I am trying to tether with my Gateway laptop, Vista 32bit. It connects, but drops after about 15 - 30 seconds and says limited connectivity. When I run Mobile AP, I have the same issues when running it under WPA2. If I run it on open it is just fine. I used my Captivate with this laptop and was able to tether or mobile, password or open.
I am running Infused v2.0.1 with the Infusion kernel from Bedwa.
Any ideas or people with the same issues??

Can i use the phone as a modem to tether?
Infact, i have a hackintosh, dell mini 9, i would like to sync my phone to it and use my phone to tether in the rare case that i need to?
Search for Missing Sync.
Yes you can tether via bluetooth.
I use WMWiFiRouter to tether my 'hackintosh' (MSI Wind) in all three of the OS's on it (Win XP, Ubuntu, and OS X). WMWiFiRouter is the best software that I have ever purchased for my Tilt (and now Fuze). I always get consistent high speed connections using WMWiFiRouter, which is something I never could get with BT.
I have never used 'missing sync', I just use BT (or a card reader) for files.
missing sync works nice... I use the bluetooth connection to tether. If have problems just PM me.
Does anyone else have this problem?
My laptop will stay connected for a maybe a minute at a time, sometimes just a few seconds and I have to reconnect. Under Wireless Network Connection, the network is listed as "On Demand", if that helps.
I've tried every version of "Wireless Tether for Root Users" I can find and they all have the same problem. Is there anyway to stay connected?
Is it possible that your computer won't let you connect to an Ad-hoc connection? Maybe as soon as it realizes what it's connecting to it jumps off?
Havent had a problem, are you using the administration portion of wireless thether, you might have to just confirm the connection on the phone and apply the settings, you should have a green sheild when on your phone when a allowed device is connected
As far as I know ad hoc networks are allowed, I am using windows xp.
I have access control on and my laptop is allowed and connects fine, it just will not stay connected.
I am using a Toshiba nb205 netbook with windows xp.
On the Choose a Wireless Network window, next to G1Tether it says "On Demand" instead of Manual or Automatic. I've never seen that before.
I'm using the internet fine, I just have to reconnect every 30 seconds or so. Perhaps my google skills are too weak, but I cannot find anything, any help is very much appreciated.
Can you connect to a wifi network from the phone and stay connected?
Can you connect to a wifi network from the laptop and stay conencted?
"On Demand" is normal for Ad-Hoc Networks.
I had the same problem after upgrading from fresh 1.0 to 1.1 w/ gk-31. I uninstalled wireless tether and reinstalled it from my mybackup pro app backup (the one I made before flashing the new Rom and kernel. Works just fine now.
If I'm not mistaken I believe flipz included a newer version of wireless tether, maybe the old one works better.
I just realized I assumed you are using freshrom...
Might try reinstalling it anyways, let us know how it works out.
Reinstalling didn't work. I'll try out some roms tonight and see if they work any better, thanks anyways
Old post I know, but just wanted to see if anyone had any more ideas here. I don't think it's an android app issue at all, but rather windows. I'll be cruising along the highway with a fine connection, but as soon as windows picks up a random access point, it will jump off my ad-hoc connection and try to connect to the other one. not cool.
For some reason, I'm having the hardest time being able to share the WiFi connection my laptop gets with my Gtab.
On my college campus, wifi signal strength is horrible. For my laptop, I have an external 2000mw with a 7db high gain antennae attached. Currently, I use the software Connectify to turn my laptop connection into a hotspot, then connect to the hotspot via my Gtab.
Now, when it works it works great. But it seems like everytime I re-connect my tab, itll show it connected (full bars) but I get no internet. The only work around Ive found this is to forget the connection, and re-do my setup through Connectify (half the time seems like even this doesn't work).
The problem could very well be Connectify which is why I'm posting this.
Anyone know how to either configure a network connection in Win7 x64 Ultimate to be a hotspot? Or know of software/app that does it (besides Connectify and Virtual Router..something like that) to where I just set it up once, and have no further issues after?
Again, I dont know if this is my ROM or Connectify (leaning towards Connectify since Ive had this issue with every ROM I've tried thus far.
I apologize if there is already info. on this in the forum, but I couldnt find it.
Thanks for any direction you can point me here!

Connectify is the answer
As far as I know, Connectify is the only sw that can give you an infrastructure htospot for Win7 x64. I use it and it works. have you upgraded to the newest 2.2 release. Fixed a number f the kind of issues you mention. One cavaet: the new stuff seems to interfere with creating VPN connections on the laptop,

Yeah I'm starting to notice that. I stumbled on a guide using Windows 7 feature "netsh" which can enable a hotspot using your existing wifi connection, and I keep getting errors when enabling certain services required by this. Gonna try this again with Connectify off. So you dont have any issues with Connectify as far as connecting to your created hotspot like the ones I described? What do you have your settings set to in your Wireless settings area on your tab? What ROM are you using?
I have Connectify set to Autorun on my laptop, but even then I have yet to boot into Windows, turn on my tab, and have my tab just connect to my hotspot. Everytime I have to re-do the Setup Wizard, along with forget the connection on my tab and log back into that. Even then, that works maybe half the time.
Thanks for any info. you can lend my way!
So apparently, the "netsh" feature is only useful if you are connected through a LAN, then you share that connection via a wifi connection on the same pc. This defeats the purpose in my eyes, unless I missed something here.
Has anyone been able to use this Windows 7 feature with just a wifi connection and no LAN?
Hi,
I have been using GMote and droid VNC server on mobile for sometime. All this time, since I had one PC, I used my PC to setup a portable AP and connected my mobile with it.
Now, I switched to using DLink DSL-2640B WiFi router and since then am having issues with the remote apps. They don't work or they just work and disconnect quickly. What is wrong?
Am sure it's not about port forwarding or port triggers since I can connect. It's like the connection is very unstable although I have good signal. Does it have something to do with QoS? Anybody? Any ideas?
I am having trouble with my Mobile AP. My phone is rooted and Mobile AP works as long as it is set to open. Once I assign a password under WPA2, it shows it is working, yet my laptops say it is not. I can sometimes get it to work on my win7 laptop, but after 1-5 minutes it drops off. My Apple G4 shows it's connected, but it won't connect to Safari, says no connection available.
Can you steer me in the right direction?
