Redux is a custom ROM, built with three key aspects in mind: Clean, fast, stable.
Features:
This second version focuses on users' needs and experience; it tries to bring useful features to our phones that have a place in our day-to-day usage models. Current implemented features are as follows:
FM radio support;
Built-in FTP server functionality, so there's no need for a cable when transferring files;
Multitasking panel, with quick access to common settings and multimedia controls.
Smaller additions include:
Trackball wake
Lockscreen music controls
Playback control via the volume keys
Killing the foreground application by long-pressing BACK
LED notifications improvements
Option to turn overscroll glow off
Supports small /cache partitions
LITE build supports small /system partitions (as small as 75MB with the LITE build)
Source code:
The source code isn't yet available, though I will release it at some point in the future, after it gets settled.
Requirements:
Amon-RA or ClockworkMod recovery to flash the image
Installation:
Flash the .zip file from recovery. If coming from another ROM, erase /data and /cache partitions.
Download:
Redux2-31.08-TEST.zip (md5: a27c14e6dd0fb90e8c54ef1c392e198b)
Experimental versions: (These are not supported in any way, and you may not find any use for them)
Redux2-31.08-lite-TEST.zip (md5: 84fd58305dab7e9c3a17f69093e4bcd3) -- This is a stock Redux build with LiveWallpapers, Gmail, Maps, Talk and Email removed. It uses only 75MB of storage.

Read the FAQ below to learn how you can involve in the Redux project.
FAQ:
Q: I've installed it, what now?
A: Enjoy your Desire. Redux comes fully equipped and most usual tasks can be accomplished with the stock apps and settings. Google applications such as Gmail, Maps or Youtube are included as well.
Q: Is this compatible with Oxygen's HBOOT r1 partitioning scheme?
A: Only the LITE builds.
Q: Is this compatible with Oxygen's HBOOT r2 partitioning scheme?
A: Yes, all builds.
Q: I thought this ROM had A2SD. Why isn't there enough space on my phone?
A: Apps are being moved to the ext partition on the card but dalvik-cache is eating up a lot of space. If you can't live with this, download the 'apps_dalvik2ext' script from the add-ons section in the first post. Flash that like a regular update .zip (warning: the .zip isn't signed) and you should have more space on your /data partition.
Q: What about these test builds?
A: These are perfectly stable for daily-use but bugs may appear from time to time since the development speed is quite high. Also, more features are planned for the final versions so there's no need to name things as "final" for no reason. What's the rush?
Q: Will this feature be included in the next release? Please!
A: Having many features is far from this project's purpose. I am going to focus on adding only useful features and ignore stuff like "dude, but I want to have glowing stars on my display!". If you think you have something in mind, you're more than welcome to share your thoughts in this thread and I'll consider it.
Q: What can I do to help? Can I join the team?
A: You can improve Redux at any time, mainly with translations. A guide will be posted in the near future.
Q: Where's the donate button?
A: Look in my signature. Donations are welcome in a humble way; I am not developing this ROM for your money, but for my own pleasure. It started out as a personal project but it has grown on me and I continue to develop Redux even if I no longer have an HTC Desire.

Very nice! Good job!
edit: just wondering if thats the full changelog?

This is not the final version, and as such the feature list will grow in time. I just considered it's better to move the discussion about Redux2 in a separate thread, and leave the old one free for anyone who still uses Redux 1.2 and encounters an issue, needs advice, etc.

Sweet as, Will be looking forward to more updates in the future. Ok if i create redux twitter page? bored

Hi
i am new with your rom i install v1.2 yesterday
if i flash new version without backup should i lose any data or program
also i download the 'apps_dalvik2ext' script in v1.2 should i install it again

I'd guess it'll be ok.

Great!
Thanks for continuation.
Going to try.
Wait for the sources.

I was just testing Cm 7.1 and found to be quite good. But very bloated with features here and there (not to mention bad battery). But i did find a couple of upsides to it.
Music app looked much nicer. Maybe you could theme original, or some how incorporate cm's one. I tried replacing it by pushing cm's to system/app but it didn't work.
The Dsp manager is a neat app too. But then again we can all just push it if we want to all in all great rom!

