[FAQ] THE ANDROID REVOLUTION HD FAQ and NOT-SO-FAQ - HTC Sensation

Will be updated in the future, as questions are found and answered. So far, the most popular FAQ's, compiled from dev forum(s), follow.
Do 2.1.x addons/mods work in 3.0.x?
Depends on the addon.
APM
Quick Settings
CRT Animation
Camera Mod
are confirmed as WORKING from other testers.
However, they are not officially confirmed by mike1986.
YMMV.
My phone isn't recognizing that it's plugged in via USB. Anyone else having this problem with RCMix Sensation 1.0 rev. (1, 2, etc..)
You're not alone. The problem hasn't been fixed yet, but it is being investigated. Harness your patience, or flash the Unity v8 kernel instead if you absolutely need USB connectivity.
Alternatively, try Wifi File Explorer, or SwiFTP for file transfers without USB.

Wallpaper issues
I'm running Android Rev Hd 3.6.4 and so far so awesome. The only problems i have had are no internal memory and i can't change the wallpaper. It will only allow the Htc default or a Live Wallpaper. I tried reflashing the rom and this cleared up the memory problem but the wallpaper issue remains.
Any suggestions?

3.0.x? Aren't they already in 3.1.x? Also, why make this if the official thread has its own FAQS?

The reason i posted on here was because i couldn't post on the dev thread and even after searching through the thread i couldn't find a problem similar to my own. The problem has sorted itself out now, seems like it just needed a little bit of time to bed itself in.

The Android Revolution Thread has it's own FAQs in the first post....

member under 10 posts cant post in Development forum.

I've tried 3.63~3.65 with both Faux 0.24br7 and bricked 1.5 and battery life has been horrible. The one thing I noticed is even though the phone is suppoedly sleeping, the display is still draining.

