Triumph Wifi "error" - Motorola Triumph

I've looked at other threads about this issue, and most have to do with installing a custom ROM, which I have not done, so I think this thread is appropriate.
Whenever I try to enable wifi on my triumph, it lists "Error" under the word Wifi in settings are will not scan for networks or even display a MAC address for the wifi device.
Im running a rooted stock triumph, I've tried rebooting, factory reset, stock nandroid backups, cleared /system, /data, davilk cache, Wefi, Wifi fixer, tried to start barnacle, all to no success.
Any help is appreciated. VM will not send me a replacement until they have refurbished models available, which could be weeks. I have weak data signal at home, so right now my triumph is mostly useless.

Turning wifi off, turning the screen off and on, rebooting has helped me but it seems like yours is a hardware issue.

Virgin Mobile has finally come through. I just got off the phone with a very kind associate and she was able to get a new model replacement shipped to me. Solved.
EDIT: for any who were following, I booted into Cyanogen's alpha build, which has confirmed wifi loading, and still experienced the same problem. It's safe to say this was a hardware issue. Now I just have to wait for my replacement.

Good to hear your gettin a new one, def a hardware issue

Broken WiFi??

This is really weird and I havent had this happen before. I have had this thunderbolt since January (had to send my first one back for repair and got a replacement). My phone is rooted and I have been on various ROM's throughout the months. Recently my WiFi stopped working. When I go to check off the wifi toggle, the icon fades like it is turning wifi on, but nothing happens. When I go into the wifi settings page, it takes a long pause before opening. and you can actually see wifi turn on, then turn off. turn on, then turn off. And I get a pop-up that says unable to scan for networks. Now I have tried this with several roms such as Bamf Soab, Plan 9, MIUI, and a few others with the same result for all. Couldnt be a ROM issue since I used Bamf SOAB with wifi with no problems. Didnt know if there was a folder or something I could delete which would refresh the wifi settings per say. Any ideas? Thanks!
Try installing stock recovery, relocking bootloader, and using An RUU to go to stock Rom. If wifi works there, then unlock bootloader again and reflash toms etc., if WiFi doesn't work when your phone is stock, then its most probably a hardware fault

It could very well be a hardware problem. My last Thunderbolt had to be replaced because I was having similar WiFi issues.

[Q] ics 4.0.4 stock ROM wifi stops working

On my completely stock xoom, running the latest build, the wifi stops working after a time (not *sure* how long, but let's say an hour or two). After the wifi has stopped, the tablet will not locate any network (AP) nor will it detect them on the wifi analizer app, with shows all the networks in range and their channels and strengths. The app shows no network activity, which I know to be incorrect. However, after I reboot, all is well... until it fails again. When 8t fails, also, turni g the wifi off and back on again does not fix the wifi (that being a solution I found on other tablets running ICS... any ideas what this can be? Thanks in advance!

Man, if you are rooted, then I can help you better. With stock, it is very limited control that you have over your device. It is easy to root and install custom ROM that will fix most of your problems.
I was actually hoping for a solution that did not involve rooting
I was actually hoping for a solution that did not involve rooting the device. The tablet just came back from Motorola after being repaired for a defective screen. I was thinking that there may be a software problem in the build installed. If this is not a problem that is common on this device, then perhaps there may be a hardware problem, although it does not seem to act that way. . .
Can you do a factory reset?

Yes, that was one of the first things I tried, as that is also the first thing customer support tells you to do. I honestly think that is the only tool they have to use.....
Perhaps its hardware related then. If you aren't rooted then send it back to Motorola.

Random loss of connection?

It seems that during the last four days or so, I've had my One X lose network connectivity at random. I've tried going to airplane mode then back to regular and it doesn't seem to help. Next, I usually resort to restarting the phone and it usually fixes the connection problem. A couple times, I've had to restart the phone twice to regain connection.
Also, my locations have never been a place that does not have good signal. It seems like it's just a random drop off connection (texting and internet).
Anyone else have this problem?

Count me in. Has happened atleast 3 times in the past week. But airplane mode solved my issues
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Happened to me once. I could send and receive emails and use the web browser, but could not send or receive calls or texts. After trying to send texts and make calls for about 10 minutes, a restart resolved the problem (and revealed a few missed calls and texts).
Happened to me yesterday for the first time and again today. Airplane mode on off is working to restore it for me. It shows connection and signal but no data, texts or calls were allowed. I am in Minnesota so I am not on LTE its HSPA+ here. The areas it happened to me were in a town with a low population as well so I don't think that the AT&T towers are overloaded. I am hoping this is a software issue and not a hardware.