I had just perfected my customization for test build2 mentioned in 1.2 page and you release this new build.
Why did you make it so tempting ?
Now I'll have to fight the urge to reflash it Today itself.
Damm it !!
Wish you had released on a Friday/ Saturday.
Jokes apart , thanks for this release.
Surely it will be nice. Will try to test it ASAP.

Getting the new build right now. Stoked.

- one information: i had swiftp installed. but now it disappeared from the app list. saw it's installed as a system app. not a big thing

Almost all HTC & third party apps (including sense) removed and replaced with stock android apps
1. Copy the ZIP to the root of your SD Card and then Turn off/unplug your device
2. Turn it on again while holding down the 'volume down' button this time. The screen will look similar to before, but will say 'HBOOT' instead of 'FASTBOOT'.
3. Use the volume buttons and the power button to select the 'RECOVERY' option. You should then see a screen with a red triangle - at this point, plug it into your Linux or OSX computer.
4. From 'push files' zip that you downloaded you'll see a file called 'recovery-linux.sh' or 'recovery-mac.sh'. Run the one appropriate to your operating system and the screen of your device should change to display the green recovery image menu.
5. In the recovery image (moving around using the optical trackball), select 'Wipe -> Wipe data /factory reset'.
6. Then 'Flash zip from sdcard' and choose the "Pympsters_ROM_0-1". Confirm with the trackball and the update process will begin.
When the flash has finished, reboot, and you are DONE, WHOOHOO!

Lite BETA?
Ok this has proved much more difficult to make this than I originally intended! I have yet to find a fix to a FC error on the MMS app. This is very much a BETA release, there will be the occasional FC error. Contact sync with google can often cause an error. Please post the details and any screenshots so I can try and squash these bugs
Oh and in reality its probably more of an ALPHA release. I recommend making a Nand backup before hand, in case you want to flash back quickly
Thanks!

I personally haven't ever needed it. If you do want to add it then you can flash the zip to it. nachtschicht discovered how to make it operate correctly:

Seems to me like all the things you have changed can be actually accomplished via kitchen in MCR.

I was thinking the same thing...
I only started making the ROMs for myself and a friend and wanted to share them with you guys on here. I clearly give credit to Paul at the bottom!
I'm using Paul's ROM as a base because it's a really good start point. I'm working in implementing a few other things to the ROM. You can pay to have some of the things I have added/removed using Paul's online kitchen here.
I am making this ROM primarily for myself and to increase my understanding of the Android platform.

I saw the link at the bottom, and I'm not trying to be rude, I have no problem with you basing stuff on my public releases.
I couldn't work out from the topic if it was based on my ROM, so I'm probably not the only one, that's all!

Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs - either shipping or leaked. A MCR release is designed to feel as far as possible like a stock ROM, with optimisations, tweaks and complimentary additions that enhance the user experience. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.

In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed (Clockwork Mod).

Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the free online kitchen at MoDaCo. In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.
Gr5 (default kitchen options, no MoDaCo additions) - DOWNLOAD
Radio 12.62.60.27U_26.13.04.19_M (extract from zip and flash via 'fastboot') - DOWNLOAD
Please note that the download links implement referring checking to avoid deep-linking. If you are redirected to the MoDaCo homepage when you download, try 'right click save as', disabling ad blocking / no script or if all else fails try an alternative browser.
Unedited RUU
If you would like to base a ROM on 3.06.405.1, I have put the stock RUU online for you. I do NOT recommend flashing this in it's entirety, it should be used only for development purposes! DOWNLOAD
Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
Future Updates - READ THIS!
By providing this ROM I am not implying in any way that future updates will follow. Due to limits on my time and the fact that I have a large number of devices for short periods of time, it isn't possible for me to continue providing ROM updates indefinitely. Please do not donate / sign up on the assumption that future releases will be available (I don't want you to be disappointed!).
I no longer have access to a Desire HD, so this ROM is no longer being updated.
The download and kitchens will continue to be available should anyone wish to use anything from the ROM - feel free to contact me via PM with any questions.
And finally...
Details on how to donate should you wish to do so are in download topic at MoDaCo.
Enjoy!

