Anyone with touchscreen issues got your phone replaced? - HTC Sensation

My phone is giving me so much problems that I'm about to get it replaced? Did anyone try this and got a working device. I'm on T-Mobile USA btw.

I'm on T-Mobile UK... Nah, I haven't tried that. Not really worth the hassle. If I did and was unsuccessful, i'd smash it and claim for a new one. (Insurance).
Good luck playa'!

You can call tmobile and tell them your issues and they'll walk you through many troubleshooting steps to try and resolve your problems. sometimes they even actually work!
There are somethings that they will replace your phone pretty quickly like touch screen being nonresponsive or the speaker not working among others.
There are quite a few things that will void your warranty tho. If you have any physical damage, water damage or have rooted your phone.
Assuming your phone is still under warranty and they can't fix the defect with their troubleshooting then they will few glad to replace it for you for a newly instituted fee of $5. Shipping will be paid both ways via UPS.

And by the way, yes. I had my first TMOUS sensation replaced due to touchscreen issues. Had my new one for a couple of weeks now and haven't had one problem with it!

Is the sensation worth it?

I have a desire but plan to get the sensation next week. I have been following the threads on here and there seems to be a lot of issues:
3 types of screen some good some bad,
Poor build quality, creaking handset,
Data issues, cutting off,
WiFi issues, cutting off during screen off,
Sense keeps rebooting.
Would you advise anyone to get the sensation?

I think it was worth the upgrade from the DHD, so definitely worth it from desire.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
I also agree it was worth the update from DHD
Go for it. I'm well happy with mine. No real issues at all. There is slight creaking but it's more to do with the outer shell which houses the main body of the device. Overall its a solid piece of kit.

I have had majority of new handsets and to be honest the sensation is my favourite
I had the galaxy s2 yes screen is better and a lot faster (3200 on quadrant compared to 2032 on sensation) but the computer software is buggy and that's how you update any firmware pushes , its hard to get videos to play if they are on memory card
I've had iPhone 4 to and the sensation is better also updates are ota

these threads make me sad
Great, there just seemed to be lot of negatives floating around.
Thank you.
As for eagles I'm glad you took the time to post, really helped. I hope you feel better soon and hope the sadness does not reflect your personality. I hope you are just as helpful on other threads.

I've recently upgraded to an unlocked Sensation on Orange from an HD2 and just love it; it doesn't freeze, creak, get hot, reboot, leak light or have a grainy screen. It just sits there, urging me to play with it and enjoy it, like a kid in a toy shop.
All I've done is play games, download music and silly Apps and I've even managed to read some threads here and download the Terminal Emulator to find out which screen I have.
I really enjoyed the HD2 and now have that for work as they supply some postage stamp sized Nokia thing and at 48, I can't see the blighter!
For me, the Sensation was the right move and I hope to enjoy it for many months to come. My son has the DHD and he's sniffing round mine, with his roms and talk of bootloaders!!! He can bog off and buy his own!
I upgraded to the sensation a few weeks ago from the Desire and to be honest the only thing that is better on the Desire than this is having root and s-off. Go for it

It's a personal choice...for me it's a great device & upgrade (even from the super Nexus One)!
I upgraded from a DHD and certainly don't regret it. I love this phone!

Yes.
Asked a similar question in the [Q] forum. Just picked one up.
After hearing approval from my N1 brothers, I concur.
Its worth it.
I read the complain threads here on xda and most of the time the issues are not as bad as the posters make them out to be. I have an Incredible S right now and before that a Nexus One. The Nexus One got so many complaints, but after I brought the phone it ended up being one of the best phones I owned. Same with the Incredible S. As for the Sensation I'll probably get one this summer.

Yes it's worth it for me! Upgraded from an HTC Wildifre so it's pretty much night and day with the Sensation!
Internal hardware wise the SGS2 are better but OS software implementation Sensation are the best plus the higher resolution support are way good for videos on Sensation, I recommend the sensation over SGS2 anytime. I gave u 1 example on just the lockscreen, with SGS2 u have to drag the whole page right to the top just to unlock it and that is irritating enough for me but with the sensation it unlocks the screen just with a bit slide. So it is still up to u again on what to buy in the end. U have to try it both before u buy any.....goodluck

and thanks for that. still smirking
Jasand the phone is bound to have a few glitches with software which HTC will fix in firmware updates the only glitch I have is the free RAM which is always around 129mb despite the phone having loads built in ... But I have run a few things at once and not had a slow down just use the built in task manager if your worried but to be honest android does a good job at managing background stuff for you
The only other issue is battery just use juice defender
What I would do however is buy from somewhere reputable as a few of us including me have had faulty handsets (hot battery and I mean HOT)
Good luck in your quest

Mytouch 4g I Luv You

This thread might seem unnecessary but I'm making it anyway.
I recently acquired a sensation and it had the touchscreen lockup issue that had to be solved by returning it to HTC. Ofcoursre HTC had to be a **** and charge me 160 to fix the ****ty phone saying warranty seal was broken. So simple. I went with it. Haven't gotten it back yet.
Whatever the point is this mytouch 4g has served me the longest without any issues whatsoever for the past 6 months. I dropped this phone on the subway six times now without any noticeable damage and I don't use a case. The build quality is exceptional and I can't thank HTC enough to design the metal ring around the screen.
I'm grateful to this community and HTC. But this sensation will be the last HTC I own. And this mytouch 4g, I'm never gonna sell it. Ever. Its the best phone I ever had. People who has problems usually speak up like this so I thought this would be a nice addition.

