[VERIZON] Verizon 4GLTE Phone Release? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Anyone know of the next phones due to come out for Verizon that support 4G LTE connectivity? I'm looking to upgrade my plan in the next couple of months and want something that is going to have lots of support from the developers.

The bionic...

Anyone see this yet?
I know a lot of us take AT&T updates with a grain of salt haha.
What's your thoughts?

Finally! I guess the BS "testing" by at&t has been completed? LOL
God I hope so. Mine is slow as balls.

I guess so haha.
At least thats what it looks like.
Im not holding my breath though.

Ill get excited when I get the update. Til then my speeds are garbage and nothing changes.

Wow, no wonder my Speeds have sucked eggs... I thought it was a crappy 4G network, but come to find out it's not even a 4G phone yet!
Oh well, shows you how much real in depth research I did... Regardless, I still LOVE this phone!
Well I've been rooted since the second day the Inspire came out. Ive been getting upload seeds of 1.59 on. Hopefully this will increase the overall download and upload speeds.
That article says nothing about 4g. It just says hsupa.

Which is currently what AT&T calls "4G" and its currently disabled out of the box by AT&T... on phones marketed with 4G in the name.
CNET confirmed that AT&T plans to release an OTA enabling HSUPA on the Inspire 4G and Atrix 4G sometime in April, but that's still two months after the phones launched.

I dont know what all the fuss is about. I bought a brand new corvette, was delivered to my home, but it didn't come with the engine installed. The factory is testing the engine for 2 months before they install it in the car! LOL (at&t and their stupid excuses)

AT&T currently calls HSPA+ 4G... not HSUPA. all this says is that HSUPA will be uncrippled so you'll see upload speeds similar to iphones, nexus ones, and inspires with custom roms.
Ha, no one said this was 4G other than att.
The points that its called inspire 4g... yet 3g phones on the same network have the hsupa enabled already.
Its just ass backwards on att's part.
Its missing the "+" at the moment and it shouldnt have been released with this moniker if they knew it wasnt capable.
Its all marketing, the IMT had to change their definition of 4G to accommodate att and t mobile, but because they have an "lte roadmap" they can call hspa+ 4g.
This phone will always be 3.5g, because it is not lte capable.
It just stings as a customer and employee that they crippled this device and justified it by pricing it at $99 with an upgrade. Its one of those "whats the catch?" kinda things.
The catch is you pay them the same for data as an iphone customer, yet you are not able to get the same quality from the network... on a phone thats newer and marketed as being uber fast.
I liked that corvette example...

LOL No i was joking. This is what at&t appears to be doing to us. They released 4G phones that are artificially capped by disabling HSUPA that limits upload speeds to 300kbps. at&t claims that they are "testing" this before they enable HSUPA. It will be 2 months by the time they release the software update to enable HSUPA.
Does anyone know if this update will undo the root?

Are you on a custom ROM? If so, theres no need to update. All the update does is, it enables HSUPA which allows faster upload speeds.
Finally, but still holding breath until it shows 4g speeds on my phone

HAHA ok. I was like "WTF?!" I get my Inspire tomorrow switching from an iPhone 4 so I'm hoping I love it. I've had every iPhone since the 3g. Bit of an Apple whore. Now I'm just bored with iOS.
I finally broke the chains from at&t and rooted my phone. My only regret is that I should've done a long time ago. Now my speeds have tripled. Up yours at&t!!!

Yeah I went from the 1st gen iphone, 3G then to the 3GS. iOS is just that, boring. For 4 or 5 years, the iOS feel is the same. Same icons, same look up until the iphone 4.
Was gonna get the iP4 but then decided to get the Captivate and had nothing but issues with GPS. I got the Inspire and I am totally happy with it.
I am glad I made the switch to android. With an android phone and the awesome support and DEVs here at XDA, it just makes the experience a lot more enjoyable.

[Q] What phone to get on Verizon?

So;
I have an upgrade available to me in 13 days. I am on Verizon an do not want to switch to any other carrier. My GF just got the HTC Thunderbolt and I was wondering what phone I should get. Is there a superior phone coming out in the next month or two that I should wait for or should I get the Thunderbolt as well?
Thanks in advance!
I'd wait for the next galaxy s

att or verizon

soi switched to verizon four months ago because att service has gotten crappy. now i ordered my verizon s3 and find out that the bootload is locked.... should i switch back to att or stay on verizon? what would yall do?
Is it worth an etf?
i'm on at&t and i'm pleased with my service. i don't live in a major city and i consistently get 6-8mbps down and 1-1.5mbps up. for normal browsing it is more than adequate. no issues with call quality.
i'm also pleased with my phone. with my current configuration (see sig) i'm getting 5000-5100 in quadrant. benchmarks aren't a perfect indicator of how good the phone is, but the number is still impressive.
go back to AT&T
AT&T LTE is faster and Verizon new Share Data isn't all that. Too little data for so much money. AT&T!
We only have 3g where I live for at&t and lte on Verizon. I would keep my Verizon line for home Wi-Fi.

Go to ATT!

Att is faster and eventually get to the point where verizon is at with lte locations.

At&t is very good to us, and the service here is amazing. Then again, Baltimore being so close to D.C. is probably the reason. LTE has been deployed here for awhile and the speeds are insane. We've always had issues with Verizon at my house

Just afraid that I'll start having all those dropped calls again, I don't have any with Verizon

I have the att version I got 24.8mbps dl and 8 ul. No dropped calls either. Pretty amazing device so far

I always prefer gsm carriers to cdma ones. It feels weird having a phone that you cannot use if you travel abroad, especially europe where most carriets are gsm.
do you want locked bootloaders or better coverage?
Wonder if the locked bootloader is going to be a trend for Verizon?

Every lock have a key, I'm moving from ATT to Verizon (700$ etf) just because of the dropped calls. Can't stand it any more.

Probably a dumb question. Vzw sg3 on other USA carrier?

Looking at getting off Verizon, do not want to get another contract.
What is the status of our phone working on hspa? I've read in the development forum that in parts of Europe it gets hspa speeds as well as 3g so it's a Verizon thing?
Am rooted, unlocked yadda yadda running paranoid android rom.
Thx all.

Sell your phone for $300+, get a new one on your new carrier for less. Why keep it?

Thanks, but I am looking to set up on a prepaid service more or less. Guess I should have mentioned that in the op.

Won't work on US HSPA. There is a bounty thread in the forum trying to get it to work. Get another phone as other poster recommended. Will get EVDO speed. My other Rezound is Global on TMobile get EVDO only. Everything else will work tho.

Sprint WiFi calling

Two phones now have the app and more to come, I wonder if any devs are on sprint or interested in porting the feature somehow?

seeing more and more phones getting this option will it ever be possible for us to get this?
I just read about Sprint Phones having built in WiFi calling today. Anyone lookm at posting this to our Nexus 5 since the last time this was asked?