Hi Noolis. Let me tell you that just like you, most people on the HD2 (including me) are waiting patiently for the Android OS to work as perfect as any other native Android Device. The guys on the main thread are working very hard for this to happen.
Just bookmark the following thread and visit it everyday. read the information on the 3rd post, and try their work in progress at your own risk. enjoy
this is the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=719646
Bookmark it, it'll make it easier for ya!!
i keep gettin a green screen then it freezs, i downloaded the zip to the sd card then i extract all the files then run the haret and it goes all the way to the drawling of the android and about a min. after it gets a green screen , what am i doing wrong please
i got that green screen as well but after a new restart it worked perfectly...
And before that i did have the error message "waiting for SD card" for a long time.
Even I dont know how I get Android running on my HD2...
Maybe just restart and retry, who knows!
Good luck
Android probably won't be working right for a number of months. Its ok though. The apps are nice but WinMo is still ok for apps (no calc on droid is as good as the panoramic one, Igo Primo > Igo Motonav, etc). By the time droid apps are leaps and bounds better, android should hopefully be working great on the hd2.
I say, just peek at it once in a while but don't really worry about it for another couple months.
Can somebody make a video for the new rom out?
How to make the Anroid OS working on the HD2 - Step-by-step instructions, FAQ, Tweaks
UPDATED! Read the informations & FAQs below...
For those who have got difficulty in making the ported Android builds working on their HD2, here is a step-by-step description!
Accessories:
- First thing you need to have is: The newest Jmz Android dual-boot program, which can be found HERE! The program must have installed in the Device memory!
- Another thing you have to have is a freshly-formatted SD Card (I recommend 2GB or bigger, but in theory the Android will work with a 1GB or less (the least is 512 MB) card...)
- A ported Android ROM (e.g. 2.1, Froyo, Desire ROM, usw.) You can find some working builds HERE! (Desire ROM, Froyos, Ubuntu builds)
Instructions:
- Firstly, install the latest Jmz dual-boot app (v3) into the Device memory!
- Download the Android build and copy it into the ROOT of your freshly-formatted memory card! Normally you just have to copy the files into your card, but in some cases you have to copy the whole folder though... (for more infos check out the build's README file, if it has got one)
- If it's needed, RENAME the "zharet" file to "haret" and the only txt file (Unluckily I don't know what its name is at the moment, I remeber to "README.txt" or sgh, but now I don't have any builds in which the name of these files are not these names) to "startup.txt"!
- Instert the card to your HD2!
- Restart your device!
- When the boot-screen appeares and starts, choose the "Boot Android" option!
- Wait for the Android build finally starts up (it takes 2-3 minutes or more, it depends on the ROM)
- Use and enjoy it!
If you still have problmes with the installing, send a PM or reply a comment!
I hope I could help with this.
[Please excuse me if I made any grammatical mistakes...]
IMPORTANT! You're really ought to make a full-system-backup before trying ANY of the ported builds out! (I recommend the SPB Backup, but of course, another backup progs are such suitable... either of them will do it!)
For example one of these builds blew my Sense 2.5 sky-high, and unluckily I didn't do a system-backup before I had tried the ported Froyo build out. As a result, I had to modify and customize my Sense again...
And according to my friend, due to an Android build, his 3G-data connection setup has also been laid down... so be careful, for all that that the most of these releases are "harmless"!
UPDATE (updated at 07/19/10):
For example I've just tired this build: "New Froyo build by dan1j3l V1" (description and DL link can be found here...), and it works very well on my HD2! It is fast, smooth enough, all of the wireless connections are working (just like BT, Wi-FI), and so on... worth a try!
IMPORTANT UPDATES AND FAQs
Q: Some people asked me how could the sound working without starting CLRCAD manually...
A: The Jmz dual-boot application automatically starts it, you needn't do it manually!
Q: Why is it not necessary to run "(z)haret"?
A: The answer is the same: the Jmz automatically does it...
If you have still have issues with the Android builds (e.g. with the backlight), try out these tweaks:
- To prevent your device from freezing when it tries to sleep, set the screen's timeout to 30 minutes in the ANDROID settings!
- Turn off "Automatically adjusted backlight" in the WinMo settings (or in the Sense 2.5 settings, makes no difference), and set both backlight option to 100%!
- UNCHECK the "Dim backlight if device is not used for XY minutes" option, and "Turn off device if it's not used for XY minutes" as well! (At the "On Battery Power" or "On External Power" section, it depends on what power-option you'd like to use your phone in...)
If your build doesn't show, or shows wrong the battery-meter (e.g. your battery is fully charged, but the build shows a "?" mark insted of the precentage or ask you to recharge it, etc.) (... and if it's not able to handle it), download this file and copy it into the root of your SDCard, and replace the original with it!
DOWNLOAD (FTP Mirror)
Unconfirmed tweaks:
- If you are able to run the builds in no way, try to format your SD Card in FAT32 filesys. It answered the problem for some people...
- In theories, HSPL is needed to run the ported Androids, but this assertion is unconfirmed at the moment!
not being funny but shouldn't you have posted this in general as android isn't exactly a theme is it ?
Not it's not a theme but the other half of the thread section is Apps. I take Android as as App when it's not a flashed OS.
just installed android using this guide, very helpful so thanks.
im using 2.2 Froyo build by dan1j3l and it seems to work very well. data connection seems slower then on WM, the battery meter doesnt work (and i cant charge the phone or connect it to the PC) when the phone goes into standby, it keeps the backlight and buttons on. also have the issues that many users are experiencing with calls. also when i reboot into windows mobile, the time and date reset!
just to help people out that maybe dont have much experience with this (such as my self) maybe you could add things such as radio ROM requirements, and perhaps a list of things that arnt working accross all ROMs (i think the call issue would be an example of this). you can find it through searching, but its nice to have it all in one place
if it helps i think you need radio 2.08 or above but not 2.12 (2.11 is the latest radio that works), as well as HSPL installed. the 'green screen' seems to be a big issue, but i just removed the battery and re-inserted it and it worked fine

