update...I'm not even worried about play right now.

This worked and provided the most important thing I was looking for: multi-account access. Awesome.
Installed, and seconds later saw multi-account access.
Extra thanks to @mattlowry for finding a trusted source after the first was something *I* was nervous about.
Can the OP mark this question as answered? Didn't see a way to do so.