In the future, when updates are released, you can just flash without wiping hence keeping all your data. This is the case unless there are major deviations from the original base ROM. That said, if you don't mind losing data, I'd always recommend a wipe.
Regarding the ROM, I can't wait to try this tonight (3D Gallery, Lockscreen )....... Why do I have to work, why do I have to eat and why oh why do I have to sleep??
Will report back any issues etc.
Thankyou once again for all the hard work.

Great ROM,
I just got a quick question though, if i wish to push my own custom bootanimation to the handset, where do i push it to? ive tried both /data/local and /system/media and i still get the MoDaCo bootanimation showing.
Any help would be great.
Again Great ROM!!!
Can't get adfree to work, any thoughts?

if you did uncheck the defaults at Applications/software, HTC Sense, then when you press Home button, you dont get a question which launcher to start?

LATEST MIUI RELEASE NOW UP 1.6.24 PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE INFO.
This is my version of MIUI that I put together on a weekly basis, It is a barebone release of MIUI, so none of the added bloatware.
MIUI by default has a lot installed and on the Desire our space is precious. So i striped out everything and only add the stuff in I want to use manually.
This Rom is the completly stripped Rom Base and comes in at only 60MB. So it's your decision what you add to this Rom.
This Rom will also run on the Oxygen R2 Table, as fits into the 100mb system partition.. - Thanks to VNVMAN for testing.
Base Rom Comes with:
GingerBread Base 2.3.4
A2SD
Zipalined
Deodexed
Rooted - Super User
BusyBox
MIUI Home
T9 Dialer
SMS
Contacts
Theme Manager
MIUI Camera
MIUI Gallery
MIUI Notifications

MIUI Backup
Update's and Releases.
Due to a few teething issues that naturally occur when a new version of MIUI is released, I have decided all future releases will be under two catogories, so you all know what to expect from the ROM.
Stable - For people who want a fully functioning reliable Rom.
Experimental - For people to download, to see the latest features and report bugs.

Experimental
None at the moment, as all issues with the latest release were ironed out 25/06/11
You do not need to Wipe to apply the latest fixes, however to take advantage of the extra system partition space it is recommended.
If you are new to the Rom, there is no need to apply the old Rom first, as these are full Rom Updates.
Please see the 2nd Post for any Addon's i thought you may want, that were striped.

Open the terminal

Known Issues
Currently all known issues have been resolved and are now at a stable release.
If you find any bugs/glitches, please report in the thread.
If you encounter any issue's with the theme manager at all please Flash the following fix:

Language Packs:
Most language packs should work just fine with this Rom. If you run into any problems, putting your language packs on I'd be interested to know and try and help resolve.

It is a2sd that you will need to activate, something else I should add to the first post thanks!!
Instructions to activate:
Grab a terminal from the market
Open the terminal
Type SU
Type A2SD zipalign
Type A2SD cachesd
Now just wait for the reboot and A2SD should be activated.
Ext3/4 Partions. Will update the first post.

Of course I don't mind.
1) The main difference's are ive cut out all the crap basically, so you have the ability to choose what additions are added to this ROM and not me or anyone else. The other main diference is it fits on a 100mb System partition. So the Oxygen Hboot for example.
2) It doesn't currently have 720p no, but you won't find a Gingerbread release with one.
3) Should do yes, would be interesting to see. Also this maybe of some use: http://forums.miui-dev.com/showthread.php?723-Arabic-RTL-Fix
4) Yes it does and also the oxygen hboot etc.
Any other questions, just holler

[ROM] GalnetMIUI Chameleon RC1 [23/08/11]

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!
We are sorry to announce that we will be moving all of our releases away from XDA Developers. As such, we would like to thank XDA for our time here, and are sad to see things end in this way, but it is for the best.
Introducing GalnetMIUI Chameleon RC1 for the Motorola Defy!