I love my glacier too, although I'm not sure I'm gonna stick with Tmobile after this contract

Yea me too man, I'm gonna keep this phone even when I get the nexus.

I adore my MyTouch 4g. This is my first Android phone and I've compared to many other models that I have seen and continue to. I have to say that I have yet to find another phone that I would hands down say is superior. The cpu is amazing. The amount of RAM is more than I have ever needed. The size of the phone is perfect for me. And development has been phenomenal.
Are the front and rear cameras off center? You bet. Does that affect their operation or in any way slow this beast down? Nope.

Is the Sensation still worth?

I was wondering if the Sensation is still worth buying? Browsing through this forum I found many people having some problem or the other..is it really a bug magnet or what?

This is the longest I've ever owned a phone lol. If I can get a good deal I might jump to the One S in a few months for the camera and the body but i really love my Sensation
Awesome device...Get it before it's too late
And what about the problems
Sent from my HTC One V using XDA
I've had my Sensation since this past August and after many hours spent tinkering, trying out custom ROMs, the only problem I've ever had is that I don't see an icon when I get voicemails. I saw the notifications initially but after unlocking it at the end of that August I haven't seen the icon again.
If something happened to mine, I would consider another model but I'd probably try and scope out a good deal on another Sensation 4G. It's a great phone!
considering the low price it goes for on the used market its completely worth it!!!
Does it beat the EVO 3d?
Sent from my HTC One V using XDA
They're almost the same phones - Evo3D has dual cameras, 3D display and larger battery (can be bought for the Sensation as well) and 1 GB RAM (instead of 768).
Take your pick.
It's very worth, due to the lower price. I like my sensation
It's a good phone, you can get them quite cheap off eBay, mine cost very little (comparatively speaking).
Great phone, still loads of support from devs
I haven't experiences any problem like dust under the screen or the like. Everything works great, and sense4 functions well.
If you want a used and cheap phone get the sensation. But i advise you, if you're going to spend big then look for other phones like the Galaxy Nexus or wait for the GS3.

What problems? Before to buy Sensation I watched a lot of videos on Youtube, read a lot of fourms etc - haven't find any problems, and while using also there's no problems. And mine is rooted and Sense 4 is just great, no need for One S.
Sensation is way to go
so i just got myself a Sensation XE, exchanged my One V since that was a good performer yet still had many defects, and woahhhh i'm absolutely LOVING this XE!
Thnx to everybody for their replies! i'm completely happy with my choice and jus can't stop lookin at the big boy..
Yep. I thought it was a bugfest here too but since the price started to get really cheap last month I bought one and surprisingly it was well worth it. Very fast and responsive on ICS (specially when on Custom rom). Development is superb too. Only issue I have is the poor battery life but these can be solve by buying an aftermarket battery (something like anker or chichitec w/c has 1900 mah).
I bought mine for $250 last month

Getting G2x Soon...my HD2 is slowly dying. Any help would be great

Well my 2 year old HD2 is finally dying a slow death of non responsive touchscreen and Tmobile has no more of them in stock. So they gave me a choice of HTC Radar and or G2x to replace it.. Can't say it was a hard choice.... Glad I kept my headset protection this long..
Anyway....
My question is what are some of the better custom roms around here and call recording enabled kernels? Any advise will be appreciated.

The radar was one of my most horrible choices of phones. The hardware and everything was good, cuz windows isn't fully there yet. Well depends what u want. Ics isn't fully yet stable. But enough for daily use. There's miui which is stable and a awesome rom

Wish they still made the hd2 anyways Hellfire pheonix 2.1 is very very stable. So is cm7. You have to wait till you get your g2x to find out what baseband you are running because the new baseband only works with one rom at the moment. If you get the new updated baseband, which I doubt you will because it just came out you have to downgrade in order to flash other roms out there

The HTC HD2 is one of the reasons why I'm never getting another HTC phone. I had one, the touch screen died on me 1 month after the warranty expired. It's a common issue with that phone. Never again HTC!!!

U must have gotten a faulty hd2. Cuz there's many hd2s still going on strong. HTC isn't bad. Their actually pretty good.
I've used many HTC phones.

Getting this G2x is not worth it. If you wanna buy a new phone, just think of Nexus or Galaxy S2. We already bought this G2x, so we're stuck with it and hang on to it. If you still don't have one yet, think of something else

also samsung s2 brick too easy & don't have many roms offered right now. if you are looking for strong & durable the G2X is the way to go! HTC sucks, too easy to break.

And um, why is the sgs2 easy to brick?.....I know for a fact that lg's own tool has a history of bricking peoples g2x like crazy. You don't hear of kies doing the same much often.
I'm just sayin!
I came from hd2 to g2x. Love the g2x but miss my hd2 screen size. Other than that go for it buddy!
P.s. don't get the radar

3rd time phone unresponsive. How common? HTC should replace with different model

I am wondering how many people have experienced the HTC phone just dying for no reason. I just got mine back from HTC last week after they replaced another one (with different IMEI #), but within a day of using it, it shutdown and became unresponsive again. This is the 3rd time that's happened to me. This time, I haven't even rooted the phone, everything was stock. So the issue is definitely with HTC. How common is this happened? Seems like HTC Sensation has a major bug that pops up and no matter how many times they replace it, it's still there. Are there enough of us with this problem that we can demand they replace with better models?
I've had my sensation for a year, so far knock on wood, I've had no problems ( thank God) ! But I've heard of many people with these issues happening. Could be a bad "batch" or something....