if you are using any of the android builds ie dans froyo or desire there are a couple of different zimages that you can replace in your android file. these will sort out the dimming isssue and have camera working, calls are perfect on my 2 different versions although 1 has accelerometer & no camera and the other is the opposite way round, battery is charging and indicators are working but i havent tried all the zimages to say what else they have up their sleeve so to say.
In regards to radio it needs to be a min of 2.08.50.* mine is 2.12 and calls are clear as a bell although browser can be a bit of hit & miss at times, it is getting better as different builds come out so well just have to be patient til a rom is eventually released.
i keep getting a green screen after the drawling of the android , it will drawl the android a couple times before the green screen pops up and freezes and i cant find anyone to help me out , ive read the directions but the last pass 24 hrs nothing but a green screen
Excellent guide Kromosome !
But I have the same issue as matthewharmon102.
In plus my HD2 it not responding after going to sleep ...
I'm confident that in the next release some of this issues will be solved.
Thank you guys

Hey everybody!
Some people asked me about the instructions, so I've modified my guide, and I wrote some important informations into it, and I integrated a FAQ section (that will probably increase), which is worth to be checked out!
I've also written down what you should do if your device freezes when you try to awake it, or if your screen goes dull after the Jmz starts installing the "haret", and tries to set the Android OS up!
If you have issues (especially backlight-issues), don't forget to check it out!
Hail Everybody!
As we know the Android developers are working hard to make it run smooth on our HD2.
There still bugs here and there but for sure we will get this great thing smooth like our WM OS soon!
Keep up the great work!

[Q] Orphaned Widgets after Installation of cleaned ROM ARHD 2.0.12

Hi Guys,
i'm new here but using Android Revolution HD since V. 2.05 - so far without any problems - Thx to whole ARHD Team
Encouraged by so many well written instructions i decided to 'customize' Mike's ROM using recommended tool Rom Cleaner - placed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876626
I removed some 'core appz' like Facebook, HTC Like, Hub and some other as well.
After succesfull flashing and reboot i enjoyed (and still do) my 'new' smooth system.
Ther is only one 'optical' sort of issue i encountered playing within the widget list. I found there some orphaned HTC Widgets carrying designations like this:
#b219919 or
0.0px or even simply
false
A touch on this entries still shows the widgets - but what happened to the descriptions? I guess and expect, that those broken designations come from deleted 'core appz'. The question is how can i get rid of them??
Thx in advance for some hints
hann
P.S. Sorry for opening of the new thread for this - but as a newbe on this forum i'm not allowed to post directly to related dev threads, i of course tired first to find a solution using search function
Solved. Found some bugreports, which have to be deleted.

SuderMods - a Wooters Tale (formerly Tail)

