I was wondering if there's a way that I could capture my g2x screen as a video instead of a screen shot like hypercam on a computer?
CM7 nightly 90 with Latest Trinity kernel
I get what you're saying BUT can you be specific in just what you're trying to capture as video???

I'm not sure of an app that can do that but I know there's a desktop java application that does here: http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
If you need any help with using it, let me know!
What i meant was i want to capture whats going on on my phone screen ( not a screenshot which is a picture) i want to record whatever is going on on my my screen continuously) For example if i want to record a game of papijump (most simple example) how would i be able to do so? is there any way?

Did you look at the link I posted above? That application does exactly that, you just have to have your phone plugged into your computer to record.

Whats up guys? I had an iPhone and it was pretty simple to capture a screen image (home+lock button)... I intitially figured there was no way to do this right out of the box but When I was in my gallery one day I noticed a screen snapshot! Does anyone know how to do this w/o a cab file.
Don`t know of a way without 3rd party software but BsB Tweaks will do it and this:-

So, I was wondering if there was an app that would allow me to take pictures with my phone camera at a specific intervals. And if not... If anyone would like to make one?
It would have to give me full options, full resolution, ISO, and any effects, etc.
So, thoughts?
Thanks,
Jeremy
I use an app called Camera Magic for this.. pretty basic as far as options go though.

Here is that app but it controls another Dslr not the phone camera as yet.

Interesting. Thanks for that.
I love CM7 and want to go back to it ASAP, and don't even care about the little bugs it has, and also don't care about the 1080P soft reboot issue either. Everyone says you can just set the video recorder to 720P and it should work fine right? Well, when I set it to ANY settings, the video comes out all distorted and weird looking??? Is it because the only way to record is in wide (sideways/landscape)?? Please someone tell me how the heck do you record (and playback) in 720P on CM7 SelfKang.
Really??? Not one reply??? So does everyone on CM7 just never use their camcorder? Ya gotta love the support on here.

Actually bro, I've wondered the same thing. I love CM7 for all it has to offer. Great ROM and great speed. I don't usually use the camera much, but, the other day I was toying with it, and I've read all the threads in regards to the 1080p issue and thought about simply changing it to 720p. Simple right? Or you would think so anyway, well, I still haven't found how to exactly, however, I have used the camera after setting it to high(30m), under the high setting and haven't rebooted yet. I've also just noticed that the zoom doesn't appear to be working. I'm on the sensation super CM7 rom, but both under the same framework? one would think so anyway.. if you find a solution, please post!

Thank you, finally a response. I have never gotten zoom to work either? Everyone says you can tap to zoom, but it does nothing for me. My issue is still how to get the video camera to work. Every video looks as if it's clear, but it looks all tilted and weird. I hope someone else responds with the magic answer. I have asked this question a couple times and nothing. I know someone has this down pat, they have to. Is this some deep dark hidden secret??
interesting.. I just recorded a little over 3 mins of video, then played it through the gallery and it looked fine..
sorry to put it bluntly but the CM7/Miui camera is ****e and has been ****e for a long time on lots of devices.
if you ever need to use this functionality, forget about CM7

I am using the Tiamat kernel and can easily record over 3 minutes with no soft reboots and that is in 1080P. Now the video comes out all distorted and upside down!
So I went into system with file manager and did what is recommended over in the CM7 thread and that is to go into System\ETC and edit media_profiles.xml and change the 1920x1088 settings to 1280x720 save exit from file manager and reboot.
Works fine this way.

Do you know if it's also ok to change the duration to more than "60"? Something like 3hrs so... "180"? As long as the space was available on the sd card. I just prefer to close it when i'm ready.
Also maybe changing the fps from 30 to 60? Heh, I'll probably try it anyways, doubt it would blow up the phone. But first yes, thanks, it's nice having 720p working.
My wife's AT&T One X just started doing this weird thing where instead of the normal crop interface within the stock gallery app, it's putting boxes around any faces it detects and won't let us do a "normal" crop (with the resizable rectangle). How do we get rid of this? Just want to resize a picture and we can't.
Stock ROM, HTC Gallery application.
Thanks,
- Brett.

I just noticed the same problem with my HTC One. I don't know which moron thought this was a good idea but it need to be gone and soon! I can no longer crop a photo to just include the people. It's a lone face or nothing. Who thinks that junk is useful?

Try going into camera settings and turn face recognition off. It may work.

Didn't work, unfortunately. What a stupid idea. How often do people create contact photos?
Has anyone found a way?

Not on my HTC One with Sense 5. I turned off face detection, took a photo of people (faces aren't detected), then hit Edit, Transform, Crop. The "Touch a face to crop" message pops up immediately and the faces are highlighted. I can't custom-crop unless I go through a slow process of tapping a face and expanding the crop boundary several times, making it zoom out bit by bit.
I'm on 1.29.841.2.

Works just fine for me on CleanROM 6.5, and on past ROMs I've been on. Crop "frame" starts at a face, but I can resize and reposition it, as you would expect to. Face detection is "on" in camera settings. I don't think this is an issue with the way the feature is designed, but maybe just a glitch on certain devices/ROMs or a setting issue.
Hi again! I can believe that OP didnt give us the option to record video with the wide angle lens. I've found it very useful. So, searching a little bit, i find this code *#*#1597#*#* that you put in dialer, to open de developer camera api.
Digging into the app, i realize that you CAN record 1080p video with the wide lens, so.. theres any mod to skip this awful step, copying the code, everytime i wanna use this function?
I dont know why we dont have this option native in the app.
PS: sorry for my bad english!

What are you talking about? I dont understand. The black background on a portrait mode is a Samsung Feature, for example.
You're holding it wrong.
Why won't phone manufacturers fix this obvious problem?
IE, when the phone is held vertically the capture is still a proper 16x9 wide screen?
Vertical video capture is ruining everything!

Hey! Calm down. That was just a test. I think we would be more open mind. Some content its better to see in horizontal, other content its better in vertical. Im a photographer and sometimes, there are stories that are better to told in vertical, cuz i wanna told you something in that form, for example, this pics here: the vertical one, have a special touch, a unique point of view im comparison to the horizontal one

Sorry if I came off sounding harsh, it's a major pet peeve of mine!
Still photos in portrait orientation are fine obviously.
It's the video that's the issue.
A simple solution to this problem can be fixed on all devices, not sure why the manufacturers don't implement it!