Images provided with thanks to Gubshi
We are proud to announce that we have now added official support for the Motorola Defy!
Lens Support:
GalnetMIUI supports both Red lens and Green lens Defy devices!
Installation is the same as the MIUI Android release. I have copied their install guide, so credit goes to them for this:
No Data Wipe Install
This method assumes you already have MIUI and want to upgrade to a newer version without wiping all your data and apps.
1. Download Latest MIUI rom and matching language pack.
2. Boot into Custom Recovery.
3. Install the rom .zip as any other install would go.
4. Select "Wipe Cache" then go to Advanced and select "Wipe Dalvik Cache". Reboot.
How To Install from Scratch
If you have 2nd Init installed already skip to step 3, if not start at step 1. These steps assume you already have flashed the Nordic Froyo rom to your Defy.
1. Download Defy 2nd init installer, easiest way is from market.
2. Run the 2nd init installer following the instructions closely.
3. Boot into Custom BootMenu by pressing volume down when device flashes a blue led at bootup. Set default boot mode to 2nd init.
4. Select Recovery, Custom Recovery. Choose "Wipe Data/Cache" option. Let finish.
5. Choose Install .zip from SD Card, select MIUI rom .zip and let it finish.
6. Let the rom boot for first time. If there is any Chinese in the rom, simply select your default language to English and reboot your phone.
7. Done! Enjoy!
Download
The download links will be in the latest release section of the official GalnetMIUI forums at www.galnetmiui.co.uk/content/forum however for this release I will give you the download link directly.

Change Log:
Market Updated
Lots of other small fixes that we've forgotten to mention
Updated to 1.8.19
Better Battery Life
Includes USB connectivity
What Makes GalnetMIUI different from all the other MIUI roms?
The aim of GalnetMIUI is to maximise speed, stability, and battery life. While it looks the same as any other MIUI rom from the end users point of view, we have done a massive amount of work under the hood to achieve this.
So far, we have achieved this on the i9000, i9000b and i897 devices, and we are now bringing these objectives to the Motorola Defy!
NICE. Waiting to see the work
Good day!
Just to let you all know that this is now released, please read the OP
Regards,
Are there any screen shots of this ROM? What differences are there over the standard MIUI ROM?

I have added the change log from Twooey II to Twooey III to give you an idea.
As for screenshots, It looks the same as normal MIUI, but with our own theme on it.
How return to official Froyo from this ROM looks like , is this posible ? What languages are supported ?
Installed. Report tmr
i would like some screen shots as well as what is the advantage of GalnetMIUI over normal MIUI or what is the differentiation? good to have more developers working on custom ROMs on Defy!
@kevin_diu Please give us sample camera records from this ROM.
@kevin_diu : and more info is welcome too , do you have green or red lensed Defy ? Could you check if there is Polish language supported ?
I have a green len defy. I will upload a few screen shot and record sample to you guys also I will report my battery life (I have to do a battery calibration tonight).
HK time GMT+8 now is 12:11 and maybe 8 hrs later I will update.
The signal of this version seems very good (4x asu I saw before power off my defy)
At first: THANKS for the work!
Now, it seems not that much of a difference, but it's said it's a tuned MIUI. But I really don't like the theme, it looks strange "red" when you press something in the menus, but hey, you can change that
Also it seems to have installed 2 launchers, it asks me to choose one (MIUI / TWlauncher) at start.
And though it's not that expensive, it's a strange idea to get groupies to pay you for early beta access. How just about a donation?
Will play with this for a while and report back if I find something interesting!

It's to help raise funds so that we can develop for more devices, and giving access to the same betas that we use ourselves was felt to be a fair deal.
The betas aren't of the next release of Twooey, they are betas of our next major release, which we've called Chameleon. And there will be features included in the betas that won't make it to public releases until Chameleon itself is ready for release to the public.
On a side note, is it ok if I use your screenshots for the OP?

Sure, use the shots
For the groupie-part - ok, sounds like another way to donate to you, and as "thank you", you get early access. As long as your final releases are public and free this seems fine
edit: forgot to ask, what's the story with two launchers on startup?
Is after flash phone already rooted or not ?