I receive my GT in a day or so an plan to go to work on it immediately. I will post my steps and experiences here . sort of my own personal wiki. It will be part historical notes to myself....part useful info for y-all...part ***** session.
I will start with my Shipping experiences:
Ordered on the 23rd (like all wooters) around 4:30 pm Pacific
Got my Tracking number yesterday, 29th, around 12:30. Clearly part of the 2nd or 3rd tranche.
FedEx first showed info around 10pm last night.
Mar 29, 2011 2:27 AM - Left FedEx origin facility - Austin.
I've seen others where it goes from Austin to Huchins ... hope mine doesn't have that extra stop..unless that's a plane .
I've done some reading in here on ROMs and bootloaders and recovery...sounds like an AA meeting.
The Tools
NVFlash : utility written by NVidia to facilitate changing the partitions in the memory structure.
ADB : a generic utility used to facility communication between a computer (your PC) and an Android device (your GT).
Apparently, getting ADB running for the GT is a little different than for our phones.
Here is an ADB Guide for windows users I found that has stuff for W7 x86 and x64.
Here is an NVFlash guide for window users...also has x64 stuff.
on Recovery
I've read a couple different posts relating to recovery...to Clock or not to Clock? I've read many posts on how to install Clockwork, other posts that say do NOT install Clockwork. The issue seems to revolve around the fact that Clockwork does NOT modify the bootloader, while the Stock Recovery can. However, Clockwork allows you to clear user data but Stock does not. I think that gAdam ROM has both.
From what I can gather....the bootloader is sort of like the BIOS of your computer. It sort of sets up your GT tab for whatever you're running on it. Some ROMs use different memory partitions in different ways, and the bootloader needs to match it.
roeBeet's post on Recovery has great info.
The recovery issue is confusing. The second post in the above thread indicates to not install the Clockworkmod app...only install bekit's .8 recovery...of which there are two versions...read the post. I've read it 4 times and am still confused.
Firmware
3389 - first batch of woo-Tabs
3588 - most common version
3991 - potential next step from Viewsonic
What do these number represent? I think it's firmware version...which is different than bootloader. I haven't got a good sense of it yet .
I read in the Shipping receiving thread that someone got 3588. Maybe the second batch is different. That would be good...almost worth the wai.....naw....
The first "version" post for the wooters was This one.
"shipped with version 1.1-3389"
On page 2 of that thread roeBeet writes :
"It's not a requirement, but I think it's a good idea to flash to 3588 first. The reason is that you'll get the latest bootloader and recovery, which ROMs like VEGAn don't touch.
Recovery is the one that concerns me, as 3588 recovery seems to be a kind of "gateway" recovery that might (and I stress "might") be needed to get you to a future firmware level. So, imo, I would flash to 3588 first, THEN start using ROMs if you want. It's a safer bet, again imo."
Update: I saw this post in the Shipping Thread:
"Just got mine! Not sure what firmware i started with, but as I turned on wifi I was prompted to update to 3588."
So, it looks like you will be updated to 3588 as soon as you enable wifi....RoeBeet says this is the best starting point...so I guess everything should work out as we need it.
On ROMs & Kernels
Here's a sticky post with links to Video Reviews of All ROMs.
Personally, I will try some other ROMs....but Culkulin had the most stable stuff back in the TouchPro2 days. and I've read great reports on his v1.1 ROM. I will give that one a run early.
Kernsls are different than ROMs. Honestly I don't have a complete grasp on it all ....but I'm pretty sure the ROM runs on top of the Kernel. You can run different Kernels on the same ROM and it will run differently. I think the kernel may control the I/O between the ROM and the hardware.
What I've Done
Initial steps
Well it finally came yesterday.
1. Hooked up to Wifi
2. OTA Update immediately loaded...I obliged
I mistakenly turned on the TNT desktop...what a mistake...i just didn't like it.
So now I'll just load clockwork. But wait we said we weren't suppose to. I honestly didn't see any way around it. I needed to load a ROM but couldn't get the thing into the standard recovery mode. I was short on time and really needed to get a ROM in there fast.
I used the Stick Post as a guide. I had some issues at first. I could see recovery being installed, but I could never get CWM to come up. 5 times I pressed Power- Volume+ and it would just boot. Then I started looking at the folders and files and figured it out.
The instructions are to pick internal or external memory install type and download the proper file. I picked external and dropped it on SDCard. duh.
There are two SDCard folders!
SDCard is the internal ROM
SDCard2 is my card.
Once I figured that out, everything's been jake.
CWM is working I loaded a ROM and am rockin the house!
I'm running Culkulin's 1.1 and love it. I know this guy's roms from the TouchPro2 days. I always built very solid kitchens and I would always use his ROMs. So I'm doing it again. Thanks Cullie!
Tablet's need HC
However, it won't be good enough. I've run Honeycomb on my Nook Color and love it. I will put up with a little performance hit to have that great interface. I just like always have some navigation ON THE BOTTOM. Seriously, if you haven't seen HC, check it out.
So now I'm going to try to find an HC ROM and compare it with Cully's ROM.
I will also try CM7.
However, all this will have to wait. I have a big Boy's Ski Weekend in Tahoe this weekend....I'll be back next week.!
Ginger requires some getting used to : (Updated 4/6/2011)
I loaded up a CM7 build and got lost at first....maybe it's just the recovery I'm using..
Froyo ROMs like Culkulkin, have the memory in the device as SDCard....the external card is SDCard2
Gingerbread ROMs like CM7, have the memory in the device as emmc...the external card is SDCard.
Now, switch between these can be interesting, because, all the browsers put downloaded files....like kernals or gapps, in the download folder on SDCard. Recovery, also looks to SDCard when you want to "apply a zip".
So, If you were on Froyo, everything is great...download from apps in the device and recovery all look at the same place.
BUT in Gingerbread, you have to move the zip file, from SDCard -> emmc....before you go into recovery....so that recovery will see it.
This is probably because of the version of recovery I'm using. But to me, it's a small price to pay.
I haven't tried going back to Froyo from GB, so I'm not sure how it will work....
Useful Links - I'll try to keep this updated.

