Back button issue NS4G - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a problem with back button, seems like a known issue.. this is a brand new phone, just bought today... and the back button sticks and sometimes freezes device... is this software? I'm planning on rooting and throwing a new rom on, could this fix it?

I experience this on all Roms on my Nexus S. It's not Rom related.

Thx for response bud. No wonder these phones are being sold for 23 bucks on sprint.com... the conquer cost more (how is that even economically possible? Lol)... with that being said I don't mind too much.

Welcome to our club.
Also just picked up a G2x off of Craigslist, as well as a T-Mob Nexus S. Playing with both of them to see which one I'll keep. Have you put a ROM on the G2x yet? It's a little bit more involved than using the One-Click app.

I've tried out most of them. I prefer the CM7 nightlies so far (although I'm running the latest KANG atm).
I'm on AOSP and liking it, prolly move to CM nightly soon. Between this and the Nexus S, having a hard time deciding which I prefer - whichever one I happen to be using at the moment is the one I like better. Just worried about whether devs will bring a decent ICS to the G2x.

Does CM7 have the issue of constantly turning wifi off when screen shuts off, even though settings are fixed to prevent wifi shut off? I was using Eagle's Blood, which is supposed to be based on CM, and my wifi would not stay on and was causing my data radios to kill my battery. I'm now on Weapon G2x and the problem stopped (saw this solution in other forums), but I'd like to try other ROMs and I'm wonder if you or anyone else has seen this issue in their ROM of choice. Thanks!
Thanks this phone is fast I can play angry birds and ninja fruit with no lag

it is encouraging to see someone else do the same drastic upgrade! i am a little afraid i'll miss my keyboard but i think that will fade quickly
Yea this is a nice phone. Something about the hardware I like most is the feel of the screen, it feels just like glass so your fingers glides with ease lol

I thought I was going to miss the keyboard on the blackberry. I was over of in a day.

Also forgot to mention I came from a Motorola backflip. Its slower then the g1 cuz of motoblur. I was happy to throw it up in the air about 70 feet in the air once I got this phone. Surprisingly it didn't crack. It broke though. Anyways Congrats on the g2x

that is good news to hear then i've had keyboard phones for six years and was going to upgrade to the sidekick 4g but after doing all my research i decided the g2x was obviously a much better phone, it will just be a bit of an adjustment for me
I also came from a g1 and sold that and got the mt4g with some cash. It was and still is a beast of a phone but I needed a g2x so I traded for one on craigslist. Honestly as nice as that g1 keyboard was I have gotten over it with smartkeyboard pro which IMHO is the best on-screen keyboard out there. Best part is I'm still due for an upgrade since this past August and I already got this sick ass g2x I was drooling for back when I had the og g1 lollol

Have fun
I used to have the G1, then Mytouch 3G, now G2x, it's a great phone! Way fast and now that most of the bugs are worked out it runs awesome. Now I just need to figure out how to root the thing and I'll be all set!

exchange

exchanging my one s for another do to hardware screen flickering issue. should i be worried about bootloader being unlocked?
No mate HTC themselves say its fine..might be worth just putting a stock rom back on just for safe measure

New Nexus S 4G not as good as old one

So I have had my nexus s 4g for a while and it has taken a beating. It got to the point where the top of the screen is cracked and the power button no longer works. I finally decided to purchase another one but all I have had is issues with it. The new one isn't as fast or responsive even running the same ROMs and kernels. I don't get it why would my older phone run better than the new one if the hardware is the same? Anybody know what could be causing this?

Hi,
Where did u buy it? (Just curious, how much?)
And did u buy brand new or new from refurbished stock?
If refurbished, did u verify "all" memory was properly wiped?
And I've read from users on these threads that every Nexus S 4G acts differently on different ROMs and kernels. But I can't truly verify that for u.
Good luck

I bought it on Craig's list for $75. I have factory reset and wiped all memory and cache. Even when running stock jelly it is waaaayyyyy slower. I know not all phones even ones that are the exact same will act a little different with different Roms but considering just using it for parts to repair my older one

I would have recommended a full formating of the memory to get rid of anything left over.
It is much better than just factory reset and wipe. Those don't erase what's on the memory at all.
Something on there could be slowing down the system.
Good luck

Wow what a difference i did just that and now I'm in love with my phone again.

Replacement screen has pink hue

We had to get the screen on my wife's T-Mobile One S. A nearby T-Mobile store recommended a repair place called ubreakifix.com that had a location in the area. They had to order the screen, no biggie, and it was an oem HTC complete with logo. Once installed though the colors all had a pink hue to them.
After trying to convince us the color was right and then opening it again and checking then connections, he decided to order another screen. Has anyone seen a faulty screen like this or could this be under lieing damage from the cause of the broken screen?

A replacement I got had the same thing but I had gotten a replacement straight from T-Mobile and they switched it out again when they saw the tint

So the second screen was good? That's a relief to know. I guess I won't be getting to upgrade to a Nexus 4 then, hehe.
Lol Yea the second one was good so you should be good ...I kinda miss some of the feature on the one S so don't be too disappointed Lol all these smart phones nowadays do everything and sense actually adds a Lil class to it just my opinion though not saying I hate the nexus either

I completely agree. There's nothing really that stock android offers that other ui's don't provide now. Plus, well... Not so much with sense but definitely touchwiz now has definitely added a lot of useful features, depending on your needs of course. But I mean looking at the Optimus g, and the multi app view of the note ii. There are finally becoming reasons to have a ui overlay. Now I will say I've seen nothing that beats the beauty of sense widgets...

I've been thinking of asking for a Nexus 10 and have been seriously weighing my other options due to it's stock nature and only running the "phablet" ui.

HTC One Mini Backing

The backing to my HTC One Mini has half fallen off. I don't remember dropping it, but I guess it is a possibility. Has anyone seen something like this or know how to fix it. I would prefer not to send it in for warranty repair, as that is a pain in the ass. I can upload some photos if anyone wants a little bit of a better idea of what I am talking about.

Also now notice a little red bleeding through on the screen... getting a little concerned probably need to get HTC on this one.
I would send it back for replacement.

Hmm, looks more like the components inside are pushing out the back than the result of a drop. This could be caused by a swelling battery, perhaps the same problem as the GS4 has been having. I'd stop using it, power down and return to HTC pronto.