Thanks for that
The story of the two launchers is because some people can't live without an app drawer, so we included TW 4.5 by fraggor for those who either can't get used to no app drawer or simply can't live without one.
And yes, it's rooted.
Nothing special, restored my nandroid backup with official MIUI after 2hours of using this galnet thingy.
Yeah, i don't see from the changelog what the big difference is between this and official. Does it have 720p record?
Can OP be more specific on differences, please?

There has been a lot of disappointing posts all over the forum with people complaining about bugs, while not providing any kind of information for the developers aside from "X doesn't work" or "I get random reboots".
Well, without the proper knowledge, how are we going to fix it? We don't know what kernel you may be running, what version number you're on, or any information that the system spits out to let you know there's an error. So, I decided to start this thread, to hopefully teach newbies how to give us (developers) proper knowledge when complaining about issues.
This thread will have 3 sections, Logcat (App / system debug log.), Dmesg (active kernel output) and last_ksmg (Typically if you get a random reboot or something of that sort {this is the same as dmesg except it gets the info from the last shutdown [like a kernel panic]})
Section 1: Logcat
This log should almost always be included just because it provides more info than just saying something doesn't work. It will essentially tell you which apps are crashing and why and it also gives output of what they're doing. (Your system is running through apps, the dialer, wireless radio's, etc are all ran through apps.) so, if something is general, like a system force close, please just include a logcat.
How to get a logcat:
Well, this is REALLY simple, all you need to do is just get adb up and running (google how to do that, I don't feel like writing a 'how to use adb' tutorial for everyone's phone.) and then type
Code:
adb logcat
then you just right click, select, and paste to the thread. It's really that simple!
Section 2: Dmesg
This is getting into issues such as wifi not working, sleep of death, etc. Basically, things that make us go "OH F***" when we use our devices. Note: You will need adb access for this to work, same as logcat.
What this will do is get us live kernel output so we can know things like "What driver is the kernel loading {or not loading for that matter}" and similar things. This is linux, so kernel output is important if a hardware aspect isn't working right.
How to get a dmesg:
This is simple as well, no matter what operating system you're on (mac, windows, linux) just type
Code:
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt
and then it will have written the output to a .txt file in your current directory. Either paste the contents to the thread, or attach it to your post.
You can also get the dmesg by using terminal emulator. Instead though, you dont type adb shell, you need to also include it to somewhere you will be able to save it. Like /sdcard so, the command goes
Code:
dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.txt
Just get it off your sdcard and get the contents to the developer!
Section 3: last_kmsg
Ok, the last thing is last_kmsg. When android kernels crash, they right to last_kmsg so then you can find out what's going on. This is usually for issues such as random reboots and other various kernel panic symptoms. A kernel panic happens when the kernel tries to do something it can't. It doesn't mean wrong permissions, it could just have errored out on something and died which can cause a few things. Anyway, developers REALLY need this if debugging a kernel because it gives us a viable way to see WHAT it's trying to do instead of trying to guess what it is trying to do
How to get a last_kmsg:
This is super simple and the same on all phones no matter what, what you need is adb up and running (or terminal emulator) and either in adb shell, or terminal emulator just type
Code:
cat /proc/last_kmsg > /sdcard/last_kmsg.txt
or you can do
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/last_kmsg > kmsg.txt
and that will write it to your current working directory from cmd.
Hopefully, this way we developers can have our lives be a little bit easier and you can learn more about android.
I'm glad to have written this and devs, feel free to link to this guide as a "bug reporting FAQ"
Or try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30344895

Frankistines build was based on Bruce's CM10. Did you also get his latest updates, or you just got where Franks left?
Also I noticed you've included Gapps, I'm not entirely sure, but I believe Google is against that, or something like that. I might be wrong, but you should look into that, just in case.
Anyway, cool to see AOKP back into Sensation, nice work. And if you ever decide to upgrade to JB4.2 AOKP that would be pretty cool.