Cool Stuff You Can Do
NAV System
I have an old bluetooth GPS receiver that i hadn't used in like 3 years....I read some posts about how you can use them...see below.
Well I'm happy to report that it works GREAT!
Install Bluetooth GPS Provider on your GT,
Set up -> Applications -> Development : Allow Mock Locations
You should be good.
It worked great for me in Google Maps.
4x4 Backcountry Nav System
I haven't tried this yet...don't have my GT yet....but THIS looks useful
Use your external bluetooth GPS device on your GT. BlueGPS4Droid
You need Mobile Atlas Creator to create your offline Maps
Along with TrekBuddy... Or Orux .. you got yourself a nice 4x4 nav system.
Accessories
I'm probably going to be picking up this keyboard case from Amazon for $28
Here's some nice picks and review from Android Central forums
ROM Reviews
Here I will discuss my ROM and Kernal changes and what I found.
Speed : Quad scores along with general feel
Solidness : force closes and stuff
Useability : what apps install and work, also how it is moving around in it.
1. Stock 3288?
Sucked...sucked hard....lasted about 30 minutes before I ran to my nearest Recovery.
2. Culkulin v1.1 : (3/30)
This ROM was very very solid and FAST. like 2600+ QuadScore fast. Clemsyn's v9 helped even more with this...WOW, this rom is fast.
Hulu : When I first loaded it Hulu worked. Then i did something and it stopped working.
Market : market was pretty limited. even the "build.prop" fix, didn't seem to help much.
ChromeMarks complained I wasn't using stock launcher so I couldn't drop shortcuts to the desktop.
Speed : 8.5
Solidness : 8
Useability : 6
3. Corwin's Tweaked CM7 RC4 : (4/5)
Not as fast : Quadscore at 1800. I loaded Clemsyn's v9 and it bumped it up to around 2000...so do that for sure.
Hulu : no workie here....I'll try to custom Flash and see if that helps...it does...hulu is up now. to clarify...I set the default browser to Agent: ie6.
Market : everything under the sun...it's what you want. just about everything shows up .... just about everything installs and works..
ChromeMarks let me drop shortcuts to the desktop.
I really like the full time, bottom status bar on this rom...makes it so easy to move around apps and stuff...really really useful.
Speed : 7
Solidness : 8
Useability : 9
4. VeganTab 5.1 : (4/6)
I was a bit scared loading this ROM coming from Corwin's Tweaked. But someone asked me to do it....so I did.
The vegan thread says it will completely erase my emmc internal memory. We shall see....looks like it just renamed it back to sdcard
Hate the giant keyboard. This is a slate right? why the huge keyboard?
This does NOT have the fulltime status bar like Corwin's has...isn't just a restyled top bar
Market set up OK...did not show Dolphin browser, similar to Culkulin...so I assume it's similarly hampered.
Good Quadrant scores : 2200 - 2400
Speed : 8
Solidness : 8
Useability : 5
Back on Corwin now...easy transition....just couldn't get into the Vegan.
lol, is this a joke? 4 threads reserve to mod a gtab?
You know, there is so much information on this forum already...if someone is looking for a certain 'how to' all they need to do is search. Don't really need a step by step when there are already stickies on the majority of the mods/issues.
Each to his own though...
i think hes too accustomed to his droid 2 forum where the people who create roms post this way, however, that information isnt stored in 20 other threads so its a little more needed, this is like someone thinking them modding their device was so important it needed its "own personal wiki" rofl
The purpose here is to consolidate knowledge to a useable form for others. Even if it's just a narrative. The info is VERY scattered...and it constantly changes...Thanks for you helpful comments!
I think this is a very good idea. Thanks for taking the initiative. I appriciate any kind of action forward in this forum, naysaying gets us nowhere. Suggestion, maybe make an unboxing video and a video showing steps to find release version. I think it would add to the complete experience your trying to capture for all of us here. Or you could link good YouTube vids. Keep it up! Can't wait to see more from you. Oh and it wouldn't hurt to link the nvflash thread in development forum