I have had the same problems randomly and yes the only way to get it working again is that I have to turn the phone off then on again. It is annoying me as it is happening when I play with the connectivity of the phone such as cutting off auto sync and mobile data connection.
I am having the same problem with my HTC One X. I thought it was because I am using a HSPA APN instead of LTE. In my case this happens constantly through the day. It's very annoying. I thought it could be a glitch with the stock ROM so I rooted my phone and installed a custom ROM and I still get the problem. I hope some one here comes up with a solution soon.
I was also having this issue the first week I had the phone, but I have since rooted, upgraded to 1.82, and installed CleanMOD (and ended up having to RUU a few times in that process) and haven't seen it happen again since. Not sure which of those steps fixed it, but seems like one of them did.
I'm having the same issue. I'm running CyanogenMod 10 on my HOX. For the most part no issue, but occassionally I loss signal (in good areas) but won't reconnect to mobile network, up until now I've just been rebooting, but may try to use airplane mode. Anyone come up with any solutions for this?
Try going into recovery, and wiping cache and Dalvik, then reboot. This has solved the problem for me every time I have frequent data drops. Sometimes comes back when I flash a new ROM. But then wiping cash & Dalvik again fixes it until the next ROM. Might not solve your particular case, but it certainly won't hurt anything.

Thanks, I was still having issues with a fresh install. I actually upgraded my radio this morning, thinking that might have been the culprit as I was on 1.82... flashed 2.20 do you know where I can find 2.23?

I used to have the same problem ALL of the time. Any time I went in to or out of an LTE or Wifi spot I would lose texting and data. I had called HTC about it a half dozen times. It was when I was using 1.85 though. Haven't really noticed it since using CR 4.5 and AT&T 2.20 radio.

Just curious. Even though other devices can sign on to router, have you tried resetting it. Sometimes they have an ip conflict and resetting refreshes the ip tables.
Yeah I would try resetting the router if you haven't already. I know I have had some connection issues before and it was caused by the router. My computer would work just fine, but my phone wouldn't connect.
It worked. Thanks soo much. I should have tried that in the first place.

The router is probably bad. I sell them at work and they go bad quite often.

I agree, they often fail. I use only linksys routers now and I still have to reset it every now and then.
Its not just at home.. its where ever i try to connect to wifi i realized recently. It is also a very new router
I'm having the same problem with mine. I'm running ARHD 6.3.3 never had the problem with Cyanogen. Is there anything I can do about the wicked not really connecting? I'm running Juice Defender, but I've been having this problem before I installed it.

I had same problem with cm7. Heres what I did - phone- wifi serttings, go to your router connection and press forget. Then I restarted phone, PC, router. Back to phone, wifi settings and re-entered router code, extra. Sounds odd but it worked for me

That happens a lot to me, too. I do believe it's the phone. My room is across the house from the WiFi modem, and my sister's is even further. Her phone catches the signal when mine doesn't. I would like to know the solution, too, if there is one.

Still not working. An app maybe?
I have tried everything.. nothing is working. Its not just at home its everywhere i go. Only thing i could think that would cause this is an app maybe? Is there an app that is known to stop the wifi from working? It has to be something like that. If its not i guess my phone just randomly broke.
So, I had this issue too. I bought and installed an new digitizer (again :/ ) but the tape/adhesive didn't get to me until 3 days after the digitizer. By time I got the tape/adhesive (I temporarily used electric tape on the 4 corners til then) I had gotten a ROM up and running. I took apart the phone, to put the tape/adhesive on the LCD (it was a replaced also) and on the digi. When I put the phone back together, the wifi would work, but no internet. I tried it with 3 different routers and the only fix was to reflash the ROM/a new ROM. This was like 3 days ago. Today I wanted to fiddle with the volume rocker to try and get my volume up working again.... well the same thing happened when I put the phone back together and booted up, wifi connects, but no internet, reflashing the ROM/a new ROM, fixed it. I think there's like something with the phone that 'detects' when it's taken apart, and like does something to the ROM. My Tapatalk accounts got logged out also. I did, both times, also try wiping caches to no avail. Also tried turning wifi off, forgetting the network, and then restarting.... to no avail. The ONLY fix for the wifi each time was to reflash the ROM Maybe someone else could try to recreate this, see if it's only me or not.
I finally found out how to fix it. It turns out I had wifi settings backed up from a diferent rom in titanium backup for some reason. I reverted back to my stock back up, cleared all my titanium backup stuff out, then re-flashed my rom. So thank you guys for all the help. Hope this helps you guys fix you problems.

Help Please: Ainol Novo7 Paladin Wifi Authentication Problem

I first encountered this problem the first time I got this tab, about 5 days ago. it won't connect to my wifi at home even though its right beside the router. It keeps on trying to connect and authenticate then it will stop, saying there's an "authentication problem". So I did a bit of research and found that upgrading the version from 4.0.1 to 4.0.3 ICS will solve the issue. So that's what I did, and it worked, but only for a few days. Recently that authentication issue came back to haunt me. I tried setting the tablet to factory default settings, same, Tried to reflash the ROM twice, same. What bothers me is that I didnt do anything to it prior to the wifi issue acting up again. didn't install anything, didn't change any setting, nothing. so I'm totally lost here.
Can someone please help me out here? Hopefully there's an easy fix for this.
edit: Oh and before I forget: I checked over and over again, and the password on the tablet is the same one that is on my phone and laptop, so there's no way I put in the wrong password.
Nevermind... I just reflashed the rom again, then reset to factory defaults then cleared the cache and dalvik. That seemed to do the trick, though I still need to observe it for a few days. If it gets that wifi problem again I'm really going to throw this tablet out the window.

...and out the window it goes. Learned my lesson there. Avoid Ainol tablets like a plague. They're more trouble than they're worth.