I agree that a consolidated and **up to date** source of installation / modding
info would be great - but it's a huge job.
Last night I was bitten by rom manager - led to the dreaded "magic number
mismatch" semi-brick. Turned out this was a "known issue" as I found
out *after*. I did not think to search for "magic number" prior to the
incident for some reason ... go figure

Sorry to here that.
are you a wRooter? can you tell us :
1. Where you were (device state) when you started.
2. What you were trying to accomplish.
3. Steps you took.
4. issues that arose.
5. What you've done to back out / resolve?
Thanks,
I read the title for this thread, and am still waiting to hear his story about how he came to have a tail...

No - I bought mine from tigerdirect.ca.
I had installed google earth and got it working a few days ago; but
then thought I'd upgrade to a clemsyn kernel. I had already
installed tnt lite 4.2.5. That worked, but when
I tried to start google earth I got a crash and reboot. System then
would not start (stuck at android splash screen).
I should have wiped out everything before the upgrade I think.
I then tried to restore a backup using rom manager + clockworkmod.
Turns out that's a bad idea (rom manager problem - some post here
I found out later warns about this) and when I rebooted to the
restored tablet I got a "magic number mismatch" error.
Then it was time for nvflash.
That worked and I now have everything back to working.
Except I cannot get google earth to work anymore. Don't know
why.

I was a bit scared loading this ROM coming from Corwin's Tweaked. But someone asked me to do it....so I did.

I then tried to restore a backup using rom manager + clockworkmod.
Turns out that's a bad idea (rom manager problem - some post here
I found out later warns about this) and when I rebooted to the
restored tablet I got a "magic number mismatch" error.

I ran into this same problem myself but was able to resolve it with a different approach. First off a reboot and flash the proper friendly version of cwm. Then repartition the drive to wipe everything out. Went to the mounts and storage to mount the ext usb and plugged into the desktop. Drop the update.zip onto the now empty drive, disconnect the desktop and unmount. From the main menu go factory reset, apply update.zip, and another factory reset. Then you should be able to reboot and be in business.
Nice, reads like a good review. keeps others from having to do some of the same experimenting.

HTC Incredible Stockish ROM

I have used the search, and tried to find a thread for this, to no avail.
What I would like, is a ROM that is very similar to stock. Here's what my main wants are:
- Proven use/quality (tell of your experience
- Sense
- HD cam recording (CM7.2 doesn't do this... WHY?!?!)
- Battery life
- Free USB and wifi tether
If I had all the free time in the world, I would simply remove excess baggage from the stock ROM and release it as my own. But... I don't know how to do that.
Anyways, what would you guys recommend?
Also, If a Mod finds another thread matching my question, please link me to it before closing my thread... thanks.

Nice thread, maybe you can list what's available (making difference between A700 & A510) splitting by 2 categories : Acer ROM based, AOSP ROM based
Cheers
new user here, so what's the best ROM for A700s? alot of people seem to be on the iconian but it seems the developer is gone, so I guess it should be the cm10.1 version by pawitp?
don't plan to do alot of gaming on it, mainly for magazine reading & web browsing since i've amassed a whole lot of unread zinio magazines which I've subscribed using the free codes they've been generously giving me over the last year.

Not sure what happened to vorbeth and iconian. Most of the roms have been around for awhile, and not a lot of issues.
pawitp has the CM which gets updates.
There,s a rootbox version, and Iconian. Iconian runs Acer build.
As with running Acer builds, we're dependant on Acer to push updates, which unfortunately doesn't happen often. However, in my opinion, there's less incompatibility issues with games. Just my opinion. This is why you don't see a lot of updates on the roms. Example, I'll push my first update since release. Audio improvements for folks that appreciate good audio. A little theming, and custom Acer ring.
I'd say flash them all, and see what works best for you. You usually know within a day or so, if you like the rom.
You are right, I flashed them all. Somehow stock is faster than CM & Iconian but your ROM is the best Thanks
I flashed CM10.1.3 RC2 to my A700. Has been working well and I really enjoy the new features I gained coming from stock. Most importantly for me CM gave me a higher touch sensitivity which drastically improved my user experience and was the main reason I switched to CM. It can have some lag tho.
I was thinking about flashing the kiteman V4.1 kernel to see if it helps with the lag, but I need to verify if the "Very High" touch sensitivity option will still be available. If anyone can advise it would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I was thinking about flashing the latest Evil Alex ROM because I have read good reviews. Again, most importantly I need to verify whether touch sensitivity will be increased comparable to CM10.1. Perhaps Moscow Desire or boringest you can inform me?
I would say pawtips' CM 10.2 worked best for me so far. The performance is great and feels far less sluggish than stock, which I had before. Also not having all the branding stuff from Acer also improved the device a lot

i just do some experiment,
replace CM 11 /system/bin/rild with CM 10.2 rild
adding build.prop line with:
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libhuawei-ril.so
rild.libargs=-d /dev/ttyUSB2
one hours trying A701 playing rock music album from Apollo, check on off powerbutton every
5minutes ,
Screen-off problem not occurs yet
but another problem with 3G
*A701 can see network, but 3G Data not connected (3G icon signal bar full)
*set DNS > No network DNS: blank , ip : blank
*wifi works fine
hope someone check CM11 rild file for us A701 users
You should ask @pawitp

Hey A700 users. I'm helping a friend and offered to patch up his A700 from what appears to be stock Android 4.1.1 Build Acer_AV051_A700_1.052.00_PA_CUS1. This does not appear to be the 3G model. I don't see anything in the ROM for mobile networks, and what appears to be the SIM slot next to Micro SD looks like it has a glued in plastic tab in it, not user removable without a bit of force.
So, looks like I need to unlock bootloader, install TWRP/CWM, and choose a ROM which is where my question is aimed. I'm wanting to choose a ROM that is mostly up to date, but also does not have any hardware issues. It appears that CM 12.1 has issues with HDMI which I would like to avoid.
I'm looking for in priority:
1) All hardware working (no workarounds, or other things I need to add as a "if this happens go here and do that" kind of stuff)
2) Stable
3) Up to date.
It appears a lot of ROMs are not seeing much activity which is understandable due to the age of the tablet. I'm keen to just flash this once onto something that is a good daily driver and be done.
After some additional digging I'm thinking about CM11: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_a700
It's strait forward, I know CM well enough....
I still have my old A510 wall mounted for home automation on CM11 4.4.4 . But the problem is that I can not install newer applications. Any way to get newer version of android on it?
FYI, I just installed our last Android 6 build (https://builds.unlegacy-android.org/aosp-6.0/picasso2/) to my A700 that I'm giving to a relative, as I believe it is rather stable. It's the last stable Android version for this device (Android 7+ has various graphics issues), and it uses kernel 3.4. It can be used with an up-to-date TWRP, such as: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/a51x-a70x-aka-picasso-2-recovery-twrp-3-1-1-0.2678284/.
I'm sure there was a thread for it here, but I just can't find it now...
I upgraded my A700 from latest official CM11 to above mentioned unlegacy build. Unfortunately since then I'm experiencing massive audio distortion so that I had to revert back. Is there anything I missed or anyone with same experience?
